My wife and I went to the Yodeler last weekend in Wrightwood CA, and it was great as ever. I have been here since the late 1970s and throughout the years have seen different menu changes, but the building has stayed relatively the same. My children like this place, my wife likes this place and obviously lots of other people do. My wife and I shared the poutine, and we had some chicken wings as an appetizer. She likes Guinness draft there and I had Sour Monkey Triple draft. The poutine was good and it was the first time my wife had tried it--she loved it. I thought there could have been a little bit more of the cheese curd, it was fried, but I know every place makes theirs a little different. The atmosphere is great; it reminds you of a cabin on the inside and of course you're in Wrightwood CA so it's a perfect mountain hangout. The tables are clean, the area swept up and a very inviting indoor environment as outdoor environment. This is a rustic environment, so don't expect four-star accommodation. Again, as I said, it is perfect for this area, and I would expect nothing less. The service was great, we had two or three different servers, and they were always polite, knew their menu well, and offered upgrades. Had a great conversation with this server and he had been coming up there for years himself before working there. His daughter and wife were outside, and he would periodically chat with them which made us feel like it was a great family environment. The menu is varied and they have some excellent hamburgers; I have had the patty melt in the past. There is something about being 5000 feet above sea level, having a cold drink, and hot food; it's amazing. Wrightwood; Older local diner hang out with TVs, plenty of beer choices, full bar & outdoor patio. Service not immediate, but efficient enough once I was seated. Decent menu for a small place. Out of the "housed roasted corned beef" Reuben sandwich so I settled on a patty melt which might have been a better decision anyway. Very pleased to have a patty melt cooked perfectly medium. Keep the cook. Tender & juicy beef patty on fresh marbled rye toasted just right. A worthy 4.5 stars for this. My photo was not worthy so no photo. My opinion as a non-local, just been there twice: It's time for a bathroom makeover. Past due. Could use Molly Maid & Mr. Clean. My friends and I spent the weekend in Wrightwood and chose The Yodeler for our first dinner in town. While a lot of the bar food on the menu sounded good, I decided to go with the tri tip hot beef dip with a side of waffle fries. The sandwich was a bit plain and could have used some garlic aioli or cheese to add some oomph but at least the meat wasn't fatty. Really fun place to be. Multiple flat screens so you could watch a variety of sports. The Mountain Burger and the hangover burger were just outstanding! Great spot to catch a game. Best wings in the region. The pizzas are insanely delicious. A cozy spot full of friendly faces. The white sauce is fresh made, not a jar. Stopped in here a couple of times recently for late lunches. Had a cheeseburger first visit, grilled ham & cheese the second, both very good. Staff is friendly and quick, and jukebox was stocked with eclectic jams. Just got off the hill snowboarding and teenage boys couldn't wait to eat. So we stopped here, I always prefer to eat local spots to support the small guys over any chain. Was nice sitting on the deck enjoying the warm weather. Boys had burgers and steak fries(not their favorite, but that's a personal choice, not a complaint). I can't stress enough how amazing the wings are! All the food here is great, but ever since I first tried the wings, I have to make sure I get some every time I'm in town. So we went for a drive and ended up here in Wrightwood. Went up and had a beer at the brewery and then came down to finish up with an Irish Coffee. It was pretty packed because it was St Patrick's Day but we were able to go to the bar and order our drinks. Didn't have a meal but didn't see a lot of people eating and the Corned Beef and Cabbage prices were like way out of touch but I would like to come back and have a burger or sandwich on a non-holiday visit. The service was pretty good considering how packed they were at one point. But the place is cute even though it is small. My husband ordered two cheeseburgers for us to go... one with American cheese the other with swiss. He asked for 2 side salads. We got ice cold cheeseless bugers each with two wilted iceberg lettuce leaves on the side. He had to wait 45 minutes because they were busy only to get tasteless cold burgers with wilted lettuce. Wasn't worth the wait. The funny thing is they called the two wilted lettuce leaves a salad. Also don't they have heat lamps to keep the food warm? Invest in one if not! read more

