We have loved Guasaca for many years since they opened their first location so were excited when they opened this one closer to our house. We visited last night and received the same great food and service. I ordered the bowl with shredded chicken. Great portion size and the ingredients are always so fresh and flavorful. The mix of flavors from sweet plantains, caramelized onions and the cilantro sauce just put it over the top. So fortunate to have this local chain in the Triangle. read more

Got a steak arepa w/plantains tomatoes onions and guasaca (yum) and hubby got a salad with grilled chicken, beans, rice , onions, tomatoes and cilantro dressing. Husband goes there often to get out of the office and grab lunch since he works nearby. He has talked about it so often I decided to try it out. It's such a new-to-me concept and the menu was huge I almost got overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. He recommended the guasaca beef and the guasaca chicken. Glad he did. Two come with a drink and it's perfect to save one for dinner. Kinda like two meals for one price- and a very reasonable price at that! The employees are a little flat- very little eye contact and they give off very few smiles on their own. I usually have to initiate. They're most likely shy, so I'll give them a pass. Wish they offered caffeine-free Diet Coke. Or maybe even Sprite Zero. Basically a carbonated drink without caffeine or sugar would be nice!but other than that- love the food! read more

Unfortunately, after waiting a long time for this location to open, complete letdown. Drove all of the way (30+ minute drive) and we will not return. They were completely out of the crispy chicken, said it would be a wait...we arrived around 11:15 and they did not have a main protein ready? Chose the grilled chicken (not first choice), salad, plantains, corn and asked for crumbled feta. I was told that I cannot get feta because it's only for another entree, not for a salad. I said, I cannot have feta? The manager (?) said well, you can but we'll charge you $1.50 extra. Huh? Why put it out with other ingredients if you don't allow it? Found the manager to be somewhat rude, maybe just an off day for him. His interaction with the young man who started preparing my meal seemed a bit unfriendly. The honey bbq sauce was unbelievably sweet, almost sickeningly sweet. Offered my meal to my husband, he did not like any of the flavors, either. Parking a bit crowded, there are a few businesses here and not a lot of parking. Restaurant itself was spotless, very bright and cheerful. Just not for us. I'm sure others might have a better experience. We'll stick to Cava right across the street. read more

While watching our grandson a couple of nights in Raleigh, we took the easy route and ate out each night. The first night we did some sub sandwiches, and while I was picking those up, I noticed Guasaca. Seemed like a great choice for our 2nd night dinner. Wasn't a bad choice, and it was different. We did a couple of the half bowl & arepa combos, going with shredded chicken and grilled chicken. They were both okay, but the arepa's were a little more messy than I expected. They have a really large menu (maybe too large), so I wouldn't be opposed to trying it again. read more

Very Disappointed..2nd time her and still not great food and service is terrible. Absolutely LOVE the Lake Boone location and eat there often. This location on Spring Forest is not the same, employees are very rude and impatient and actually "huff" when you say they have put in something wrong. Definitely will never return to this location. I won't eat here again. Terrible customer service and rude staff member. I arrived and purchased my dinner on Tuesday between 8:30-8:45pm. Left a tip. Dined in. Store closed at 9pm. I hadn't finished my dinner by that time but figured, hey, I patronize this business regularly, it's ok to finish my dinner. I was wrong. At 9:01, the staff turned on music then turned the volume to max. Two elderly women immediately left the building. I asked the young female staff member to turn the music down, I was told "we're closed". I repeated the question and was told emphatically "we're closed"! So my money and tip are only convenient when it's on the staffs terms. Not the customers. I've dined at this place many times. The food is decent and staff is generally friendly. But the nasty display of customer disrespect was enough to permanently change my mind about this place. You'll never get the chance to earn my business and respect again. I love Guasaca, the food is fresh and flavorful. I ordered a bowl with rice, lettuce, salmon, corn, plantains, pico, caramelized onions, and a yellow plain arepa on the side. Total was $16 and change before tip. I'm just disappointed with the amount of salmon and lettuce that was put in the bowl every time I go, I got more pico than anything. I requested strawberries and was told that I couldn't add it because it's only for a specific salad. Every time I come here, the staff is welcoming and the food is always fresh, also the place is kept clean very well.

