Went here today to get a gift certificate for my wife's birthday. Everybody was very nice. I initially went to the wrong part and the girl even walked me out the door and showed me where I needed to go. That was pretty nice. Beautiful little place to walk around and check out the nursery and the fish. Also lots of nice plants, some upkeep needed but we enjoyed checking things out. Didn't buy anything so not sure what the customer service is like or anything. Will come back again hopefully to buy a Christmas tree! read more

This is by far one of my favorite greens houses that I have stumbled upon! The prices are a little higher, but the plants are in great condition and I believe that makes all the difference. I have been there twice in the past couple days and the staff is very friendly. They have everything from plants to other garden essentials. I ordered a large flower arrangement for my Mother via the FTD website to be delivered the day before Thanksgiving. It arrived in time, but it was the small version of the arrangement, (FTD offers 3 sizes of all arrangements) the roses were browning, the other flowers had several leaves missing and it was not the right colors. I spoke with some woman in the floral department on Friday and she was rude and made it sound like it was my fault. WHATEVER! I wrote FTD a nastygram about Wickman Gardens...hopefully they will get pulled as a provider. They clearly are unaware of customer service. I recommend Linda's Flowers instead. DO NOT USE! read more

Since the weather has improved, I've started dropping by here on the regular to browse their gorgeous selection of pre-potted succulents, herbs, and starter plants. This is easily one of the best nurseries in Springfield, if not the best - it's huge, the staff is knowledgeable, and the variety of plants is unrivaled. Plus, it's just a fun place to visit - I genuinely can't think of a place I'd rather spend a free hour at than a giant nursery. What I appreciate about Wickman's is that although you can find slightly cheaper plants at places like Home Depot, the difference in health puts the prices into perspective. I've spent a lot of time fussing over plants from big outdoor stores that pucker and wither soon after being taken home, while their counterparts (same species and everything) from Wickman's thrive. Obviously there could be a lot of reasons for this, but it definitely gives me the perception that Wickman's takes better care of its inventory and grows them well in the first place. That being said, I don't think the price disparity is that much, anyway. Recently I started a pallet garden and was really pleased that I could pick up baby ivy and ferns at Wickman's for about $1.50 a pop. In addition, one of the employees helpfully advised me on how long to keep them isolated until the last frost ends. Buying a bunch of plants with an air of impenetreble knowledge can be futile, so if I don't know how to do something or feel like I'm about to do something wrong, I definitely feel confident asking these employees for tips. At the expense of sounding cheesy, I think part of the reason I like Wickman's so much is because it really is a place that inspires creativity and an appreciation for the earth. You can buy a tiny Venus Flytrap in a cup or plan an entire landscaping project; either way, just about anyone can find something beautiful here. read more

Amazing plant nursery. Their entire staff is very kind; Kevin helped us with landscaping ideas, offering suggestions on what to plant outside our home and guiding us on how to plant. He was never pushy, and although they were very busy, he took the individual time to assist us in our decisions. Their plants might be a little higher in price than some of the other places, but you know you will receive healthy, well established, top quality plants and superb salesmanship and knowledge. WOW!!.. This place has it all.. Went nursery shopping with family and this was one stop. Out of 4 places, this is the best. My friend and I came rushing in 30 minutes before close looking for a bridal bouquet. The lady in the flower shop was incredibly kind. She helped turn some flowers in a vase into a beautiful bouquet for my friend's wedding. She did it quickly and kindly and didn't even charge an assembly fee. We were impressed with this customer service! The flowers were beautiful as well. Priced about what you'd expect. Maybe a little expensive. This place was huge and had everything! After christmas spending extravaganza! So, at this point, my mother, sister-in-law, and myself have perfected the morning after christmas shopping experience. My father gets up and brews coffee. We straggle up and get ourselves going. Once caffinated and dressed, we pile in a vehicle, preferably one with a large trunk or hatch, and head out shopping. (We really, really, really miss the navigator, may it rest in peace!! We do need a vehicle that size!) The whole drive consists of us congratulating ourselves for getting up and out (mind you it is normally 9 am or later... but we give and take compliments whenever possible) and discuss how we are not, Not, NOT going to spend too much money this year, and reiterate that we are buying gifts for other people, not ourselves. (Ya right, we never, ever mean that either!) A couple of years ago, we added Wickman's into our top list. We have one store we hit first (well, because, really, Waterford Crystal just does not go on clearance every day!!) and then we toddle on over. It is not convenient . In fact, it is out of the way. That is OK. We are fine with that. More for our greedy selves!! So, this year? We almost had to call for a back up vehicle, either that or strap one of us to the roof. I, being especially budget conscious, (just wait till I work full time again!) bought a fantastic Grinch like fantasy tree and another great table decoration. I was proud. I could carry my purchases all by myself. The same could not be said for my co conspirators!! My SIL bought out the house!! Two pre lit trees, a wreath, table top decorations, silks, as well as some fantastic ornaments. My mother found a santa, and about 300.00 of other stuff she had to have. So, we managed to pile all of this in the mid sized SUV my mother is now driving. I had Waterford champagne glasses from our first store scattered around my feet and body... My SIL was in danger of being impaled by a huge arrangement and about 7 waterford bells... The good news? We beat my father, brother and niece home. We were able to hide everything to bring home and out slowly....No need to shock anyone! read more

