Good food, good waitstaff. Very pleasant hostess. A little more expensive than similar places, but the servings were quite generous. Clean looking, pleasant atmosphere, not terribly noisy. This should have been a four star review but.. A lot of flies. Not one, not two, but a lot. They plagued us during our short wait and buzzed our table throughout our meal. I really don't understand why management would allow that. If I ran the place, there would be search and destroy missions before opening and after closing. Flies are not what I want with my dinner and it makes me wonder how many are in the kitchen. We won't go back because of that. Too bad, as that is so unnecessary. read more

My family recently moved to Halifax and the location of Grille 58 is super convenient and I was excited to try it after reading a lot of the reviews. We have tried Grille 58 twice now and both times were disappointing. The first time we went, we dined in. I had the Reuben sandwich, which was good but not great. My husband ordered the Steak tips. They were marinated in something that resembled a teriyaki sauce and definitely not a "dressing" as the menu described. They were just ok and definitely not something I'd be jumping to get again. The second time, I ordered take-out. We both ordered buffalo tenders and we were not impressed. After eating them, we realized they are described as "sweet buffalo" which are comparable to the gold fever wings at the 99 and are VERY different than buffalo. We also ordered a pizza for our kids which was very bland and less appetizing than a frozen pizza. All in all, it's just "Ok". It's not like the food is inedible, I just don't get how there are so many 4 & 5 star reviews because the food just isn't that good...and it's ALWAYS busy. Came here for the first time... and my only regret was not coming sooner! Appetizers. .. loaded tater tots... very good amd big enough to share with the whole table. Cheesy garlic bread had enough cheese that it was actually creamy and the marinara was very tasty! Foe entrees we had triple decker Reuben and chicken supreme. Both were great... I would even go as far as to say it was the best chicken supreme I have ever had. Wait staff were super friendly and even the other patrons were sociable. We almost felt like we were at Cheers. THIEVES!! Check your prices if you're ordering takeout! Ordered Chicken Supreme $12.95 (fried chicken breast W/ supreme sauce) I asked for gravy on the side and A LITTLE more cranberry sauce. They charged me $18.95!! When I questioned the price they said, that's the price!! I told them their website states $12.95 and they said that's wrong,, they told me, " I must' be using an old browser!! how can I be using an old browser if I went to THEIR website? Rude girl at counter said it was $18.95 and told me the manager confirmed the price! BS, I've dealt with these managers before, they are rude and should be fired! Not to mention they charged me $1.90 for approximately one ounce of cranberry sauce! They added fried calamari on their menu. Yay! It was really good. Coated in a light batter, sprinkle with chopped parsley and parmesan cheese on top. Don't really like the cheese on my calamari but once you look beyond the cheese: Calamari was cooked perfectly, batter nice and light, not a single trace of grease on those calamari at all. I'll have to ask them to hold the cheese next time. Other than that, calamari fans should definitely get this. PERFECT! read more

Have been here on multiple occasions. Place is getting pretty popular - they've already expanded once since it opened (a few years ago?). Service is always at least decent - sometimes REALLY good, sometimes just "good". The grilled pizza is delicious - the veggie one and the shrimp scampi are particular favorites. They usually have pretty tasty-sounding drink specials - hit or miss; my friend just had their pumpkin pie martini and loved it, however my honeycrisp apple sangria tasted like watered-down wine. (But Shipyard Pumpkinhead in a frosty, cinnamon-sugar-rimmed glass - always delicious.) A couple things to note: They do not take AMEX. And they will NOT sit you unless your full party is there. We've eaten at Lyonville around the corner (their 2nd location) so decided to try Grill 58 tonight. It did not disappoint! I had the Lemon Garlic Shrimp appetizer...8 or 9 extra large shrimp perfectly prepared lightly breaded with lemon and garlic on a bed of angel hair pasta with a glass of Toasted Head Chardonnay. Someone in my fam had seen it featured on the Chanel 7 news and I tried that dish featured, apricot chicken is amazing. I drove by this restaurant a few times and thought how nice a new place in the neighborhood. After reading other reviews I thought i would give it a try tonight. I ordered the buffalo boneless chicken as an appetizer. The sauce was medium in heat and had an unexpected mild sweet flavor. It was different but good. Onto the pizza. I ordered two pizzas, plain cheese which according to the menu had some cheddar in it - sounded good on the menu. I also ordered the "Italian" with sausage, caramelized onions and red peppers. The pizza not so good. The crust was very thin and didn't hold up to the toppings - it was soggy in the middle and extremely crispy on the edge. Oh and what's with all the dried oregano. Its like someone dumped half a jar on both pizzas. Maybe this was a mistake - if not it should be - kill the oregano! I wouldn't rush back for the pizza but I will try them again for a sandwich or other item on the menu. Need to work on the crust guys but good luck - place was busy when I picked up my to go order so the must be doing something right. read more

