After seeing my previous Yelp review, folks from Groundworks responded very quickly. They scheduled repair work within days. Their crew showed up on time, fixed the problems that they had noted in their inspection of the foundation, and added pressure (I am not sure I am expressing or describing the work that they did correctly) to some of the piers that they installed. The crew that came was courteous and fast. The workers were cool. The left the concrete almost as they found it. I think, and I hope, that the problem with the foundation has been taken care of. I think time will tell, because the problem has been movement of the house, and they did the work last Friday, so it is too early to tell whether the house will move again in the near future. We'll see. They called to check whether I was satisfied with the work. And they asked me to update my review. I think it is fair to do so, because they came and did the work. But again, I really hope that the work will keep the house stable from here on. And they did all this without it costing me a cent, so they are honoring the warranty. I started out with a driveway that was shifting and lifting, and Groundworks came out to repair the driveway so it wouldn't progress. The repair didn't work out and cracked the driveway more. The company came back out to check the repair because it continued to crack. We came to an agreement that Groundworks would repair the full driveway for a reduced cost and I am thrilled. They are coming out Friday, and we will see what happens, but I feel that Groundworks genuinely wanted to make me happy and accepted that their repair was not up to their standards. They were willing to accept the accountability for their part and negotiated in good faith. It took some time but I am happy with the resolution. Melinda read more

Beware... I had a leak coming from my bathroom outside down my slab and since I live on a hill with a slope with some soil erosion I believed I had a foundation issue. So I called Groundworks and they sent out Ivan Aviles. Ivan was a hour late, when he arrived he came and took his time doing measurements and asked me to point out my concerns. We got to talking and it turns out Ivan who said he is a "structural engineer " is Quite successful outside of working for Groundworks. Mentioning he owns his own construction or remodeling business. As well as 2 personal homes and 7 rental properties. I told him I had a independent engineer coming a few days after and he asked who? So I told him thinking it was friendly conversation, I also had another Rep from Olshan coming after he was finished. Ivan went outside to calculate the quote when he returned he showed me some possible AI pictures of Olshans product failing at different job sites and pointed out things in their warranty . So we then started reviewing my home and talked about what needed to be done. As we went through the slides on his iPad my engineers company came up and I asked Ivan why? Iam assuming he was trying to compromise my engineer into agreeing that I needed work done. As we continued he assured me if I didn't get the work done I would be paying way more calling it "preventative work". The quote was $21000+ for 9 beams and lifting my badly cracked drive way with polyurethane. He then proceeded to tell me if I signed a 5year financing I could use his "friends and family discount " that he only gets one every six months lucky me. But I would have to sign that day. I told him I would pay in full he said still do the 5 year financing to get his discount. Companies get kickbacks from lenders the more people they sign up. I said Iam not signing anything until after I got my other quote and my engineer came. Since he was late it cut into my other inspection with Olshan. Their rep was here for forty minutes and said "sir your house is within tolerance for a 30 year old house, I suggest no work be done and for the driveway have it redone completely. As for the leak from my bathroom he said call a plumber. I asked him to send me a quote anyway which was $8000, $13000 cheaper I told Ivan this and asked why the Olshan rep would say that I didn't need any work? Mind you Olshan reps get paid off of commission and he drove from San Antonio. He said and I quote" that guy is a hater and when he pulled up and saw someone better than him he sabotaged the job for everyone." The next two days before my engineer came Ivan called three times and sent me paragraph text messages assuring me if I didn't get the work done I would be paying way more in the long run. Then my engineer came out he's a 20+ year structural engineer who owns multiple firms throughout Texas. He agreed with the rep/"hater" from Olshan that no work needed to be performed. He said when you stabilize certain areas of a house they will not move but the other areas will continue to move which would create severe damage to my home. Ivan being a "structural engineer" never mentioned that. Groundworks is nationwide company who pads quotes and incintivizes their workers with bonuses to sell sell sell. Corporate greed at its finest with no integrity/ morals or ethics and no care for the well being of people/customers. I will never forgive this company or Ivan Aviles for trying to steal $21000 from me as well as possibly destroying my families home. Like I said if you plan on any construction/ remodeling make sure you don't use Ivan Aviles or his company you can't trust a man with such a lust for greed. He's a perfect fit for Groundworks. Also it's very unethical to slander another company the way Groundworks has their employees doing. I asked my engineer if he had to choose between Groundworks or Olshan? He said Olshan because they're regional and their patented technology is better but he wouldn't choose either if he had a choice. I also showed him the pictures Ivan showed me he didn't believe they were authentic. If I could give negative stars I would... Companies like Groundworks is what has ruined America/ the world. Don't fall for predatory/pushy/conniving salesman do your research and hire a independent engineer before you do any foundation work especially not Groundworks. read more

