I'm not sure if I'm worthy of writing a review here, because I'm not into wood working or anything which would require me purchasing most of the equipment they have for sale here. I went in because I wanted to check out some of the guitars they talked about on their website which the owner custom made. Unfortunately they didn't have any to check out. However I noticed there was more than one poor review on Yelp regarding Grizzlies customer service. I wanted to chime in, as while I made it clear that I wasn't interested in buying anything I did have some general questions about their shop as I had never heard of them or their equipment before. The sales guy I was speaking with was more than happy to talk to me about them. Advising they were a local company, which designed their own equipment which they then had manufactured overseas, which is why it has their own logo on it. They do have one other show room out in Washington or Oregon the guy told me (I don't remember state to be honest) but that that showroom wasn't nearly as big as this one. So to be fair, while I didn't buy anything and can't attest to the quality of it, I will say that their customer service inside the store with somebody who was honest about not wanting to buy anything was pretty spot on. read more

I went here just to kind of check them out. I was looking for a couple things, but as soon as I walked inside I knew I was way outside of my pay grade. They are more for serious professionals than people like me. They did have a good deal on safety glasses and I got a pair of them. I just don't need most of the kind of things they have. Called to get some info on a Scratch and dent item. Mary hung up on me and then when I called back I was told that it was company policy not to give out any information on those items and that I would have to come into their facility in person. I'm not going to drive 2 hours, one way, just to get a price on an item that they have sitting there, especially if I have to drag a 16' trailer there and back in the event that I do purchase the $8k+ item. Their company policy not only just lost them this $8k sale but all future sales as well. I now regret giving them all of my business previously where I have spent in excess of $20k with them. Talk about customer service!!! They REFUSE to give any information over the phone, just to get you in the store. I will never waste my time buying their equipment again. I plan to take my business elsewhere. So who knows how much $$$$ this just lost them. read more

I am really surprised that a corporation would loose a $13000.00 cash sale because of Saia freight would not deliver to my location. They said that they would not come down a gravel road. I own a small ranch in Texas. I am doing a total renovation on an old home on that property. I have had multiple concrete trucks and 18 wheelers deliver here many times. None of these trucks had a problem getting in and out in bad weather. The gravel road is about 100 yards long. If I was Grizzly I would find a new and more accommodating freight company. I have bought several pieces of equipment from them in the past . And the only glitch that I have had was with their freight. Also the crates on all of my shipments were damaged pretty bad. Fortunately most of the machines were ok except for some scratches and missing bolts which I replaced. Because of this bad experience I am through with Grizzly. Everyone better do their research before buying from them! read more

Ordering from Grizzly was a total mistake. I should have purchased my new lathe locally. I might have paid a little more. But after 5 weeks, I wouldn't still be waiting for the lathe to arrive. Now to be honest, I knew there would be a 2 - 3 week delay before shipping. The lathe I wanted wasn't in stock. But more were expected. So that part I was ready for. But the 2 weeks (and still counting) in shipping it to me was not expected. And though Grizzly has no control over UPS Freight's foot dragging, they knew (or should have known) UPS Freight was going to take 2 weeks or more to deliver my lathe from Springfield, MO to Toledo, OH. I've contacted Grizzly to try to get them to pressure UPS Freight from their end. But all I've gotten is a telephone lecture that I just have to be patient since it may be another week or even two before I finally receive my lathe. At this point, I'm considering refusing the shipment when it arrives and letting UPS Freight haul it all the way back to Springfield. But I have no doubt Grizzly will stick me for the shipping. So I won't get a full refund. Call it lesson learned. Avoid Grizzly if you need to have your order shipped. read more

I have purchased a few shop tools here and supplies here. I live in the Springfield area so I shop in person. The reason I can't give them 5 stars centers on a quirk with their online shopping. Much of their inventory is not out for purchase on the store floor so you have to order it by way of the cashier. It appears you can order it online and select showroom pickup to avoid the freight charges. I have tried this to save time so that I could just pickup my order at the showroom. Both times it appeared to work up to the point I checked out and paid for the order online when the freight charge was added on. The staff in store has been super friendly and helpful. The cashiers get the problem with the freight fixed but it takes a bit. The best way to shop in the store is look up the parts online and make notes of the items you want along with the item number then use the pencil and paper order form in the showroom. Be sure to bring your own pen or pencil all the ones in the showroom are chained down. The showroom is clean and has a lot of interesting projects displayed as well as MANY different tools and variations. The staff are helpful and friendly in the showroom and at the warehouse when you pickup items. read more

