Chase put the bid together on the spot, while thoroughly explaining each line item. There was no attempt to upsell or pressure to make an immediate decision. HomeStrong's bid turned out to be the lowest price, had a great warranty, and included everything we needed. I got a good vibe based on the professional manner in which the bid was prepared. I had a unique issue that required a structural engineer evaluation, which was included in the bid. Lalo and Daner arrived as scheduled to do the crawl space and had to alter the original plan a bit. They completed the project in two days (original estimate was three) and everything was left clean. They were friendly, polite and seemed to genuinely care about making sure I was satisfied. After accepting the bid, I did have to reach out to Chase a couple of times when there delays in communication. He was able to get things moving quickly. Overall, I was very satisfied and can recommend HomeStrong for crawl space encapsulation.

Job 1 (foundation). Workers good guys and by appearances competent to do job, as was the materials used. They had to bring in backhoe for our 6 ft foundation (we live on hillside with springs where houses commonly shift)- I checked on work and it seemed sound. However, they ran day behind and we had to leave when they backfilled and finish that part of job. It had rained previous 2-3 nights and basically they left yard in a mess that will necessitate me bringing in a landscaper to repair (i.e. more than the topsoil disruption they put in contract- dirt clods the size of soccer balls 25 ft away from foundation wall). My recommendation- make absolutely sure you are present to see finished job before you let them leave- I would never have approved the mess they left the yard in. Not really their fault as they were moving mud vs dirt, but they should've left it and came back the next week to finish. Job 2 (driveway and front approach leveling). It turned out this was an unachievable outcome & there is still 2.5 inch "trip" edge between driveway and garage floor. They should never has bid the job. We contested the job as a breach of contract since goal of job not even close to achieved. Gen Mgr came out & agreed. On my threat to taking to small claims court, they refunded me most of cost of that job. Again, they were responsive to my concerns & outcome OK in the end as avoided court hassle. Lesson here: think about what they are proposing is even possible before agreeing to it. The suggestion is that the job solicitors are working on a commission. If you doubt it can be done, it probably can't- have them describe EXACTLY how they will achieve the proposed outcome. Again, no problem whatsoever with the employees- all did their jobs well.

I contacted the city of Aurora and there has not been a request for a permit. They will put me off months and then more. I may need to hire an Attorney. They have not been honest with me and I would not trust them. They have a number of other bad reviews and I still recommend using someone better than GROUNDWORKS.

Good project planners would have postponed, but Liftech took down a section of fence (creating a hazard for our dogs), parked a backhoe in our yard, and damaged our neighbors property in the process. Then it was too wet to work - so this mess sat there for weeks. Once work started, it must have been the practice session for the guy on the backhoe - they ended up damaging our seamless steel siding, requiring replacement of a large section of siding, which caused a delay in project completion. Replacing a basement window with an egress window should've been easy - but the crew tossed the removed window onto our rock landscaping, leaving another hazard for visitors with small children, us, and our dogs.. Despite our patience with them while their heavy equipment was parked on our yard, Liftech was unwilling to wait until our siding repairs were complete for final payment. We explained repeatedly that we were waiting for final invoicing from the siding contractor (by now we were not confident they would reimburse for excess expense for repairs) - but Liftech filed a lien against our house instead of having an adult conversation. Then last fall while doing yard cleanup, we realized that they had left a gap between the foundation wall and base plate of our home - full sized leaves were blowing into our basement. Their response: Not our responsibility - go to Home Depot and fix it yourself. Gee, it seems like after paying them this much money they could've restored the house to a safe, sealed condition. Save yourself some heartache and hire someone else.

Over one year later and after hiring a different contractor we are finally finishing the project. Rob Turley was recommended to us by the engineering firm (Level Engineering) we used which gave us reason to choose him over the other two contenders. After several months of growing problems - schedule related and work quality - we terminated our relationship with Rob. We hired a different contractor to finish the project discovering there were many re-dos to the work already done that included structural, electrical (5M Electric was the subcontractor), supposedly completed finish work, a master bath disaster and MUCH clean up. Many things (a couple of examples being our exterior doors and a window well cover) were damaged by Rob's crew due to lack of caring when bringing materials in and out and our property was almost always left a mess at day's end. Permit inspections were not scheduled when required. Structural work was not done to engineering specs and covered up so newly constructed walls had to be opened up and the support beams redone to specs and code. The list of poor workmanship is lengthy! If you choose to use Construction Services/Rob I suggest running a background check on Rob Turley so you make an educated decision before choosing him as a contractor. We skipped that step based on the referral until we started having issues and boy wished we had not! Also strongly recommend getting lien waivers for all his subcontractors, which includes most of his crew since they too are subcontracted, not employees. Ensure the subcontractor signs them - suggest witnessing their signing or obtaining yourself as it became questionable who actually signed the liens we were given. While Rob is a likeable man our experience, which started out trusting, became a costly nightmare. Thanks to wonderful city inspectors, an engineer who went above and beyond and the quality contractor who took on the challenge we discovered and corrected many serious issues before we had to start completely over. Now we hold our breath that what we did not find holds up. Goes without saying but we would not recommend Construction Service, LLC/Robert Turley for any project - large or small. B.C.
