Shoddy work and empty promises - I had high expectations after reading reviews, but now feel like I threw $5,000 in the trash. When I saw the issues, the project foreman told me if I had problems to call him and gave me his card. I told him to his face I have problems right now. He and his crew were in such a hurry to leave (it was 2 pm on Friday afternoon) that they wouldn't do anything. I've since contacted the sales rep I worked with and was assured it would be taken care of. I sent pictures which clearly show how bad the work is and I have heard nothing about it being fixed. Meanwhile, tomorrow will be a week and I cannot connect my washer/dryer until the sink is hooked back up to the drain. I'll start by saying this isn't our first rodeo. We have dealt with homes with foundation and flooding problems in the past, so we came into this with a little experience under our belt. We recently bought a house that needed a foundation repair (one basement wall was leaning in with horizontal cracks). We called a few different companies for bids. CBS was not the cheapest option, but definitely had the best presentation of the types of options available to fix our problem. Already being familiar with these systems, this was not a tremendous value to us, but if you're new to foundation repair, I absolutely recommend you let CBS come out to your house... it is very educational. We decided to go with another bid because the system was similar and the price was lower. I called CBS to tell them "thanks, but no thanks," and they offered to price-match the competitor's bid. So I gave CBS the green light. The only downside is they called 2 days before our scheduled install date to tell us they were running behind and would have to reschedule a week later. We had 3 different contractors lined up for the following week, and that was simply not an option, so we kicked and screamed a little and they were able to schedule for the next day (one day before the scheduled date). I would recommend CBS work some fudge-factor into their scheduling so they don't need to bump their appointments. This is the second time that has happened to us with this company. Both times they managed to fix it, but it is unnecessary stress, as far as I'm concerned. They did 5 Geo-Lock anchors and epoxy injections in the cracks. This system involves digging a trench in the yard outside the house and connecting buried plates to plates affixed to the foundation wall. Their team was in and out in about 7 hours. They brought their excavator across the yard on plywood planks so as not to destroy the grass (also checked for sprinkler heads before driving through). The landscaping was left so that you could not tell any work was even done. I think they left the basement cleaner than they found it. They also provided a torque wrench and adapter so we can check the torque on the plates in 6 months. I'd give them an A-. Would be an A+ without the scheduling hiccups. read more

I am going to echo what Brian B. has posted about Rod Martin's. I set an appointment for April 3rd. I was feeling pretty good about this company as this was my second opinion and the feedback I was receiving sounded pretty promising. However, on April 12th, I received an email checking in to see if I had received their proposal (I was never sent a proposal). When I asked for them to resend the proposal (which should be in your sent folder), I was told that it was deleted??! It is now 2 weeks since they came to my house and I still do not have a proposal for the work. If I were the owner, I would be VERY CONCERNED, that the last two reviewers are saying the same thing. How do you lose someone's proposal?? Update: Rod Martin's management, led by Travis, worked to resolve some of our issues which were largely due to lack of communication. The actual work that was done on our house was good work (poly-leveling the front porch, installing a sump pump and installing helical piers to address a heave in our house) and we appreciate management going above and beyond to work with us to overcome obstacles. read more

Job was started at end of January and still not complete! I hired them for structural issues. At first it looked like they were going to get 5 stars. Salesperson seemed to be sincere and the lead, Melvin, was nice and kept me informed of progress. Concrete is now crumbling, they say they will call to let me know when they can re-pour... no call back. They didn't complete the paperwork required until I called them...the cleanup has never been done. The salesperson dropped me like a hot potato after the sale. They say they will call you back and they don't. So frustrating....as if spending $15k and having structural issues is not enough. I would advise not using this company. Bottom Line, CBS did a great job under difficult conditions. The basement floor looks great now, nicely sealed and level. Job completed as stated for the stated price and service better than I expected. I'd use these guys again and recommend them to my friends. ______________________ WoW, what a difference a day makes. Ok, Recap. CBS Plumbing contractor comes out, scopes the lines before job. Says OK. CBS comes out, starts polyfill. Turns out that the Plumbing contractor screwed up. Bad lines. Crushed when polyfill started. No Kitchen drain, no floor lift. I'm a sad guy.. After discussion, CBS sends out a crew the next day. They dig out 8 feet of bad sewer line under 6 inches of concrete, and replace the line, at no extra cost. All systems back on line. Now, I'm a happy guy! Tomorrow, the crew is scheduled back on site to finish the lift and fill the concrete which needed to be dug out. Bottom line, CBS was screwed by their plumbing contractor. They came out the next day and did the right thing. Good company. Good guys. I'd use them again. Also, if you have plumbing lines in the area of your lift, make sure that they are in good shape, or, plan to replace them or not lift around them. read more