This place is the bomb ! This is a new location , but I've been going to the one off lake boome trail for YEARS . When I tell you this place NEVER disappoints. Went here on a whim when my wife recommended I try something out of my usual norm. It didn't disappoint and after a second time back today I had to share my experience. Food is fresh and full of flavor. Best chips and spicy orange salsa is on point! Loved the Barbacoa I had the first time and the grilled chicken the second time. I have been to a number of Guasaca locations, and the one on Springforest Road needs to improve. The quality of the food is good, but the amount put into the arepas has been going down. I get the avocado chicken signature arepa and over the last three or four visits (we go weekly) the amount put into the arepas has gone down by almost half. Checked out this location and it did not disappoint! I am not new to the amazing food from this quick and casual restaurant. I typically stop by when I want something quick when I am running errands. This location is the newest of the rest but has the same menu and food. The parking lot is very interesting. It's almost like it's positioned in a roundabout. So while parking is plenty, I wouldn't recommend parking near the roundabout to avoid any accidents. My go to menu item is the arepa. It doesn't matter what kind you get as they are all good. They include fresh and hot ingredients as well. My favorites are the salmon and vegetarian arepas. They have sides as well in you're super hungry but the arepas are very filling. They also have rice bowls that you can customize to your preference. Don't forget to ask for sauce too! They have all options from sweet, savory, and spicy. The service is always quick which I appreciate when I'm on the go. read more

I have never been to this chain before and I was in the area so I decided to try it out. I ordered a steak bowl which came to around $16. Now for the review. The food was bland. Literally no flavor at all in anything. My bowl had various different toppings but it literally tasted like nothing. I got a garlic sauce on top and honestly I couldn't taste it. The steak was dry, overcooked almost. The best thing was the plantains which were cooked well and delicious. I've seen the superb reviews for other locations so I'm not sure if it was just due to the location. For the price of what I paid here I could have went to chipotle or cava and actually enjoyed my food. Definitely not worth $16. read more

I have been to this place twice now since it opened. Parking is not ideal; the lot is a weird shape and always packed. People were parked illegally and it was hard to get in and out. I wound up parking way down the block to avoid the mess. The restaurant itself was busy with a pretty good size line but the staff was good getting everyone thru. I ordered a vegetarian arepa and beef arepa. You get a certain number of toppings (3 or 4) but they also have recommended toppings for each type of arepa, and I just got that rather than choosing my own. There is a little outdoor seating area in the shade that was comfortable and I sat there. No one had cleaned it so there was leftover food bags etc. on the empty tables which I had to clean myself. (People are supposed to throw away their own trash but didn't.) Beef arepa was very good, tasty with good texture. I liked it and would happily eat another. However, the vegetarian arepa was just a soggy gross mess of ingredients, mostly watery black beans. It was tasteless and I did not finish it. Soda was $3 from the fountain, so two arepas and a soda with tax and tip was almost $20. All in all, it was an ok meal. I may go back now and then. read more

It was definitely overpriced. The arepa itself were SO salty and did not taste good. I got the shredded chicken and it didn't have much flavor at all. I also ordered the chips and salsa to go with my arepa. The chips were not too bad but the salsa tasted almost sweet, I did not care for it at all. I couldn't really taste the cilantro in the cilantro sauce either. Great location just not great food. I should have saved money and eaten somewhere else. read more

The food is good, but every time I come in, I have to brace myself for how bad the service is. The employees are rude and don't seem to care about the customers. Both times I asked a question about some thing on the menu I'm not familiar with, I got blank stares from the few employees not checking their phones.
