I just had the best mechanic experience of my life. I hit some debris on the 80 coming back from tahoe and my subaru outback started making a horrible screeching noise on the front left side. I took the car in without an appointment and the mechanic took my car in immediately. We looked at it together, he put the car up on a winch, took the tires off looked everywhere and couldn't find anything. He took the car back down put the tires back on and started it while still on the lift to hear the noise again. That next time he took his screwdriver through a hole in the wheel and pushed back into shape a metal shield that had been pushed into the inside side of the brake rotor. Voila, all fixed without any expensive new parts, or waiting around. read more

I have dealt with Vu (Owner) and his staff for over 10 years, and have always been treated fairly. He will work with your schedule and often seems to work long hours to ensure that jobs get completed as promised. We have had several cars that have been serviced by Guerrero shell - everything from smog, brakes, water pumps, alternators, batteries, electrical issues, etc. All done right and at a good price. I always recommend this shop to friends and they haven't been disappointed!! 12/12/13 Update - Just had more major service done to one of our cars and once again, Vu and Guerrero Shell did a great job!! Stopped by here to get my car smog checked. Vu was extremely friendly from the second I pulled up. Before dropping off the keys, I told him that my car has an after-market air intake installed, and he decided to quickly take a look with me under the hood to make sure my car wouldn't fail the visual inspection. I was really appreciative of that, because the last place I had been to failed my car for the visual inspection. Also the service was very quick! I'd definitely come back in the future. Mechanic's shop charges $140 just to plug their computer in to see what's wrong with your car, before starting any repair. Find a mechanic that doesn't charge for this fee (most don't) or buy the computer yourself, new ones are $20 and can connect to you phone. I was also unsatisfied with their diagnostic and repair. After going to another mechanic I learned this shell station had replaced the incorrect sensor and had charged me double to repair it. read more

This gas station is in a perfect location. The service is not that good. I needed a bit air for the tires but the machine was not working.

FYI this station breaks the law. Since 1999, California state law has required that service stations provide free air to paying fuel customers and the staffer running this shop is denying paying customers air for a flat tire after a fill-up. **Oh I absolutely did show my receipt. And don't worry the station was reported to the State. How bad would you feel if someone's tire blew out because your greedy ass wouldn't give them air. read more

Called in at noon pleading for a smog check later that same day. The response- "No problem!" And sure enough, i dropped off my car at 4:45 and drove away 20 mins later extremely happy, my PASS smog cert securely in my pocket. Courteous and reliable, Vu should be your #1 choice for smog and all other services (he even offered to top off my oil). Excellent service!! I arrived at 10:30 in the morning on a Saturday and my car was immediately taken in for the smog test by the very friendly mechanic. I was nervous because I am traveling soon and hadn't realized I would need a new smog test. I didn't even have to mention this. Great service! ZERO (0) stars -- I am a person with a disability and parked in their lot in the disabled spot with my Handicap placard hanging in site. We, being from out of town thought it would be safer than on the street while we went to the park around the corner for a few hours, which is legal -- because of having a disability...but it wasn't safe at all. When we got back -- two (2) of our tires had been punctured with a screwdriver on the sidewall. The guy immediately knew what he was going to charge us -- $175.00 and two (2) hours to replace one (1) tire and put the donut tire on the car. When we originally returned to the car -- the owner was weirdly behind the garbage dumpster next to our car. Is this a scam to take people with disabilities for money? Do not give these people one red cent -- we will be reporting them to multiple government agencies for this illegal behavior. He wasn't even surprised that someone had punctured our tires in his place of business -- very suspect behavior from this guy...incredibly shady! Zero (0) Stars! read more

Vu runs and operates the station and is the head mechanic. He is quite simply the most honest mechanic I have ever met. He makes time and space for me whenever our two cars or my weekend truck needs work or fixing. He doesn't just tell me what's wrong, he actually shows me the leaks or whatever the problem is, explains the problem and how things work, and explains the possible solutions, the alternative costs and his recommendation. He is extremely humble and VERY reasonable on costs. Most importantly, he has my implicit trust. Bed mechanic I ever had. read more

Making a recent cross-country move to San Francisco my car experienced serious overheating issues and my brake light stop switch wasn't working right. Vu made the repairs without killing me with labor costs and he didn't try to pull one over on me with the price of the parts. He is very honest, friendly, and backs his work. He even attempted to save me money by fixing the old brake light stop switch, and when that failed a few days later he made the repairs without charging me for labor, just the new brake light stop switch. I have an old car that failed a smog test at a different station and took it to Vu Le at Guerrero Shell to get it fixed because he is a star certified test and repair station. He told me that the numbers showed that I had just barely failed the test and that if I used a high grade gas and warmed up the engine during a long freeway ride, I might pass the test. He was right and the car passed!! What a relief! He was so helpful and honest in contrast to everyone else I spoke to. Even my own mechanic who I went to for a diagnostic test costing $85 told me I would need a new catalytic converter. I cannot recommend Vu highly enough!! If I had just gone to him first, I would have saved a lot of money and time. This is the guy you want taking care of your car!! read more

I left my car in the Shell service station for 9 days for diagnosis and service because the car did not pass the smog check. I received a call on the 9th day that the car was ready. I paid over a thousand dollars for the work repair. After I drove the car home, I notice there were 5 major dents on the passenger side of the car. Boy, was my wife pissed when she saw those dents on the passenger side of the car. I called the service station the next day about the , they denied they have anything to do with it. I have never yelped before but my anger about this place has built up for years and I finally need to vent. The only reason I keep finding myself there is that it's right by my house and I'm lazy. No more! The guy is such a crook! His gall is astonishing. I just went to get new windshield wipers. I asked how much they were. He said $15. Sounded fine--what do I know? I see him putting one on (passenger side) while I fill up my tank. He finishes installing and goes about his business. Before I pay, I check the one on the driver's side and it's still old. When I ask him about it, he feigns shock. You wanted 2?, he asks. Yes, of course. He explains that that would cost $30. I say that's too expensive, forget it. He then struggles to take it off but it's stuck! Literally, he acts like it cut his fingers trying to take it off. I get frustrated and say forget it. I pay for the one windshield wiper and prepare to leave. But then I get pissed that it's on the PASSENGER SIDE, which does NOTHING to improve driver visibility. I ask him to at least switch it to the driver's side. He pops it off in about a second and switches the one on the driver's side with the new one. Amazing! This might sound like a minor incident but it's the final straw after many similar experiences. DO NOT GO HERE! read more