So I bought a duplex in Wheatridge and the seller agreed to foundation repair and hired Rod Martin but the work would be done after closing. I remodeled the unit directly above the foundation work and when they called to schedule the site inspection I asked if the engineer could contact me because I was going to be there working on the place when they were there. I put down ceramic tile and obviusly did not want it damaged and was concerned about movement. Apparently, the engineer went into the crawl space took a look and left. So when they called I asked why he did not knock on the door and again requested that he call me. Weeks went by no call. Then they called advising they were going to do a sewer line locate and I again asked the engineer to call. No call. Then they called advising the work was going to happen as scheduled and just for a laugh I asked for a call for a 3rd time. Again Engineer A. McClish apparently just couldnt bring himself to make a phone call. I have no idea if they did a good job because I am not a structural engineer. I told the guy doing the work to not move the walls at all just stabilize them since I had no call from the engineer to find out if any movement was going to take place. I have been told that the engineers at Rod Martin are conract labor meaning the engineer could give a rip whether I am happy or not. That is on Rod Martin for being too cheap to put an engineer on the payroll that can return a call. read more

I can't say enough good things about Rob Gold at Complete Basement Systems. We had a crawlspace that was lowered at some point to fit a furnace and water heater. The foundation walls required the support of a retaining wall. The foundation also needed new pillars. Rob was very professional in explaining the needed repairs and went above and beyond to get us a reasonable price. II saw the positive reviews and talked with them several times, then had CBS level my garage floor and add support under settling front steps. The start was excellent, the person that estimated the job was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions in plain English. The actual work was barely acceptable. The 2 man crew they sent were not adequately trained, I was with them most of the time and had to point out things they were not addressing. I knew this because the estimator said these things would be done. At the end all of the slabs were cracked, All the matching joints between slabs were uneven, the drilled holes were not all filled, the material they spread over the cracks was not applied well, lumpy, not over the entire crack, where the injected material oozed out was not cleaned properly, etc. I've talked to CBS and they moan and say they're family owned, small and don't know what happened. They have never returned my call once the job was done and have never come out to see the job site. I would never recommend this company. I hope they don't call me now as I want nothing to do with them. Since then I've had my back patio leveled, a solid slab at aprox 2 times larger than the front work and the workmanship was excellent. No cracks in a solid slab of concrete patio, 10' x 30' that had to be raised just over 3" against the house foundation. read more

Salesperson very informed about product, and able to help with advice on product choice.There were a few issues with the company with financing issues (first offered, then salesperson realized not available, ended up paying out of pocket which was okay), A date was scheduled for installation then two weeks later called to schedule a date. Seems like the office does not communicate with each other. The sales person states he has no leeway (financially) to make up for the companies mistakes (i.e.: take money off, or add vent covers for free, etc.) The installation crew was efficient. All in all the product is amazing. However, the miscommunications with the company almost swayed my business elsewhere. read more

