We evaluated around 6-7 companies, and off the recommendation of a neighbor we had Letts come out. I was a bit hesitant because you are charged for a minimum of an hour, there is no free estimate. However, in that time he shored up a leak with a temporary patch and had an estimate of how much work it would be to take care of everything, which ended up being much more reasonable than some other places we evaluated. Adam came back when he had enough open schedule to fix everything and some parts were shipped in. An incredibly nice guy, and just an incredibly fair and integrity oriented operation. All the vendors I evaluated were five stars with many reviews, but Letts was the only one that didn't feel like I was being upsold and he was just out there to help me solve my problems. Honestly can't wait to hire them again, which is an absurd thing to say about a plumber, but man what a great experience. I will rave about them to anyone who will listen.

Absolute Plumbing is one of the worst plumbing companies in the Bay Area. We hired them to fix a…read moreleak at a Grundfos recirculating pump connection. Two technicians arrived, and I showed them where the pump was leaking. One technician removed the leaking gasket. They asked me to pay for and order the gasket, which took a week, and asked me to pay $527 for less than one hour of time, which I paid for the first visit. They sent a new technician to install the new gasket a week later, but the new technician didn't know what to do and left in a hurry. I called the manager, who accused me of being anti-immigration, which is false since I speak some Spanish and often hire immigrants. They emphasize "Diamond Certified," which doesn't mean anything since they cannot repair anything. Absolute waste of time and money.

We sent our kitchen assembly instructions ahead of time to make sure they were aware. My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

This was my first time using Josh (Griff's Construction) and I am very happy with his work. Josh reinforced our retaining wall and capped two rows of brick layered onto the wall. He also repaired bricks that were raised in our backyard walkway to prevent a tripping hazard. He also did a layer of brick on our walkway to improve drainage down the sidewalk. He was on time and he started drilling without following my instructions of using my previous drill…read moremarks as a guide for where to drill (just not in the exact spot but next to the mark) since I had done accurate measurements. Now the curtain is an inch from the floor. He drilled the holes before asking me how I was hanging them but that would only cause about a half inch difference. I'm not sure he's hung curtains before because the rod on each end is in alignment with the window and decorators use 1-3 " from the window. My marks were about an inch away from the window on either side. The job took an hour for $125 which seems high. After he left I found the right bracket holding the rod wasn't flush to the wall. This was my original issue and that's why I had contacted him to come out. I was told the wall was plaster and I think that's why he charged more because it's a pain to deal with. Turns out it was sheet rock. Anyway, I will be moving the rod out to accommodate a wider curtain and I'll probably move it down to where it should be so it was a waste of money.
