I highly recommend Second Generation Tile and Josh and team. I'm very happy with my new backsplash. Their workmanship is excellent. Communication was great from beginning to end. Josh got back to me as soon as I left him the first voicemail. He had me send a few photos of my kitchen and the measurements, we talked through it, he quickly sent me an estimate and they started within a couple of days. The price was very fair. They are true perfectionists (like me) and discussed every little detail of the project with me before starting. They worked hard for 4 and half straight days (and over the holidays). Juan did most of the work. He's a master craftsman, a true artisan. They got the job done quickly and exactly as we discussed. The finished product is gorgeous! I'm so glad I found them (found them here on yelp). I want them for all my future tile projects! read more

Look no further, this is a reputable company with value and quality results. I contacted Josh after another guy left me hanging mid-project. I thought I could handle this on my own, but only made it worse. I contacted Josh and sent him a couple of pictures. He was very responsive and non-judge-mental. Josh and his guy came a couple days later and finished the job with some additional adjustments to improve the look of my chimney. No fuss at all. Wish I contacted him from the beginning. I didn't include a picture of how bad my project looked at first to not confuse people, but, it. was. bad! Thanks Josh and his guy for taking care of me. read more

From the estimate and scheduling to execution and clean-up, SG Tile & Stone was fantastic. Josh was communicative and prompt and Jonathan, who did the work, was professional, precise, and friendly. I hired Josh and his team for a kitchen, bedroom, and two bathroom tile project. I was very particular about my tile contractor because they needed to be well versed in the installation of NuHeat heated flooring systems. They also needed to be confident in installing large floor tiles. Josh's team nailed both of these requirements and then some. My favorite part about working with Josh was the thorough and efficient communication. In addition to a prompt email response, we communicated via text and images which is clutch for a tile project since it's such a visual trade. The heated floors and tile were expertly installed and my feedback was welcomed throughout the project. Expectations were set and then a fantastic final product was delivered. read more

We hired Josh and his crew to replace our entire ground floor with new tiles. The old tile floor was tenting badly so it all had to go. It was not a small job but not super big either. Josh's price was reasonable among other contractors we looked at. They picked up the tiles from the store for us and the project started pretty hassle free. We bought the largest plank tiles to make the floor look like hardwood. Javier was the person who worked on laying the tiles. He did a great job, especially with all the cuts he had to make to make the tiles fit into the kitchen. The project was supposed to be done in 2 weeks, but preparing the sub floor turned out to be an effort larger than expected. So the whole project finished in about 4 weeks. Javier worked onsite 5 days a week. We also had Josh's team to reinstall the baseboards. They saved the old baseboards and put them back in afterwards. Overall, we are happy with the floor. We would recommend Josh and his team for tile projects based on the quality of the work. The improvements I feel Josh could use is to be more clear on the contract proposal what is included exactly, leaving less room for interpretation. read more

I had a great experience with Josh and Second Generation Tile & Stone. I needed a job done quick and they were able to accommodate our business with a next day installation, and same day assessment. It was amazing. The job was done very well, and in the span of only a couple days. We had one hiccup with some wrong material being ordered, but the guys were kind enough to save me the trip of having to return it myself and took the material back. Great service and great guys. I highly recommend them! read more

Second Generation Tile did the tile work on 2 new bathrooms as well as a new fireplace fascia which was completed in June of 2009. I forgot to write a review but figured better late than never. The tile design in both bathroom was very technical. Josh made certain the job was done to the right and when finished, it is a work of art. I have recommended this company to family and friends. My husband and I hired Second Generation, we are so happy the team equals perfection! Our floor was a mess, we had a "friend contractor" lay tile for us. Results we pulled up the tile leaving us with the floor from hell. turn we had to pull up the tile, Lesson learned only tile experts only. As we called to get bids to resolve our bad, we got many of the experts giving us over the top estimates on fixing the floor and laying our tile or not returning our calls. Second Generation came in saved us and our floor, giving us a quote the same day as the initial visit, which was lower than all the others. Starting the job the following day. Josh and Todd and team are amazing. We now have a beautiful floor tiled to perfection. Hiring Second Generation, for a no stress, great price make over on any tile job. read more

Joshua and his associates are wonderful to work with. Prompt, professional and they do a beautiful job! Would highly recommend.

