Had the Carne Asada. The meat was so tough I had trouble cutting it with my knife. Way overcooked and could barely chew it. Came with yellow spanish style rice and some version of their refried beans which seemed diluted due to the color being very light and texture super thin. Nothing on my plate seemed seasoned at all. At first glance you may steer clear of this gem due to the lights and location. But obviously the locals know best. I am in Nanuet for work and I asked the guy at the desk of the hotel where I could get the best enchiladas he sent me here. The parking is a little tight as the location is in a strip mall style location. When I walked in I was greeted and welcomed. I ordered a margarita. They don't give you some crappy sour mix lime drink with a shot --- they give you a real margarita like one you would get in Progresso. I ordered the enchiladas with beef in them. The staff is welcoming and the interior gives a reminiscent feel of Mexico. The tacos are delicious. I am a huge fan of their soups and the salsa is one of the best I've had this side of the Hudson. It's quaint but almost always packed. With that said, the establishment does observe COVID guidelines with social distancing and seating patrons a suitable distance away from one another. The torta de milanesa de pollo is the best torta I've ever had. I pick this up for lunch every so often and it really just makes my day. The chicken is very juicy and the breading is wonderful, the beans are so flavorful, and the acidity and crunch from the pickled jalapenos really just tie it all together. The service is very quick and the staff is very friendly!  I love the design of the restaurant, it's very pretty and you feel like you're in Mexico! Outside is sketchy looking but once inside I was pleasantly surprised! Decor was awesome I felt I was somewhere else and not in NY. My new go to spot for before a rockland boulder game. I've never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant. The food was terrible. Our server did not make the attempt to understand our requests and had no interest in trying. Food wasn't great I was ready to just chalk it up as another bleh restaurant but once we requested our check she told us she put it all on one and refused to separate the bill. We explained several times that we needed it separated and she still refused saying she could only divide the total amongst to table... which was completely unfair to those who didn't even order that much food! That said, I'll let you in on a little secret...you won't have to climb a "huuuge" wall to have some of the best tacos North of the US/Mexico border. You can do that in Rockland County. What? What? What? I ordered two chicken and two shrimp tacos for a quick bite to eat for lunch. I know....I know already! I should have had at least one taco "al pastor" but I'm cutting back on red meat. Don't be judgy! At a cost of $13, they were well portioned, fresh and delicious. Sorry but for those of you used to enormous tacos found at Chili's or Taco Bell you're in for a rude awakening. No giant tacos overflowing with sour cream and cheddar cheese to be found on the menu....again sorry. Here the fresh pico and salsa had the perfect heat and were neatly packaged along w fresh lime. Defintly the best margaritas around. They use real juice and real lime and lemon; none of that syrup crap. The margaritas taste super light; before you know it your feeling a buzz. The comp salsa and chips are great. Nice homemade spicy salsa, and non-greasy chips. If you want authentic tacos, this is where to get them. Try all four; chorizo, al pastor, bistec, and pork; they even have tongue. The place is located in a crappy looking shopping center, when you walk in you completely forget that your in spring valley. I will not give this restaurant anything less than 5 stars, because their food is absolutely stellar. I have lived in Houston and if you've lived down south you know they have some of the best authentic mexican restaurants. This is one that can go head to head with those restaurants in Houston. But today's order pick up was a mess. The lady that packed it did not give me the sauce for the Taco and also didn't pack a spoon for the dessert. Also the flan dessert was not packed properly , so the whip cream was all over the place and plus the container was placed on top of the taco container which is not good because the dessert can get warm if it's above a hot container. Anyway, if I hadn't checked, I would have had a bad night after spending hard earned money for authentic Mexican food. Lesson? - Check your food before you go . This seems to happen to us allot; we get the family packed in the car, drive to one of our favorite spots, only to see it's closed, under renovation, or has an hour long wait. This time, we usually head over to El Banditos for Mexican, but there was a huge party thus a long wait. So we went next door to a strip mall and found this quaint Mexican restaurant & bar. The wooden decor was rustic, and made you feel welcome. We had friends with us so we were a party of 9, and they were able to seat us right away. It was obvious the English is a second language with the staff, but it was not a problem. The kids had a chicken soup which came with generous pieces of chicken, large chunks of vegetables, and a smooth, not-to-salty broth. Not familiar with their menu, I asked the wonderful waitress what she recommended, which was the Bistic Tapatio which comes smothered in an abodo chipolte sauce that seriously can be eaten off of anything! It's the only dish I order now and is just as good to go. Their tacos are super authentic, highly recommended, and served with plenty of extra fixins on the side. We load up on a special requested Green sauce which is a salsa verde sauce mixed with avocado--it's truly divine! We go there often as they are open late, and picking up food to go is a breeze. They may not give out all the free food like El Bandito's, and the location is slightly sketchy, but their food is some of the best Mexican that you're going to find over the New York border. Our entire bill for 9 guests came out under 100$--with drinks and beer, so its truly scrumptious and satisfying at a price that allows you to visit often with a huge crowd and not bust the bank. read more

Is a cool place to try when you want to come and eat fast without the waiting too long yet get quality food. I would recommend it to anybody in the area if you're outside the area it may still be worth the drive I would set the five miles maximum, I would not do more than that then. This is our go-to place to get Mexican. You can't get more authentic than here. My family and I have been eating at Guadalajara for way over 20 years. We are foodies and always welcome to try new restaurants but in the end, Absolutely NO other Mexican restaurants can top here. The Shrimp soup is to die for - perfect spiciness with a good deep flavor. Guacamole that comes in a good portion and the right amount of chunkiness. The service is great and the owner is super friendly. We travel a bit far away (around 40 minutes up in Orange County) and it's always worth the drive down! read more

I decided to go in and, WOW, i was in this amazing restaurant! We had an array of dishes and they were all delicious. The shrimp with salsa verde was incredible. What a great authentic Mexican place in Spring Valley! They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa AND tiny chorizo tacos! The prices are very reasonable - the tacos are $1.95 each, tortas are $5.95, and most entrees were between $9.95 and $13.95. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken and beef flautas, which were very good! The service was quick and our waitress was attentive. While the storefront and location leave much to be desired, the decor inside the restaurant felt very authentic and cozy. A local family-run Mexican restaurant. Fresh, authentic food - not chain-style. Most of the typical Mex dishes - tacos, enchiladas, tortas, etc. The chilaquiles were a fried type that I hadn't had before, but good - a dish not available everywhere. Salsas and pico de gallo were tasty and fresh. Service is attentive. Overall pleasant and a good value if you like authentic Mex. Their idea of a burrito is two small tortillas with some meat inside. I had carnitas and my wife had one of the chicken dishes which was actually very good, just not hot.
