It is a good place for a quick meal. It is bar food so was just ok. Would not seek this place out but we stayed near it so I would go again if staying near. Big turnoff was the waiter at the next table decided to gripe about politics and how he hated Florida Governor. He was very loud. Place wasn't really busy, but had only one server for the whole dine in section. I think she forgot to pick up my plate, as another person delivered it and asked me if this was my order. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, this is more like a three and half star place. The parking sucks! The handicap parking space is in a great location. Right in front of the door, but good luck getting out of it if either US1 or the place is busy. We were just lucky both US 1 and the restaurant were not very busy. Surprisingly, the restaurant is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. It is clean, and the view of the marina outside is nice. The service is pretty good and the service was really friendly. The food, it's not bad, but not anything special. It's similar to so many other restaurants. As far as what we had, the best thing was the macaroni and cheese. My wife and daughter really loved it. We started with potato skins, and those were also really good. I had a club sandwich, and the bread wasn't super thick, so it didn't fill me up halfway through eating it. It was also lightly toasted and not burnt. The most important thing was that I enjoyed it, but the onion rings came out luke warm as did my daughter's tater tots, my wife's fries, and grilled dolphin sandwich. My wife also told me she would have liked it better if the fish filet would have been a short, thick filet as opposed to being long and thin. All and it wasn't bad. read more

Stopped in with my daughter for burgers. The bartender , Suzanne was amazing!! We watched her attend to everyone without slowing down. She greeted everyone with a smile and kept checking on everyone at the bar . The burgers were great but the experience was made so much better by the fabulous customer service. They have a $10 lunch special which I have been ordering for about 2 months and getting it to go. Today I was overcharged and asked the waitress. She told me the lunch special is only for eat in customers and that the manager rang it up. It doesn't say anything on the chalkboard about that, and when I ordered I asked for the lunch special Cheeseburger, so why wasn't I told then ?? I also just checked the specials online and nope nothing there either so I guess this will be my last time going there. read more

Came to check out the new Grumpy Gary's at Dockers. I've never been here before, but I was told that the decor is much nicer than it used to be. We started out at the bar during happy hour. They were out of Miller light and I don't drink Bud Light so I opted for a Mojito. It was quite tasty. Then I ordered the tuna poke appetizer. It was beautiful, but the tuna was not that fresh. Then we moved to the high tops. I tried the chicken tenders with fries. They were fresh and tasty. The service at the bar was a lot better than it was at the tables. It seems like they are still ironing things out at this new location. The music was good although quite loud, hard to talk to people at the same table. The crowd was nice. Friendly people, mostly locals. The prices are fair. Parking is a challenge. read more

Ordered pick up as this place was recommended to have good burgers. When I received my voodoo burger I was given a soggy bottom bread with an overly pink burger when it was ordered medium well. The blue cheese was half way on the burger the other half was thrown in the plate sloppy. I ordered a side Caesar salad as well and was given no dressing. When I returned for my order to be corrected I was given an attitude as it was an inconvenience to be served correctly & the place was not very busy what so ever. Amazing! They went so beyond for our group. We showed up with 6 adults and 4 boys, during the Christmas holidays, without a reservation and they were busy as all high h3¡¡. They went out of their way to set up a table for our group. Liz, really stepped up and assisted us in such a wonderfully calm way! She is amazing. I was dissapointed with my old fashioned, but the service is so amazing that I've already dismissed it and moved on. The fish and chips get a 7/10, and the taco appetizers, Mahi and blackend shrimp, were a hit with my wife. read more

