I ordered the fufu and egusi soup on the Uber eats app. It did not disappoint. By far the best egusi soup I've ever had and I've been to several locations that have disappointed me. Super flavorful! The chicken is a bit on the tough side, but I have a few Nigerian friends who also cook their chicken that way, so I assume it's normal. They took too long to prepare my food. It took a whole hour and no one was there except me and my husband. This makes no sense.

It was a total mess. I asked for porridge yam and I'm not sure what they gave me . mashed yam or porridge soup. I'm not sure what to call it. See the attached picture. Great Nigerian cuisine the Jollof rice is authentic and the plantain is to DIEEE for. Family like vibes they are very down to earth.

I've ordered from this business on two occasions via Grubhub. The Egusi soup and Jollof rice were awesome. I got assorted meat and that meat was so tough that I could not eat it. Oh boy were do I begin? I was really craving Egusi soup in the middle of the night and found B's African kitchen. Although I have never heard of it, I still didn't mind taking a chance on a new chef out there. My estimated order was about 45 mins which leads me to believe that orders may be made fresh but unsure. Once the package was safely at my home I devoured it! The Egusi soup was thick enough to the point where I can grab it with my pounded yam but still juicy enough to keep my meat nice and moist! it was so good I devoured it all not leaving anything leftover like I typically do when eating at my normal Houston African restaurants. So disappointed. I've been wanting to try Egusi Soup & Jollof rice for awhile now. I read the reviews. I did not have the experience, of great tasting food. I saw the reviews that said the goat was super tough,leaving it to be inedible. That was true in my case. Also, was the chicken, it wasn't just tough but dry on the outside & inside as well. The Egusi soup, was not a soup, I know that it is not to be watery like Americans are use to calling a soup,i have seen others a bit more sauce but was tasty. The Jollof rice, as another user stated, "meh" no spiciness whatsoever. It is cooked in an apartment highrise,so,parking was not easy to find, barely found metered parking. I've ordered from this place a couple of times now and like the other review said it can take a while for the order to be complete, but the food does taste fresh and has a good taste to it. So far I've ordered the Egusi soup, designer stew, Efo Riro (very tasty), the spicy gizzards, and the Buka stew and I haven't been disappointed with any of them. I have been dying to try west African food for months now. After searching high and low, this was the only one with relatively good reviews that delivered to my area. I called and asked the woman who answered (very nice and helpful) what she recommended, as it was my first time. She suggested the egusi. She went on to tell me that it was a soup and comes with pounded yam aka fufu. I opted for goat meat which was delicious. I'd never had goat before and it didn't disappoint. What did, disappoint, however, is that there was NO soup. Not even a sauce. Nothing. Nada. Nil. Zip. Zilch. In my mind, I had been fantasizing about taking the fufu, slopping up the juicy goodness of the soup with it and eating it with my hands, just like you're supposed to. Instead, I got this spinach mixture and 3 pieces of goat meat on the bone. The flavor was there. Could have been spicier. But it was DEFINITELY NOT SOUP. Which kinda ruined the whole experience for me, to be honest. I read another review as well about someone saying they didn't get any soup. ANYhoo, I shall continue my quest of finding an amazing west African restaurant in Houston, where I can let the fufu soak up alllll the sauce or soup before shoveling it into my mouth as if someone was gonna take it from me. Let me begin by saying the establishment itself was very easy to find. The valet parking attendants were very courteous in allowing us to wait as the chef put the finishing touches on our order. We went with the peppa soup with goat, jollof with chicken, and egusi soup with tilapia. A pleasant man delivered our order to the car with great care and fully masked as CDC guidelines for Covid-19 require. The aroma of the food was heavenly! It was very hot as if fresh out of the pot. By the time we made it back to Humble, it was just the right temperature to dive in and enjoy. Oh and enjoy we did! The peppa soup was EXQUISITE, egusi was DELECTABLE, goat was SENSATIONAL however, the jollof was meh. Could have used a bit more spice. I ordered Egusi soup with pounded yam and zobo. I really enjoyed the egusi soup and unlike other's experiences did not find the consistency off-putting. I liked the ratio of spinach in the soup and found it seasoned well with a pronounced umami flavor. Perhaps the soup has iru/dawa dawa in addition to the seafood seasonings. The goat meat was well flavored and did not have a wild taste. I expect meat in Nigerian dishes to be firmer than in the west but did not find it to be too hard to chew. As an African-American I was raised to like my meat well done and that seems to be consistent in West African cooking - the meat will be cooked through and through. I know that in the west we prefer our meat to fall off the bone though - but I do like a little to chew also. I actually was very impressed with the food and found it to be some of the best I have had in Houston. I hope the quality is as good the next time I order. I would love it if their menu could include bitterleaf soup ( I understand some Nigerians grow it here in Houston) or Edikakong soup. Bitterleaf in egusi soup with goat meat was the first way I had egusi soup in Houston - in the 80's. My husband ordered some food here , the amount of food I was gave was for my 4 year old . We ordered some fish and rice , chicken and rice as well as some soup . They gave me not even half of the container that had some Soup . I called back and ask them where was the rest of my soup the guy said that all that comes with it !! I said are you serious I paid this much for a baby portion of soup ?? He said that what I was told to give ??? There are two people that cook. I don't know their names , but the one that usually cooks my food is the BEST , the spice is just right. The right amount I could eat off it all day and be full! The last time I went there was a different guy , I don't think he knew what he was doing. It literally took three hours for me to get my order which is such an inconvenience. I have to drive 30 minutes just to get to that side of town , every time I went to check on it he would say "this isn't done I need about 30 minutes" I would go back and he would say "I'm just waiting on the meat. Another 30 minutes". I ordered my food around 6 and didn't get it until 9. Once I did get it , I couldn't even eat one of the pieces of meat it was very tough , the egusi it's self had like a sand after taste , there wasn't any spice , he has left fish bones and shrimp shells in it. I didn't even finish it , I didn't want to finish. The next time I go. I'm definitely going to have to see who's cooking first. read more

Ok after having had an amazing experience with the food at Aria Suya, this was a HUGE disappointment from beginning to end. We ordered 2 pepper soup and asked for some white yam to be added. The woman speaking said she had to ask her so called manager and then she texted us that it was fine. About 45 min later she came down, after we had paid $49.80 on CashApp and handed us 2 small packages. I was shocked. I asked her that this is all we get for $50 and she turned her back and walked away. Then we opened the packages and THERE WAS NO SOUP. There was some goat meat in one with maybe 5 tiny pieces of yam. And i mean TINY. And the other one had turkey. We ordered soup and there was no soup. So we went into the building and were told that this food is coming from a private kitchen in an apartment. We called up several times and she finally picked up and came down with an attitude, as before. We showed her there was no soup and she actually said," O so you want me to add water?" I was flabbergasted! I said i wanted soup for 2 people. Just the soup. She went to grab the 2 packages and I said NO just bring me enough soup for 2 people/orders. 10 min later she came down with HALF A CUP OF SOUP. She had nothing to say. Just Sorry and walked away.