The food was fresh and fast. The estimated wait time was spot on. I was told 20 minutes and we were taken to our booth right after the alarm on my phone went off. I really like Grille 58. I've been here three times now (and I got take-out one weekday I was off work and hanging out with my cousin) and I have been happy each time. Some of their food is a little pricey for what is, but other than that, it's a welcome addition to the area. Before Grille 58, your choices in that immediate area were All Seasons or Hawaii Garden. I've had their fish sandwish, a fried seafood platter, and a cheeseburger here, and everything I've had has been good. I have no complaints. They don't have much of a beer selection on tap, but they have Sam Adams so I can't complain. It's a cozy place, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night there might be a little wait, but I've always been able to find a seat at the bar. read more

First time here last night and had a bad experience. Ordered the seafood medley and all was fine but ONE scallop was definately bad. I understand it happens. When brought to the manager (if that's who she was) attention she told us that was impossible that she tasted them herself and they were fine. She continued to ARGUE with me and and didn't even apologize. My food was taken away half eaten and she would not adjust the bill. Poor management. I went here for dinner Friday night and was not impressed. I went because of the previous good reviews. In total we were a party of 8 and too big for the restaurant. I wish I could have made reservations because you can never be sure about how fast you can get seating with a big group on Friday nights. They also did not pick up the phone when I called. I tried then # above and another one I found. They did not pick up for the # above and the other one I found was out of service. We got a table almost immediately but because we were such a large group we were kind of in the way of the waitstaff, which was annoying. Our waitress was helpful with the ordering process and getting the food to the appropriate people at the table but after that she almost deserted us. She also brought my uncle a light beer instead of the regular one he asked for. The food took a little too long to come out and I was not impressed by the menu. The food was good but nothing to write home about. The exception to that is the rack of ribs, which appears as baby back ribs on the menu (I think). The rack of ribs was amazing, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Pizza is the other thing to order. They had a lot of selections for sandwiches but no one in our group ordered any. It is also overpriced. The atmosphere is not great either. It was claustrophobic, crowded, and loud. read more

' Have gone here 3 times in the last month and then 'went last Monday night for "Italian Mondays" where you get soup or a salad, an Italian entree and dessert all for $9.99. In the previous times I've gone (Sunday breakfast...Saturday lunch...and Wednesday dinner) I've been nothing but impressed. A pretty place, kept up well, with a very pleasant staff. Though I was born and raised in MA, I've been living in Indiana for the last 18 years where seafood is well, terrible. It is always great to go back to MA and enjoy some delicious seafood dishes. Grille 58 was so good I visited it twice during my visit and wish I had more time in MA to go back a couple more times. I ordered the baked stuffed haddock my first visit and it was cooked to perfection. The homemade seafood stuffing was fantastic and the portions were generous. My second visit I ordered the seafood casarol. It came with various types of seafood; sea scallops, haddock, crab, and I think lobster, all covered in thier homemade seafood stuffing. Again, it was delicious. I shouldn't have ate it all as it was a healthy portion but it was too good to stop eating. My mom got the whole clam subroll and honestly, the roll looked lost under all them clams! I tasted one of the deep fried clams and it was very tasty. Another person in our party got the lobster roll and it was packed with big chunks of lobster. I was told it was very good. Also, the service was friendly and very helpful. When I come back to MA I will definitely be heading over to Grille 58 again. read more

