I would not recommend Groundworks for foundation drainage work. I hired Groundworks in the bay area, California. When I agreed to finance this 15k job, I was told the drainage from the crawl space sump pump would and could be connected to the main, but when the crew arrived they were not sure where the drain exit should go and said the city of Santa Cruz doesn't allow them to connect and they could not get a permit. Why was I not told this prior to scheduling the work? I made the mistake of trying to figure out the discharge area with the workers who showed up. They asked me where I want the discharge pipes, but I am not qualified to make that decision. That is why I hired them. The workers were nice and tried to be helpful and this is not a complaint about them. I called the representative who originally came out, inspected, and estimated the job, which included connection to main, and that is when he told me that he could not get permits from Santa Cruz county. This is when I should have cancelled the job. The completed job by Groundworks has discharge pvc lines on the side of the house and terminating at the front right corner of the house and I have to figure out how and where to drain all of the water! I thought that was the point of hiring an expert drainage company. After work was completed and after first rain of season, I get flooding in my garage on two separate occasions. I spend the day clearing everything out and drying the garage out. I call and a technician comes out to inspect a day later and tells me that the sump pump under the master bedroom was installed backwards and wasn't working. Groundworks installed two new pumps as part of the drainage plan. Mistakes can be made, sure, but I would think for such a pricey job they would have it inspected prior to signing it off. Now that the second pump is up and running, it is so loud that it is difficult to sleep at night, but at least my garage isn't flooding. The noise disturbance now is unsustainable. Now, after groundworks installed this drainage system, if that second sump pump is not on, the garage will flood. Prior, I had one old sump pump under the kitchen and never had this flooding issue. I don't know why, but now my garage floods. Follow up was horrible. The supervisor Wyatt never got back to me when he said he would about the concerns I had and how to resolve them. Initially, Wyatt asked how they could make me feel better. I asked for a discount because at the time I thought the flooding was resolved, but I was put off for over a month and in that time realized it is not exactly clear why the garage floods. My concern is the flooding issue and not the discount, but no follow up to discuss. The General Manager did not call me or reach out as Wyatt said he would refer me to the GM. I had to make contact many times for any reply. At this point I am told by Wyatt that the GM wants receipts of the damage to my garage. I don't have receipts for me clearing out my garage to the driveway and drying out the garage. I called you all when it happened and you sent a technician the following day who told me it was i stalled backwards. A month later after waiting with no return call, I had to call again and was told they came out and fixed it already and would I like it to be inspected again. At this point, by whom? Can I trust this company to tell me what is actually going on? They don't even call me back. Why is the garage flooding now if it doesn't have two sump pumps running when it only had one prior? This treatment feels horrible. I am not out looking for something for free and a discount. I am looking to protect my home from water damage and that is not happening This was a 15k job and I now have to hire another company that can actually tell me why my garage floods. This is not ok. After I seek assessment elsewhere and get a good idea of what is actually going on with the drainage system that was installed, I will be following up with Groundworks. This is a company that stands behind putting out this quality of work and charging for it. 100% disappointed. This situation was improperly handled in many ways. Communication nonexistent. read more

We had a back walkway that had sunk 3 inches and really hindered repair work we need to do. We hesitated for years because we thought it was such a big job and we were unaware how to go about it. Groundworks responded immediately to my need to lift a sunken 20x6 foot section of a concrete slab that had cracked and drifted 1 inch laterally and sunk 2 inches along the long edge. Alan Dawber measured the amount of sink with specialized equipment and provided a reasonable estimate to inject expanding foam to lift and stabilize the problem areas. Crew of Oscar Gonzalez and Riccardo Vargas drilled about 20 injection holes and in 2 hours leveled and stabilized the slab. They were efficient, clean and expertly leveled uneven sections. Super polite, professional and knowledgable. Their recommendation would solve our issue. We signed up and scheduled. Contacted them for a free inspection, the appointment part was great, we were in the process of purchasing a home and something came up in the home inspection report, we wanted a second opinion and opted for groundworks because of their good reviews Their inspector came out, met the owner(s), called me after the inspection telling me that we need a zoom meeting! I asked for a written report because to have sellers buyers and our agents to be present for the zoom meeting is not very realistic. At first I thought maybe my husband can participate in the zoom meeting without me but he insisted that I should be there so he doesn't have to explain the same thing twice, and that he's not hiding anything from any party. He straight up implied that we as buyers trying to use his report to scam the buyer?! That's ridiculous and unprofessional to make such comment. We've had other inspections done and it's obvious that things needed to be fixed. We genuinely needed reassurance that the issue is fixable and for how much. Nobody is trying to hide anything except him! He refused to tell us any findings, refused to give us a plan nor quote. I told him I just need the report to present for negotiation, he was like so you just want the numbers. YES I JUST WANT THE REPORT! My realtor reached out to him in hopes of getting a report without being in zoom but no. Not sure if the seller and the listing agent participated in his mandatory meeting, but we ended up coming to an agreement without his report. He did eventually sent the report over but it was days later and we had no use of it. Base on the interaction we will not be using groundworks. I'm still very much annoyed as I'm writing this review. I manage a residential property in Nevada that had foundation issues - groundworks was recommended to me, Ontario CA being the closest location. They sent their sales rep Dave out to assess the property and propose a solution. I decided to go for it, but since I'm in California, most of my work had to be remote on this. Luis was the manager on the project and his communication was amazing, second to none. He was polite, informative, and I could not have asked for a better experience working with him. Luis did most of the work one week, then had to return the next week. I drove out and met him after 99% of the work was done, and scheduled to meet with multiple other contractors there that day to get quotes on work. Luis hung around to help answer questions that may have arisen when I met with someone for concrete and windows in case they had additional questions about the foundation stabilization affecting them. Overall, groundworks was the solution to my problem, but Luis was 10x what I expected that really made the job stand out as top notch. I have no doubt he should be running the company someday! read more

