I'm a big Guasaca fan but this was my first visit to this location. The servers were so friendly and helpful. I ordered a bowl with shredded chicken and the guy working behind the counter offered me all the possible options to go in it. I went with caramelized onions, plantains, black beans, pinto beans, pico, cheese, salsa and their delicious cilantro sauce. It was absolutely amazing -- everything cooked perfectly with so much flavor, and a good portion size.

Salmon Arepa

One of my favorite spots to go in Raleigh when I want something quick and savory. The salmon arepa is the best thing on the menu in my opinion!!! Personally, I add brown rice to it with no cheese to make it complete. Absolutely love it. The grilled chicken arepa is great as well, just not better than the salmon. 10/10

The service was a fast assembly line system with a friendly staff. The music playing enhanced the Latin American ambiance. This food is reasonably priced ans DELICIOUS. I love the avacodo chicken Aerpa. They look small but they are jam packed. I just needed to buy one to fill me up for lunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating available and packing in the Target store deck or parallel road side.

Quick and courteous service. The restaurant is clean but needs some TLC. The arepas were okay, nothing extraordinary. But will definitely recommend if you want something quick and not expensive.

1 BBQ Chicken Arepa and 1 Vegetarian Signature Arepa

I absolutely love guasaca. I think they're the perfect place for a super delicious quick bite or meal because the arepas are very filling and the prices are great. Everything here is good- the salads, bowls, arepas, and even their guacamole and chips. They are definitely in the running for one of the best guacamole's around. Very flavorful, fresh, and has all the ingredients it should have. The bowls are healthy and satisfying and so are the salads. They have something here for everybody- vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian- it doesn't matter. Their best 2 arepas to me is the new barbecue chicken and the salmon. Ever since they came out with the barbecue chicken I actually haven't had anything else. The toppings for each different arepa are already pre-chosen but you can customize it however you want. One arepa with some chips and guac is enough to fill you but definitely try more! 10000/10 pictures don't do it justice.

I have had their arepas before twice, and absolutely loved it! This time, asked for a bowl and it did not disappoint! Tasted really fresh and amazing!

Good for what it is. Latino sandwich/bowl shop adjacent to NC State. Staff was friendly and efficient. Indoor and outdoor seating. Place was clean. Unique place to get cuisine otherwise unavailable. Prices are college town. Well worth a look if you are looking for something a little different but still delicious.

Vegan arepa sweet plantain, portabella, black beans, peppers, onions

It amazes me how they can pack that much nutrition into a corn cake and make it soooo delicious. While running an errand in the area I stopped in for a quick lunch and decided on the vegan arepa. There were quite a few people in line from NC State and the cashier moved the line quickly. The vegan arepa surprised me ! It was packed with red pepper, black beans, green pepper, portabella mushrooms, sweet plantain. It's like a sweet fajita ! It was so good and priced just right at $4.00. Great nutrition for the value ! What I loved most of all? They're hiring and advertise tuition discount programs for the students applying ! I'll be back !

Very tasty, filling, fresh, and fast. I like the arepas but prefer the bowls more just because you can get a mix of everything on them and they're super filling. It's easy to go low carb here just get bowl with no rice and beans. I mostly get the machada which is shredded beef, it's very flavorful, but everything is good here. Get the guasaca it's totally worth it. I like spicy food so I order their spiciest sauce, every time. Its orange, has a decent flavor, and a medium high kick. Every time, the person at the counter stresses how hot it is(even for them) and asks me multiple times if I'm sure. I guess it's probably because I'm a white guy with freckles and a red beard. So I promise them I want it and even ask for extra and use it all. I still add a little of my much hotter sauces if I take it back to my office. I like that they carry chipotle Tabasco because the taste is really good. I wish they had some other regional hot sauces that represent their origins.

After the gym I decided to try something that I could fuel up on. It was pretty late in the evening (8:30pm) so I decided to try Guasaca and try to keep things a bit healthy. Around this time of the evening it was pretty chill and calm so I ordered immediately. I ordered a bowl (brown rice, grilled chicken, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole) ($9.45) and I also ordered a crispy chicken avocado ranch salad arepas ($4.95) . Amazing. This was my first time ever having an arepas and it is so good. The dough texture that the the food is placed in tastes similar to a biscuit without the thickness to it. The combination of that with the chicken and avocado ranch salad is so tasty. I highly recommend any one to try an arepas if you've never had one. The bowl was also good as well. The chicken wasn't dry, the rice wasn't hard or old and the ingredients were all pretty fresh in my opinion. I was highly impressed with my bowl from Guasaca and I definitely want more lol No shade but this entire meal was the same price as a bowl from chipotle so if you ever are looking for alternatives or just want to try a different bowl, here you go.

I love a Guasaca and am happy there are two locations near me. My first visit to the Hillsborough location. Thanks for supporting Broughton High School. What a delicious easy fund raiser. We were not disappointed in the quality of food and healthy choices available. I love a bowl while my sons selects a different signature arepa at every visit. With Covid finding parking was not a problem. Highly recommend this Venezuelan change of pace!

