A great place after a couple of hours of taking pictures for fall. Found it on yelp with wonderful reviews and had to give it a try. Honestly, my friend and I, weren't really hungry for a meal, just an appetizer and this gem didn't missed. First of all, their decorate of scarecrows in the front of the store is freaking giving fall vibes, secondly, once you entered in the store, you're greeted by the beautiful display of their gift shop (Which I recommend you to see, they have a lot of cute things for home decor, camping, stickers, even socks! Got to see it) and right after you enter in the gift shop, there is the small cafe. You have the option for indoor dining or patio, I chose indoor since the atmosphere Lowkey reminds me of Sequoia. Services was AMAZING!! Always attentive and helpful and the food; OMG!! I'm a huge fan of biscuit and gravy but some places don't do it right, but Grizzly Cafe, their biscuit is HUGE and moist. They even add butter on the side, but it was not needed. (I don't like to add butter that's why, but if you do, please go ahead). Let me tell you, it's hard as it is to find southern gravy in Southern California; the other place is in Rancho Santa Fe (Home, sweet home) and this place NAILED it! Would come back next time when I'm around here and get it again. Keep in mind, my friend and I, wasn't that hungry but that plate of chili cheese fries was loaded!! Grizzly Cafe is a great restaurant in Wrightwood. The food is terrific, the service is exceptional, and whether in the dining room, counter or patio, the vibe is great! I bring my car club to the Grizzly a couple of times a year, anywhere from 20 to 30 people, and they all tell me how much they enjoy it there. A must stop when in Wrightwood. If you ever are in the area of Writewood and can't decide where to go, look no further..... I ended up here after New Years and walked into the most amazing display of Christmas ornaments and decoration. They have a little gift shop in the front and the atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming. The restaurant is a bit small and the most they can accommodate is a table for eight. It has a lot of character and is very charming. The food and service are superb. Patty melt - creamy and delicious Wings- a lot of meat on the bone and juicy Sweet potato fries - crispy on the outside and soft inside (the best I've ever had) Dipping sauces - perfect The waiter was very attentive and checked on us often even though they were really busy. We arrived at the Grizzly Cafe right before noon. Since it was a Thursday, we figured that it wouldn't be too busy. But we were wrong. Due to COVID restrictions only outdoor dining was allowed. We were told that it would be a 30-35 minute wait. But it wasn't too bad as they had a nice bench and swinging chairs to wait on. After about 20 minutes we were sat at a nice 3 person table in the shade. Let me also say that the staff at Grizzly followed all recommendations regarding COVID precautions. After being sat, our server came over immediately and took our order. She was very pleasant and professional. I ordered the Ortega Beef Melt sandwich with fries. My wife had the soup & salad. The Ortega Beef Melt was fantastic. A ton of beef on toasted sourdough. The fries were plentiful but a bit undercooked. My wife's salad was ok. The salad part was great, but her blue cheese dressing lacked flavor. Her soup though was fantastic. The soup was cream of broccoli. While some of the patrons were clearly locals, the majority were folks like us who drove up for lunch. It was well worth the drive and we definitely will be back. read more

After hiking approximately 10 miles along the Manzanita Trail to Islip Saddle, my hiking friends and I decided to replenish our bodies at the Grizzly Café. Our party of 5 was seated quickly upon arrival and everything was up to COVID-19 restriction standard -distanced tables, sanitized menus (menus also available online when special barcodes scanned) and staff wearing facemasks. Even the possibly fake (hopefully fake) taxidermy on the walls wore facemasks -kinda cute! It's a casual café with a small gift shop, and large menu selection. Very decent prices for the portion size of food served here. The salad I ordered was huge (for me). I ordered the Stuffed Avocado Salad, $11.75 which consisted of a stuffed avocado half with a choice of chicken or tuna salad, fresh seasonal fruit on a bed of mixed salad greens with choice of dressing on the side (I chose ranch). My salad came with a side of bread too. Service was able to accommodate separate checks and nice enough. Slight issue with change, for our group members who paid cash -but the problem was quickly solved. Single, clean ladies restroom, but glad there wasn't much of a wait. This adorable cafe is the