I personally want to give a great big Hug & SHOUT-OUT to Wendi in the Garden Dept. Being a Widow & NOT knowing anything about the extensive CARE that one needs to take on our lawns, Wendi has helped me sooo much. My Hubby always took great pride in his lawn, at his young age of 14 he knew just about as much as a very experienced Gardner that has been in the business for 40 yrs. And I'm glad he can't see what I haven't/have done to my lawn. Wendi didn't make me feel guilty @ all. sashes is definitely a huge asset to this fine establishment. When our well decided to stop, it was the worst timing. We had company, it was a school night and it was late at night. Our neighbors got together and did a quick diagnostic and found the capacitor culprit. I was elected to be the purchaser of said new part due to schedules. I got to Nixa hardware before 8 am and at 8 I walked through the door desperate for my new capacitor. Danny was in plumbing and with the old capacitor - found the new one in 30 seconds. I was paid paid and on the road at lightening speed. This is how Nixa hardware is - nice, efficient, as if I ran to my expert neighbors house. I love this place and I am so happy to give them the business. We got a garden box recently and their staff expertly helped me load it in my truck so it was safe for the ride home. We were in vacation and we always stop here to check the new fireplaces and what ever else in the store. This place is a must see place. They have lots to see in this store. The fireplaces they have are unique. They have new pellet ones you can purchase. The staff there is very helpful and caring people. So stop by and check the place out! We like to support local business. I'm very disappointed to write this review. We took a weedeater in for repair on 5 April. We got it back on 8 July. We were told it would be three weeks. When I called after six weeks I was told that they have moved other jobs that are more important in front. We were not told that when we dropped it off. Each week I would be told oh one more week. If they had just been honest I wouldn't have been as upset. I recently read other reviews that were the same. If you give a Customer a time frame you should stick to it, if you're not going to then be upfront on your policy of you'll get it when you get it. You've not only lost our business for repairs but you've lost all our business. read more

I have lived in Nixa for 15 yrs and said to myself min 30x that im done with this place. Anyone that thinks competition is bad needs to start doing business here. Pros- location as im only 2 miles away; they do carry items not easily obtained at big box; knowledge of staff is simply all about finding the right cat, which sometimes is impossible. There are a few good ol boys there that sometimes lack knowledge of latest tech/products but make up for it with some of there wisdom. Is a local business, but no excuses... Cons-inventory control sucks. They are constantly out of the one item, size, style, etc that you need, its terrible. There hours of operation stink. Ya, i get it, there gonna try and hang onto those family values...thats great and all but for the rest of us that work, makes it awful hard to try and get there with adequate time. AND....if you are lucky enough to get there without the door being locked at 5-10 mins before they close, better get what u need and RUN to checkout before your so politely escorted to it! Then, pray that your now not locked in the parking lot. Bottom line...i make a point to shop elsewhere when i can read more

The guys inside were absolutely wonderful to work with. BUT the guy I had outside load my pallet of pellets was very unkind and made me feel like I should have known everything. Saying it was "amusing" that I didn't know everything. I REALLY hope you have a different experience, but when you are part of a locally owned business the employees CANNOT treat their customers like that. If anything they should be eager to teach customers. Especially when you have a variety of different demographics of customers. read more

I purchased a pellet stove from them this winter. When we were having some bad weather I couldnt get it to start up. BUMMER. I called the store and one of the employees couldnt make it in because of the snow. I called one of the managers, and she said all her tech guys were not in the store. BUMMER. Then she contacted one of them at home for me, said she couldnt say for sure if he would call. HE DID. Gave me three different options for getting it started. One of them worked. HUGE selection, especially for plants and seeds! Every time I go to lowes or Home Depot, they don't have something that I went there for. Nixa Hardware has a lot larger selection. I took off one star for having to drive around to the loading dock to get a bag of grass seed when the two other varieties I wanted were where I could get them myself. read more

Honestly, I can not think of anything but good when it comes to Nixa Hardware! They have always been very attentive, courteous and knowledgeable for all of our farm and home needs. Joey Glenn is top notch as are all of the staff that work there. The service desk and each dept desk has courteous and knowledgeable staff as well. You will/would be hard pressed to find a better store on all fronts for your needs. Great hardware store that stocks most anything you could possibly want or didn't even know you wanted. In fact, I've found that I want one of their beekeeper suits, but I don't even own any bees, however I could probably use it to scare door to door salesmen. They're very dog friendly and don't bat an eye when they see me come in with my dogs riding in the basket. The only problem is that they're about to either bankrupt me or get me murdered by my wife. I go in for a lock washer and come out with a chainsaw, I go in for a garden hose and I come out with a zero turn mower. This place is taking my money faster than my ex-wife used to. I probably need to break my addiction, but that would mean doing something drastic and/or unpleasant, such as hanging out at Walmart instead. Nope, not gonna happen! Poverty here I come, but I'll be bringing 26 bags of mulch with me, because it was on sale! read more

My first trip to the store, out of curiosity after seeing the ads on TV and a recommendation from a neighbor that it's a good place to buy seed, a high recommendation from an old timer since we live an hour's drive away. I wasn't disappointed, service was good. They took the time to explain what I needed to do on a Saturday afternoon (they were busy) and the selection is huge. I would've thought the place was a lot larger. All in all a good experience. read more

The people at Nixa Hardware do things no other store would do. My elderly parents bought a garage door opener at Nixa Hardware. When my dad couldn't program it, he called the store, and the employee who rang him up went by their house and programmed it on his way home from work! read more

It is the only place I can get parts for my pellet stove, they are fast and courteous which is hard to find anymore.

Customer service is almost always lacking. If you want help you will need to ask for assistance and even then they are not helpful. The employees are too interested in just talking to each other. I would much rather go to Lowe's or Home Depot where the employees are trained to help customers. read more

I am very disappointed with the Nixa Hardware. We took our mower in to be serviced 4 weeks ago and every time we call about it, we get the run around. We were originally told 3 weeks. We called last Wednesday and were told there was 5 ahead of ours and it would be ready Saturday. My mother called Thursday and they said there was 6 ahead of ours..:how does that happen?? It is now Saturday and no mower. If we ever get our mower back we will not be using the Hardware again! read more

I've had good experiences here, but my boyfriend says they always ignore him when he's in there. I've been in a lot of different hardware stores in different states and cities over the years, and it seems to be fairly typical that a woman in there by herself is going to be offered a lot more assistance than a guy. Not saying that it's right, just saying that seems to be the norm. I think Nixa Hardware is great. They have a good selection of quality products, much more than what can normally be found in a typical hardware store in a small-to-mid size town. I can typically find what I need there, instead of having to drive farther to go to the big box hardware/home improvement stores. If you're looking for appliances or a huge selection, go to the big box stores, but for the most part, I can find what I'm looking for here at a good price, whether it be animal supplies, paint supplies, things for projects around the house or various tools and hardware. read more

They couldn't match the paint they had just sold us. I needed to touch up an area that had just been painted with paint purchased from this store and they could not even match the color.They claim the original paint must have faded but it was very recently done and the paint had not been exposed to sunlight. I do not recommend buying paint from this store. read more

Customer service is rude, unprofessional, confrontational. Tried to buy a grader blade for my tractor; no price & no one could find a price. Refused to sell it to me. I was treated very, very rudely. Employees claim that the store has no supervisor and no manager, but there is an empty office with a "manager" sign above the door. read more
