For the price we paid, we couldn't have gotten anything better. And yes, I would stay here again for the price, free parking, and breakfast. For $150, we got a roomy suite with 2 queen beds, work desk, dining table, full kitchen with a stove, fridge, basic kitchen & eating utensils, and a bathroom. Our dogs loved the space to run around a play. Breakfast was better than expected: eggs, sausage, biscuit & gravy, waffles, french toast, coffee, OJ, fruit, and more! The staff was friendly and I did not experience any delays. I've read some of the other reviews and is there some truth to them? Yes. Saw a lot of different kinds of people but we said hi to everyone and they said hi back. We didn't have any issues at all. And is the hotel run down? Yes, but all we needed was a place to rest and freshen up. So this place worked out well. read more

Traveler Beware! This place is Honestly a Dump... this is not the first time i have stayed here over the years, however it is certainly the Last. Over the past four years The Guest House has went from possibly a two star to a NEGITIVE 5 Star, pleas see pictures attached. I recently checked in for a room as I was traveling from Central Oregon to Eugene Oregon to visit my mother. I had made my reservations on priceline.com and it cost me 73.00 plus tax. I arrived early and checked in, didn't go up to the room because i was on a mission to help my mother out at her home in the Danabo area. I returned back to the hotel around 7:30 PM.. the First thing in noticed was all of the crack addicts and pot heads, yes smoking weed by the entrance door.. It may be legal, but I don't want to breath it.. When I opened the door I noticed was how filthy the carpeting was.. ok, I will just keep my shoes on right? then I went to turn on the TV. No batteries in the remote. so I walked over to the office, no one in site. After waiting 15 minutes and yes i checked the time when I walked in and the time he, the night guy came into the office. Explained to him the TV remote has no batteries... Was told he didn't have the correct batteries to help me out... No TV Tonight I guess. Returning back to the room I then took a look at the bed, mold in the fibers of the bead spread not on just one, but both of the beds... then the chairs filthy, I don't even want to venture what the stains are from. then looking up, mold in the corner of the room ceiling. the night guy auditor did not seem to care, refused to give me a refund so i could go elsewhere when I asked for one. stated to cancel room I needed to do so within 24 before checking in. told him condition of room, he stated he will inform the manger. stated no rooms available to "Up grade" as if that would help.. So I slept in street clothes, laid towels on the bed first. Did not sit in the chairs and had issues with my asthma all night long. I will end this review here and yet there is so much more to share with all of you. I had yet to touch of the crack heads that apparently live at this establishment. the Pot smokers getting high by the entrance door to the rooms, or the piles of Dog Shit all over the parking lot. To the Owners of The Guest House Eugene, Springfield OR. if you even read this review, I would still like a refund See Pics. and I have more pictures if anyone is interested. read more

I booked a room through Hotelplanner.com. The reservation was for 9/16/22 and I got there at 3:20, 20 min after check in time. Due to late connections, I was on a strict schedule. When I arrived, there were no rooms available. As I had to attend a formal dinner, I needed to iron some clothes and get dressed. They were unable to provide me with a room and weren't sure when one would be available. I left to find another hotel so that I could attend my meeting. Later when I asked for a refund, they refused. They were within their rights to do that but poor customer service on top of a seedy appearance and tardiness means I will not be back. Save this one for last. William Reed read more

This facility needs to be closed down by the health department, too bad I can't give negative stars Within the short amount of time I checked in with my daughter and dog we had to leave Dead bugs on floor Rodent fences Stained and dirty bedding and furniture No battery in fire detector No one even bothered to sweep the floors Holes in the shower wall Lock on door replaced with sensor lock yet hole from lock not covered Broken ice machine that had dust and filth Non smoking facility with many people smoking and drinking alcohol outside main doors Front desk told us that they could not access cleaning after they left for the day Multiple calls and emails to property to request refund since we did not stay have never been answered a d today hotels.com said they were denying refund. Let's be honest, you get what you pay for. Sure, the lobby smells murky and the corridor smells like smoke and the room smells like smoke as well, but when it comes down to it, their customer service was great and they were very understanding about us cancelling our stay. I am sure they are trying to improve, because they removed (most of) the stains from their chairs. However, judging off other reviews, they may not refund us, but I am sure that they will do I am temporarily giving them a 4 but may change it to five if they fully refund the stay. read more

