After seeing that one of the standard options had cottage cheese, I emailed the company to see if a vegan box was available. Within a few minutes, I heard back that it would be no problem. Yay, just what I like to hear!! Basically, you get a huge box of vacuum sealed Indian food packages with freezer packs to your door. You don't need to be home when it's delivered---just put it all in your freezer before you go to bed that day. (The packages are relatively compact--you won't need to clear out your entire freezer like you would with freshly). My first meal with red kidney beans was great. I followed the directions to a T (1.5 minutes in the microwave for the entree and gravy and 1 minute for the rice) and it was steaming hot. It tasted exactly like Indian food I've had at restaurants and friends' houses. I would fully recommend it! As compared to other services, I found the portions incredibly affordable. I don't know how to make Indian food on my own, so I've traditionally ordered vegan Indian food for $3/a can. I've also ordered takeout for ~$10-15 per person. This comes out much closer to $7-8, especially if you are not an especially voracious eater. Cons: One of the disadvantages is that the directions included with the package can be a bit confusing if you are not super familiar with Indian dishes. I didn't know exactly what the "gravy" was from the "entree" I sent this in the feedback form that rotizen emailed me, so I hope this will be included in future boxes.

First of all. We are absolutely rotten with all the great BBQ options in Houston. I have had them…read moreall (well, most of them-good-bad-cheap-expensive) and I will tell you that Luling is ALWAYS consistent and wonderful BBQ. Don't let the downers get to you. The place is divey but the links, brisket and ribs DO NOT disappoint. The sauce...I could swim in it. Enough said.

I was craving barbecue--specifically lean brisket and a good beef sausage link--and this spot had…read moresolid reviews, so I decided to give it a try. When you walk in, the first thing you see is the bar area. At about 3 p.m., on a Friday, the bar stools were nearly full. One reviewer mentioned that the bar seemed to be the main attraction during their visit, and I can see why. I actually wasn't sure where to go to order food until the bartender pointed me further inside. Behind a wall is the actual ordering line. Even getting started was a little confusing. You grab a tray and the first thing you encounter is the fountain drink machine, which makes it feel like you've skipped a step. Meanwhile the dining area--roughly the same size as the bar area--was practically empty. The whole layout just felt a bit disjointed. The menu also threw me off a bit. Instead of typical barbecue plate options (one-, two-, or three-meat plates with sides), most items are priced by the pound. There was one half-pound meat option with two sides, and thankfully they let me split that between two meats. I ordered lean brisket and a homemade beef link with pinto beans and green beans. The beef link was excellent. The casing had that perfect snap, and the filling was moist and crumbly--the way a good Texas sausage should be. Too many places pack sausage so tightly it eats like baked salami, but this one had great texture and flavor. The brisket, unfortunately, was pretty dry. The pinto beans and green beans were fine--filling, but nothing memorable. And then came the crescendo of the visit: the barbecue sauce. They appear to offer only one sauce, and it tasted strongly mustard-based...which I absolutely detest. What made it even more confusing is that the sauce was a reddish-orange color, which made me assume it was a typical tomato-based BBQ sauce. Nope. If there were other options, they weren't offered or pointed out. One other drawback is how close the bar is to the dining area. Sitting within earshot of some pretty colorful bar conversations while trying to eat was a little off-putting. So overall: great beef sausage, dry brisket, forgettable sides, and a mustard-forward sauce that sealed the deal for me. If there were a traditional sauce option, I might consider coming back. But that mustard-based barbecue sauce? Yeah... that is surely a deal breaker.

I mean my pocket book is probably better for it because I want to buy the whole store but honestly I've been missing out. The place is cute and welcoming from the corner sign on the building to the moment you step in- bright, inviting, great displays so you know where to go. You can't get lost in here with the signage, but you can't definitely get lost in the aisles with all the great, unique choices. The ready food display has so many Mediterranean treats, some I've had before some I've never heard of and everything I tried was amazing. We got the cabbage rolls and Armenian veggie dolmas. Great flavor, both specific items I haven't had before. Nice citrus, spiced flavor to these. I'd say they're have to try items. Not only found jarred tomato paste, which I've been on the hunt for but they had choices in this category and that's another first for me. Will have to go back and try the others. Also got the cured Serrano ham -amazing. And I thought the prices were going to be insane having a spot right in the middle of the city and nope- pleasantly surprised for my goodies, great prices even less than some of the other stores I frequent in the suburbs. I'll be back again and again and again until I try the whole store lol. Definitely give them a try, you won't regret it

Perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior. The sweet potato fries were equally delicious. I got the Hill Country salad. Same tender but crispy chicken on a bed of greens with berries. So good. Definitely bookmarked as a return option.
