Visited here over the weekend during a scorcher of a day and needed lots of liquids and good food. We were mmediately greeted by Erin the hostess and she was friendly and asked where we wanted to be seated. We were seated quickly in a nice sunny location with views of the water. Our server offered the specials and we went with the prime rib and baked haddock. Both were amazing and cooked perfectly with sides of potatoes. The mixed drinks were really good, cold and hit the spot. The place was really busy but the staff was all very friendly and food came out quick. We will be back! read more

Very good restaurant. Very varied menu, excellent service and comfortable for diners.

My fried chicken and special sauce (gravy) was really good. Waitress was super busy but very attentive and friendly. Everyone liked their food, it's just that I'm 46 and seemed like a baby in there. Heavens gate lol. In the end, I'd go again for sure. read more

Great service and amazing food. From the minute we walked in and then when we left we were very satisfied. Staff is very personable and welcoming. Will definitely go back. read more

The service here is hit or miss. I have been three times, one experience not long after they opened was awful - having to literally wave down a waitress to take our orders, get refills, and even to pay. The next experience (2018) food and service were average. Tried one more time a few weeks ago with a party of 9 at the request of the birthday girl we were celebrating. Inconvenient that they take no reservations but the quoted wait time of 30-40 min was very reasonable for a 6pm Saturday. Our server was Christina, the owners' daughter, and she was incredible start to finish. They do not have a designated gluten free menu but she offered some suggestions that the kitchen could easily put together for the celiac diner in our oarty. The food and drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. If they can create a consistency in service, they will be a 5 star review next time. read more

WHAT THEY DO REALLY RIGHT... I'm a "comfort foodie" and possibly the world's pickiest eater, and I love Grille 58 because the food is good and they have a few menu options that aren't overly fussy or spooky which folks like me are so happy/relieved to find; of course there's also more creative "adult" fare, so there's something on the menu to please everybody. The chicken supreme is yumm, and they don't put onions or anything else in their rice pilaf which puts them on my restaurant A-list! HOW TO GET THAT 5TH STAR... I wish they'd offer bread and butter to the lunch crowd since bread is great ANY time of day! :-) Also, the tired, worn-flat seat cushions in the booths could stand to be refreshed; my husband and I are tall and we sit uncomfortably low in relation to the table top. THE UGLY... At our last visit the food was great but our waitress got my mother's order wrong and didn't apologize for the error or offer to bring her what she ordered. In fact, she wouldn't speak to my mother directly, she only spoke to my daughter and I and said, "Look, she's smiling; she must be happy with it." She wasn't smiling, Mum just isn't one to make a fuss and would rather eat something she didn't want than hold us up while the kitchen made up a new meal, so she made the best of it. As we were finishing our meal, the waitress again ignored my mother and said in a golly-gee voice, "She did a *good job* on her lunch!" as if she were a child, not a vital, intelligent adult deserving of some eye contact and direct communication. Oh my gosh, as I'm writing this I'm disgusted anew with that server's behavior and wish I had asked to speak with the manager or owner at the time. Anyhoo, my daughter, who was treating us to lunch that day, was so put off by this patronizing and unapologetic waitress---who didn't even discount the incorrect meal, btw---that she left a modest tip, which is a big deal for a former server to do. Hopefully the message was received. read more

Food is great.. had a bad 'service' experience but heard from the owner and appreciate the follow up.

Went to Grill 58 Halifax last week for fish & chips and chowder. I agree. Should be called just "chips." Very small portion of fish. Chowder was terrible. One clam, one fish, both 100% out of a can. The fact they were on a wait when we departed confirmed the fact that we live in a culinary desert. Disappointing, won't be back. read more

Our favorite place for seafood while visiting MA. We have never had any bad food here. Chowder is amazing as well as the fried seafood. The chicken supreme is another favorite. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Grille 58 is so good! The pizza, oh it melts in my mouth! If you buy from here I promise your tastebuds could change! Everything on the menu is super good and the best thing I've ever taste. Have a good day, and thank you for reading this! read more

Food and service was excellent as always! Everything was cooked well, be back very soon!

First timers last night at Grille 58 for dinner, based on a friend's recommendation. I didn't mind our table at all except for the fact that two flies hovered while we were having our dinner. Hindsight we probably should have asked to be moved. We did have to ask for silverware after our dinners were served. Meals ordered were baked Haddock and the Grilled Rib Eye. Haddock meal was perfect, however the Rib Eye was ordered at medium, delivered raw, not even medium rare, but raw. Took a bit to flag down server, ratatouille and baked potato now 1/2 eaten. Replacement came out at medium rare, ate it without my sides(already eaten by time rib eye came). Companion had pretty much finished his meal. I know this cut has fat, and needs some, but this one was too much fat. I understand it's not the servers fault, but no apologies, and no checking on the replacement. read more