3 reasons not to hire Josh: 1. Knowing I was unhappy with the quality, Josh offered a DISCOUNT IN RETURN FOR NOT WRITING A BAD YELP REVIEW - don't trust other reviews; 2. The work was unbelievably bad: much of the the floor grout crumbled under pressure because air was left under a superficial skimming (glass bow-shaped trapezoids); the grout on the floors and on the walls (vertical taupe tile) was discolored, the curb was not sloped so water runs onto the floor. To be fair, the wall tile itself was set well. 3. Josh said to me that he needed to better supervise the project and didn't. read more

Josh and his team did a fabulous job creating a beautiful back splash for our kitchen. I called him Monday and on Wednesday, Haroldo from Second Generation Tile & Stone arrived. The back splash was installed in one day. It is BEAUTIFUL! We highly recommend them. read more

Hiring Josh at Second Generation was such a great decision. We have a large deck that needed to be re-tiled and waterproofed. The connecting stairs required ventilation which was installed in a manner where it's barely visible, but effective. Josh helped us out with choices and design which was greatly appreciated. The team that worked on our project was Joel and Jonathon, father and son. Their workmanship is perfection as is their strong work ethic. We will hire them again and highly recommend without reservation. Josh and his team are professional, communicative, considerate and talented craftsmen. We received a quality project for a fair price. read more

Barbara C. Second Generation Tile and Stone is fantastic. I wanted to tile my kitchen but other tilers just wanted to tile over the tile that was already in place. There were several reasons why I did not want to do this including that the fact that this would impair the strength of my radiant heat. Second Generation tiled the floor just as I wanted and the work was perfect. Also, they finished a day earlier than they had projected. No one could have done a better job. read more

I hired Josh at Second Generation Tile this past summer to retile my guest bathroom (tub surround and floor). I planned on using expensive marble and wanted to ensure I was working with a true professional. I can't tell you how happy I was to work with Josh and his crew, especially Raul and Francisco who were the primary workers on my job.. These people are artisans, not just tile setters, and they care about dong a beautiful job for you. Raul would ask me a lot a questions before I left for work and we would go over how the tile would lay out before he did it - I really appreciated that attention to detail. I would highly recommend Josh and Second Generation Tile for your next tile project. You won't be sorry. read more

These guys are the absolute best! I was so impressed with Josh, the owner. When I was describing what I was imagining I wanted for my home, he made sure he understood every last detail before starting any work. His level of attention to every aspect of the job put me at ease and had me feel confident that it was going to get done exactly the way I wanted it. Make sure to check out their website. It really reflects the type of work they do. http://www.sgtile.com/ read more

We had a kitchen tile backsplash installed by Second Generation, and we were very pleased with the workmanship and the entire process of working with Josh. Josh made suggestions and diplomatically talked me out of design ideas I had that in retrospect would have been a bad decision. So I am very grateful for that, and love the way the backsplash turned out. Some of the grouting shrunk after installation, which is normal, and Josh sent the workers back without any questioning to fix it. It was also really easy to communicate with Josh via email, and he was very responsive. I highly recommend Second Generation and would definitely work with them again. read more

This was a small job to tile my condo kitchen floor and the entry hall. Josh turned around an estimate quickly, did an onsite look before finalizing a contracted amount, and scheduled the job quickly. When one of his installers had an issue that took him away from the job he brought in a whole new team in order to finish on schedule. The installers were skilled and thoughtful about the tile pattern and appliance clearances. Well done and looks as good as I'd hoped. I had already chosen and purchased the tile before Josh took the job. read more

