Let me demonstrate this with our experience. For our bathroom remodel in Napa, we looked at many North Bay tile and stone providers. Most were decorator showrooms displaying products but not providing fabrication or installation. They could provide a list of installers but typically could not recommend one because of potential liability issues. Uh-oh. Have you had problems with a remodel? The schedule kept getting pushed back? The crew didn't show up? Materials providers and installers denied responsibility and blamed each other, leaving the homeowner in the middle and the problem unresolved? Our neighbors had these horrors with an expensive remodel project for two bathrooms, and we didn't want to expose ourselves to such a situation. We opted for one-stop shopping. The highly skilled professionals at Grima provided excellent products and superb service. In our initial meeting with Vince, we were provided accurate and clear information and recommendations on the products and on the fabrication and installation options best suited to our needs. We chose Cambria Stone for the shower and countertop and Italian tiles for the floor and shower base. Co-owner Heather offered further details and timelines, and we received a comprehensive and accurate quotation very promptly. Heather and Vince guided the project effectively and efficiently from conception to completion. The techs and crews showed up on schedule and on time. All staff were courteous, professional, and highly capable in their specializations. Grima has a lot of talent on the staff. We were pleased with the timeliness of the project; things moved even more rapidly and smoothly than we expected. This was not a simple project, as the shower has a window in the middle, requiring precise framing; we added a niche for soap and shampoo, also requiring precision fabrication. We also requested a windowsill for another window in the bathroom, to tie in the stone from the shower with the rest of the room. Grima's techs were efficient and accurate in measuring our shower and countertop areas, using laser and computer technology to develop a precise data file of the installation. The file went to the programmer, who created a template for Grima's onsite computer-controlled fabrication equipment. While other fabricators we auditioned worked with essentially manual or industrially dated methods, Grima's computer-cut slabs and pieces fit precisely into the spaces prepared for them, without gaps or errors. Vince and Heather's substantial investment in their fabrication gear, and in their staff, clearly paid off, for both their business and the consumer. Throughout the project, every staffer we worked with was clearly experienced and talented. They knew the products thoroughly, had installed many types and configurations of tile and stone, and were aware of possible pitfalls and how to avoid them. There's no substitute for this kind of quality, the kind you don't get from a big box store, from a decorator showroom whose responsibility ends at the sale, or from an installer unfamiliar with the specific materials and project requirements at your home. I found myself doing a bathroom remodel in December, 2021, hoping to get a quartz slab installation going just after New Year's. When I started contacting tile installers in early December, they either didn't return my call or I'm sure I could hear them laughing at me on the other end of the line. Ben at Grima answered my call and then calmly spent a half hour with me discussing possibilities and timelines. From beginning to end of my project, Ben responded promptly and with the wisdom of experience to my various questions, even when he was on vacation. Grima's estimate came in at or below their competitors and they didn't brush me off because it was the holiday season. I went with them. Then the process began. At every step, reliable, competent people arrived at my home in the woods on time to do their specific job. The guy who waterproofed and tested my shower. The one who created a template. The ones who installed the quartz walls of my new shower. The ones who installed the shower floor. They were all hard-working and respectful of my home and property. I used Grima to install my quartz countertop, glass tile backsplash and tile floor. I asked for bids from a half dozen different tile and stone places. One place would only do the countertop was significantly more in cost. Grima was less and would do everything I needed. They were also responsive when I contacted them. I selected my countertop and backsplash from Ceramic Tile Center in Santa Rosa. Grima and Ceramic Tile Center work together so I didn't have to make phone calls to do "introductions" and get things together. (Ceramic Tile Center recommended Grima.) The counter was templated by Kelvin - a guy with 30+ years of experience. It was "tricky" in my judgement because I have this 36" farmhouse sink - but Kelvin set it all up using strips of wood and hot glue. When the counter arrived to be installed, everything fit well and I later had fun trying to find the seams. It was very difficult! They also did an excellent job of setting the sink. They did it all in a day. The next work was the backsplash - then the floor. Grima got to work right away once the materials came in. Unfortunately, the estimated amount of tile ordered was short, so they had to come back. Then, that estimate was short!! So they had to come back again. Each time the estimate was short there was another week of waiting because they had to order the tile. Sofie wasn't happy about this, but I laughed. I've done my own construction projects and come up short of materials. Any fool can order too much - but ordering "just right" is not so easy. They were trying to save me money - and they did! I didn't care how long it took - these guys are good and I don't want anyone else doing the work. Now it's all done and it looks terrific! The guys were so careful to keep things neat and clean - and they were smart enough to double check about the grout colors and the details of the layout before they got too far along. I appreciate how skillful they cut the tiles around the crown molding. One would think the crown molding was applied on top of the tile - but not so! I told Bernardo what a great job he did on the molding and he smiled and waved his hand saying, "I just mark with the pencil and cut the tile. It's nothing!" I know different - I've tried it before and it looked like someone was trying to cut a tile to fit tight with the crown molding and didn't know what he was doing. read more

Was trying to find someone in Santa Rosa or area to do some granite work on my master bathroom. I went through three different tile companies, all seemed indifferent to do business. I contacted Grima via the internet. In one hour I had a response and in one day I had a quote. I picked out my granite slab at MSI in Hayward. They arranged pickup and deliver and the price could not be beat compared to local prices. I was told about 10-15 business days, but they were ready to install in 5 days. They undercut all the other bids by $1500. Installation went smooth. The finish work was great. I got fine mitered edges on the vanity countertop; they did a great job on the undermount basins. My Roman tub came out spectacular. All the seams and the stone patterns matched up. They came back a second day to seal the granite and do some clean up with the caulking work that needed to be done. They were on time, were very accommodating and pleasant to work with. read more

The posted 4 and 5 star reviews are from friends and family....we are neither. Vince is a nice guy, but the quality and follow through on his projects is not at 100% satisfaction. Due to the company's small size, they become easily overbooked and your small project will suffer...as it encounters delays. I would not recommend this company for your small home projects.