Ok, I had contacted these people about these fees, and after emails with the MGR here seems that someone had made an error on the site, and she told me it wouldn't be any cash deposit, she was nice enough where she went and gave us a room rate of $70 without all those fees and it sounds like they are going to try and remove that from the listings, the room we were given for the night is fantastic! Got the King Suite, but the only negative is no elevators here, so if you have any serious issues with walking ask for ground floor. My interaction with the GM here was very positive, and I would recommend staying here as long as you can make sure that there is no deposit fees like I had mentioned in the original post. read more

One of the worst places I've ever stayed in. The place is so poorly maintained, unsanitary, looks & feels like a crackhouse and we did not feel safe. We will never come back and do not recommend anyone staying here. read more

Renée, Kayla, Laura, are just a few of the people who made our stay wonderful. The building is definitely dated but the rooms were tidy. Plenty of towels. The shampoo was amazing. Breakfast was included. Very affordable. We stays 4 nights. The A/C worked. The beds were comfortable. What the building lacked in style the staff made up for with amazing service. I am absolutely disgusted with this hotel. We used to stay here very often but under this new management it's gone to the dumps. Everything was filthy. The manager was very mean to the staff. Half the staff including the manager weren't wearing masks. There were tweakers coming and going all night. People were moving into the hotel and blocking the doors. There is mold in the bathroom. GuestHouse Eugene Springfield - GH Guesthouse Lobby - Hotels Near Me - Springfield, Oregon

They gave the police a key to search our place without a warrant. They don't offer services such as clean bedding unless you demand it. The rooms have moldy bathrooms and the management doesn't care about fixing the problems with the hotel. It is more of a residence for homeless people than a hotel. I would not recommend coming here if you have kids as people staying here may ask to buy their urine(literally seen it happen.) overall I would say stay literally anywhere else. read more

5 stars for a budget hotel. The furniture was dated and worn but the bed was comfortable and clean. We were able to ask for early check in. The front desk had print outs of the parking situation for the show we were there to see (I was so grateful for that! It made all the difference.) The pool was amazing after being stuck in multiple traffic issues. Continental breakfast was real food, hot eggs and sausages, toast and freezer waffles, orange juice and coffee. The only issue was not enough plug ins by the bed, but we run into that at a lot of hotels and bring our own power strip. We would totally stay there again. read more

