I was in De Luz way far back, almost towards SD County. Needless to say I was in the middle of no where. I lost my front right axle about 12pm on a Monday. I did not have cell service, but I was able to scan a large hill and get reception. I was able to call in for about 30 seconds, enough time to give my location and trouble. I lost connection prior to payment. Luckily I was able to receive text and the dispatcher for Grim texted me back and let me know I had lost cell service, but he was sending a driver over. I waited a total of 25 min and I heard the beautiful sound of that diesel truck in the canyon making lts way to me. The driver was professional and had a place that could fix my axle, I took his word for it and they were able to fix my car the next day. After getting an oil change done incorrectly, I was left with a car with zero oil and obviously unable to drive it. We were in Fallbrook and tried the local towing companies. Some didn't answer at all, some were closing for the holiday, and some couldn't give me a tow until the next day. Had a tire on our travel trailer blow out on the 15 North. Called around to two other tow companies in the area and was quoted 2-3 hour wait - not ideal while on a narrow shoulder of a busy highway, in 100 degree heat with a 9 month old. They responded to a call from our insurance company to tow our camper van. It turned out that our van was too tall for the truck that was sent, so they couldn't take the job, but they stayed there a while and made phone calls and tried to come up with ways to help us out. This was on a Sunday and it was after our insurance company sent them to TWO incorrect addresses... which wasn't our fault but I was expecting them to be irritated. If they were, they didn't show it. Called this morning as I was broke down on the side of the road, I was told that they had a shortage of tow truck drivers and then it might be a while about an hour, so I was prepare to wait, but to my surprise about 30 minutes later they pulled up shortly after that phone call. The driver told me that he didn't want me to have to wait until the next driver came in does he would have to go get another pick up before coming to get me so instead he hop in the truck and came and got me himself came and got me himsef. That's what I call good service, and made what was turning out to be a bad morning a little bit better. UPDATE: I don't appreciate you insinuating that I am lying or giving false information out and regardless if we got that quote or not $60 is still way too much. $60 is too much for opening a door only because it was on a dirt road and not a parking lot, especially since we called for a quote which they said 'it'll be about $20 or you may qualify to get it done free'. That is no where near what they ended up charging us. So much for being family owned and here to help the community so they don't feel 'alone in a time of need' by over charging. read more

Stranded off I15 at 7pm at night. Greg answered the phone right away, was able to determine exactly where I was stranded and jumped into his truck as I was speaking to him. I was trying to make light of my situation....told him it was a good thing he was on his way because things were about to get EXTREMELY serious. Definitely had a good helpful, honest experience with Gunner our tow truck guy. Our insurance sent us a different tow truck company before Grim towing, and you can tell that company didn't have any experience the guy told us we needed a different tow truck because our rear gears were locked and even putting it in neutral he couldn't get it to work he had a flat bed tow truck and said we needed a wheel lift dolly tow truck. So he left & we had to recall our insurance company and get a different tow truck & thats when we got Grim towing, Gunner was honest and helpful, he explained to us what was wrong with our truck what we might need to get fixed and a rough estimate of what everything would cost, from his experience before hand. Oh I forgot to mention too he had the same tow truck the other company had a flat bad and gunner did it with ease. Also recommended us to a reliable trustworthy place in town were we could get it fixed. Gunner was a lifesaver. We left Pauma late and had to go back to La Jolla at 1 am. Our insurance took a while until they found Grim Towing who were the only people to take us all the way down to our house. When Gunner got there, he told us our car had not overheated and that we had a bad thermostat but still drove us home just to be safe. He was knowledgeable about cars and was someone we could really trust to take us back home. He had so many great stories for the hour long ride and I would pay him just to listen to more!
