I'm not sure how this place obtained a Michelin star. We've gone too many in different countries and I have never seen such bad Service, such mediocre food, including the drinks where I had to walk out before being served the first course. I will tell you. They were super apologetic, and I told him that I would pay for all of our food. The manager was very elegant and very sorry for our situation. And I appreciate that, but I can't let this pass, knowing that this place has such a high expense for not even a good ambience. read more

During my first night in Florence I had dinner at Gucci Osteria and opted for the à la carte menu. The timeless cocktail was sensational omg. One of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. So smooth. The ice even had Gucci imprinted on it (I'm such a tourist). The turbot was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Their infamous spaghetti with almond and pistachio was just okay. I topped it off with La gola for dessert which was amazing as well (not too sweet but still satisfying for a chocolate lover). In true Italian hospitality, I wasn't rushed and everything was explained beautifully. Multiple hosts catering to my every need. We had Gucci Osteria pretty high up on our dining list when making our Florence itinerary but after hearing some mixed reviews we opted to go for lunch instead of dinner. As expected, the interiors are pretty fabulous and the service and food ended up being great as well. We opted to order off the a la carte menu in lieu of doing the tasting menu which felt like it would be too heavy for lunch. Favorites were the pistachio spaghetti and the Journey to Modern tortellini which was absolutely incredible. I thought the Gucci portion was a gimmick but was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Food quality and service was excellent. The starters that were included were small and tasty with the watermelon ice, bread sticks, and espresso imitation soup. We got 2 courses and thought it would be light, but it is insanely filling! The spaghetti and tortellini combined was already way too much food. Both were excellent texture and taste. The beef with caviar seemed small but was very filling. The fish with chips on top was very large in size. There is no way we could have finished 3 each! The bread they bring out was piping hot. Just perfect with olive oil. When the bottle of wine and bread course are the highlights of a Michelin starred restaurant meal, that says just about enough but let's not stop there. I filled my own wine glass many times, dishes were left on the table far too long at each course as well as empty bread or butter dishes, things dropped very sloppy service. We haven't gotten to the food yet, out of all the courses there were a few edible bites. The main dish a parpadelle in orange sauce with a burnt orange zested on top was so inedible I sent it back after one bite. Chocolate mixed with chicken liver, coffee mixed with beef consume, there are some examples of the stretch made to be gastronomic. This felt far more Japanese than Italian in most dishes. The first bottle of Champagne we ordered was corked, we let them know and thy brought over another individual to tell us it was not corked and he would just drink it letter. 2nd bottle was great thankfully and the highlight of the evening. This was an epic fail. I'll note I've been to 50+ Michelin restaurants as well as the Beverly Hills location. This was just a huge miss, surprised they have remained open with this food and service. read more

Amazing dining experience from the atmosphere, the service (I believe we had 6 or 8 servers), the fun play on norms with the courses. The atmosphere is very beautiful, like an elegant parlor. A place where you can sit and enjoy but the food is the star. Staff was well trained and well versed in the menu items as well as the whimsy that comes across in the food. The food was amazing. From welcome course to final final course. A delicious experience. For example, in the second desert course, the meringues all taste different and have different consistencies and the pool of raspberry and cassis is just amazing with the chestnut and toasted meringue. Well the place was gorgeous as you would expect any place with the name Gucci on it. However behind the facade lay a poor restaurant complete with a snobby waiter. The first waiter was ok and sat us after his boss lady told him to step on it. He wasn't unfriendly but the second waiter serving us was disgusted that we as ugly Americans needed more than a tablespoon of maple syrup for the pancakes. Also let's talk about the quality of the food. My avocado toast arrived in a petrified state and basically had to be snapped apart with my knife used as a Michaelangelo chisel breaking into the hardest piece of toast on the planet. My husband's pancakes were the tiny ones like the frozen "silver dollar" ones you find at Walmart, except these pancakes had petrified in the Gucci freezer as well and were hard and tasteless. When asked my husband enjoyed wiping the arrogance off the face of waiter 2 by letting him know the pancakes were basically freezer burned. Sorry Charlie they sucked. So please don't go there unless you like a wide discrepancy between what you see and what you get. Not top notch. read more