CAUTION - This hotel is no longer branded as a Shilo Inn. It is now called Hotel Eugene-Springfield some type of independent hotel and boy does it show. One star cause their is nothing lower I have never used YELP before but was compelled to create an account just for this experience. First off I am no hotel snob bit I want good value for my money. I read other reviews of nightly rates in the $50-70 range. Our nightly rate was $130 with taxes etc. WTF. This is a sub $80 a night place at best. Upon arrival I noted the disrepair of the place. Paint chipping and cracking. We entered what is the lobby and saw the same sign about the remodel. My take on this is they don't have enough money to finish. The lobby is so small it shouldn't take over 2 months (based on date of someone else's review) We waited at the counter for what seemed like 2-3 minutes for the employee to say something to us. I finally spoke up and said "Hi how are you" and was greeted with "I'll be right with you" We finished check in and to my surprise we were issued 2 keys. Wow I can't even remember the last time I got a hotel key. At least 12+ years ago. Again not a good sign. Upon walking the halls I noticed all the baseboard trim was missing creating a very unfinished look. The room was very small with our two beds. The side I sleep on was so close to the wall I barely had room to squeeze by. I am 5'11" at 170lbs The room was nothing to write home about. Pillow was flat and only one. Outdated items. The bed had the typical wear of a 0 year old mattress. I kept rolling to the middle cause it was not flat All the other bad reviews are spot on. Stained carpet ripped carpet look of being in kept and old wifi wires running along the halls to a router hanging by a nail. Breakfast was OK but milk and juice in a pitcher in ice oatmeal in a crock pot waffles pre made and stored under a cake cover to get cold My recommendation is to skip this place and keep looking unless this is a last resort. I noticed several other hotels within a couple of blocks of this location that are national chains that will be similar in price and 10x better I hope this helps others to not over pay for this place unless all other locations are booked solid. So, I'm really grateful to have gotten a room when I did. The price was good for the size room. The front desk gals were really pleasant and helpful. The little towel pocket things were pretty cool and the complimentary coffee was good. However, the room had fleas, it smelled really bad. And the cleanliness, well you get what you pay for. Also, there was no complimentary breakfast as advertised and no pool. They used the COVID thing as an excuse but another hotel I stayed at accommodated that by having things available by request. So if they read this review I hope they take into considerable the fleas and the breakfast. Also, maybe clean things more thoroughly. Even if they don't LOOK dirty, but especially when they obviously are. Thanks. read more

This was a very strange place. This is... definitely the kind of place people come to STAY... if you catch my drift. The kind of place where one would smoke a little something and probably live here forever. Definitely saw those kinds of people hanging about. The room we got was actually pretty decent, only smelled very very faintly musty. One of the lamps on a nightstand didn't work. And you can hear EVERY WORD from someone in the hallway crystal clear. Our upstairs "neighbor" would not shut the hell up the second night and kept walking back and forth it seemed until I finally passed out from exhaustion around 1:30 AM. A few different times during our stay here people just hung out in the hallway to chat for WAY too long of a time. Seriously? This door is paper thin, take it to your damn room, or outside, because the door to outside is RIGHT THERE. Oh and also, the door to the outside just slams itself shut because nobody is decent enough to gently hold the door until it clicks shut, whether it's the middle of the day or the middle of the night. Nobody from housekeeping bothered to come by and take towels or anything (we had our dog, we could use extra towels just in case anyway), but that wasn't such a huge deal. Being right off the freeway, and given the state of the lack of care for any exterior areas... this place looks suuuuuper ghetto. The lobby guy was a little strange and had a speech impediment, but he was very nice and informative. It smelled like stale cigarette smoke in there also. Our room was seriously nicer than we thought, though. King bed, kitchenette (though with appliances probably as old as my mother...) a working TV and a futon, which we folded down so the dog could have his own giant bed. The fan in the bathroom (along with the before-mentioned bedside lamp) did not work so we had to keep the door open while we showered. Everything seemed very clean in our room and bathroom, though. We were not expecting the kitchenette, that wasn't anywhere in my hotels.com booking or in any of the messages the person working here sent me via hotels.com. It was a nice surprise having something bigger than a mini fridge! Didn't have to go shopping for ice! Honestly I was just happy to have a working A/C unit. The place was a good deal on hotels.com, we just decided to go the cheaper route. Probably wouldn't stay here again, though. read more

I booked two nights here it was cheap I dont know what I expected but I'm not surprised I guess. Pulled up and first thing I see is a young lady sleeping in the parking lot on a bench with her music from cell phone blaring. Already had the rooms booked so I was obligated to continue in to the lobby. The front lobby there was a lady with a small dog sleeping in the chair. They weren't professional. Had rap music playing while counting money before a bank drop and they needed change for a $20 which I didn't have. Service was slow and felt like any questions would annoy they. The phone rang and they didn't wanna deal with whatever question the person had and put them on hold and acted like they were going to throw the phone. Got my key finally doesn't work for the outside door. Don't have a fridge or microwave. There seems to always be people walking around in the parking lot. read more