My husband and I went to Grill 58 on a recent Saturday evening. We requested a table; the wait was long due to that request. We both ordered seafood. Except for having to choose between "a pickle OR coleslaw?" (!!!), the entrees were both delicious. We will return. However, we will request a different server. Our waitress was unpleasant. I love this place! I often stop here when riding my motorcycle around the South Shore. I am always seated promply, and treated well. Their clam chowder is excellent, and my favorite is the Caribbean Salad, complete with mango, pistachios, and cranberries for a local touch. I highly recommend the Grille 58! read more

We chose here for my birthday! Beyond pleased with everything. From the wait (which they said was 30mins and ended up being 15) to the service , cleanliness, food, EVERYTHING. The rib eye steak was cooked exactly how the waitress explained it would be, garlic mashed was BOMB and the butternut squash was fresh. Would highly recommend Griller 58 to everyone. We had a great experience here on Saturday afternoon. We were looking for a reasonable family restaurant close to Plymouth and I think we have found it. When we arrived we were happy with the atmosphere. We were quickly seated at a comfortable table. The server was very friendly with a warm personality. I ordered the jack Daniels chicken tips and they were great. I had a Cesar salad with them. I asked for dressing on the side and it came with dressing on it. The server quickly fixed it and made a joke about it as well. We will be coming back again to try other items on the menu. read more

running a Gift card Scam. My son bought his dad a gift card for fathers day and we took the family here last night for dinner. They told us that the gift card was already used. We had never been to this restaurant before this. Don't they keep gift cards when they are used? Very disappointed they would not honor it. Management did not help us at all. Wouldn't you think they would give us the benefit of doubt???? We had out 3 young grandchildren with us. This is a townie restaurant with food that is really up a level. Get the buffalo chicken fingers - the sauce is spicy but sweet at the same time. For entrees we got the chicken cacciatore and mango salad with shrimp. Shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly and the cacciatore was a huge portion, enough for two meals. Food service was a bit slow- this place was packed on a Wednesday night at 630 but the bar tender was awesome. Never slowed down and she was very attentive. Definitely worth the stop. read more

I will not be returning to this place. When they first opened, they were decent enough. Nothing special, but ok. This meant we would go there from time to time, but not often. Fast forward to a couple of years ago. I ordered a fish dish from the menu (perhaps the most expensive one) and when it came, it bore very little resemblance to the menu description. Even the method of cooking was not as described. We had waited so long for our food that I decided to eat it anyway and not complain. It was mediocre at best, and I did not have particularly high expectations. A few weeks ago, we decided to go there for a very late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe around 4PM. We were doing errands separately, so had two cars and would arrive independently. When I arrived, my friend had already been there for 10-15 minutes. There were people at the bar, and two tables (out of 10?12?) were occupied. I looked around in confusion, expecting her to be at a table. Instead, she was at the bar. I asked her why she was at the bar. The staff had refused to seat her at a table until I got there. Even with 10 empty tables. To make matters worse, there were NO open seats at the bar when she was told this. She had to stand and wait for someone to leave. No sooner had she told me this than a hostess(?) came over with menus and wanted to seat us at a table. I asked her "why did you not seat her at a table?" which seemed to surprise and almost irritate the hostess. The hostess started off with "it is our policy to seat people only when the whole party is there" (or similar words) I responded by asking "even with all of these empty tables?" to which she responded something about "we've been here for nine years and blah blah blah" in a defensive tone, at which point I had had enough of their nonsense, and told her "we will not be eating here" and we left. So, mediocre food and policies that an irritable staff enforces regardless of the situation. Note: If a place is hopping and tables are turning over every x minutes, then it would be unfair to stick a waitperson with a single person table, but when it is dead, these things should be relaxed. The hostess was quite rude when we asked for separate checks. Her response was we do not do that anymore. My mom is handicapped and we asked if they could open the back door so she could have less to walk she again said no. My mom was with 8 people all over the age of 75 and was very rude to all.