We ordered a $500 bottle of wine. It was corked. When we flagged it, our waiter looked us dead in the eye and told us it wasn't. When we pushed back, he shrugged and said he'd "drink it later." Incredible. Truly a man unbothered by his job description. From there, the night was a greatest hits of things you should never experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant: every single dish arrived cold or room temperature. Not intentionally. Not artfully. Just... cold. Like it had been plated, forgotten about, and then remembered. The textures were soft and mushy in that specific way that tells you something was once warm and is no longer. The menu reads as adventurous. In practice it means you will encounter liver paired with chocolate and wonder, sincerely, who this is for. You will also notice that virtually everything comes with some form of meat as if the kitchen is afraid of what might happen if it doesn't anchor every plate to an animal. Vegetable? Here's some meat. Dessert? Meat adjacent. It's relentless and exhausting. The portions are tiny. Fine, that's the game. But when the food is bad and cold, small portions just mean you're hungry, cold-mouthed, and disappointed all at once. We poured our own water. We poured our own wine. Dishes sat on the table long after we'd finished. Things were dropped. Staff treated our presence as a mild inconvenience they were professionally obligated to tolerate. I've eaten at hundreds of Michelin-starred restaurants. I know what this level is supposed to feel like. This wasn't it. The bread was excellent. Genuinely. The bread deserved better than the meal that followed it. This place has the ambience and while you're going for the Michelin rated food, the ambience is slightly superior than the food. The design of the plates and interior of the restaurant are something to appreciated. The food was flavorful, service was excellent and I appreciated the diversity of the dining clientele. Very young to older couples, there was a couple that brought in a well behaved dog (!), and they also had a high chair setup for a young child. The coffees were nice with a touch of chocolate. The Champagne arrived with a series of salty food items to enhance the drink. The waiter was super formal, super young and super nervous. With a fantastic location (even better: mostly in the shade) on the Piazza della Signoria, and a classic interior, next to the Gucci museum, what could go wrong? Very little. The plates were excellent. The lobster and begonia leaf taco, the eel and pumpkin ravioli, the Chianina (beef) with caviar, and the cleverly executed cod covered in fried cod scales (unfortunately, not as visually exciting as it could be). Oh, and the (50/50) butter/olive oil to make the three different kinds of bread "healthier." Or tastier. One of those. And the servers were more than hospitable to the tourists. Maybe a little too hospitable. I was a bit disappointed when a second couple with a baby carriage entered, but luckily they were too late for lunch service. Hopefully, the first baby in the restaurant was using the only high chair. But I doubt it. I understand restaurants need to make money, but please let everyone know, before they make a reservation, that "screaming infants, who cannot possibly appreciate our chef's efforts, are more than welcome to disrupt the meals of any or all of our other paying guests." Really nice experience. I made reservation two months before our scheduled trip and was looking forward to dining here. The whole experience was awesome, the interiors of the restaurant, the table setting, the food and the staff. We chose the tasting menu and got to try a few items. So many flavors and textures in every plate. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. He even gave us free museum tickets to the Gucci museum next door which I actually visited the next day. Fun and Engaging experience. Can't lie, We were pretty skeptical coming here because of the Hype and it not living up to expectations, but it did! Loved everything from the amuse bouches down to the mains. Every dish triggered some memory and plating was immaculate and what youd expect. I personally also have an added bonus of having a reference point in going to Pujol and being from California so seeing the elevation and combination of Italian and Mexican cuisines was fun to see and experience. Gorgeous room, fabulous service, beautiful presentation--but the emperor has no clothes! The food was frankly-terrible. First the amuse bouches--beautiful, but mostly a mish mash of tastes--the textures were ok but there was a bitter note in at least one of these that really didn't taste good. I also disliked their choice of house Francicorta-and I am typically a fan of this wine. The first course was artichokes three ways--which was again, simply not good. The creamy component was overly heavy, and the overall taste was not so much of artichoke as it was of vinegar. Next I had the tortellini--and while they were tiny and beautifully made, the overall taste was heavy and a bit insipid. There was a bread course served with olive oil and butter, which seemed promising (how could warm crusty bread and olive oil be anything but wonderful?) but even the bread had a bitter aftertaste that made it unpleasant. Even the little sweets presented at the end of the meal were not good-- bitter cocoa nibs over an insipid chocolate cream, but there was a tasteless gelatin layer in between that made it unpleasant to eat, and the cantucci dipped in chocolate was soft, not crunchy as it should have been. I was really looking forward to eating at one of Massimo Bottura's restaurants, but if he is willing to put his name on this, then I am not such a fan after all. Sadly disappointing. read more

