The bus was 30 minutes early. We left 20 mins earlier than the original time. It was a nice relaxing ride.

Uber is the greatest way to travel in NYC!…read more Install the App everyone! I was in NYC this weekend. It was raining. No cabs so I called Uber. WOW! In a sec they told me how many cars in my area, the closest one, how many minutes away. Photo, Name, license plate, color & model of car! I used it three times. No money exchanged hands, everything is done with your account. As long as you have your phone your all set to go!!!! Uber drivers take you anywhere ( nothing is too far & return you later) including NJ, PA... No cab driver moaning about how many fares he'll lose. I am a New Yorker at heart. I know my way around the city very well. Unfortunately there is always construction going on, but I know where I'm going.

The first booking I ever made with Uber, went well. I reserved an Uber several days in advance of a…read moreride to the airport - which is 27/miles from my home (a 31/min ride). The cost was reasonable $36.79 for a 4:30AM pickup on a Thursday. I tipped my driver 25%. My second Uber booking was ultimately a FAILURE. This was my return trip from the airport to my home, two days later on Saturday evening. Landing at 9:30/PM, retrieving baggage and contacting Uber at 10:00/PM. The least expensive Uber was $136.00 and the prices went up according to vehicle. That is "quadruple" what I paid two days earlier. This fee is/was, nothing but a scam and a ripoff. Totally taking advantage of weary travelers who want to get home. I would not pay the fee. I did not book an Uber. I took a taxi for $77.00 which is also expensive - but I had little choice, I paid. I will find other alternatives in the future, like hiring a neighbor.

When I'm feeling cheap (read: it's a weekday and I don't feel like paying NYS fare prices in…read moreBrewster and there's a reasonable service frequency) I take the train from Danbury. It's a quiet little station devoid of the crackheads who are rampant in Waterbury, so police presence isn't needed late at night - yeah, it's deserted, but on the same side, nobody's going to bother you walking to your car at the garage across the street because there's nobody there to bother you. However, if it's the weekend or I don't want to spend a zillion years travelling, or just need better service frequency, I'd take the extra 15 minutes to ride over the state line to Brewster. On the weekend the slight extra expense for tickets evens out when your round trip is 80 minutes shorter and parking is free. That said, during the week there are some direct to/from GCT trains during peak hours.

Danbury is the first stop so I am guaranteed a spot to sit. The station is small, quaint and clean! I have yet to be inside the little building - so I may have to update this review. There is parking right in front of the station which I opted not to do as I have black leather seats which would be scorching when I got home and thinking ahead I do not want to shovel snow off my car. I park in the deck which is very close. The conductors on this line are very nice and even comedic. While the ride to Stanford is long - I know I will quickly get used to it. I can sleep! It has only been 3 days but the service has never been delayed.
