They outright lied and told us we could return or exchange an item we bought online (it was too small) by coming in to the store at the Citadel. Now we kicking ourselves for not writing down the name of the employee we spoke to! The store "manager" offered us a pathetic 10% off of anything in the store for the inconvenience they caused us. Treating customers like criminals is a bad business model. My nephew recently visited this location which is an avid GUESS Retail Store Shopper. So much that he's elected to have a credit card through their company. Upon his recent visit interacting with a female store associate by the name of Cassandra; he was accused of shoplifting by the actions of this associate toward him. Repeatedly asking him to check his bags, following him around the store among other things. When it was discovered he did not steal anything; she proceeded to barrade and lecture him about the stores policies on shoplifters, etc. I am utterly appalled and infuriated about the mere lack of service in addition to accusatory actions this stores representatives feel is appropriate to deter theft. If Cassandra would like to join NCIS, or The Federal Bureau Agency; I believe her investigative skills and suspicious nature of people would be more suitable in this environment. However, to proceed in a retail store environment with this type of mentality and/or lack of customer service training is not only bad for business but appaling to the stores brand and organizational culture. Note, the behavior of one representative can ruin business for one, maybe several customers; including myself (which typically does not shop here anyways). I will be submitting my complaints to the BBB as well as GUESS Corporate about this incident; and quite frankly after reading several reviews in Yelp about this particular location; looks like this is a general practice to treat all customers this way. Friendly reminder for those representatives reading this review: it is unfortunate that shoppers are still stealing in 2019; however, to treat all customers as criminals before actual customers is uncalled for and not an appropriate way to conduct business. Retail Store Representatives are employed to sale retail, not "police" customers, or provide in-store litigations; I believe in most store policies I presume it states to not challenge nor contest shoplifters for safety reasons of store employees; so unless your employees are packing heat I'd re-evaluate that policy. 1 star has been given to this review; only because theres not an option for "no stars". I came here to return two items for around $60, and it was the most unpleasant experience ever with Guess. The store associate gave me cash of $30. I asked why was it cash? I bought it with my credit card. I also returned $60, why do I only get back $30? He said, "oh sorry my mistake." He tried to fix it and asked the manager to come over. The store manager came over, and said, "This is a jumpsuit. You cannot return it for sanitary reason." I said, "I wasn't aware. When I bought it. No one told me I cannot return it?" She said, "It's for sanitary reason. If I were to return this and had something (disease) and you bought it. What would you feel?" In a very aggressive tone. I was completely in shock, because I felt extremely disgusted. Then after a while, the manager said, "The register cannot accept the return to credit card. You should take the cash." At this point, I'm already too fed up with everything, so I left. I wanted to write this review to expose how absurd the manager of this Guess store is. Absolutely terrible customer service. I had bought a pair of shoes that I needed to return as I found a nicer pair somewhere else. I tried to return them and expected the total to go back on my credit card or at least cash would have been fine. They said they couldn't do that. Okay, cool I'll take some store credit then? They said no to that as well. They told me that I HAD to find something else in the store that was the same EXACT PRICE so that I could exchange my shoes for something else. Please tell me how I'm supposed to find a product that was the *same exact price* as the shoes I had bought and couldn't even be a dollar more or less. How unnecessarily rude and uncooperative is that? I understand not giving me cash or putting it back on my card but you couldn't at least give me store credit? It's like they're trying to hold me hostage to their products. My friend and I visit this store on 11/17/2023 at 6:20pm and have never receive treatment like this before in any other place. The fitting rooms were close and when asked why the employee said because they are under staffed. Three employees were chatting away while folding shirts. How you can say you closed fitting rooms because your "understaffed " and have 3 employees talking about their weekend and the manager is in the conversation. I really like some boots and there was no one there to help me get me the size I wanted. As I make my way to the cashier, cashier asked me " did you find everything okay"? The worst service since i came back shopping. I came looking for a gift for a friend . As i was talking to my friend about the shoes i had a representative who was wearing jeans and a white top to check on my mask.. how about also ask me if I need assistance because after