My husbands favorite meal during our entire Italy adventure. And probably mine as well. After an amazing experience at Gucci Gardens we ended it with dinner here. We were the first reservation so we got to be the first in the restaurant and that was really nice because we got to see it before it was filled. The ambience was beautiful and our host was kind enough to explain how the restaurant came to be and how the building was incorporated into the design. The staff was extremely attentive and patient with us answering all our questions and very aware that I didn't eat pork so they made sure to check in with me about every dish. The meal was prie fixed and the group had to order the same menu because its all timed a certain way. Luckily they let us add in one dish from the other menu that I really wanted to try. So you can get the best of both worlds! My husband got a wine pairing with his meal and I sipped on kir royals throughout. Overall, the meal was truly amazing, it was the first meal that really had some delicious unexpected twists. The chef did a wonderful job of incorporating her flavors from separate cultures into dishes. The chef is Mexican and she combined that with Japanese flavors. My favorite dish was the one we ended up adding in from the menu we did not choose. It was lung but honestly if I wasn't told that I wouldn't have guessed. They even brought out a little extra dessert for my husbands bday. And their homemade marshmallow with a hidden expression ball inside was the perfect way to end the night. read more

I went in expected to be annoyed about spending a meal in Florence on an overpriced, good-but-not-amazing meal, and while it is expensive, and I'm still not sure I'd want to make it a priority next time we're in town, the food really was outstanding. We got the spicy eggplant as a side (which I'd skip next time around), along with the Emilia burger and the tortellini in parmigiano reggiano cream, both of which were pretty incredible. The tortellini was similar to the one at Osteria Francescana, which was one of my favorite dishes of all-time. We were in Florence looking for both the Italian cuisine and the iconic house of Gucci; thought this place would be perfect - however, we came to find that the menu was Mexican/Japanese inspired by a Mexican Chef. My wife wanted to come here before we left the states and has talked about it incessantly since we landed in Italy nine days ago. The idea of a fashion shop's restaurant came off to me as tacky and cliche, so needless to say, I wasn't as excited to eat here as she was. Fast forward to now, I am still sitting at the table having just finished the fifth course and felt the need to let everyone know just how incredible this menu is before I left. It could not wait! The tasting menu is an absolute must. The chef combines flavors of the world in each dish, pairing and ordering them in such a way that the courses flow seamlessly. It was truly magnificent. Having spent the last nine days traveling across Italy (Rome, Naples, Capri, Positano, Amalfi, and Florence) and not skipping any meals, this place topped the charts thus far. This Place is most about the setting as im sure most know. This is not the best place in Florence for "fine dining" though the prices would say otherwise....... The tortilla with the raw fish was devine! This is a 5 star dish worthy a 1 or 2 star Michelinrestaurant. The rest? Not so much im sad to say. The burgers highlight was the pink box it was served in with master Massimo Botturas name on it...... The bun was fluffy but with two different sauces and no other condiments the balance was off and it felt a bit greasy. Any good burgerjoint would do a better burger (no there are no good burgerplaces in Florence so Think again......). The squid dish was a bit tasteless wich was kind of the feeling with all the rest dishes. They where not "bad" per say just not Worth the hefty prices around 30 € each. The desserts was also just ok and nothing special. Seems a bit odd for Mr Bottura to put his name on the menu when i cant imagine Osteria Francescana serving any of these dishes. The setting is very nice as you would think and the service staff are curtious without beeing overbearing. The +200 € bill with one glass of wine was a bit too muck though. For fine dining in Forence i recommend Ora d Aria with one Michelin star. Great food at decent prices. Go there unless its more important to say that you had dinner at Gucci....... read more

