I'm happy to be able to update this review on Groundworks! The GM came out personally to look at the job and said he would correct all the issues created by his crew. Guess what he kept his word! Mostly everything was fixed back to its condition before they came out. Now with all the recent snow and all the melting thats taking place, my basement would have been a literal disaster. But its not, its super dry and smells great and is airtight. I'm so thankful I called them when I did and that the work was completed in time for the snow fall. We hired Busy Dog who this company bought. For what it's worth, we don't get water anymore. However we had a lot of back and forth over finishing the job: Repairing the walkway bricks they dug up and put back improperly, replacing the fence pieces they broke, replacing a plug and cap for a radon machine that has been unusable since installed, filling in a hole in middle of basement that was noted during first visit. I hired Groundworks to reroute my sump pump piping. When the crew arrived I asked to revalidate that the water coming out of the drywell would not run back towards the house. Unfortunately it is... During the installation when they were digging they ran into my downspout pipe. Their recommendation was to cut my downspout pipe (which was about half way between my house and the dry well), and add a 4 way connector so that the sump pump piping could route through it. There's now a serious leak from doing this (see photos and video). Not only is the water coming up through the ground, its also come up out of my downspout and ruining everything around it. I'm very worried that the water will eventually leak into my house due to the downspout being connected to it. Finally, the crew left multiple pieces of trash in the yard, my pavers in random spots, and left a giant puddle with dirt and mud in my basement. I've called multiple times, been told that the Service Manager will reach out to me, and still have not heard back. Would love for someone to come to fix the leak and reroute the piping to a place where any of the water coming of of the drywell doesn't flow back to the house...incredibly disappointing! read more

When they completed the installation they went over exactly was done and answered any questions I had. They cleaned up the area they were working in and I couldn't be happier with their service. Scheduled a free inspection for a suspected moisture issue. The inspector that came out and told me I had major foundation issues that could cost tens of thousands of dollars to address. It was an alarming visit. We were so spooked, that we hired a licensed structural engineer, at a cost of $800, to assess our foundation and home. They found no issues. I would recommend hiring a structural engineer before moving forward with a project proposed by Groundworks. read more

I was extremely impressed by how efficient, professional and supportive Groundworks has been throughout this entire process. I couldn't be happier with the results. I have had issues with water in my basement since I first gotten the home and it got continually worse over time and I didn't know who to go to as my husband who usually handled our roofing and other housing projects had passed away a few years ago and I needed a company I could trust and god bless I made the right decision putting my faith in them. Hired Groundworks (formerly Busy Dog) to add onto a Busy Dog system installed earlier this year. Waited 2 months for them to come. During the quoting process the operation manager identifies another area that may have water issues. Says he wants to open the wall in that area at demo. Crew comes and does demo and opens spot where manager thought there may be water. Confirms there is water there. I tell crew that I want them to continue to open wall to see how far water comes in on that wall. Foreman agrees to do the work. Next day crew returns puts in drain, cements everything over and leaves. Still have water coming in additional location. I ask foreman why he didn't open like we discussed. Says it wasn't on initial spec. I questioned why a change order wasn't initiated and why they cemented in drain when they will need to attache more drain to it. I am told to "talk to the office". I eventually talk to the general manager and we agree on a price to extend on to additional wall. So I say is the crew coming back tomorrow to finish. GM says to talk to sales guy, sales guy says he needs to talk to operations. Been a week and my walls are still torn open and I had to remove baseboard heat in that space so they could do the work. I tried calling and get dumped into voicemail. So now I am left leaving reviews on Yelp and messaging the CEO and President on LinkedIn. Very unprofessional. read more

Have an issue with basement walkout detaching from home, was worried about foundation. Called for a free inspection, but a salesman showed up, not an inspector or engineer. He told us they'd install piers to lift the structure. He then started looking at our drainage. We don't have water in basement and he also never stepped foot inside the house to inspect. Sold us on the piers and 3 French drains. Told us they were booking 3 weeks out. Told us to have two vinyl fence gates and posts removed so his equipment could get in the yard. We signed for over $10k worth of work and put down a $2300 downpayment. Salesperson messages 3 days later with an install date 4 months out, not 3 weeks out as he had sold us on. We said no, he then came back with 2 months out so we agreed, we had our fences removed. One week out, contractor comes to paint dig lines and says the structure is concrete and they can't lift it. He was supposed to send someone out to see what could be done if not the work promised. Nobody showed nobody called. Our original install date came and went without a peep. We tried numerous numbers and emailed our original sales rep directly. No returned calls, no returned emails. We have been ghosted for over 3 weeks now and all we want is our deposit returned as the work promised was not done and based an this poor relationship management we wouldn't want it done anyways. Our money is being withheld and their is a complete breach of contract. leaving this review seems like my only chance at getting a response. I will never recommend Groundwork's to anyone, its been a time consuming and terrible experience. I'm entitled to the return of my deposit. read more

I had a crack in the foundation of my house and called Groundworks to give me an estimate. The inspector/ salesman came and spent 2.5 hours (appointment was supposed to be 1.5 hours max) at my home, telling me I had a structural issue and needed repair asap. I waited a week (scared that my house was in trouble) and followed up with him for the estimate. He said he had the estimate but refused to email it to me, saying he wanted to meet me and go over it in person. I said I'd like to see it first so that I may formulate questions, as I like to sit with information and think about it. He said ok he would send it, but would still like to meet for 20 minutes to go over it in person. We arrange to meet, and in the interim he does not send me the estimate as promised. So I have literally no idea what to expect. Once we meet, he shows me the scope of work, tells me the situation is drastic and needs to be fixed to the tune of $13,000. After seeing my shock, he says he can give me a discount if I sign the contract the day of him reviewing it with me. Now 50 minutes into his proposal, I remind him that I have to leave (and will now be late for my next appointment because he told me it would only take 20 minutes), but I will think about it and will get back to him that day as I would not like to lose the discount. He then tells me the day of discount actually means right this moment, that if I leave I will be ineligible. But not to worry, he can take my card right now...seriously?! What a scam!! This guy is such a snake oil salesman. I also did not appreciate that he asked me to sit and look at his computer while he towered over me insisting I give him my credit card information. That kind of intimidation tactic, of a man over a woman, is despicable, quite frankly. I would NEVER ever use this company! I ended up going with RamJack, btw, who were very pleasant and offered a lifetime guarantee of their work. I did not use, but also had a pleasant experience with, Pioneer Basement. Their guarantee was only 20 years, so I did not go with them, but I thought they were great and will use them to waterproof my basement in the future.
