Talk about a perfect place to minimize distractions and focus on enjoying a delicious cocktail or the company you are sharing it with. At the Carpenter Bar, the lights are low, there is minimal seating, and it's easy to just slow down, sip on your drink, and enjoy your evening. If you're looking for a Busch light or a vodka Red Bull, this probably isn't your scene, but if you appreciate the finer things and attention to detail with your spirits, definitely try to get a table or a seat at the bar here. I will definitely go back. This Three-Quarter Nelson cocktail is essentially a whiskey sour with a little amaretto softening the spirit and adding such a delicious nutty element to the drink. read more

2014 tumblr became a bar in Sioux Falls. Navy blue, taxidermy, marble, and gold accents. The ambiance is clear here: the Classic Hipster. Aside from the aesthetic, my party genuinely enjoyed their bevs. The Hot Buttered Rum was incredible (I ordered two). The espresso martini was real and not one bit milky. One of my favorite cocktail bar in town. The service is incredible and the mixologists are skilled. I came in and ordered a drink not on my menu (Pornstar Martini) it was missing the shot of Prosecco on the side but they tried their best and that's what I appreciate. It was still good! My partner had the espresso martini and he enjoyed it as well. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the summer night! read more

While in Sioux Falls visiting a friend, we decided to stop in here to get a beer. We ran into friends of hers who were sitting on the patio, so we joined them. What started with two ended up being nearly a dozen people enjoying drinks and bar food while having a great time on the patio/sidewalk. The service was very efficient, competent, and professional. They did not hesitate, even with such a large and growing party. I loved it. The only feedback I have is that there is only one bathroom. If you need it, and you will because it is a bar, you will likely have to wait in a line and hold it. Adding a second bathroom would be a great service. read more

Carpenter is located in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls. It offers good cocktails and a nice patio seating area during the summer. I visited with a friend and we were satisfied with the drinks. They are priced fairly and not taxed, which was surprising. Reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because service left a lot to desire. I was ignored for 15 minutes, the bartenders and servers saw me but never even greeted me or asked if I needed anything or to be seated. It was until I went up to a bartender and asked if I could take a seat at a table in the patio, that's when I was able to get some service. read more

Perfect ambiance for a weekend night out, we came in for a pre-dinner cocktail. Cocktails were EXPERTLY crafted with table service from the bartenders. On my visit, bartender was a bit harsh. Went up to bar to give ID (as I'm a younger looking guy) and he told me to go to a table. Possibly later overheard him talking with a patron about how I was a dumbass. Drinks were good but that did sour my experience. read more

Awesome cocktail bar. For the month I was there on business, the bartenders were friendly, great with their service, drinks, and openly gay friendly (big rainbow flag displayed openly on the street). I am slightly bias by the many handsome bartenders I should say, but I like a good cocktail too and this place deliver on both. read more

Visiting from San Diego, I didn't expect a place like this in Sioux Falls!! I love the setup inside, not too big but enough. Dark but it's really a good vibe. Cocktails are so good too. Only disappointing part is that they only have two red wines, Cabernet and Pinot Noir. read more

10/10 , stellar. Absolutely worth the stop. Great date spot, great employees, helpful, mindful, CAREFUL! I asked for a drink, not realizing they're heavy pour I took a drink and asked for a non alcoholic drink in its place bc I'm driving and on my bike, immediately granted, no questions, (even though it was my mistake), I'll always come back and always give great reviews. The sister cocktail bar to The Treasury at The Hotel Phillips. A MUST stop as you explore your way through downtown Sioux Falls. A great vibe. Dark and a speakeasy feel to it. Great tunes and the only thing better are the awesome supercool mixologists. Superior selection of booze and these folks will take that cocktail up,another notch. Run and don't walk here. Seats fill up fast for good reason. read more

We stopped in for a quick drink on our way to another establishment and we were very impressed with their very unique decor and cozy feel ( Some may even call it small ). We asked about an appetizer menu and a dinner menu for a possible dinner the following night but regrettably they serve no food. This bar is the former lobby of the Carpenter hotel next door. The Bartenders ( sorry, I refuse to call them Mixologists ) were very helpful on giving recommendations on drinks and some local attractions. The Carpenter bar is well worth stopping in for a drink or two but get there early because it fills up quickly. read more

The servers here are very rude! I was with my daughter who was underage and wasn't ordering any drinks, yet they cussed us out and made us leave because they simply "thought" she was drinking. He told us to "f off" 3 times and took our drinks from us that we got from another place. Very unprofessional. Never seen a place that treats customers so terribly. read more

In town for work and super excited to check this place out. I went with my coworkers after eating at Crawfords. We walked in and although there were a few seats at the bar, they told us they did not have room for six. Super pretentious and apparently did not want to have six very well paying customers. Super disappointed, but will not be recommending to anyone in the local area. If I could give zero stars I would. You won't last with this mantra. Be kind and accept all! read more

Dude that says the drinks are horrible must not like cocktails. This is the best cocktail bar around. You have to go to Minneapolis to get better. Very knowledgeable and friendly owner. It gets busy so you might have to hang out for a while. read more

By the second pull, beverage was gone. Way overpriced for what you get which in essence is a tall glass of ice with a splash of booze. Sad.

I said; I have to buy two?!! She said no, it's buy one get one free. Which apparently is on most their drinks!!! The crowd was quite diverse ranging in age, and sects. The tavern was a good size with the bar wrapping around the majority of it. A pool table, jukebox, and TV supplied a bit of entertainment. But it seemed the real reason people came here was to drink, and do it very cheaply I might add! This seemed to be an "in between bar" as most people were coming and going to other venues, or looking to meet up with friends. Almost like a "home base" people seemed to meet here, leave, then come back to see who else had stopped in. This is definitely my kind of bar, and if I lived here this would be my spot.

The wine , Sauvignon Blanc was sent back. The food was ok, typical bar food. Three people all thought,well i could have had a V-8! The bartender and server were the happiest people, glad to go to our room for a real drink!

Both dishes showed some real creativity in the kitchen. But what really sets R Wine Bar & Kitchen apart is the environment. This place has a vibe. I ended up meeting some cool people traveling through from Tennessee and had some of the best conversations I've had at a bar. Really friendly people all around. That kind of atmosphere can't be manufactured. The Verdict: R Wine Bar & Kitchen is the real deal. Never caught her name but loved her blue hair! I could tell the rest of the bar was full of regulars and we felt a little out of place. But, it's a tiny bar on a Sunday night. We almost witnessed a fight! And a patron had to be cut off and he somehow didn't fall as he was leaving. I pray he didn't drive. More than 1 person complimented my husband's beard. Was a tad bit awkward. LoL He used the bathrooms and he said it was fine. Prices were good. I noticed they had a lot of specials and happy hours. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. Gave it 3 stars because I wasn't disappointed nor was I blown away. Neutral rating for a neutral experience. Beware of pot holes in the parking lot.