After heavy weekend of Michelin 3 and 1 star restaurants, we somewhat trudged into another Michelin star restaurant. However we left with bounce in our step. We chose al la carte. My BF ordered bonito tostada which was a chef's signature dish and tortellini and both were outstanding. I ordered octopus and clam risotto both were excellent. We shared wonderful chocolate and praline for dessert. There was outside setting which was closed for night. I would definitely come back, maybe sitting outside for lunch and and do people watching. Really nice experience with Gucci, but nothing mind-blowing. I think part of the fun is just saying you dined at Massimo Bottura's Gucci restaurant in Florence. The pea-green walls are really unique and we absolutely loved the Gucci special collection connected to the main dining room (and may have spent far too much money while we were there). We were the first to be seated in the dining room, but it quickly filled with small parties. I would suggest reserving a table ahead of time, but I'm not sure they fill up to capacity often. The service was definitely slow and unattentive - even forgetting wine pairings and forgetting things we requested. We selected the tasting menu with wine pairing. The tortellini was fabulous, and the tostada was surprisingly yummy. Didn't so much love the pork bun. The wine was enjoyable but a bit overpriced for the small portions we got. Gucci Garden has this attached, reservations-only restaurant, and it's one of the city's best. Massimo Bottura (the world's top chef) created the menu and handpicked the head chef here, so it's phenomenal. It's also priced accordingly. This review details my culinary experience there, not including the museum. The staff were friendly, professional, and fabulously dressed in head to toe Gucci. I went here with two regulars and received the royal treatment. We started out with a free glass of an Italian Brut and a verdant amuse-bouche. They have two tasting menus of different lengths, both with optional wine pairings, and an à la carte menu with even more options. Whatever you do, get the purple corn tostada. It's the signature dish of the restaurant's head chef. We began with a purple corn tostada and the "tentacle spectacle" (octopus with squid ink). The tostado is a fabulous crisp on top of citrus-marinated tuna and avocado, or avocado and green apple if you choose the vegetarian version. The octopus was by far the best I've ever had. The servers explain each dish's ingredients and how they were cooked, which adds to the appreciation. I recommend the tostada for everyone, especially those in the mood for something light and acidic. I recommend the octopus for those who don't know how amazing this protein can be. Our second course was the absolute favorite dish of my foodie friend. Whether made vegetarian or not, the taka bun is a fabulous punch of spicy Asian flavors in the midst of Florence. As a carnivore, my steamed bun was filled with pork belly, cilantro, cabbage, apple, and a zesty red sauce. The bun was pillowy perfection, and the crisp veggies balance out the spice and meat well. As our third course, I tried the tortellini. It's covered in a thick, creamy sauce and filled with well-seasoned meat. This seemed to be the most classic dish on the menu if you're looking for truly Italian food. It paired beautifully with their recommended red. Excellent comfort food with class. For dessert, we split their apple concoction, a warm, caramel-hinted rose carved of fruit and served with ice cream. We also had the "not a carrot cake," which is not a cleverly named carrot cake. It is decidedly deconstructed enough to be something else entirely that happens to have many similar ingredients, mostly carrots. Despite the lack of equivalency, in my experience, if you like carrot cake you will like this. All in all, this was the best culinary experience of my life. read more

I was skeptical about making a reservation at this restaurant because I thought it may be overhyped and too expensive. Not only that, but I'm a college student from the United States with three high school friends, and we're ballin' on a budget. I knew about this place because 1. it's connected to the Gucci Garden, which is home to Gucci's history in Florence and 2. it's under the name of Massimo Bottura, the proud owner of Osteria Francescana in Modena. I couldn't make it to Modena, but I sent it and went here with my friends to try the closest thing to Massimo's Modena. I was especially looking to try the world famous Tortellini. And the Tortellini was just as good as I hoped it would be. Very delicious, and not as small of a portion as I thought it would have been. Also not super expensive, at 30€. I also got the Elaine Burger, which has a fun presentation and tasted pretty good. That was 25€. Finished off our meals with a 18€ dessert called the Purple Rain, which was a lavender and coconut dessert dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. It was very refreshing. All-in-all, I left satisfied. I think the Gucci Osteria provided an experience. It's connected to one of finest chefs today and one of the finest luxury brands. The staff was excellent - helpful and kind. We even got some tips from the man who took our payments. He told us about some fun stuff to do for people our age and some restaurants in other locations that we would be traveling too. The service surpassed my expectations. I would highly recommend this location, even if you are skeptical. Not as expensive as you might think, great service, and delicious, unique food. read more