all it's still a store. So she never did ask and thats a bad start. Then when i was looking around no one ever came around to help. So i had to go ask for help, literally almost no one in the store shopping. Afterwards it was the same girl, she just seemed like she didn't want to be there. After I bought a pair of shoes I was leaving she was close to the entrance did not acknowledge me as a customer. This place is a shitty place to shop and a shitty place to work at. So I worked here for many years ranging from 2012 and on. When I worked there I was written up for "putting shoes in the wrong order of sizes" in the back(did it twice supposedly) and I was treated so badly in front of customers and associates when I made mistakes (especially by this other girl who had the nastiest acne, forgot her name) theres never a good reason to not treat someone with respect even if they mess up. , even if its repeatedly. So I got into it with other associates over sales so many times and it's because they really put a lot of pressure and they cut hours drastically if you dont make sales instead of training their associates and giving positive feedback like most of my managers after did. I recently went shopping here so that's why I'm leaving a review now, because despite being lectured and talked down to by management and other associates about certain mistakes it really seems silly to me that their management cant deliver good customer service worth shit. I asked to see a watch they literally told me that I need to wait to see it because someone needs to "stand with me," because they had multiple people seeing watches already. That's not something you say, even if loss prevention is priority, you imply to the customer that you think they might steal. That being said the facial expressions and body language was inappropriate and it's hard to really shake the bad vibes after that. Maybe you guys dont like your jobs, maybe you need more support from Hr, I'm not sure. I do know your people skills suck though. Learn to be kind to other associates and customers in general even if they're rude first and dont let that change how you approach people for the rest of the day. Just some advice. read more

04-26-19 Harassment complaint regarding Carlos one the assistant managers, so thankful for CHANTEL to professionally deal with Carlos treating me so horribly. she is truly so professional in every way and a good person. Carlos couldn't have been more rude to me nor more aggressive, I had to ask Chantel to make that man leave and even she could see how upset at me he was and how flustered his face was. I have PTSD and wanted to be in the dressing room with my mom and the ASSISTANT MANAGER Carlos banged on the door aggressively and scared me, then with an irritated tone said only 1 adult allowed, he had a horrible vibe and clearly was upset I was in there with my mother, and I am very sick. I left my moms dressing room and closed the door and I could tell he was rude and upset by the tone of his voice and I said I would like to speak to Chantel the other assistant manager and he again Aggressively and rudely said "there's only one person allowed" and interrupted me and was so rude to me, I asked Chantel to please make him leave twice because he was beyond rude to me with a bad attitude and I am so sick and finally after Chantel asked him to leave, he finally left us. No assistant manager has ever treated me so rudely or scared me like Carlos. He had the WORST ATTITUDE and still was so rude to me even when I wasn't even in my mothers dressing room anymore. I had a really bad experience in this store, I'm a huge guess fan!!! Their prices are amazing!!! How ever my review is based on the customer service. When I walk in the girls greet me as usual I continued walking and they offer their help however I didn't need it at the moment so I politely said no thanks, I continue looking in the accessories area and one of the associates was talking to a client that apparently was an ex associate I continue checking into the jewelry then my phone ring, i open my purse and in the mid time I left the bracelet I was caring it in the shield the associate that was talking to the client look at me and she is like you want me to hold you that ? In the Register I'm like sure! And them she ask for my name, Then while I keep looking at the jewelry she continue asking a soon as I grab any item the same question it bothers me because she stayed there the whole time while i was checking The jewerly !!! I was so irritated!!!! Because as I continue shopping I saw 2 mall securities or officers coming in with the store manager they stand behind me like "checking the store" . I finish looking that and continue with my shopping but I can feel how the security or officer would look at me I really feel uncomfortable and decided to pay and leave by the end I got one more accessories and the same associate ask me you want me to hold it for you? I'm like you know what I'm just going to pay she is like ok! I go to the register and there's 3 girls just looking at me I pay and left! I totally understand that the Job of an associate is to take care of their clients and prevent shoplifters but I never did anything that can make me look like a possible shoplifter I'm really dissapointed about the customer service of this store.