UPDATE: After my review went live I was contacted by their Marketing Manager who spend a good time with me on the phone getting more details about the situation. He assured me that they are making changes in communication and took my review and my input into consideration when revising their procedures. He offered to personally visit the work site and demonstrate the functionality of the system. I met with him and he spent a good amount of time making sure that all details are explained and demonstrated. He got some additional details about the lapses of communication that I've experienced and assured me, again, that they're working on fixing them. I was also contacted by the owner of the company who also asked for details of my experience and assured me that he'd personally look into it. The final installed product is what the described it to be and they appear to be working on fixing their communication and customer service lapses. The materials and equipment they use are top of the line, but the prices are not unreasonable. You know you are getting a long-term solution. The crew was on time every day. Do not use this company! The salesman will recommend work that the crews can't perform and the work they actually complete is not up to industry standards. Unprofessional salesman, crews, and supervisors. Once the work began I was given every excuse why it couldn't be performed as contracted yet the $10,000 price remained the same. First time I've ever had such a horrible experience with any company that has worked in any of my homes in the last 24 years. So much so that I've had to get bids to correct their work. I have been told the work that was completed isn't up to code and must be replaced. I was also shocked that they actually used a plastic bag and two clamps to secure an exterior drain hose to the sump pump pipe on the outside of my $4million home! I can't stress just how unprofessional this company is and their work is so inferior and they should not be allowed to take advantage of homeowners. My case with them was so unacceptable that we are going to court as a last resort because they refuse to fix their shoddy work. They came out three times and just did patch work. Therefore, I've refused to pay the remainder of the invoice. The quotes to fix their work range from $6500-$11,500! Stay away from this company. I will be posting pictures on this and other sites so prospective homeowners can see firsthand why they should not hire this company! I engaged with Complete Basement Systems based on their rating with the BBB and thought they were an upstanding and honorable company. I had seen some good reviews concerning their work, but I wasn't diligent enough because after researching more, I found many complaints on google and yelp, and other review platforms, and now even with the BBB. Complete Basement Systems has you apply a substantial deposit (thousands of dollars) for their estimated work. I am willing to pay for a reasonable estimate of recommended work but not thousands of dollars. Complete Basement Systems doesn't tell you (even though it's listed in the contract) that you will lose the deposit if you back out of the contract even though they haven't completed anyof the work listed on the contract. That means you will be paying thousands of dollars for nothing more than an estimate from them by a sales person. This person is not even a structural engineer. Also, (and I see that another person put forth a very similar complaint here with the BBB in 08/2021 concerning the same issue) Complete Basement Systems wanted an asbestos testing. Why would they have us sign a contract, knowing that it could possibly be, that we wouldn't go forth with the work recommended by them after the findings of the asbestos testing. I feel the same as the person who already filed a similar complaint concerning this back in 08/2021. This company is fully aware of this possibly being the situation and yet they still required a non-refundable deposit, that was never verbally expressed as being non-refundable, during the contract signing. This is their way of taking money for work not even begun by them. This is pretty shady. I am wondering how many other people they have duped into signing a contract for work, even if not done, they plan on collecting money for. read more

Be very careful when hiring this company. We had them fix a concrete problem at our home and they subcontracted the work out to a subpar contractor. The concrete poor was substandard and has started to crumble. When we called to complain they said they couldnt help because it was the contractors responsibility, but WE PAID THEM TO do the work. Basement Systems did some foundation work in our basement 8 years ago. After having an engineer come in, he had questions about the work that was done. Basement systems honored their warranty and came back out at no cost to both investigate the work and fix the work that wasn't done correctly 8 years ago by a completely different team. They worked with our schedule, had amazing customer service and fixed the issues in a timely manner. Their crew of today knew what they were doing, worked well with our engineer and gave us peace of mind that the issues were handled correctly this time around. read more

We discovered wet floorboard and carpet in the corner of a basement bedroom. We called Complete Basement Systems to infer about a french drain, and Daniel Pierce looked over the damage and told us the best option was the "WaterGuard" piping system and a "SuperSump". After 1 day of labor and $7000 we still have a water problem. When we called/emailed/texted numerous times, we got no call back asking what issue we were having. An admin stated they were switching computer systems, and Daniel Pierce texted he was "On vacation". Two different spanish speaking gentlemen arrived the following day but did not fully understand what we were telling them about our issues. They did cut a hole in the plastic sheathing to pull electrical wiring out (overlooked in both rooms) but the sill plate and rim joist behind the plastic is wet, so we cannot re-drywall at this time. After consulting with 2 other companies, we're told the Sump Pump was unnecessary, the landscape outlet is not far enough away, and we still have to pay someone to channel water away from our home. It seems their go-to solution does not fit every situation, so beware of what they are selling. read more