Sometimes you pray to the foodie gods that a miracle happens. And sometimes they even deliver. This place.... Massimo Bottura has created the menu for the café inside the Gucci Garden. We knew we were only going to be in Florence for a short time and I had to give it a try. We got to try the lunch menu and it was everything that I hoped for and so much more. You can make reservations online if you are coming in from out of the country. It's a small café obviously I think no more than 30 seats max. It stayed filled the entire time but you would never know as you were treated as if you were the only person in the room. English is spoken here as for other languages I can't be sure. It is Gucci so I didn't see anyone in jeans and trucker hat but it was a casual atmosphere and there was a mix of tourists and locals. Its enclosed but shoppers can still see in.. and boy do they! Their green envy faces matched the paint (...sorry had too) They do have a tasting menu if you have coin and time. I believe a choice of 5-7 courses. The table next to us ordered that and it was an endless parade of goodies. We ordered from the a la carte side and of the menu. It was one of the most difficult choices I've made but it went smashing! I did get to try the tortellini and well it was awesome. I wanted to be different so I tried the pork bun. And that was everything! Desserts well just order them all ... but if you can't we has the forbidden apple and Charlies sandwich. And well... indescribable! Went there with two friends last week...we call it the "GUCCI DESASTER"... terrible service, food was just ok. One of my friends had a hair in his food, the other found a fly...the waiters comment was "we are no magicians...this can happen". My friends wanted to take the 90€ tasting menu, but were declined because I didn't order it as well. The kitchen doesn't allow to give out the tasting menu unless everybody on the table orders it.... I asked the waiter if the chicken comes with bones or if it's just the chicken breast...he said no bones...as you can guess there was an entire chicken on the plate including bones. Waiter started mumbling things like "Stronzo" and Started getting sarcastic. Bullshit restaurant....The Gucci Café at the Mall Outlets was way better. We were there last night and it was terrible. The bill was over €400 for my husband and I and we decided that out of the 10 dishes(we chose the larger nine course menu and added a course from the other option) we had only 3 were worthy of a second try. It wasn't a matter of taste either, one was completely over salted, pasta was almost crunchy it was so undercooked among other simple errors. We have been to 4 Michelin starred restaurants and many other fine dining establishments and I would never come here again. This is the restaurant inside the Gucci Garden aka Gucci Museo! It's gorgeous with the green wall, everything is thought out with their brand in mind. Staffs' outfit, the bags they carry, the floor is painted, plates etc. Food is definitely on the pricy side with small portion but surprisingly filling! I didn't take pictures of all the food we got but you get the idea of their presentation! Everything was delicious from beginning to end, the manager even sent over a little chocolate mousse bite with the candle because I put the occasion as our 4-year anniversary on the reservation! It's small and good and nice of her to do that. She also asked if we visit the museum yet, which is what we plan to do after. She gave us two of her business cards, she said we can get two tickets for free anytime we want to go. Again, it's the gesture that we really appreciate, we were going to pay the €16 to to either way but who doesn't like it when it's free right? :) Anyway, overall it's such a treat with the food, the service, the visit of the museum! I like the brand but it's not like I go nuts about them, but it is such a treat overall and nice to see a museum that's not more Medici and church! Don't waste your time or money! I honestly don't even know where to start on this. I guess I'll start with the good stuff... our 2nd waiter was great, the birthday treat they gave my mom was cute and the cheese plate was actually really great. BUT, these things do not make up for all the BAD during our experience. I went there with my mom, sister and aunt while vacationing to celebrate my mom's birthday. After a few minutes the waitress asked what we wanted to order. I ordered: Cheese plate: really good with great selections and an awesome apple mustard marmalade. Burratina beet salad: it was paired with a carrot purée and had no flavor at all! Tortellini: I could only taste the pecorino cheese sauce. It was easy too salty because it was just the cheese. No real flavor because it was over powered by the salt from the cheese. Additionally, I wanted to order a bottle of wine so I asked the waitress to make a recommendation that would compliment most of the dishes that we were ordering - which she did. I don't remember the name but it was an 80 euro bottle. When she came back, she had two bottles the one we decided on and a "cheaper" version. She comes to the table and says "here's the one you order but this other one is cheaper"! I was so offended. I've never been to a restaurant where someone tried to down sell me. I don't know if she didn't think I could afford the other bottle or if she was just trying to flat out embarrass me but it was the WOrRST dinner experience. She poured a taste and I actually sent the bottle back - I'm not sure if she poured the original one or the cheaper version but I think the bottle was corked - she was mad! And, the we got randomly got a different waiter. Overall, it was a strange experience and I wouldn't recommend it at all. Honestly, I'm surprised that Chef Massimo is associated with this place! Excellent lunch, followed by 5- course tasting menu. First appetizer tostada with fish was so delicious. Soup and risotto as well, last but no least was the burger, so delicate and delicious. read more