perfect place to stop and refresh after driving the Angeles Crest Highway! It's so easy to find, right off the main road in a quaint little plaza and there's plenty of paved parking. They're doing great on the Covid safety measures...everyone wore masks and they had hand sanitizer out and tables had more than enough space btwn them outside. Seating is out on a large covered patio with plenty of shade and a nice breeze. Also, the staff could not have been nicer or more welcoming! They were attentive and helpful! And a man even came out and had a nice chat with me...I think he may have been the owner...such kind people! I ordered the Tuesday special which is a taco salad. I got it with ground beef and it was excellent! A huge portion too...I couldn't finish it! It had plenty of guacamole and great flavor, especially with the salsa they give you. I also took a chocolate malt to-go for dessert...it was packed full of creamy chocolatey malty deliciousness! My only issue was the raspberry tea...it was a tad bitter...but not a big deal at all. They also have a gift shop full of fun, shabby chic house wares and nick nacks...and they had a sale table outside too...the prices were awesome throughout the shop (and for the food as well)...I walked away with several cute items for home! I recommend this place with a caveat. We took our order to go as it would take too long to get a seat (Memorial Day Weekend). My burger came out great and to perfection however, my friend's tuna sandwich and my husband's hot grilled sandwich was underseasoned. The girls up at the front were kind and sweet but unfortunately forgot to give us our drinks, so we went back to pick them up. We failed to check for ketchup and utensils as well but by that time we were already sitting down and eating somewhere else. I want to chalk it up to them being busy and most likely learning on the job. Make sure to double check your order before you leave to make sure you drive away happy. I drove to Wrightwood for the first time to have some fun in the snow for my daughter's Birthday. We decided to stop along the side of the road where a lot of people were parked and spent awhile playing and taking photos in the beautiful landscape surrounded by pine trees and snow. Afterwards we drove to the Grizzly Cafe since this restaurant came highly recommended by one of the local businesses. Just a heads up, this place is small and it gets pretty busy so call ahead and make a reservation. We had to wait a little over an hour but we passed the time looking in the Mercantile store nearby. Soon we were called in and sat at a corner table. We looked at all the items available on the Menu and believe me there are a lot to choose from! We started off with the Mozzarella Sticks to share. I ordered the Tim Sandwich which is made up of fresh chicken breast, Avocado and melted Jack cheese served on grilled garlic sourdough bread with a side of French fries. I also got a cup of Clam Chowder soup with Oyster crackers which is my favorite!! Our server Braden was very friendly and very accommodating. He didn't mind answering our questions about different menu items or bringing us little things we needed. All the while keeping a smile on his face and a cheerful disposition! The cherry on top was when he brought an ice cream sundae with a candle to the table as a surprise for my daughter's 21st Birthday! We all sang to her and it was the perfect ending to a fun day! I did not eat any of it and just asked for a box. The drink I ordered was a hibiscus but tasted just as a light pink wine and it was almost $8 for not even a half a glass. I wish if can put zeroooo start yelp review for bad customer service, I drove an hour and half to try this restaurant, I arrived with my husband at 6:05 pm I asked the hostess how long is the wait she replied 25 to 30 minutes for a table and 15 minutes for counter top. I told her counter top will be fine because I have a long drive back home, I wait 20, 25,30 minutes .I went back to the hostess asking her about our wait she said I don't know I don't have your name on my list , so I have to hunt the other girl to ask about my name , I was shocked when she told me that I have to wait 20 to 30 minutes because they have to serve 17 guests before they seat us , and they don't have enough server but I don't like when a party came after us and they sat before me ,it is almost 7 pm and still waiting for small table , this restaurant is a joke very unorganized dirty restroom trash everywhere the lounge waiting area is like zoo, very rude staff liars never ever again don't waste your time shame on you guys . read more

Wow! Best best best breakfast PERIOD! The place is so cozy and there's little shopping you can do and it was fully packed when we got here so we sat at the bar.