Think Twice Before Hiring Groundworks I hesitated to write this review because, to be fair, Groundworks has some genuinely good employees -- I met a few and appreciated their professionalism. But this review isn't about the people. It's about the company itself. A few months ago, I hired Groundworks for foundation repair. The total cost? $20,000. A serious investment, but one I believed was necessary. Before the work began, I had Air & Drain Works perform a hydrostatic test to check for plumbing leaks. The results came back clean -- no issues. After Groundworks completed the foundation lift, Air & Drain Works returned for a post-test. That's when the trouble started. The lifting process had caused a leak. A costly one. The repair estimate? Over $10,000. I reached out to Groundworks multiple times, hoping for some accountability or at least a conversation. Nothing. No returned calls. No follow-up. It's amazing how responsive they are when they're trying to win your business -- and how silent they become when you need help after the fact. So here's my advice: if you're considering foundation work, look elsewhere. Find a company that stands by their work after the job is done -- especially when their actions lead to expensive consequences. If this review makes even one person reconsider, then maybe Groundworks will realize that ignoring customers after the check clears isn't a sustainable business model. read more

The assigned inspector for Groundworks, Ricky Laws was great!. Took his time to explain everything. Did a super drawing where he explained as he set the piers and patches, and told me why. He sent the contract quickly. Only thing I don't like is that he (and I'm sure most salesperson) will give you the old pitch, "sign now, get a discount". Being old school, turns me off. But, I like Ricky Laws!! And, the price was good. In between the lows and highs. Will have to re-write review if I have Groundworks come do the job. I am updating the review I recently made with Groundworks. The first review was a single star because I could never get someone out to address the problems we were having. It took over a month to get the attention of someone. I also took off a day of work and they never showed up. Today they are here, on time and are fixing the slippage we are experiencing. Update 5/21/25 Four days after submitting this review Groundworks returned my funds This was after two months, four phone calls an email and multiple texts. Updated rating due to the fact they did satisfactorily perform the contracted work. Don I was lied to, and stolen from by Groundworks / Foundation Support Specialists Taylor (sales specialist) arrived at my home to perform an inspection and provide a bid for two jobs. We settled on one job(made the down payment) and decided to delay the other. He looked my wife and I in the eyes and said, "We're the company that can be trusted." The work was scheduled, performed and at the end of the job I paid the foreman via check for the remainder of the balance. By the thirty day mark, the check had not cleared my bank so I called the San Antonio office, who said they would look into it. Within two days, I received a phone call from them stating that by no fault of my own, the check had been damaged and could not be deposited. He asked if I would be opposed to paying via link with a credit card. I agreed and asked what happened to the check and if could be returned, to which I was told it had been shredded. I paid via the link, and noticed a week later that the check, the damaged / shredded check, had cleared my bank account. I called the San Antonio office, they said they could see that I had paid twice but couldn't explain how this check was deposited and that they would look into it. A month went by with no communication, and I called the San Antonio office. The office manager said, "The North Carolina office mailed your check April 3rd, and if you hadn't received it yet then that was the USPS's fault." Does that excuse work for say, mortgage payments? Two weeks go by and I reach out to Taylor, the sales rep, via text and he replied , "I apologize for all of this is going on. I will be in the office today and I will get answers on what is going on and work on doing something for you." Two weeks later, no calls, no emails, no check. This saga started Feb 19th 2025 I'd say at this point Groundworks / FSS is no different than any other shady contractor, when given the opportunity will look you straight in the eyes, then lie to and steal from you. read more

He was very knowledgeable and didn't give me the high pressure sales pitch but provided time for my husband and I to discuss the project in private. We decided to use groundworks and they kicked into high gear to prep our property. Shoutout to the guys and gals in the office that handle the logistics of the project. They dispatched the crew of Mark V , Tyler, Rob, and Jon. They worked quickly and took time to explain what was happening and how the house would be stabilized. Not only were they skilled in their craft but extremely respectful of the property. By time the left it was hard to tell they were even there it was so clean! Zero stars. We had foundation work done in summer of 2023. There were permits pulled and never closed. Now compliance has changed and the communication from Groundworks has been near non existent. I found out the permits were not closed in August of 2025, notified Groundworks and now in February of 2026... nothing has progressed to close the permit and close out this project. No one is held accountable. Go with a different company. read more

In January we had Groundworks raised the foundation around our pool and porch, we had had this work done previously in 2018. Several of the seams that were repaired this time did not hold up as expected, Groundworks came out again and repaired the seams and again they didn't hold up. Nathan and Edgar came out the third time did an excellent job of repair. We believe it they had been the original crew that came in January we would not have had any problem.