I have spent about 9 thousand dollars in this Springfield store. I was almost duped into purchasing a scratch and dent item that I later learned had the incorrect fence. (12" jointer) after about an hour in the scratch and dent room, and my inner self smelling a rat, I decided to purchase the new crated item and I'm glad I did. When I got home an assembled my jointer I realized what was wrong with the s and d jointer, it had the wrong fence and was scraping the bed at full length and could contact cutter. I believe the sales person gets a cut when s and d sells. I was given "his" card and was told not to worry "you have my card" . There is no warranty on the machine when it leaves as scratch and dent. Only the motor is checked to work properly, on a 3000+ jointer that isn't enough. I would have gotten home and had a big paper weight. Bottom line, don't trust s and d oh and the card he gave me was just to the store not him. Don't fall for the nonsense, sure glad I trusted my gut. I have no issue with the tools as of now. read more

Ordered a band saw on Sunday, it was shipped on Monday. Called customer service on Saturday to find where my saw was and they told me I would have to wait until Tuesday because Monday was a holiday and Tuesday would be the fifth day. I called UPS on Tuesday and they said the shipment was lost. I called Grizzly back and they said I would have to wait another 24 hours for shipping to call me back to decide what action would be taken. All they had to do was call UPS to verify the lost shipment but that was not there policy. Canceled shipment and will not by from grizzly again. Once they get your money they don't care about anything else. DO NOT recommend this company for anything. I will Put the word out to everyone I know. read more

Purchased a $26 screwdriver bit set online. Shipping was slow and when it finally arrived, the plastic case was broken. Emailed customer service and was getting the runaround. They finally sent a free replacement. Have purchased rifle bullets from an affiliate in the past and service has been good. read more

Drove 3.5 hours to buy a metal lathe. Two sales people were standing there talking to one another neither of which offered to assist me. When someone did come over to help I informed him that if they would offer some kind of discount I would be buying a milling machine as well. I only brought that up because a sales rep on the phone informed me that was a common practice. The sales person in the store said that would be up to the manager. But he made no attempt to check and see if anything could be done. He just wrote up the ticket and checked inventory. Any employee that works a drive thru window could have done that. I also informed him that I was new to metal working and was looking for input on tooling for the lathe. That garnered no response at all. In conclusion had I not just driven 3.5 hours and needed the lathe. I would have walked out with nothing. read more

All the equipment is top-notch. The store was clean (actually had a couple of grizzlies in there) and well organized. I used to love Grizzly. Good products at a good price. Earlier this year I got a call from a freight office more than hour away that I had a pallet from Grizzly. I didnt remember ordering anything from them but I had purchased a couple of large pieces from them a few weeks earlier(Southbend lathe and mill) and thought that it might be something for one of those items that they forgot to give me. After getting it home and unwrapping the pallet, I realized that they had sent me a drill press by mistake(Item #G7944). Also 2 more boxes arrived at my shop by UPS with other missent items. I contacted Grizzly and they told me to take the pallet back the freight office and the other packages to UPS. I explained that I didnt think that I should have to inconvenience myself over their mistake and that they should send someone to pick it up. The rep on the phone agreed. 2 weeks later grizzly called me back and said they were sending the freight company out. I explained they couldnt send a semi because they couldnt get a truck that large to our building. She said she needed to make a call. Two more weeks pass by and I get a call from the freight office to schedule a time for pick up. They were going to send an 18 wheeler to pick it up. I explained to him that wasnt an option and he said "I'll call you back".... a few weeks later I got a certified letter from Grizzly threatening to send me to collections for $800. I called Grizzly immediately and explained I was very upset and they needed to come get the items. And yes I probably raised my voice because I'm pretty upset about getting a collection letter. Then they finally after a few more days sent a box truck out. ......... So just the other day I went to place an order with grizzly online and the next day I got an email stating that they werent going to do business with me and cancelled my order. So now I'm being punished over a mistake on their part? No big deal to us, we will give our money to someone else. And since I cant buy parts or supplies for our Grizzly Equipment, we will be replacing every Grizzly item in our shop. With the exception of the Southbend equipment because we love those. I sure hope no one else has an issue like this and hopefully Grizzly will look into their customer service issues! read more