It did not disappoint. He knew what to order so that helped. If I went in by myself I would be so overwhelmed. The staff is quiet. They're not the most helpful but not rude either. Just there to fill your order when you figure things out. The helpings are more than enough. Two arepas are hard for me to finish in one setting. The only downside to saving for later is they get kinda soggy so you cannot eat them neatly with your fingers later after you warm them up. But they still taste so good! The ambiance is typical fast-food feel. I like being able to get refills on my drink on my own while I'm dining in instead of having to go to the counter and wait in line to ask for one. Tables seem to be wiped down and maintained in-between customers which is nice too.

Gluten free options are always a lighter and a less heavy option, in my option. This is one of the perks. I tried the La Tica (chicken) and the La Surena (bbq). I enjoyed the chicken. Very flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the bbq - a bit on the dry side for me. The chicken was delicious but the cheese could've been melted and I would've preferred my food on the warmer side. Giving Grace with 4*, perhaps I tried this too late in the evening. Maybe these are intended to be served that way I received them. I do recommend Arepa Culture NC but I'd recommend go at opening or before lunch time for freshness. The rice and beans were good. The peach juice was okay.

The workers seemed slightly slower than the other location I have been to. No biggie. Finally, when it was my turn to order, the guy motioned to me and said something (I couldn't understand him, but it was obvious he wanted me to place my order) so I started my order and then he mid-sentence of me saying the order, he looked down at the monitor and said "one minute" as an online order came in and he started to proceed to make THAT order as I stood there waiting to finish my order. I am not thinking the world should revolve around me at all, but I have also learned that in customer service the person in front of you should be the priority. So finally, I placed my order and moved on through to the cashier. She had ZERO smile and ZERO eye contact. I pride myself on being a cheerful, polite person who also tries to give a genuine smile. She seemed to be tired and definitely didn't want to be there. I had to WAIT to pay bc she was turned waiting for something. No explanation like, "I'll be able to get your payment in just a second" or anything of the sort. The food was delicious, nonetheless. The lighting at night inside is a little too much on the cool side. We decided to take our order to go. Will we be back? yes, but to the Spring Forest Road location instead. the staff is friendlier and way faster!

Rating based on: Consistency, Cleanliness, Quality, Taste, and Presentation…read more Let me be REAL with you....I walked into Che Empanadas thinking this was some ordinary empanada spot. I was magnificently WRONG. This place is absolutely BANGING, and I'm so glad I found it tucked away here in Raleigh, NC. First up, the Beef Empanada. Listen. The meat is juicy, tender, seasoned with what I can only describe as impeccable love. The crust? Flaky, moist, golden perfection. Ground beef, onions, peppers, olives....every bite hits different. You can TELL they put their heart into this.... Then I tried the Dino Cheese....a scrumptious four-cheese blend wrapped in that same magnificent golden crust, dipped in their Chimichurri sauce, and oh my GOD. The flavor combo is luscious beyond words. That chimi hits like a flavor bomb and elevates every single bite. Now let me keep it honest with you because you know I'm a REAL one....in the pictures, the empanadas look a lot bigger than what they are in person. But with that said, if you have the urge to put up a couple extra dollars, this experience is WORTH it. Every. Single. Penny. The Knish....a Jewish-Argentinian classic with homemade potato and caramelized onion wrapped in flaky dough....MELTS in your mouth. I'm telling you, it's worth the drive alone. Scrumptious doesn't even begin to cover it. And the sweets? The Cubana....guava and cream cheese pastry....is luscious, buttery, and hits that perfect sweet spot. The Alfajor de Chocolate....dulce de leche sandwiched between crispy chocolate wafers and dipped in chocolate....absolutely MAGNIFICENT. Sumptuous is right. I tried about 80% of the menu and everything was delicious. And believe me, I KNOW good bakeries. I grew up a few blocks from Delancey Street in NYC....you feel me? I've been to more bakeries than I can count, and Che Empanadas? It takes the cake. The presentation is clean, the packaging is on point, and you can taste the authenticity in every bite. This isn't some mass-produced nonsense....this is handcrafted, Argentine soul food done RIGHT. Do yourself a favor. Go. Now. RIGHT NOW.. for a religious experience and I don't even care if you're atheist or not this place will blow your mind away.!

Che Empanadas is located inside Transfer Co. Food Hall on the southern edge of downtown Raleigh…read more Coming from North Raleigh, it's a bit of a trek, but Transfer Co. has become a regular destination for us despite the drive. Parking can usually be found outside, but on the Sunday morning we visited, the lot and nearby street spaces were full. I circled back to Chavis Way, where parking is more reliable, and from there a short trail leads straight into the food hall. There was no line, and our order was taken promptly. We started with: Bacon, Egg & Cheese Empanada Sausage, Egg & Cheese Empanada At $9.20 + tax and tip for two, it was a light but flavorful start. The empanadas were so good that we each went back for another round, bringing the total to $18.40 + taxes and tip for two empanadas each which was plenty of food for breakfast. The empanadas themselves were excellent: flaky crusts, generous fillings, and thoughtful seasoning. Both flavors were outstanding, and in past visits we've had the same experience with other varieties. Seating was plentiful inside the hall, and water is available in the center. Servie is prompt and friendly. In my opinion, these are the best empanadas in the triangle, and maybe the best we've ever had. Highly recommended.