The food is very good and I have always had excellent service. It isn't cheap, but the prices are in line with other good restaurants in the area. Whenever my family goes out for a birthday or special occasion, we almost always choose Grille 58. read more

The wait wasn't too bad we were sat after about a 25-30 minute wait. We were greeted promptly and served our drinks quickly as well. The waitress was overly bubbly sounding so she came off pretty phony being a waitress myself I hate when I hear the fake server voices. The food was taking a bit so the server dropped another basket of bread off without offering an explanation I get that the food could take a while but communicate better with your guests. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out more medium but still edible with the garlic butter on top. However the sides were subpar at best, the ratatouille was undercooked and under seasoned. Don't even get me started on the Garlic Mashed INSTANT MASHED POTATOES. What respectable establishment charges nearly $20 for a steak entree only to serve it with instant potatoes? read more

6/17/2017 Tried and true - one of my favorite places for fried seafood (among other items) but this was the plan for tonight. Sat at the bar, and ordered the summertime tini which was perfectly blended and serviced with the rocks on the side, always a bonus for that little extra. Hubby and I both had the Fried Favorite with Haddock and one was with scallops the other with full belly clams ($2 upcharge but worth it) The plates come with fries, onion rings, and Cole slaw. The portions are large, honestly we could have split one. Bartenders were very attentive and always checked in - great dining experience. Will definitely be back! read more

I went for lunch today with my wife and daughter. We have been before without an issue until today. I was really craving a turkey club, but they did not have it on the menu. What they DID have was a BLT. They also had a hot turkey sandwich. So figured lets get creative. So i asked the waitress if they could add turkey to the BLT and problem solved! If there is an up-charge thats fine. Or so i thought. The waitress said " i dont think we can do that but i will ask". 2 minutes later the manager comes over and says sorry we aren't allowed to do that. So i said thats fine. I thinks its terrible service but whatever. Give me the turkey sandwich. Hold the gravy, add turkey bacon mayo. So the waitress says okay! Yes i finally won. They bring out 4 pieces of dry room temp toast with dry turkey plopped on top. Bacon on a separate plate, and mayo on the side. I now have to assemble it myself. Why? Why be so rigid for no reason? Food there is mediocre at best so they have no right to be so arrogant. We will not be returning read more

This time a fisherman's platter to go. Was ready and waiting when I arrived after a 12 minute ride. Very tasty with plenty of clams shrimp fish and giant sea scallops as well as a separate container of French fries and onion rings. Have eaten there at the restaurant and was happy with all aspics of the experience. read more

3 for food, 4 for service. I'll start with the food. Decent pub fare but nothing that will knock your socks off. My dish was a California Club Sandwich. Chicken was overcooked and lacked moisture. The menu said guac but it was a runny green sauce that lacked any texture or chunks of avocado. More like that stuff you buy in a tub from Shaws. Fries had no seasoning or salt and were made from frozen. Slaw was uninspired and I suspect it came from a white tub. I tried both of my kid's dishes. First was a tortellini Alfredo. Sauce was OK and served with big tortellinis. I would call it your average pre-prepared sauce over from frozen torts. Up next was the Mac n Cheese. Was more like macaroni in a supreme sauce with vague hints of cheese. It was served in the same round, shallow dish that the alfredo came in. I think this dish would rock in a smaller ramekin that could be left under the grill longer. The overall quality of the food would improve with more homemade items. Slaw is so easy and cheap to make and adding more seasonings to the dishes would improve the flavor. Now for the good stuff. Perhaps the most efficient front end staff that I've ever seen. Our waitress was attentive and checked in with us often. I had a question on the bill which looked right but she went out of her way to make sure it was explained to me properly. The hostess was preemptive and had us seated in now time. I also watched them turn a table in what seemed like two minutes and they weren't even on a wait. The owners of this place should take great pride in their staff which I'm sure has people coming back. Overall probably the best bet in town. If you're looking for OK food but fast, this is your place. read more

Good very good they have a large selection. Service very friendly and quick. Ambiance who cares

Had a late lunch with my parents at Grille 58 over the weekend. This is their "new" place and apparently they've been here only a few times, but they said the clams are some of the best, so when I said I was getting hungry, they suggested we go. I am glad they did. Dad and I got the fried clam roll. His with rings and mine with fries, so we could share. Mom got the scallop roll and onion rings. The clams were fantastic. I only had 1 of Mom's scallops, but they were really good too. Nicely battered and not the least bit greasy. Fries were decent, but I loved the onion rings. These too were not greasy. We didn't eat anything in the roll, but I ate the roll as a side. It was so nicely buttered and grilled and the inside was soft. Delicious! I am looking forward to going again. Service was great. As soon as we walked in my parents were greeted like old friends, even though they have only been a few times. And it's not often that my Dad finds a place where he likes to go and sit down for a meal. He's more of a take-out so he can sit at home and eat, but Mom said that he actually likes going to Grille 58 and eating in the restaurant. I think that says a lot. read more

