Food was good We had the clam chowder, fish and chips and pastrami sandwich. Would recommend all of them The ambiance was fine. A lot of non skiers waiting for friends and family to get out of ski school or finish skiing. The coffee is very basic but it's good. The bar is stocked The service is truly what makes it a stand out. We were there on a slower day so the 45 minute limit was not being enforced for keeping a table. We sat for hours and watched and listened to Victor CARE for everyone who came in. From his food and beer recommendations to his welcoming smile his customer service is unmatched and it truly was a joy to watch him interact with everyone who came in out of the cold. Without him, there's no Star Wars, 12 angry men, The magnificent seven and etc. Today, I made it to Mountain High Resoruce at Wrightwood. I can't live without " SNOW". Your blessing in the snow and here I am in the Bullwheel at winter storm warming. This place is unbelievable affordable and family friendly. Cozy, Comfortable and Blessing if you're thinking about snow when we were young, and all the good times we had, cheers us up. Unfortunately, I've to live in Los Angeles that no one know what is meaning of " Whiteout". When it snows - I have unlimited freezer space. I'm so itching to visit Vermont where friend of mine moved due to her glacier hiking and climbing hobby. You shouldn't be complaining about " service" because this is not a fancy snow resource from Colorado! #ykyk Just a 2 hour drove from the valley - Los Angeles. This is located in Mt. high resort by the snow school. When you sign up for a whole day lessons, this will be your perfect lunch spot. (The duration of Lunch hour in between lessons is 1 hour long.) So convenient and foods we had were delicious enough to come back next time we visit. Spacious sittings and nice enough day lights thru the window make this place cozy and comfortable. read more

We visit this lovely place on weekly basis. During every trip to Mt. High we end up grabbing a bite to eat at Bullwheel instead of the general cafeteria at the base. This place offers a static food menu, just a tad bit better than what's available at the cafeteria plus a full bar. Super awesome ski-lodge style, old school spot, right on the slopes. If you dont love this spot, likely you're not really a skier/boarder or overall "mtn person". Try the food court, down in Ontario, at the mall, when it opens. Seriously, I really like this spot. Service can be slow, but its limited staff. Relax. All I know is that the service always seems quick enogh to where I question if it's a great idea to take more runs. Food is always good. read more

Based on location (right by the ski slope) it's all you've got-- so why not give it 4 stars? Good actually decent and comfortingly home cooked appearances especially the pot roast! It's not fine dining but for eating while still wet from snow and shivering by the fire pit-- I say the place rocks! Friendly boarders and drinkers.... Kids with their parents-- tables everywhere-- TVs inside-- clean Bathrooms... What more can a girl ask for after running the slopes for 3 hours? Worst service ever. Deanne who they say is the supervisor has no business being the supervisor. She treated me like I had the coronavirus, avoiding eye contact and giving me all the signals to go away. If you're Asian don't come here. Xenophobia is real here. They will make you wait and hope that you leave. Only 2 Asian table in the seating area. Many empty tables, at least 5, with bar seats empty as well. I came in at 12:15 and left at 12:45. No one is taking our orders for 30 minutes while everyone else is being service and asking if they need anything else. I told them that I was ready to order and the male black server came to me saying that they be right with us and just walked back and forth asking other white customers who have been served if they need anything. I left since this business doesn't deserve my business. I been here many times since January and they are getting worst. I always tip over 20% and our order is over $50 each time. It was a beautiful day at Mountain High this Saturday, riding the hill with two very cool co-workers Brian and Russell. We were in luck as there was a nice, soft layer of snow on the runs and because of holiday shopping (at least that's what we thought it was), there were no lines and it was UNCROWDED! Couple that with blue skys and mild temperatures, and this little resort was absolute heaven. The lack of waiting for a lift meant quite a lot of riding and within a few hours, we were hungry. Brian recommended we try the bar and grill on the hill so one quick left turn down the bottom run later, we were up the stairs in in our seats at the BullWheel. Our waitress was totally on point, being attentive, but not too pushy, and very helpful adding personal suggestions on the menu. We were all a little confused as to why there were no burgers offered on the menu and when our waitress was confronted with that question, rather than being defensive, she empathized and masterfully redirected our attention to the beef dip or chili. When you add the fact that she looked like a younger version of Vanessa Williams, it was an unstoppable persuasion. Brian went with the chicken tenders and fries, Russell willingly fell victim to the beef dip, and I of course deferred to her suggestion of the chili bread bowl. ALL wins! Lunch was silent which is always a good sign as each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I can say that the chili was mild but did have just a zing of spice. It was exactly to my liking not being too tomato-ee. I also loved the fries which had a light batter on them, but what was more impressive was that it was a corked and curled FULL potato. BIG POTATO in every crispy bite. I loved them. I would ask them next time to toast the bread bowl to give it some color, heat, and crisp. Looking forward to my next trip to Mountain HIgh and BullWheel is a big reason why! :) read more