Josh and his brother, Gabe did a gorgeous job on a kitchen backsplash for us. They were very reasonable, professional, prompt, courteous. Josh was great to work with in the beginning. He came out to my place, met with my designers (I had to pay for their time), who showed him the materials that were chosen and then we agreed on a price. He did raise concerns about the tile selected for our master shower as there were no finishing pieces. He said he would take a sample and run some tests. A month goes by. I am still waiting for a contract to sign (he was having computer problems) and the results of his test. Six weeks later, no test results and a contract that did not match our verbal agreement six weeks prior. When I questioned Josh about the differences in the contract and our prior agreement, he complained that he originally bidded too low, but he would stick to the original agreement. Everytime we talked he looked for ways to add-on additional costs. Things like the shelf in the hall bath that was originally no problem became an add-on. Oh by the way, what are your results of the test. Well he never did it. At this point I had two month invested in Josh and SG Tile. I didn't want to start the bidding process over again, so we decided to help him by selecting a material that was easier to work with. Instead of him having to send out porcelain tiles to be miter cut on a water jet, all he had to do was install same sized marble tiles that could be polished on site. Josh's response to our compromise to use a material that was easier to work with was to raise the price, by 10%. It was at this point where I said no more. The price of our project increased by 20% between Josh's first price and his final one. This translated to close to $3k in up charges when we have been doing all of the compromising. I would hate to see the additional charges if we ran into problems mid-project or wanted to make a change. This is straight up bad business. It is dishonest and predatory. read more

I used Josh of Second Generation back in 2004 to install a slate porch. The result was lovely. Recently I discovered some of the tiles had come loose. He came out assessed the situation and had his workers Manuel and Todd reattach the tiles then cover the porch with a sealer that brought back the original color. The porch looks better than ever. I would have given five stars, but I had to call several times to get the job done. Nonetheless I highly recommend Second Generation Tile for their quality of workmanship. read more

We remodeled our kitchen this past summer. Second Generation Tile installed our backsplash. He was great to work with. He was extremely patient with me while I was trying to decide what I wanted. Once the work started he was always checking in to be sure he fully understood what we wanted. They showed up on time and finished the job when they said they would. The finished product looks amazing. Josh's crew was friendly, professional and left the jobsite as clean if not cleaner than it was prior. read more

I recently contracted with Second Generation to remove a rug and tile a finished basement in a rental house that I own. They started work immediately, did a fantastic job and finished promptly. They made lots of helpful suggestions along the way as well. Josh is a great communicator, and returns emails and voicemails immediately. He kept me in the loop on any necessary changes and options and was a great guy to work with overall. Highly recommended! read more

My wife and I hired Second Generation Tile to install tile floors in two bedrooms, our master bath, and our entryway foyer, including heating elements in the two bedrooms and bathroom. Josh was super helpful during the tile selection phase, figuring out the heating system and even working with us when we found a distributer with cheaper thermostats. To save on overall cost, I did most of the demolition of the existing floors and concrete membranes myself. Afterwards, Julio and his installation team came in and leveled the floors, installed the heating elements, and the tiles. During the process Josh checked in multiple times to make sure everything was going well and that our schedules were still in alignment. Afterwards Julio shaved down our doors as the level of the floors had changed. The install team were all very friendly, accommodating, and as unobtrusive as anyone could be redoing the floors of half of the house. Overall the experience was very positive and I would recommend Josh and Second Generation Tile tile very highly. read more

We selected Second Generation Tile to do our kitchen backsplash. The crew are all very professional and the result is perfect - and I'm a perfectionist. As some of the other reviews state -- the crew takes great care in preparing everything and when done, they leave the site as clean or cleaner than when they started. There was a small glitch at the start of the job but Josh was on it and made sure that we were immediately taken care of. read more

We were remodeling the bathroom and ordered one of the more difficult tiles to install, 1"x1" glass tiles on a paper backing (not the mesh). We were nervous about someone being able to install the tile properly for a whole bathroom wall because the grout lines would be very obvious. Josh at Second Generation Tile came out to quote the job and he listened to what we wanted, discussed the installation options and offered a great suggestion for how to end the tiles. He had two of his crew come out to perform the job and closely oversaw their work (the crew was also very friendly, professional and great at what they did). We love the way it all turned out and I would highly recommend Second Generation Tile. read more
