This southern themed restaurant had an okay atmosphere, though fox news was playing on the tv but I guess that goes with the theme. Food was all terrible. I got a croissant and a side of mashed potatos and gravy. Both were very cold. I hate a few bites of each and had enough. My friends salad had rotten peices in it and was 80% cheese. Hair was also on top of their fish. The ingredients listed did not match what the menu said as well. I was very disappointed. Just go to sonic next door. read more

Not a fan at all. This is your basic food served out of bulk product and cans. The quality in my opinion is not desirable at all. The staff is somewhat friendly and semi professional. I've given Grillos Café several chances and was disappointed every time. It use to be a Ziggies Café and was somewhat decent then, but now has really suffered in quality overall. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! This is the worst place to eat in Marshfield. I have been here twice now. The second time was only because my grandparents wanted to try it. I warned them! Both times, I got an overpowering stench of urine when I walked in the front door. The food is tolerable at best. The staff is super unfriendly--well, to us anyway. Service A family of 3 and our drinks were brought out 1 at a time. They then served my wife's salad before the brought out our appetizers. Then my wife and son received their meals 5 minutes before my meal was ready, but the check was already on the table. I guess so I didn't forget to pay for the food I hadn't yet received. Food My Chicken Parmasian Paninni had no flavor at all, the fries were undercooked and mooshy. My wife's KC Strip was so thin you could read a news paper through it. My son did enjoy his breakfast skillet though. Overall: I won't be eating there again. read more

I'm fairly certain everything that comes to your table in this place is pre-bought in a can. We have tried to eat here twice and each time was a disaster. The staff doesn't engage customers and good luck if you want your glass refilled. We tried breakfast for both visits, eggs cold and the gravy was hardly edible. When it was time to leave it took us an extra 10 minutes to get our waitress to bring us our check. Overall unimpressed and won't be going back any time soon. read more

Stopped on the way north out of Springfield while heading toward McD's as a last resort. Glad we spotted this place. Nothing pretentious but clean, pleasant service, LOTS of very good breakfast food and low prices. We had 2 coffees a big breakfast with eggs, bacon+ ham + sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy; a 3 egg omelet with hash browns and pancakes. I left 2/3 of my breakfast and my husband left half of his because we were full. All this for less than $15.00. What more could you want? read more

Stopped here for lunch in June 2021 while doing some business in Marshfield. The atmosphere is very outdated but it is clean. The dessert case had some attractive cakes and pies but we did not order dessert. The hostess was friendly and we were seated promptly. The menu is large and my friend and I weighed our options among a few items. Our server, Myrna, was excellent and answered our questions about the dishes we were considering. We both ordered fried chicken once learning it was breaded and fried to order. I chose mashed potatoes with white gravy and broccoli as my sides and enjoyed both. The chicken was very good; fresh, crispy, juicy, and cooked all the way through. The portions were good and everything was a very good value. We plan to return to Grillo's in the future and will drive the 25 miles knowing the food and service is worth it. If you are in or near Marshfield, bring your appetite to Grillo's and try to leave room for dessert (report back here and let us know if it's as good as it looks behind glass ). read more

Ugh! I have not experienced such backwards food and service. The food was lacking and the service was even worse! I ordered the shrimp dinner, my side was sliced tomatoes. When they say sliced tomatoes they really mean it. I received two slices of tomatoes. The waitress came to fill up our ice tea. Did she bother to move the glass away from the plates? No, she picked them and poured them right over my plate. So, guess what I got? A plate of ice tea shrimp. Did she care? Nope. Avoid at all cost. read more

YUCK! The fried chicken is excellent and the waitress was good at her job. The positive comments stop there though. Sunday afternoon special advertised All You Can Eat rubs, fried chicken, catfish and cod. I love cod, ordered it after specifically asking if the cod was really swai. I was assured it would be real COD. When it came it was SWAI. Swai is a nasty fish from China that is raised in poop (really) and given mega doses of antibiotics to prevent infection. When asked about it the waitress said the manager was not there. She checked with the cook who admitted it was "a Chinese catfish not cod. My husband ordered the catfish. His was also swai, but with corneal breading. False a advertising. Serving nasty, cheap bottom feeding fish to customers, that's LYING and CHEATING. I certainly won't go back!!! read more

Decent prices on most things. The daily lunch and dinner specials are a good bargain and change often. The restaurant looks a bit like a 70's diner, but it is cute. Staff are friendly, but a bit slow-- maybe understaffed. read more

We were there over the weekend for a birthday party. Food was pretty good and the waitress was busting her rump to make sure we were taken care of. But that's where it stops and goes downhill. The waitress lost our credit card and while waiting for her to find it, we watched another server make salads with her bare hands. YUCK!! Glad I didn't get a salad!! She then touched a plate in the window and then went back to making the salads, sticking her bare hands in what appeared to be a lettuce bin and shredded cheese bin! read more

I was in town on business. I ordered the chef salad. It was very good with crisp lettuce and a sufficient size. I also had coffee and apple pie, also very good. The only complaint I had was that the menu didn't list any salads, I had to ask for it. read more

We love Grillo's! They hand bread every piece of catfish, cod and chicken. We special order because of gluten allergy, and they come out just right EVERY TIME! They have an extensive menu from surf and turf, to burgers and fries, to Mexican, to soups and salads. The breakfast menu is also extensive and served to order all day. The owners are a husband / wife team who are there at least 6 days a week, which makes a huge difference in how it is run! read more

The best of heart failure and diabetes with down home charm. The service here is actually very good. The waitstaff, one of the better features of this cafe, was kind, charming and attentive. But if it's healthy food you want, then Grillos is not for you. After hemming and hawing over the menu, I reluctantly decided on the fish. It was surprisingly good and had a wonderful batter. First time here and I came in to have breakfast for lunch. I was seated to a dirty table but the server took care of that quickly. I ordered the waffle platter, it came very fast but the bacon was burnt the waffle was room temp and had little flavor ..... but hey the hashbrowns were good. The other thing that stood out to me is the server called me "princess" I am 6'4" 265 not quite princess material! My husband and I went to Grillos for the first time in Oct. 2016 and we were more then satisfied. The service in the beginning was not very impressive but later found out that a server had called in and the bus boy was the host and the owners were working on the floor taking orders and serving. The menu offers a good variety,the prices are affordable and the food is yummy. My husband had the all you can eat ribs. The meat was so tender and if he could have eaten more he would have. I had the chicken fried steak. They brought it out with a steak knife but it was so tender I cut it with my fork. We both agreed the food was good and we would be back soon. I plan to try everything (eventually) on the menu. So if you like good food at reasonable rates go to Grillos. read more

A nice little cafe-dinner. I enjoyed my pork tenderloin very much, as it was not a frozen meat patty, but hand-breaded and much like my mom's country fried steak. Generous portions and the desserts were tempting. read more