I have tried this restaurant a few times since it opened and every time I am disappointed. In my previous review I noted the smell of seafood, which I am not a fan of. Maybe seafood is their specialty, but everything else I have tried has been terrible. Most recently due to COVID we picked up take-out I went with a honey chicken wrap and onion rings. There was hardly any honey dressing on the chicken and the chicken was dry, stale and overcooked. I couldn't even eat it. The onion rings weren't bad. I hate to leave a bad review during a time where restaurants are struggling, but I have tried over and over to give my support and give these guys a chance and time after time I have been disappointed. The place is always busy so some people enjoy it.. it must be their seafood. read more

Grille 58 is really good. My wife and used to go three times a week when we lived in Halifax. I got a New York Sirloin this time and I've gotta say I have never seen a steak trimmed that well. There was no fat cap left on it at all. It was great. Cooked right and topped with blue cheese and bacon. How can you go wrong? They also have excellent scallop which my wife got. Again they were great as they always are. And I must add since the price of scallops went through the roof many restaurants went to cheap processed smaller options but here they are HUGE and really good. read more

Food was amazing. I'm on a road trip in 8 different states and here was the best food I ordered. The beef and reef was absolutely phenomenal. I greatly enjoyed this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with how nice and clean the establishment was. The food was very good as well. I ordered the fisherman's platter with scollops, haddock, and whole clams. The portions were just right and I was very happy with the quality. The only negative I would say is that the onion rings did not impress me very much and next time I would ask to replace them with more fries. Overall I would say this is a very family friendly restaurant that I would be happy to go to again. read more

What can I say! This restaurant is amazing. The wait is well worth it their food is first rate, and if u like martinis be sure to have Chrissy Anne make you one, you will not be disappointed. I had the swordfish tender and moist. I gave it 5 stars even with the wait some reviewers knock of a star, not me. TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT. read more

Placed a take out order because the restaraunt is close and food is reliably ok. I got there 10 minutes later knowing they would be busy. I picked up part of my order and I was told it would be 5 minutes more for the last item. After ten minutes I politely asked when my order would be ready. Five more minutes. Based on the wait already I requested to be credited the difference minus the last item. The cashier gave me a snarky look and took out a $10.00 dollar bill and change and slammed it into my hand. I'm a quiet and reserved person but I had to say somethng. I told her that she should learn a new customer service skill set. I told her politeness would help with the apparent stress she was under. And I said "Please, Thank you, and My Appologies", would go a long way in her position. Her response was a snarky mean little teenage smirk. Won't be going back here again as there is much more competition in Plymouth done the road and I'll be treated better. The chicken was overcooked and only 3 croutons on the salad. Little snary cashier you should take lessons from Rodney's Kitchen also in Halifax, polished manners, super nice and foods is delicious. read more

Where do i start ? Awful awful awful.. this was our 3rd time visiting . 1st time we just got pizza and a drink , wasn't anything special. 2nd time we got seafood and the food was blah , the rolls were stale, the seafood didn't taste fresh . Tonight we went back because its so Close to my house , to give it another chance . I got seafood medley with mash potatoes . The seafood medley had no seafood stuffing and was cold , the mash potatoes were cold like they had been taken out the fridge . My gf got the Neptune pasta , changed the sauce from Alfredo to scampi sauce . It came out gross , was super salty and the seafood was overcooked . When we told the manager about it she question my girlfriend 3 different times about it carrying the plate with her explaining because she changed the sauce type it was my gf fault . Then came back 2nd and 3rd time with plate saying she and the chef tasted it (lies) and she couldnt taste the salt . We have eaten out 100 times and sent food back maybe once , she was the most unprofessional manager id ever witnessed. She blatantly made my gf look like some kind of liar and tried to shame us basically saying we are charged either way. Mind you my gf took one bite , all the seafood was still in the dish but the manager made it seem like my gf was a thief and trying to steal a free meal . Doesn't help my Girlfriend is not white , sad to say but by the way she handled this it made it seem like it was more than about a dish . Disgusting place , horrible service and food ! read more

We went there Saturday night, the 2nd of February for our anniversary. We were told that the wait was about 30-35 minutes. We waited 40 before my husband went up and asked how much longer. He was told about another 30-40 minutes. After about an hour, we noticed people that had come in after us were being seated, 50 of them to be exact. My husband went back to the hostess and asked what was going on with that. He was told by her that that was family and friends of the owner. If they knew that they had this many people coming in, they should have been honest about how long the wait would be. No apology was offered. We ended up leaving. Had we known about this up front, we would have just left initially before wasting our time. read more

Sadly taking away another star as my friend didn't like the veg they were serving so asked if he could substitutes it for rice or potatoes, they said there is an up charge of $1. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely helpful and friendly. I had the onion soup and it was really good. Husband had clam chowder, thin but tasty. Not extraordinary but pretty good and their prices are good. read more
