I've been here before with family and friends,it was OK, nothing phenomenal. My wife and I stopped in about 5:00 one evening for an early supper and got the rudest server we've ever encountered. When we declined drinks and asked for water, his attitude soured, after serving our dinners, salmon and a burger, he was tremendously put out when I asked for mustard and we never saw him again. Family and I came here for Mother's Day brunch. Brunch was a three-course meal, which included assorted salads, an entree, and various desserts in a nice buffet-style set up. Everything-- and I'm not kidding-- EVERYTHING we had tasted good. We all got different dishes, which worked well for sampling purposes. Of course I was already stuffed by the time the entree arrived, because I'd loaded up on the delicious apple-spinach salad (what the **** do they put in that honey balsamic vinaigrette!? It's amazing), but that sure didn't stop me from trying some of everything. Fluffy eggs. Juicy, succulent turkey. Fresh, crisp veggies. Perfectly-cooked steak kabobs. Gooey, rich delicious stuffed French toast. And at the end, a smorgasbord of caramel, raspberry, orange and chocolate-infused desserts. We always do Sunday brunch here.. excellent service, price and selection. We wanted pizza last night, and realized there is not really a decent sitdown pizza place in town with reasonable prices and a good atmosphere.. we looked at the menu online for Grille 26 and thought "why not" when we saw the artisan pizza menu. At $11 each the pizzas were just a bit too big for single serving, and wow were they great!!!!! We finished with the waiter's suggested bourbon apple crumble (it is a cross between a crumble and a white cake) with vanilla bean ice cream. One of the best desserts in town to share!! read more

I've got to admit: coming to Sioux Falls, I did not have high expectations for "Grill 26." I had imagined an upscale Applebee's (at best). Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. When my pinot noir was actually served in a Pinot Noir glass, I was beyond impressed. That's worth a single star right there. Hell, we don't get that in most parts of Cali (unless you're in a high-end wine bar or five-star establishment with a wine sommelier). Then, the menu at Grill 26 had a wide variety of creative culinary selections which left me pondering the menu for quite some time. I opted for the (fairly) local (definitely "regional") Walleye. I am very glad I did ... perfectly prepared and still moist and delicious with some delightful fingerlings and carrots on the side. Nothing to blow your socks off, but rock solid, quality food, for sure. My only criticism was that it was slightly under-seasoned. An easy enough fix. Plus, the service (at the bar) was exceptional. My co-worker was turned on to this place by the person next to her on the plane so when in Sioux Falls for work we went here - I was glad. While we were here they had a New Orleans theme going on and the Jack Daniels Iced Tea was almost as good as the food! Grill 26 is a great casual dining experience. The food was prepared great and looked amazing! Problem was some of the food didn't taste the greatest. Just be weary, and ask the hostess what she would recommend before becoming adventurous. The bar, however, has an excellent selection of craft beers on tap as well as a good variety of liquors and spirits. It's clean, it's well decorated, and the bartenders are top notch. Date night with my wife! There were highlights and some disappointments. "Woohoo" level: 1) I was with my wife and she looked smokin' hot! 2) The Bangkok Shrimp appetizer was very good and I would recommend it! "Yay!" level: 1) The Saffron Broth Mussels were very tasty. The broth was delicious and I asked for extra bread to soak it up! 2) Waitress was very nice and fairly attentive. "A-OK" level" 1) Salmon Benedict. The prosciutto wrap was good. "Meh" level: 1) The mussels had been handled quite roughly and there were many broken shells pieces in the broth and mussels. I didn't enjoy spitting out mussel shell pieces. 2) The Salmon was a little over cooked. It was not as moist as I would want. The saffron hollandaise was barely there. Recommendation if you order the Salmon Benedict is to ask for an extra side of saffron hollandaise. 3) Dueling Brownies were OK but lacking in freshness. My wife said afterwards that Grille 26 seemed like it was a restaurant that didn't quite know what it's identity was. It was kind of like an Applebees with a more romantic ambiance. This is kind of like the kid about whom a teacher would write a note to the parents saying "Your student lacks focus but show potential." They definitely could have stepped up their game! I was intrigued by the roasted apple part of the salad, i've never had roasted apples in a salad before. the sweetness brought out by roasting the apples reminded me a little bit of having dessert in my salad, not to say this is a bad thing in this case. unfortunately, my entree was not so good. i ordered the chicken rigatoni that was tossed in this naked pesto sauce. it was flavorless. i felt so bad because the waiter was so nice and seeing that I barely put a dent in my salad was definitely a sign to him that I was not happy with my choice. oh well ;( read more