I have to give the management of this hotel some recognition for their handling of my concerns over the condition of the room. They were very apologetic and refunded me a portion of the room charge. Don't stay here, plain and simple. The hallways and rooms reek of urine and are covered in stains. Some walls are half painted or just covered in primer. Our room had cigarette holes burned in the comforter, and the chairs were horribly stained and ripped. We started carrying our luggage in for a three-night stay and left within five minutes. When we called the front desk to say we weren't staying, the representative said "I know, I'm sorry, this place is disgusting." It's now a 2:24pm the next day and the manager who was supposed to show up at 10:00am to refund the payment still isn't there. read more

This Motel looks dated. But the rooms are very spacious if you get the one with the kitchen suite. We had a little couch to sit on. There was a coffee table.A table with four chairs. Two queen beds. We really like the kitchen. It had a nice refrigerator stove microwave and sink. There is a water cooler in our room with fresh cold bottled water. The beds are fairly comfortable. The room could've been a little cleaner. But all in all we had no complaints. The location is great. We wanted to shop at Gateway mall and we are right next to it. There are restaurants all around us. The continental breakfast doesn't start till eight and I wish it started a little sooner. For about $90 a night I think this room is a real bargain. Update: the breakfast started at 6:00. We were misinformed. Also, although we had not brought bathing suits, it was kind of warm. The staff told us it would be ok to go in the water in our shorts and T-shirts, so we did! Two 60+ chubby women frolicking in the water like a couple of kids! Luckily we had the pool to ourselves. It made for a memorable stay and I've changed my original 3 star rating to a 4. read more

Booked through Hotels.com. On arrival it was filthy, run-down and had OBVIOUS prostitution taking place. Room was terrible and smelled of mold. The ceiling was falling down. You could tell it had MANY full-time residents and drug users. I called Hotels.com and complained. They called the hotel and then called me back and said the front desk person had agreed to refund my money and to go back to the front desk. We immediately went back to the desk and requested a refund. Kylynn said she had not even charged my credit card yet, and there would be no charge for the room. When I returned home from vacation I saw a charge on my card for the full amount. I called and spoke with Rene Wyncoop the General manager. She was rude, called us liars and REFUSED to refund the money, despite Kylynn agreeing to a refund with Hotels.com! She said she lived at the place and that she had many families living onsite (there's a clue as to the type of place it is) I told her I would post reviews, call Hotels.com and try everything to get my money back. Renee said I was threatening her and said she was calling the police and hung up! Filthy, nasty, dangerous place to stay. DO NOT BOOK IT!!!!!!! read more

Is there a zero star option for hotels that give away your credit card information?? On a long drive back to the bay area after a great visit to Portland, my husband and I decided to grab an inexpensive room for the night to recharge. Front desk staff was friendly, especially considering they have to deal with homeless clientele stopping in for a room, trying to negotiate low rates - yikes! Anyhow, we proceeded to go into our not so clean room that smelled like smoke (how about that 100% smoke free policy!!). We got a decent nights sleep and groggy as we may have been, got up bright and early to make the trek home. We grabbed some cereal and fruit for the road from the complimentary breakfast buffet (not so bad, going for 3 stars still) and hit the road. About 40 miles into the drive I realized that I left behind a pillow. Thinking, no big deal, this must happen all of the time, I call the hotel and ask if they can just remove the pillowcase, which as cheap and ikea as it is, matches our guest bedding, and ship it to us via snail mail - explaining to just toss or donate the pillow as it would be silly to ship. The staff at the desk said no problem, confirmed it would be no more than a couple of dollars and asked if they (shilo inn) could just use my credit card. I figured a couple bucks to ship a pillow case is better than a painful trip to ikea, so sure. Much to my surprise, I log onto my visa account to find a $20 charge from a local ups store. WTF? That's not a couple dollars and, hello, you gave my credit card info out? Wow, talk about unpressed, especially for a hotel chain that seems to be trying to reinvent their brand. Many calls later with UPS and the hotel, I was told I made a mistake by leaving something behind (great customer service, huh?) and there is no proof I didn't authorize this. Hello, how about proof that I did authorize it. Yes, a measly $20, but will I fight it just on principal? You betcha! BBB, corporate, etc, here I come. To be continued ;) read more

