I got the Blackened Salmon with Broccoli and Carrots and it was unbelievably delicious!!! The meal was packaged very nicely! The only feedback I would provide is that there are more nutritional facts. It listed calories, carbs, fat and protein only but even with that, I will definitely return for another meal! read more

I walked into Smart Meals after driving by, looking for something similar to a Snapkitchen for convenience and easy nutrition labeling. Pros: Pre-packed, convenient healthy meals Good discount if you write a Google review ($10 off) Cons: Limited flavor variety Labels lack info about sugar (which is integral to monitoring macros) Price is quite high It was pretty crowded with people coming to buy their week's worth of meals. There isn't a massive variety of flavors - it's mainly different combinations of meat, beans, cheese, and pasta or tortillas. I was hoping to see some Asian flavors but they weren't apparent (at least that day). For all that many other guests note the useful nutritional information, the labels lack SUGAR. I don't understand how you can be a meal prep store for people focused on nutrition and training, without noting the amount of sugars and net carbs. Yes, some diets focus on under 20% fat - but others, need a high amount of fat or no sugar, etc.. Limiting the labeled information like that doesn't allow people of ANY dietary restriction to easily shop. A shame. I brought home a bowl of chili. It was good, not amazing. The $10 bowl was not super filling though (and I don't have the heartiest appetite), so for me, budgeting to get through the week on these meals would not work. The owner was there and seemed nice, willing to answer questions. I just had to run and she was dealing with other people. Otherwise, I'd have asked about the labeling in person. Overall, this seems like a great idea and based on the other reviews, popular. But the price is still quite high and there are significant gaps in the food facts of each dish. I decided to stop by yesterday and pick up some lunch options. I have just tried the chicken breast and sweet potato mash! What a great dish. The chicken was so moist and tasty. I also bought the gingered beef, chicken enchiladas and king ranch chicken. I have not tried those yet but will update accordingly. I love that this location is close to home. I love this place! I've been eating Smart Meals for the past ten years, starting back at its original location in southwest Houston. I had gone through some surgeries that left me inactive for a while, and needed to lose weight. With the help of Smart Meals, I lost 35 pounds! Before Smart Meals, I tried other weight loss foods and found them tasteless, disgusting or very expensive. I've always thought of Smarts Meals as being like what would happen if your grandmother made a bunch of food and packaged it up. I love that it's not only healthy, but preservative free. The food is tasty and makes life a whole lot easier since you don't have to plan or prepare. It's easy to grab out of your fridge or freezer and the nutritional facts are on the package, which is helpful if you're tracking calories. You can have it delivered to one of their delivery locations or have it delivered to your door. I particularly like the crispy baked chicken, which I heat up (tastiest if heated in oven) and put over a bowl of lettuce for lunch. For dinner, I like to add enchilada sauce to the ground sirloin with rice. The chicken wraps and bean wrap are also some of my favorites. Oh, and the desserts are really yummy!
