Let me start by saying that I agree with all these other reviews, Bryan is a master at what he does. Bryan completed the tiling for a bathroom remodel this past summer at my home in Petaluma which involved floor tile, shower tile, and a tub surround. He is meticulous, thoughtful, does amazing work and our bathroom looks absolutely beautiful. Along the way, he checked in regarding big and small details, which I really appreciated. He was also kind and thoughtful of our home environment and did a good job communicating along the way. We parted on good terms and I even noted that I wanted to have Bryan back to do future work, specifically a backsplash job in our kitchen.
About 2 weeks after Bryan completed his work, I had our main contractor move our his/her sink vanity over about 6 inches due to a spacing issue, whereupon I noticed that the floor tile under the sink was never grouted!
I reached out to Bryan to ask him to come back to grout the floor tile that was neglected. Thinking this was going to be a simple scheduling issue, I was completely thrown off at Bryan's tone and overall rudeness in this interaction. He began by claiming that it wasn't necessary to have it grouted, though as I pointed out if there were a spill I would prefer it didn't immediately seep into the tile crack. He then claimed that if that were to happen he already waterproofed the underlay, which he claimed he never charged me for (though this is on the work estimate and final invoice/ contract he provided).
I noted that the language of our work agreement was to grout the tile floor, not just a portion of it. Stating that "time is money" he then said that he would have to charge me to return to grout that section of the floor!
When I pushed back and mentioned that I already paid him for this work, we went back and forth a bit more until I asked him how much it would cost to have him return to do the work. After I asked him, he abruptly stated that he would just come and do it and then basically hung up the phone on me. He came the next day, quickly mixed the grout in the driveway, then was in and out of the house in less than 4 minutes to grout a section of floor that is 2x6 feet. (I have ring footage to reinforce this). From what I know about grouting this seems rushed and not the meticulous and well done work I knew Bryan was capable of.
This whole situation really threw me and now whenever I go in to our beautiful new bathroom, I am reminded of this negative interaction and continue to worry about the quality of the work underneath my sink.
Sucks too cause everything up to this last piece was five stars. Moreover, I have an issue with one of the trim tiles and I don't feel remotely comfortable reaching out to discuss this. Nor will I be inviting Bryan back to do any future work. read more