They had the part we needed, but purposely withheld information so that we were forced to buy from them. No big deal except we needed it very fast. The only shipping option "Debbie" was willing to use was their own slow boat, out of MO and we are in Oregon. I even offered to put it on our account if we could use a faster carrier and she made it sound so difficult that we had to jump through hoops and basically would not do it. She said she was in Bellingham and just did not want to do anything to help us out. The whole experience was very shady. I hope that is not how the entire company runs. read more

So I ordered the grizzly 9-inch bandsaw during the Black Friday Sales Event 11/28, my order shipped 12/1 and was delivered 12/3 I did not open the package until 12/20 I noticed the upper cowling had a lot of metal shavings and I was disappointed that they could not simply wipe that out as part of their QC process. The chip blower did not work the chip blower attachment nozzle was broken and the LED light did not work. I called and complained ask for a new saw. They said okay they would take care of it. That they would send me a return method. A week went by and I had not had any correspondence so I called again 12/28 and they said they had my parts ready to ship to me I told them I was not interested in rebuilding a brand new saw that should be functioning in the first place and I needed to replace the saw they said that they would send me a way to do so they finally did and I returned the saw. Now I'm still waiting on my saw and still waiting for them to reply to one of my many emails that they continue to ignore upon when am I going to receive my saw read more

Just purchased a few things from there website. Even though it says I can pick up my order from the showroom, it wouldn't give me that option at checkout. I was going to make the 3 hour drive to the showroom because one of items I bought was a big heavy bandsaw and it cost $89 for freight. When I called customer service they were rude and had a bad attitude. Told me the band saw was already shipped but because I didn't pay for liftgate service they will not deliver it and that I had to pick it up in St. Louis. Then they put the rest of my order on hold instead of shipping it too. When I called they said they put it on hold so that I can still drive there to pick it up. Why would I pick the rest of my order up when the band saw was already shipped?!!! I haven't even received my stuff and I'm already done with this place!! Never again read more

Bought a Grizzly hardwood nailer when they had a Military discount for a short time. As I knew I would be putting in hardwood months from now. That thing ended up being a total pos. It got one room done. No matter how you adjusted air it would split tongues or not set nails. If trying to set a warped board it would mar it. After one room it just failed. O rings broke. I debated repairing it. Since I had it to long to return. Decided it would be to much down time to do that every room. Bought a Bostich from Lowes. Flooring went in twice as fast. No splitting. Boards went together with ease. No setting nails. Amazing like butter. The identical box of nails is $6 cheaper at Lowes. $18 instead of $24. They offer a Military discount at Lowes all the time as well. It's also annoying buying stuff here. You go see a cashier in the back and wait buy a window while its pulled from the warehouse. They have a nasty Koi pond in the middle of the store too. Clean that thing. I guess to some up Grizzly. If you want the cheap junk with their name on it, come here buy it then kick yourself to make using it more enjoyable. If you want to buy the name brand tools like Dewalt or nails, bits etc. . Save your money go to Lowes, Home Depot and least we forget Amazon.com. read more

I purchased an item from the Springfield location that exceeded 400.00 in cost. Three weeks later, it went on sale. I called and asked if Grizzly, like other stores, would refund the difference since it was less than 30 days after purchase. I was told that it would be researched and someone would call me back. They did not. My second call to the store revealed that it was in the system that someone should have called me to tell me that because the sale was beyond 2 weeks of purchase, there was nothing they could do. We're just starting a project, but finished with Grizzly. read more

I have used Grizzly for a number of years for machines for my shop. Always very good quality. This week I ordered the G0694 wood lathe. $3000. It arrived as a half ton crate. Required having a company with a fork lift to get it off truck and put in shop and remove crate. After the things required to start up are completed, there it goes. It's not functional. Factory defect. Call Customer service. we'll have tech call first thing in morning. Eleven am, no call. I make contact. Finally we know what is wrong. I said take it back and send one that works. They say we'll send you a 200 pound part, you tear it down and fix it yourself. This would include removing head, belts and all electronics. I think not. Machines are good until you get the lemon, then they don't stand behind the product. Consumer beware, pray you get the one that works. read more

grizzly's automated answering service is horrible. i called the local number which gave me a dozen options non of which i needed then it transferred me to national head quarters, then that gave me an option for contacting the springfield location which went right back to the original automated answering service i got the first time! dont waste your time calling these people read more