On Dec. 3rd I requested a landscaping consult. A few days later a represented came by and we talked about the project. On Dec. 10th the represented returned with a sketch and a tentative contract. At that time I requested an irrigation consult. After not hearing back from anyone for over a month, I called Wickman's to make sure make sure that the irrigation consult was on the books. I was told that it was. In the 10 weeks since that call, I have talked three times with the receptionist at Wickman's and was assured that I would receive a return call. None have been returned. It has now been over 100 days since I first talked with your landscape designer. I have no idea if you intend to do the work you promised. I have been polite and courteous in all interactions with staff. I am not complaining about the time. I just need a return phone call to assure me everything is still on track. They did some landscaping work but didn't do it right. They have poor ethics and they will cost us double to make right. Don't let them on your property. They are rude. Zero ethics. Takes advantage of the elderly. They offered to help with issue by charging more for the repair than the work actually cost the first time. read more

Do not request lawn irrigation service from them as they are completely non-responsive.

Gift shop has interesting merchandise but is extremely overpriced. Rude service on more than one occasion. It wouldn't cost them a dime to at least act like they have the customers' interests in mind. Costs them a lot in loss of future business not to. You can find comprable merchandise elsewhere, for less money and with a much more pleasant experience. read more

Great place to just stroll around. Although I always find something to buy. They have everything from your small herbs to big trees. A wonderful gift shop, and even have an upscale boutique that my wife loves to shop at. Every once and a while they will have events where they have vendors come and sell things like natural honey, or homemade candles. We always go because my daughter loves all the treats and horseback rides. Plus free BBQ. read more

We have used Wickman's to deliver flowers to my mother in law for years, and have always been happy with them. Also, they have a lovely store and facility! This year, we had Wickman's provide the flowers for my mother in law's 100th birthday party, and we were delighted with their work. The flowers were just beautiful! The staff used their creativity to create something really special. Since I wasn't sure what I wanted, I appreciated the helpfulness of the staff in putting together the perfect floral decorations for this event. read more

i dont think the left hand knows what the right hand is doing at this place! i ordered a load of mulch to be delivered. I placed my order on a monday, they said they would have it here that afternoon and if not then i'd have it the next morning. well the next morning came and went and no mulch. i called back into them and they said it would be that afternoon! Again by the end of that day no mulch no call from them as i was told i would get. i gave up and ordered from Load & Go Landscape.And on the 3rd day i got the call from a man at Wickmans saying i would have it that day.guess what still no mulch from Wickmans!!.. So now that it was over a month i got a email from Ozarks Deals, Wickmans had a 50% off anything coupon, so again i figured i'd give them a call to see if this was also for Mulch.I got passed around from person to person from hold to hold. then a nice lady asked for my name and # so they could check the left hand to see what was going on. it only took a hour of waiting and a few more calls to them to get a answer and still nobody really knew what to tell me. one person said i had til june to use the coupon and one person said it was over. so which was it. im still confused. i think they need to have meetings with the ppl who work there so everyone is on the same page w/each other. Thank God, for the ppl @ Load & Go Landscape, They were alot of help and knew what they were talking about and truely helpful. i had my Mulch that same day. since then ive had 3 more loads of stone and mulch delivered to my house from Load & Go. Plus it sure was Cheaper then Wickmans. Cheaper by more them $20.00 a load. I now tell Everyone to go to or call Load & Go for you Mulch & Stone needs.