Perhaps this is a given, but the person they send out to inspect the problem area(s) is a salesperson, not a structural/construction/etc expert. In other words, their goal is to sell you their products, which may or may not address the root cause of your issue. We had a moisture intrusion issue, and were told that we needed ~$12,000 worth of sump pumps (plural! For all the crawl spaces, even the ones that were dry, upper crawl spaces, and slopped towards our existing sump pump), dehumidifiers, and new vapor barriers since our old ones were dirty. To cover all of our bases, we hired a structural engineering firm to come out and inspect everything. Their assessment was that everything was structurally sound, our foundation and grading were non-issues, and that we just need to caulk specific areas to keep water from coming in from above. We were further told that all of Complete Basement System's recommendations would not have made any difference (except for perhaps the dehumidifier) since water was coming in from above vs through the ground or foundation. So now we have a relatively easy and inexpensive solution, whereas Complete Basement Systems wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount for a "solution" that would not have even worked. As an aside: when I asked about the background of the inspector that they sent out, he said he used to be in education and home improvement sales. Unless someone is certified with the state in structural engineering, they should not be giving their opinion on structural issues (and wouldn't you know it, they have a product for you!) Basically, a solution is only as good as a proper diagnosis of the problem. We personally thought it was worth it to pay for an expert, unbiased opinion to correctly diagnose the issue vs paying $12k for an incorrect solution. Now, if the structural engineer, or someone who is certified with the state and unbiased, told me that we needed sump pumps, etc, then I would have felt more confident in implementing Complete Basement System's solutions after shopping around. read more

I'm a real estate agent and have had Daniel Pierce from Complete Basement Systems come out to two properties where I was representing the buyer and the inspection had turned up some extensive mold issues, and we needed a quote for the repairs and an estimate of the extent of the damage. He is very thorough, very knowledgeable, and in both cases helped both me and the buyers understand what the problem was, and how it could be properly fixed. Each time he has come out to the property, both I and the buyers and the sellers have been left with a better understanding of the situation and how to remedy it, and why it happened in the first place. Daniel was so great at explaining everything in detail to all parties involved, and bringing clarity to a potentially very stressful situation. I completely trust that he knows what he is doing and highly recommend him and the company to all my clients who are in need of help with their basements! Came out to see what the issue was with water in my crawl space. It was on one side of the house. They recommended a $12000 "fix" that included 3 sump pumps for a small house. Later I went outside to examine things and found a crack in my downspout. Weeks of heavy rain had been going straight down by the foundation. A $6 fix for a new downspout. read more

Do yourself a favor and hire an independent structural engineer if you suspect you might have foundation issues. Should cost between 200 - 300. That said I called Complete Basement Systems about an issue I was having in the basement with my floor dipping. Matt came out and checked on our house and showed us a what he thought was our problem. Their Engineer came out to confirm Matt's fix. They claimed I had settling problems on one corner of my house. They also claimed the would correct the grade once they were done installing the piers. Fast forward to several months and 11k later not only did my issue not get fixed it got worse. When digging by my house they cut the power to my septic and broke the french drain under my house. They also made the grade worse when they back filled the dirt with my landscaping rocks mixed in. I called RDCBS about my growing list of problems. Met with several people including their engineer. Their fix was to pier the whole foundation and some other work. Since their first fix seemed to only make matters worse I got a second opinion. The new independent structural engineer could better explain what was happening with my house and the fixes that RMCBS proposed were never going to fix my problem. Turns out I did not need to pier anything and I have a drainage issue. I have had other contractors confirm. So long story short I am out the money to Complete basement systems, but I still have to pay to regrade my house and fix the items Complete Basement systems broke when they were here. read more

We weren't quite prepared with the stuff you have to make to take things 4 feet away from the wall so they started right away outside while we pulled things out of the house to make room. They made no negative or derogatory comments and were kind and patience. The job took the time they it would and when it was complete it looked great.
