When I decided to go forward with foundation repair on my house I interviewed five companies and received quotes from all five. I decided to hire Vantage Foundation Repair because the plan Derk Mazurczak presented for placement of support made the most sense and, though the quote wasn't the lowest, I thought it was the best value because Vantage uses steel pilings and offers a transferable 25 year warranty. In addition to the foundation repair, I contracted Vantage to excavate (and refill) a tunnel under the house to gain access for plumbing repair. The quote for the excavation was fair compared to other quotes received. All work was done on schedule. Derk was professional, personable and communications were always prompt within reason. He always took time to answer questions and address concerns. The work crew, led my Calvin, were all polite, hardworking, considerate and removed all personal trash daily. When the projects were finished, the work areas were cleaned beyond my expectations. I'm very pleased with the outcome of both projects. A huge crack that was in an exterior brick wall came back together so well it is hardly noticeable and all of the doors now close as designed. I recently decided to begin investing in real estate. I am learning as I go and have experienced some hard knocks along the way. I recently purchased a house that is supported by the old cedar post pier and beam foundation. The foundation needs to be leveled and several new post are required to make the foundation solid. After pulling up carpet for renovation, I noticed a crack in the slab that ran the entire width of the house. Wanting to know if foundation repair was needed before putting in a hard wood floor, I contacted Vantage via their website. They called me within 24 hours and were able to come out the same day. Dirk was very professional and friendly. He checked the house inside and out and used a machine to measure the relative levelness of the house. He determined the house was not out of level enough to warrant any foundation remediation or repair and recommended that I seal the crack using a commercially available epoxy before installing my new floor. I offered to pay him for his inconvenience but he would not accept any payment for the estimate and evaluation. Due to good reviews, Vantage Foundation was selected to evaluate the house foundation for possible damage. Mr. Derk Mazurczak arrived at the scheduled time and did a thorough walk-around inspection of the foundation outside. He then performed electronic zip level measurements of the floor inside about every 15 feet. Luckily, the variances in elevations were insignificant, indicating that no repair was needed. Mr. Mazurczak seemed quite knowledgeable in his assessment of what turned out to be issues related to structural frame settlement. He also provided good tips on outside water drainage and how to make cosmetic repairs of the foundation.