Frustrated and disappointed from waiting. I had the sales rep Joey come out in early October 2024 and received the proposal within a week. Since then, there has been very little communication, and turnovers at the company. It is now 8 months later and I'm told they are still waiting for the city "approval" of the plan. This is not a complicated job; single story residential property. If the city hasn't approved it after 8 months, my guess is that the people submitting the plan and paperwork are incompetent. read more

We were worried about ceiling sheet-rock cracks and a bulged, uneven, floor in our home and scheduled an inspection appointment with EagleLIFT. Jim Riviera from their team visited our home for the inspection. He quickly identified the problem and ruled out any problems with the foundation. He pin-pointed the problem to a possible framing issue and told us that this is not a problem with the foundation. We appreciated his frank opinion and that he did not try to sell us something that we did not need. Horrible communication and service. The initial estimate and work to be performed was good, the salesman seemed to know what he was talking about. First problem, I was told the work crew would be showing up between 8-9 am and I did get a call around 9am letting me know they would not be on sit due to a crew being short handed. Second problem, the date was rescheduled and once again I was told that they would be at the site between 8-9 am. 11am no show and it took several text and calls to find out what was happening and still no response. At 1pm a foreman called to let me know they would be at the site by 2pm. That is when I was told it was a 2 day job after the salesman told me it was a 1 day job. I had to cancel due to scheduling. Third problem, the work crew showed up two weeks later and didn't have the correct work order. After showing the foreman what the salesman said was to be done the foreman told me that the work could not be done like I was told. I told him to call the office and let them know I need another salesman to come out and review the work needed. Fourth problem, no one from the office called me at all. I had to call them 3 times to request my deposit back. The third call I was told that my deposit was issued on 6-12, but there is nothing in my account or pending. On top of everything I had to take 3 days off and rearrange my schedule and still have not received a call from the company with an explanation or an apology. Do yourself a favor and go another route and do not use GroundWorks. They do not care about the customer at all. read more

He answered any questions we had and was able to provide us a personalized drawing of our house with numbers related to how our foundation was leaning. We felt like he was thorough and we know what we are getting into after receiving the proposal pdf he created same day. We would recommend him and Groundworks as they are timely (same week appointment), professional and detailed. We recently bought our first home knowing it has some cracks and foundation settlement. We got a few foundation contractors to come out and some of them suggested repairs that are up to $20-30K. Jim R. came out, measured the elevations, and said at this time, no need to spend money on the piers to lift the foundation because the settlement is within tolerance. Instead, he suggested on how to get water to flow away from the foundation (i.e. look for a landscaping company to do a trench, etc.). And in the mean time, I should monitor the cracks and if things get worse, can reach out to him again. He also examined the cracks and explained why repairs are not needed, explained to me the difference between visual issues and structural integrity issues; and stayed to answer all of my questions. As a first time home owner who worries about everything, I really appreciate Jim's thoroughness and dedication. Most importantly, he spoke to me like a family member, and let me know I can contact him for questions if other contractors suggest otherwise. We ended up not needing EagleLIFT's service, but there's no doubt that Jim (and by extension the company) has integrity and definitely earned my respect. My family contracted with EagleLift to address and restore foundation issues on our rental property. Jim came out and was very thorough with the process in evaluating the cracks and potential foundation issues on our property. And along the way, answering any concerns we had regarding the process. At times we had him on the phone for 1-2 hours at a time with our what we thought were off the wall questions, always making sure we were comfortable with his explanations. He also recommended addressing the drainage around the building to mitigate any future issues. I had positive and helpful communications with Mr. Cordero, Mr. Allenano and staff in their Accounting office. Geff the Foreman on site is one of the hardest working Foremen I've ever seen. He never hesitated to allow me to check in with him before the work began in the morning and at the end of the day and was very good about answering questions I had (since I live on the property) and took the time in explaining the process and what they were doing in a way that helped me understand.