Snowboarding and Taco Tuesday?! Yes, you can do it all at Mt. High Today i went up with a two buddies for the 2 for Tuesday lift ticket promo and was pleasantly surprised by the Taco Tuesday promo going on at the BullWheel restaurant. After a morning of tumbling down the mountain we were ready for recharging. They serve beer here ($4-5 for bottles and $6-7 a cup for draft) as well as traditional fare such as hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and the like. We started off with the deluxe nachos which were $8, which I would normally consider expensive for nachos, but after all you're at a snow "resort" (you'll know why I used put that in quotations if you've been to Mt. High). The nachos had both nacho cheese and a shredded blend, chicken, jalepenos, quac, and sour cream. They were legit and a good size. Taco Tuesday promo starts after 12:30: 2 tacos for $1 (carnitas, beef, or chicken). We thought we would be hungry and ordered 6 tacos each but the nachos started to sink in and we were getting full. Turns out the cook made us 28 tacos instead of the 18 we ordered for 3 people (I've uploaded the hilarious picture). They didn't charge us for the extras but we faced with quite a dilemma. We didn't want to be stuffed since we had to get back on the mountain after lunch. We were told the tacos were small, but they weren't tiny or anything. The meats were good but the quality of the corn tortilla was pretty poor: dry and not very flavorful. Overall they were still worth the money. You normally expect to pay more than normal for food and drinks when snowboarding, so the tacos and drinks were reasonable. The entrees and appetizers were on the pricier side. The wait staff was very nice and helpful. Overall this is a really solid three stars but what prevented it from getting more was the quality of the tacos and price of the non-promo food. read more

We were at the restaurant from the morning when it was empty. we ordered food during lunch hour and we were eating our food, but because we were there for a long time they asked us to leave. I understand that we were there for a long time, but there were other empty tables. I don't think it's right for them to ask for the customers to leave when we still had food and beer while there were other empty tables. read more

Horrible service experience- I was seated and ordered a bowl of soup first and was planing on getting a salad later. I wanted to sit and eat here while husband was in ski lesson. When I got back from the restroom, my stuff was moved away from the table. When asked, the waiter said she moved it coz I was gone too long from my table and it was given to someone else. read more

I love this place. I went up here with a few friends and decided to dry up since it was raining. Since we were all freezing, I thought it was nice that there was a fireplace near by. The first thing we got were the nachos and it was pretty big for a reasonable price. Really good too. Since we were starving, we needed to go for seconds and drinks were also pretty cheap too. I like how some of the workers here are outgoing, livens the place up quite a bit. I guess cause we went at times when it wasn't too busy. (I mean who would go to the snow when it's raining and windy, only a few people like us and a few others, right?) Whenever we go to Mt. The 2 Stars is because it's here, and it's a lodge type eatery. The management seems to be very lacking, I've never in several years of coming to Mtn High ever been able to order my first choice, they're always out of several menu items. I'm not talking fancy stuff, I'm talking beef dip and Pastrami. There's a line out the door, which is totally understandable on a busy day, but inside there's tables that stand vacant and don't get cleaned for 20 minutes. Again I get it if everyone's busy, but there's servers and employees standing around doing nothing while the tables stay dirty. In they're defense, they're the only game in town at Mtn High so they don't really need to try hard to get your business... read more

Had a wonderful experience, Tony the busser and Robin the bartender had excellent customer service. Also food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with one of the managers that told us rudely about a 90 minute rule on taking a table. We were there waiting for a friend that had no phone and knew to meet us there and we could not leave. We said we weren't informed of the rule and that we were ordering food and drinks continuously. She rudely told us about a sign that was supposedly posted at the entrance. We were sitting in the bar area and did not realize it applied to us. We understand the issue with sitting at a table for too long and didn't realize there was a rule. The way it was handled was what was upsetting and the reason for the drop in the star. read more

I think we ate there on an off day. They had a Christmas rush on food, and we came in the day after. Nothing but dried out chicken tenders, and a sausage sandwich, which left a lot to be desired. I tried ordering meatball sandwiches, pastrami sandwiches, pasta. Not available... Friendly employees, but hopefully they stock on up food apropriately for obvious busy holidays... read more

Food's decent and the bartender is usually friendly and on top of things! They have issues with the hostess stand though - they will ONLY seat a part of 2 at a 2-top and apparently there's not many of those. They were seating parties of 3 and 4 who checked in way after us. SO if it's the lunch rush, put your name on the list and go for one more run :-) read more
