We ordered the Steak a la Nayarita and Chicken Con Mole, both were to die for. We love Mexican food and decided to go there on Valentine's Day for a more intimate experience. We were glad we went because they really made it special. They were so welcoming, decorated the place nicely with flowers, and they kindly offered my partner a rose before we left. We're all about supporting local businesses and we love it when we find these gems. We highly recommend this restaurant. I am confident that anything you order there will be fantastic. As far as the location goes, I must say they have very limited parking spots(but we found a spot). Parking spots were tight. However, there is ample parking at the big box store across the street, and they are on a bus line. They are not near other restaurants but stand out based on the loud Mexican music and big sign that has a Mexican flag Over all the service was friendly, attentive, and quick(especially considering how packed it was) They give nachos on arrival, sort of like how restaurants normally give bread, which were okay , but the salsa was bland. The lime margarita was amazing. I got the beef enchiladas, which were tender and loaded with food didn't quite pack the punch I was hoping for. My mom and my wife got the nachos with chicken;they didn't like it. So I tried it to confirm the following: the nacho platter with chicken was bland, with very little crunch. It looked like it was sitting around for a while as far as value goes, my wife's beer was more expensive than my margarita, which is a plus if you are an alcohol drinker like me but not for a beer drinker, obviously. The portions on my plate were small, but there were so many different items on the plate that blended together fairly well that the small portions didn't matter too much. And lastly, the smell of the place was nonexistent, which is odd IMO for a small restaurant.

My best friend and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays together, as we have been doing every year for eons. It ended up being in August this year. I did a search and found Los Cabos Cantina & Grill. I liked what I saw and sent her a link to the vegan menu. She was down going here. We came here after waiting for the thunderstorms to die and a good afternoon of retail shopping therapy. We drove over here in our vehicles. I actually missed the right turn into the parking lot. I did quite the 360-degree turn into the parking lot to fix my boo-boo. I nabbed the closest spot to the back of the eatery. My friend was parked further back. We grabbed our birthday presents and walked in. The patio with floral accents looked lovely to enjoy a dining experience when we aren't under an orange alert for hail and thunderstorms! We were promptly greeted by a young woman. She said that there was only bar seating. It was fine. We got a cozy corner table. I got booth seating. I'm 5'10" and my feet did not touch the ground. My friend is a bit shorter than I am, so I'm glad that we sat where we were. Anthony was our server. He was exceptionally attentive and answered all questions that we had about our drinks and food. My friend got these items: - Water - Pina colada mocktail - Vegan ensenada enchilada The pina colada mocktail is vegan. She loved it. It looked yummy and festive. The downside was that a female staffer, maybe the manager, came over and said that there was no vegan cheese. It was a downer. It was 5:30 pm on a Saturday night. As an eatery with a vegan menu with cheese in many dishes, wouldn't you have stocked up and planned a lot better? She stood there with a smug expression on her face. Okay, so there aren't any alternatives? It felt awkward. Anthony jumped in. He said that he would bring more vegan sour cream. That was better, although my friend would have wanted the vegan cheese. It's the only reason for taking a star off my rating. No vegan cheese for a vegan menu with items containing cheese is sad. My friend asked me if I read Yelp reviews before I visit a place. I typically don't. However, after not having any vegan cheese, I read them. We are probably the only folks who have experienced this issue, as Yelpers haven't experienced a shortage of it. Anyway, she loved her vegan enchilada plate despite not getting any vegan cheese. It looked amazing. She was stuffed and said that it was yummy. I ordered these items: - Diet Pepsi - Big D's burrito platter with shredded chicken I was thankful that I didn't have a large lunch and that we didn't order appetizers. The burrito was massive. It looked like a log in front of me, with rice, refried beans, and cheese, all bundled in a flour tortilla. My friend asked if the log had cheese on top. It was ancho mayo, which provided a smoky, tangy taste to each burrito bite that I had. It was delicious. The shredded chicken was tender. Everything in the burrito was perfect. It took me a long time to finish it. This platter had refried beans, rice, and salsa. I felt like I got twice the amount of refried beans and rice in this dish. It was extremely filling and flavourful. My friend asked me how many Diet Pepsi drinks I got. I kind of lost track. Shopping makes me thirsty. I also needed to down this massive burrito with a beverage or many. I think I had four drinks. It may be a record. Each one was cold, fizzy, and the perfect amount of syrup. We opened our presents. It was nice doing it in a quiet, practically private corner. It was the perfect place to celebrate us and catch up. My friend using the washroom first shortly after we had sat down. I went towards the end of our meal. The women's washroom is by a small wall smack between the dining and bar areas. It's a single stall. Clean. No complaints. Anthony was great. He always made sure we were good. We paid at the table. He brought dual payment machines. Nice! We talked about my friend's plans to go camping. It led to talking about seeing bears and moose. I have seen both, but on road trips in Manitoba and Ontario. Despite the vegan shortage, we had a fabulous time. The food was delicious and fabulous. Our server was excellent. (346)

But..... my gosh. The dishes looked nice. My niece said her food was okay. Her cousin said his food was overcooked. My dish was trash, my gosh, I couldn't stomach the taste. The salmon was tough, tasted bad, rank. The seasoning was weird and didn't pair well. It had some kinda spice that tasted odd. I don't even know what to say about it. But later that night I was throwing up well into the morning. I only eat possibly 3-4 small bites, most of the dish was left back. I still tipped and didn't complain as I just wanted the kids to have a nice night without arguing with whoever. As I write this I am reminded of the disgusting taste. NEVER again for that dish! Now that I think about it I honestly shouldn't have tipped. Paying for that dish was already above and beyond!

Tonight was the first night that I was introduced to the "extra charge". I wanted extra beans and the worker informed me it was an extra charge. I asked about the burrito bowl and was told again that one scoop is allotted (as it's a green bowl, meaning you get lettuce instead) and every additional scoop is an additional charge. I'm sorry, but that's the first time I heard of that. Last time I went in, I ordered one of each with the aforementioned "extras" and that worker gave them, no additional charges mentioned at all. It was just a shock. And it's a shock that it's also not on their menu somewhere. Ignoring that, the burrito tasted great. It was a good blend. The reason why it lost 2 stars is because of the churro and chips and salsa. The churro was dry and hard and dry. The chips were stale. I popped by at 7:30pm, so maybe the problem was that I grabbed those items later in the day? I dont know, but they were bad.