This is the ONLY room where we can get an appointment, it was, BECAUSE it was the only place left in town! Let me count the ways, why this place sucks. 1. The sink is too low. I'm 1" over 5' and I have to spread my legs and bend down to get to the faucet. I'm not using the cups, one I don't know how clean they are. I've seen how Marriott housekeepers (TV investigation on hotels) use dirty towels to wipe glasses clean, ever since that episode, I have become paranoid. 2. The toilet after flushing goes on & on. I've blow-dried my hair and finished brushing my teeth, and the toilet was still running & noisy at that. 3. The fridge, this one has a fridge, is noisy as well. I was trying to sleep, and I thought I heard clapping noises outside my door. It was the sound of the cooler from the fridge, like a 'clapping sound' on & off, mostly on. More like 'click-clock-clock' over & over. I'd disconnect the darn thing, but I didn't know how! 4. The floors were bumpy, uneven, sinking (?) feeling. We're on the 2nd level. 5. The couch was stained in several places. Did someone peed on it, or what? 6. Even the hallway stairs were stained & worn out. It's time to do some remodeling, Shilo! BTW: Bring your own shampoo & lotion, and there's no sewing kit. A positive. The pillow I have is like mine @ home. But they have softer ones, too and dh likes those! Update: Hubby & I both had a total of about 4 hours sleep! read more

Their breakfast was not even close to what they advertised, we needed up eating out because it was so gross, frozen eggos placed next to a toaster, powdered eggs and gross sausage. I've never seen this low quality food served in a hotel before. Their towels had so many holes. Their mattresses had holes and springs popping out. The hallways smelled like wet dog. Trash pulled up around the pool area. A patio table set up by a main door where guest and staff alike sat and smoked cigarettes as well as marijuana. The fridge in the room wouldn't shut properly unless you put your weight into it. Just all around disappointed in this hotel. Oh, where to begin. Affordable excellence ended in the 80's which is also probably the last time this hotel has been cleaned. So many stains on the hallway carpets we considered dedicating a Facebook page to them. Mysterious large red stain at our door not very welcoming. We are on night three and our room has yet to be cleaned. Excuse for night one "the door was dead bolted" even though we were gone at 6:30am, excuse for night two "you had personal belongings on the bed" our PILLOWS were on the bed. Man clearly on some illegal substances roaming the halls. Chipped wood, broken glass, dill pickle smell....I'm sure you get the picture by now. Run. Don't walk. You get what you pay for... We made a late decision to stay in the Eugene-Springfield area following an evening Duck football game. The normal places we've stayed before were all booked, but we found an inexpensive room at GuestHouse Inn & Suites. This place has seen better days. The furniture was worn, the porcelain in the tub had rubbed through in places, and our bed sagged in the middle. The walls were very thin and our neighbor left the bathroom light (and attached fan) on all night long that we heard rattling away. Read the earlier reviews and was a little bit nervous but we were pretty satisfied here. We arrived late in the night but there was someone at the desk to check us in with no problem. The property still uses an old-fashioned key! The rooms are a little small but the beds are comfortable and the pillows were nice fluffy and firm. Everything looked quite clean-no funny smells, AC works, big flat screen TV. Free Wi-Fi - I'm getting a pretty good signal right now. Toiletries included shampoo and conditioner (no body moisturizer) There is a continental complimentary in the morning. BEST OF ALL, THEY HAVE BLACKOUT CURTAINS! No fridge or microwave in the room, BTW but there is a restaurant attached to the motel and a Shari's restaurant across the street. Complimentary breakfast in the morning included yogurt, make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy, fruit, packaged oatmeal, assorted beverages- pretty good for free.
