Found this nice little food truck in a parking lot on Almeda. The pictures of the food posted on the truck showed all the dishes were made with love so I had to try it out. I opted for the supreme gumbo and it was absolutely amazing. Perfectly seasoned with a nice balance of shrimp, sausage, and chicken. We were sooo excited to try this place, as it had been recommended by a fellow Houston YouTuber. (This was when Supreme Gumbo was in a gas station.) They now have their own stand-alone restaurant, complete with a nicely decked out patio. They still have lots of menu options, but we were here for the gumbo! This was the most confusing eating experience I've ever had. Supreme's gumbo looked like the perfect bowl of Louisiana heaven: nicely colored roux, all the expected floaties like shrimp, chicken, sausage. Nevertheless, the first bite provided nothing but disappointment. The gumbo tastes nothing like gumbo--maybe missing file and even missing some parts of the trinity! What gives? Anyway, we may come again for some of the other items, but their namesake will disappoint anyone who knows Louisiana gumbo. :-( read more

So disappointed. After seeing so many great reviews from day one Ihave been wanting to try the. But didn't feel like waiting in such a long line. I finally made it and there was no line yet I should have kept waiting....Me and my best friend was not happy about this. The gumbo is very salty and the roux taste more like a broth but it is a dark color. The sausage did not taste well cooked. Their "gumbo" taste more like soup with broth than roux. It was salty for my liking and the shrimp had the tail on which makes it harder to eat. The fried fish was very good. The quesadillas were ok. This isn't a review of the food because I've never gotten the opportunity to try it. This is a review of the business and a stark warning to my fellow YELPERS. This location DOES NOT EXIST. I've tried many times in 3rd Ward to give this place a try, but it's always been sold out when I go. So....we drove to this location only to find out it's not there. Even though the hours say they were updated 2 months ago on Yelp so I had high hopes. When we couldn't find the establishment I called the number listed and finally got ahold of someone who sent me the address on McGregor and told me I should have checked Google or FB. Ummmmm.....maybe. Orrrrrr you could be a responsible business owner? Anyway....I hold no ill will and wish the best for the business, although I give up on trying it. I had the hood quesadilla and the gumbo. I ate one and it was pretty good and my son ate the other to and enjoyed it. I was not a fan of the gumbo as it was extremely to thick and peppery. One of the greatest things in the Houston food scene! Delivered BOMB gumbo in mason jars - it doesn't get anymore real than that! You won't find a more authentic gumbo this side of Louisiana I promise you that too. Crab legs, crawfish tales and the roux is just off the meat rack. I have ordered large cup of gumbo (which varies in size depending on the location they're at) but there was no rice or crackers in it or on the side. One time I ordered tacos and quesadillas I got a side dipping of gumbo the second time I did not. THE FOOD IS GOOD! Don't lose that in translation.