Came here with my family to enjoy the mountain air and have a simple family dinner since there aren't many places open in the area. There was very limited seating so we went outside which was fine but we kept getting told different things about the seating as space became available but then the band was going to play in that area. The food itself was pretty mediocre for the price, and the fries had that grainy freezer taste, they definitely were not fresh. There were some difficulties communicating the order properly and they fixed it without charge but it took a lot of explaining and working with the servers to get it right. If you are visiting wrightwood and are hungry for lunch and decide on the Yodeler you might want to choose something better. First and foremost the place needs a deep cleaning. Let's start with the restroom, broken toilet, dirty dingy bathroom, and when you turn on the sink to wash your hands be prepared for a shower. Menus were filthy, and when you sit facing the vent by the tv in front there is tons of dust that hasn't been cleaned in years. It's actually a disgusting atmosphere and makes you not want to eat here. We ordered burgers and they came with steak fries. Burger was OK. Nothing amazing, it was eatable. Came by on a Saturday night and left a little disappointed. Tried the apricot wheat beer, didn't love it. They don't have claws but the server was really nice and suggested a flavored vodka soda, that hit the spot. Unfortunately that was kind of the peak of service. They were busy understandably, but we definitely got the out-of-towner treatment. We had to ask for waters twice (to which we got an eye roll from one of the guys), had to ask for refills, two other tables arrived after us and both got their food before us, and when our pizza finally showed, we had to remind them we ordered a salad. Salad got there and the 'garlic bread' was just pieces of plain French bread. Didn't make a fuss, server felt bad and said the next beer was on the house, but it wasn't. Came in for the first time tonight, don't know why we've never tried it before! Food was awesome. We got a dozen wings that came out fried crispy, just the way we like em, with a side of Franks Red Hot, BBQ sauce, and ranch, served on a tray with celery and carrots. Perfectly cooked, delicious. My hubby got a small BBQ chicken pizza that was actually pretty big, he could only eat half, and said it was one of the best he's had. I ordered the Reuben but mentioned that I really hate fatty meat and the gentleman offered to trim of any excess fat. He did exactly that, not one single bit of fat on that sandwich. Could have used a little more kraft and the cheese was not fully melted but this was not significant, the sandwich was delicious. The huge amount of steak fries that came with it had their special blend of parmesan cheese and seasonings and came out piping hot! Food was a little pricey but portions and quality matched up so it was ok.we were here on a slow weeknight so the service was good, hopefully it's still good when they're busy. The bathrooms were very small and could use a little updating to bring them up to standard. I have never in my life walked out if a restaurant before the order came... but I did at The Yodeler ( my husband stayed to get the order and take it out.) The restaurant was not crowded and most of the patrons were only drinking, but our order of a small pizza took a painfully long time, and I do mean painful. We were sitting outside and waited so long it got cold so we moved inside. The inside was not crowded but extremely loud. We asked if the order was coming soon and were told we were next. But we still waited and waited. Between the cold and noise I couldn't stand it and left. My husband stayed to get the pizza and bring it back to the hotel to eat in the room. Pretty miserable. It takes a long time to actually be acknowledged when you walk in. Very expensive for what you get being under staffed Prices start 15- per meal. Seriously they need to hire someone better server We walked in they didn't even wiped the tables, it's Thursday the place is empty. The server is lost with three table. We came to Wrightwood to see the snow and ended up eating at The Yodeler. The staff was nice and attentive. They came by multiple times to refill our drinks. It looks like a bar but it's actually kid friendly as my daughter ate with us. I got a garden salad and it came with really delicious garlic bread. It was so soft but crunchy on the edges. We went here a year ago and the first visit was the best. Each time after that it was a little less impressive. Today we came in and were greater nicely and to sit anywhere there was a seat. The window seat was open and I was happy it was available. It took a bit to have our order taken we order a Ruben and a Philly steak sandwich. Along with our order we had to of their specialty drinks, they were okay, felt they were weak in the alcohol dept. When our order came out I noticed we both had Philly Steak sandwiches.