Worst Dining Experience Ever! I don't even know where to begin with how terrible my experience at Grumpy's Gary's Bar and Grill was. From the moment I walked in, I was hit with the most awful, grumpy atmosphere. It felt like everyone there was annoyed to be doing their job, including the staff, which made the whole vibe super uncomfortable. The service was beyond frustrating. Our bartenders were inattentive and rude, and it felt like they couldn't care less about us as customers. We had to practically beg for attention and honestly did not want a refill due to the condition of the bar. Speaking of the food--it was honestly disgusting. Cold, bland, and poorly prepared. I've had better meals from a microwave at home. Definitely not what I was expecting, especially for the price. On top of all that, I was slapped with an auto-gratuity that was completely unnecessary. There was nothing about the service that deserved a tip, and it felt like a total scam. Lastly, the music was ridiculously loud for such a small space. It was almost impossible to have a conversation without shouting over the blaring tunes. It made the whole experience even more unbearable. I will absolutely never be coming back to Grumpy's Gary's nor recommending it. There are plenty of other places in town that actually know how to treat their customers and serve decent food. The staff looked annoyed that we were even there. Our server acted irritated when we asked about happy hour, and the bartender looked like they absolutely hated having customers. The whole vibe was uncomfortable. They dropped off waters and then completely disappeared--we waited 15 minutes with no check-in, no order taken, nothing. We were starving, so I finally walked up to ask someone for help, and the server just shrugged it off, saying, "I'm sure she'll be there," without even pretending to care. No apology, no effort--just total indifference. This place is a joke. If you like being ignored and treated like an inconvenience, this is the spot for you. I had a sandwich I have never had before at Grumpy Gary's (grammar mavens: is that without a comma or with, if I mean to say I have never had it at all, not that I've never had it at that venue; I think it is without a comma, since with a comma would suggest it was restricted to the specific place). I cannot recall who said it about what city, but somebody remarked upon all the restaurants there having the same menu, sharing a single kitchen. That was my sense from the rest of what was available, such as conch fritters. I had dined elsewhere the night before. I was looking for lunch before a flight out. I filled up with gas. I glimpsed this place. I was amused by the name. So I went in. They had a surprising number of guests mid afternoon. The view is overlooking a marina. The waitress who served me was busy. She had hurt her knee and was wearing a brace. I mention that to note her dedication; she was so gracious in doing her job despite hobbling along. That is someone deserving of a good tip. I hope she sees this review, and is aware I appreciated her. Although I am trying to eat healthy, being an age when my doctor is warning me about blood pressure and cholesterol, I was intrigued by the fish Reuben with the catch of the day. I picked that. Then, not to skimp if I was indulging -- why not go all out -- I selected the onion rings on the side. The fish Reuben was great. It is exactly what it sounds like. The protein is piscine. The preparation is like a traditional Reuben, with the sauerkraut, the Russian dressing, and the marbled rye. They even have a pickle on the side. I doubt I'll see that again anywhere. I would gladly consume it. The onion rings also were fresh, homemade, and battered not too heavily. Many places have lousy onion rings, either because they must have come from a package frozen, or they are coated with so much flour it will make you gag. These were above average. I had them with ketchup and mayonnaise, respectively. I regretted the calories later on. But not too much. I'd rate it as worth it. Before I tell about our experience let me explain the vibes of this place if anyone cares to know. It's definitely a local place that caters to the older crowd that lives in the area. It's the kind of place you wonder if they'll treat you any different because you're not a local and it's your first time. Well that's exactly what I believe happened. Walked in at 9-35pm tonight. Got menus at 9:40 and were told LITERALLY one minute later that they need us to order cause they close the kitchen at 9:45. I told the woman that came up it's our first time so we just need two minutes and we'd know what to order. Her exact words were "2 minutes is too long." So we left. The service is garbage and you dont treat people like that. Your menu says kitchen is open until 10pm! If that's not the case then don't say that and waste our time. Don't seat us and don't lean over trying to act tough and tell us we have to order now. What I always say about places that treat you without respect is this, "if the service is garbage, the food must be too." There's plenty of other places nearby that don't treat you this way. So my advice is don't go out of your way in the event you get placed in the same situation. read more

My girlfriend and I had a layover in Ft. Lauderdale on our way home. The very first restaurant that popped up when i searched for food was Grumpy Gary's. The story intrigued us, as well as the menu so we decided to go. Quaint, very close to both the beach and airport- clean & tidy. Genuinely nothing off-putting about the place at all. The moment we entered we were warmly greeted by Stacy, the Bartender. We asked for recommendations both for drinks and food- she genuinely did not let us down. The margaritas were made perfectly. The appetizers (Bang Bang Shrimp & the Shrimp Corn Chowder) were AWESOME! She constantly checked on us to make sure our drinks were topped off and that everything tasted good. She also didn't hesitate to converse with us and be an absolute joy. Our entrees came our (Blacked Mahi Mahi & Asian Salmon) with Mac n' Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, and a Caesar Salad. All of which were fresh, flavorful, and really damn good. By this point we were so delighted by the food we wanted to buy a T-Shirt, to which Stacy had no problem trying to find one for us. Then arrives Grumpy Gary himself to chat it up with us in regards to getting a T-Shirt. They didn't have a normal "marketing" T-Shirt for sale- so in lieu of that, they sold us a Staff shirt! (Which for us was even better!) All in all- this place deserves every ounce of love from the community. You could stay at the W on the coast for the best hotel but when it comes to food and good folks this place delivers. The owner seats you personally, the food is cooked to order, and the guests aren't pretentious. We really enjoyed the food and the service. We had coconut shrimp and pretzels as appetizers. Six good sized shrimps and two large pretzels with cheese sauce disappeared before I thought about taking their photo. For dinner we got the grouper with shrimp -asked for seasoned instead of breaded. It was delicious. Mahi mahi was really good too. We stopped in Grumpy Gary's for lunch before dropping friends at the airport. It's cute because it has a boat dock view and airport of five minutes away. My husband's choice of fish pastrami sandwich was the winner here. It was delicious!!! I had fish dip, it was very smoky and salty, more than it's supposed to be. My friends had a burger and the other a fish sandwich all good but nothing special. The service was very slow but pleasant. There were maybe five tables being served and it took a very long time between our order and our food. I would definitely go back as long as I wasn't in a hurry. read more

Being mediocre at best, basic food u can cook for yourself at home without having to pay an arm and a leg for. The service was slow and inattentive.