Holy Cow!!! I'm in South Dakota for an 8 week Nursing assignment, got so tired of fast food. Grill 26 was recommended by the manager at my apartment complex. I had the salmon which was seasoned and cooked to perfection! It was served on a bed of grilled risotto with a side of braised spinach and tomatoes with a wonderful texture and flavor. It was our first night out after moving to Sioux Falls. My MIL was along and she's kinda a "careful" eater so we couldn't go too crazy. This place was awesome. We took along our 14 month old as well - they were receptive to her and made sure her order came out quickly so she could start eating. 1. Service- very very good. They refilled drinks before they ran out - for everyone and multiple times. It wasn't very busy but this is still one of my measuring sticks. Also, empty plates were quickly removed and everyone was courteous and helpful. 2. Food - Excellent. We all had the tomato basil soup which was creamy and delicious. I had the BEST meatloaf I've ever had. I typically will let the server order my meal and bring me anything - I had read that this was good meatloaf, but I was really pleased. It was more savory like a salisbury steak and the mashed potatoes were delicious. It also came with a small piece of bread which was buttery and salty - very tasty. My veggie was carrots which were crunchy and nicely prepared. My husband had Lemon Luau Teriyaki and quite enjoyed it. MIL had the Champagne Chicken and ate nearly the entire thing - also with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. High praise. (I did sneak a piece of my daughter's corn dogs - not too bad either and they had plenty of healthy side options for kids including fruit, cottage cheese, applesauce and salad). 3. Ambiance was very nice. The restaurant is next to a (nicer) strip mall and large park - to be honest it doesn't look that big from the road. But the inside is expansive, nicely decorated and nice lighting. There was tons of seating including a lounge and a bar area. The rest of the tables weren't crammed together and we had our dining area almost to ourselves on a Monday night (which is nice with a toddler). 4. Price - I thought these prices were pretty good. Most entrees were in the $12-$20 dollar range which is what I consider "Olive Garden Pricing" - not too bad. And the quality of food was worth it - put together with the service this was a steal. Overall I was really happy with this restaurant. Moving from a bigger city (Milwaukee, WI) to a smaller one, I was worried I would miss my nearly weekly eating out - but this was a great start. read more

We loved this place initially. We had finally found a restaurant we loved in Sioux Falls. Until just after Thanksgiving last year, we took our family to our new fav and we all (All but the one who didn't go) ended up with food poisoning or the stomach flu. On one visit we had a splendid meal. Everything was wonderful. The ravioli were some of the best I've ever had. Service is fantastic. Our last visit was not so good. Ordered the "featured" beef pierogis as my entree. I had high expectations, based on prior meals. Wow was I wrong. The taste of pepper was overwhelming, followed by the bitter taste of some unknown herb. Too much Basil? The pasta was tough and chewy. I couldn't taste the beef due to the overpowering sauce over the pierogis. We alerted the waiter and he said he would alert the chef and take the two orders off our bill. (Note: I ate two pierogis out of 6. The second plate remained untouched as our daughter wouldn't eat them after tasting mine.) The waiter didn't offer to bring out something else to replace pierogis. We ended up ordering some Mac N Cheese for our daughter (which was fantastic). I ended up not eating. When our bill arrived, the two pierogi dishes were still on it, as was the Mac N Cheese dish. We paid the bill, but decided we would avoid this restaurant from now on. The inconsistency of the food and the attitude of the chef (I guess he figured we didn't know good food?) ensures we won't be visiting anytime soon. read more
