Love this place! Staff and owners care about their customers and all are very friendly. Food is amazing! Very fresh and homemade fresh cut fries. Haven't had anything we don't like! Drinks are well made and they have a very wide variety of alcohol choices and drink specials. Breakfast served daily until 2pm. Atmosphere is friendly, clean, and very bright and cheerful! Three huge TV screens for whatever you are watching, as well as many smaller TVs throughout, including the outside patio. Great room for parties without taking space away from other patrons. Renovated from the old "R Bar" there is a greater open space, with bright white walls and good lighting giving Group Therapy a vibrant tone. It's multiple TV's, pool tables, dart boards and video bar games also makes this the place to stay and hang out for a spell. There's also some tasty grub the kitchen puts out. Their kitchen is big and has a talented crew that puts out some familiar bar and grill eats like a tasty Burger. Amazing food and service! I came with a large group and everyone really enjoyed their food.

Every food item I have tried has been delicious. I usually sit at the bar so the service is great, except when they are delivering food and drinks to folks in the seated areas; booths and tables. Great new look for the new RBAR which has been around for many years in the Cascade neighborhood. New ownership completely revamped and revitalized this space from what the RBAR used to look like, and it is very nice inside with many booths and a large bar area. They also revamped the food menu which is very good and higher quality food than they had prior at this location. They've hired veteran bartender staff from other nearby establishments, so the service is conducted very well by this experienced group. Group Therapy Bar and Grill's first day of their soft opening is today! They're hoping to receive their liquor license within the next week or so. Until then, they offer a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails! This establishment was formerly known as R Bar. The new owners completely gutted the place. It's a very open layout with plenty of seating. Once they have their liquor license, it will not be family friendly but until then, they said children are welcome. Some of the things they have to offer are: -10 TVs -3 projectors -2 pool tables -2 dart boards -Golden Tee -Pull tabs -Magic Coin machine -Outdoor patio (dogs welcome outside) My sister and I decided to have lunch there today. Their temporary soft menu offers a good selection. For anyone requiring GF, they do offer a GF bun substitution. If you visit, please note that they are temporarily CASH ONLY. My sister got their Philly Cheesesteak and a raspberry purée lemonade. She is very picky when it comes to Philly Cheesesteaks and she absolutely loved it. She said the bread was perfectly crisp on the outside, and soft in the middle. The meat to veggie ratio was perfectly to her liking. I decided to try their Reuben. My sandwich probably could have used a little more sauerkraut, but I've always been a hoarder of sauerkraut because I love it so much. Most would probably be perfectly content with it. It contained just the right amount of corned beef. For a drink, I asked for them to surprise me with a mocktail of their choosing, which our bartender loved. It ended up consisting of mango purée, cranberry juice, and some other magical yumminess that I can't remember. The only criticism we had were the fries. Both sandwiches came with garlic fries. While they tasted delicious, they weren't fried all of the way. Most of them were pretty limp. We loved that they were hand cut, though. read more

The quality of the food and drinks as well as service of the staff is top notch, quantity of the food at hand is about what a big boy like me loves, as for the price? We have been coming here since they opened as Group Therapy but I think today was my last day. Last couple of time service hasn't been very good and today topped it off. We ordered food had a few drinks and played some pull tabs. When I got the bill I noticed a extra an extra beer on our tab. When I brought it to the bartenders attention he said that I order it and he should know because he was the one that hasn't been drinking. My wife and I had the same amount of drinks as we ordered them at the same time each time. So today will be the last time visiting this establishment. read more

I've lived in the area for some time and this neighborhood is what I would call undesirable. Bartell's QFC, Bally's Hooters are just a few of the bigger name businesses that have folded in this commercial lot. We came here a decade ago when it was R Bar. The only reason we came is because they had a coupon in the Entertainment Book. The food wasn't good and the place appeared to be a haven for professional drinkers and smokers, it was dark, dank and depressing. Group Therapy is brighter and more inviting, but it also appears to attract the same customer base, so it's unlikely you are going to attract the kind of regulars to make this place welcoming and successful. Service here was slow and from what I've seen bars these days cater to Pull Tab players and drinkers and if you are not doing one of those thing, you will be ignored. The competition for this place would be The Apogee in Fairwood and Sidetrack in Kent. Apogee is overpriced and the food is mediocre. Sidetrack has tasty food and reasonable price putting Group Therapy in the middle. I had the burger dip. It was a tasty patty, but the Au Jus wasn't as rich as I like, salt helped, but I prefer a broth I don't have to season. The patty appeared to be hand formed and since the bun was rectangular, the patty should have been formed the same way. The portion of fries was also much smaller than expected and pictured in photos. Last, neither the burger or fries was served hot. Had everything been hot, this would have been a 4 star review, but with the slow service it was clear this is a bar serving food, not a restaurant serving alcohol. Everyone was pleasant and nice, but this place is going to have to be customer focused to attract anything other than heavy smokers and drinkers. This may work for ownership, but people that don't smoke and don't over-drink, don't like being corralled around them. read more

Back again but something different off the menu. I started with a Widmer Hefeweizen on tap and ordered a combo pizza. The beer was cold and refreshing. The bartender squeezed a couple lemons for me(hand surgery hampered that for me) my buddy ordered breaded oysters and fries. He thought they were amazing. He's a regular so they know him and greeted us with smiles. I got my pizza and at first wasn't impressed with the crust( I like it thicker and a review I read said it was wood fired-its not) However, the toppings were over the top and heaping. Once I bit into it I was very impressed. The crust had a good crunch, sauce was excellent and the toppings not skimped on and fresh. Can't wait to go back and try something else! Plenty of open seating, games, tv's. Parking is tight, especially for a midweek lunch. Nice local hangout! read more

My husband and I found this bar, looking for a way to kill time while our teenager and her friends enjoyed the escape room business around the corner. We'd been to the R Bar before and this is definitely 2 or 3 steps above that. Fried artichokes were delicious. Next time, I'll try the fried oysters that also looked quite good! We stopped in to Group Therapy tonight and it is 2 thumbs up! Woodfired pizza was perfect. The wings were awesome and I am picky about my wings. The wings were meaty, crispy, and well sauced. Not grisly or fatty. Hoping they add buffalo sauce option in the future. Canned IPA was $6 and premium mixed drink was $8.50. Good prices! Clean! Plenty of TVs for sports. Friendly, attentive staff. We had a female server at first. She was great! I ordered a Space Dust and that's what I got. She left for the evening, so then we got Paul as our server. I ordered another Space Dust. He brought our drinks out. After he was done talking to another group, I told him it wasn't Space Dust. He then very loudly and with a snarky tone in front of other customers said, "Don't you think I know how to do my job? I poured it!" I ignored how he treated me and just told him again that it wasn't what I ordered. The female server had accidentally put the wrong beer on the tab, but gave me what I ordered . He then said he would get that beer for me. I tried that one and once again told him it wasn't what I ordered. Once again very loudly and in a snarky tone he said, "Do you want to check the kegs with me?" I politely declined his offer. I have never been treated like that by a server. Another male server then came out. We told him what happened. Right away he said by looks, they definitely weren't what I ordered. He said he would take the drinks off of the bill right away. He also apologized for everything even though it wasn't his fault. Aside from all of that, the food is always good. My friends and I enjoy sitting on the patio. read more
