In my years of camping I've found that…read moremost campgrounds have a habit of tossing patrons on a tiny plot of land and collecting cash...at Nickerson the experience was the complete opposite. After giving us directions over the phone, owner Chris graciously welcomed us into a lodge loaded with board games, table tennis, pool and a few arcade machines. He gave us our site number and a brief rundown on who was camping on the sites to either side of us (which is extremely helpful!) and an itinerary of events going on during the weekend. He was extremely helpful and kind to us, and recommended some awesome hiking trails. The campground is awesome, the plots aren't too small, and the grounds are shared between RV and tent camping. On top of the great stuff in the lodge, Nickerson has a playground, volleyball net and basketball course to keep the family busy. Even going with friends as an adult I was quite content with the array of things to do on the campground alone. I highly recommend Nickerson Park Family Campground!

The taste of Hartford 2026 was an opportunity to walk the streets of Hartford looking for something different to taste. The Music, the vibe, The diversity of food was very impressive, Jamaican, Spanish, Asian, American etc, from sweets to refreshing drinks you could get anything you wanted. We also got to watch a Nacho cook off, the best part was everyone was invited to taste the nachos after the competition. I cant wait for 2027 Taste of Hartford.

I knew I would only be able to show up on the Saturday for this year as this was my only day off in almost 2 weeks. I checked the weather and decided that if I was gonna go, I would need to be prepared, so I bought myself an umbrella a few days before over at REI's Norwalk location to deal with the rain today. Also, you use tickets that you buy ahead of time if you want to buy anything here. They're $1.10 a ticket. I got 50 tickets in total. It's a 2-day festival, but some things in the event are only available on one day of the two, so you kind of have to pick and choose what you're doing there. Thankfully, when I went I was able to visit the Yelp table to grab myself some souvenirs. I got souvenir box that had hand sanitizer, matches, a mint lip balm, and Yelp sunglasses with UV 400 eye protection. I also got to have a 360 video cam session that was much appreciated from their table. Much like the review before me, I'm not going to review each of the restaurants I went to the food stands for. I feel like in order to leave an honest review, I would need to come back to Hartford at a later date and go to the actual restaurants in person. But I will briefly talk about each of the places I did visit. First there was Hartford Flavor Company where I got to sample a sour cherry shot and a chocolate shot. I preferred the chocolate, but I do get why the sour cherry is a staff favorite. I got what I believe was the lavender toast? It was 8 tickets. Next, I had to stop by Trumbull Kitchen's tent as I had passed by the actual restaurant right after I got off the 928 bus on my way to the festival. I got their Yuzu margarita which was my favorite drink of the day. 10 tickets, and the people there were nice. After that, Black Eyed Sally's. I will say this was my least favorite stop of the 5 I did, but what I got was still pretty good. I had the BBQ Pork sundae, which was supposed to be 14 tickets. I say "supposed to be" because I asked the employee tending to my order to take the tickets needed and she took 15. She wasn't exactly the friendliest person I met that day, but I still got my order quick, so I'm not gonna complain too much. Next, I needed something cold to balance out the heat from the last thing I ate, so I did Capital Ice Cream and got The Hartford Dough Down. This cost me 11 tickets, but service here was much friendlier than at Black Eyed Sally's. The ice cream was probably my favorite food item of the day. Actually, I had wanted to say that to the person I bought my tickets from, but that person was gone when it was time for me to leave. C'est la vie! Lastly, I needed to get rid of my last 6 tickets, so I went over to The Hooker Brewery and grabbed a Chill AF. It costs 5 tickets, but I let them have my final ticket to make 6. They seemed like nice people, and it was a good drink to end off the food tour. Overall, The Hartford Taste is a good time, but if I were to go again, I would make sure not to go on a rainy day. On a nice day, this can really be a great early summer attraction. I still had fun nonetheless and would be down to try it again in the future. Of the places I went to, I would most want to come back to try Hartford Flavor Company, Trumbull Kitchen, and Capital Ice Cream in earnest.

The only complaint I have would be the location of the electrical hook ups for the weekend campsites, compared to the fire pit, I felt as if we needed to move our camper further away and fun the extension cord because I was afraid of the fire being to close. Also the campsite we had was not very level, so we had to use several stabilizers to get one side high enough to level out. I didn't take many pictures because we were busy outside playing, but we really did enjoy our stay. ****Also make sure to be aware of their visitor policy and prices*****

Before she…read morecould even get there an extremely upset woman came out screaming at us not to block the gate, our guests were behind us so we backed far enough to clear the gate and signaled the remaining two cars to go around us, one did. The other car finally got the hint and went around but made it clear they were not happy. Needless to say our arrival was anything but pleasant. We had to dump and drove to the station, the trees were so close together at the 90* degree turn we scraped the side of our Rv. When leaving we dumped again but had to drive into brush to avoid our previous peril. The park was obviously designed for pull behind cracker boxes. Our visit was pleasant with a large space, large fire pit and view of the pond across the road. The entire park is 30 amp and we had to use a pigtail for power. Our guests had to pay $12 each just to enter the park, a rip off in my opinion. Our two day stay was to be $180, but the add on fees brought the total to around 250.00. We have been full timers for over 7 years and have never been charged such add ons in any other park. Final thoughts, after everything I can say we probably will never return to this park. It was pleasant but adding the damage to my rig, our arrival pleasantry and being nickel and dimed to death I should rate this park and visit a "one". When my wife went to check out Monique was very apologetic but she was limited to that.

Gosh, where to begin? We were going to pass through CT to…read moremake it to PA to spend the night when our diesel truck started having serious problems. I quickly looked for a campground hoping they could take us, and that the truck could make it there. As we came limping in, Josh met us to help us quickly park. It soon became apparent, we were going to need a place to stay for several days. Doug, the owner, worked with us in every way, to ensure we were welcomed and would continue to have a place to stay while our truck was being taken for repairs. What a beautiful place to spend an unexpected week. The lake, hiking and amenities are amazing, but the best thing about Wilderness are the people! Saturday night Doug and his wife, Holly, hosted a gathering. We immediately felt right at home with so many friendly people, it was like a family gathering. We even won a gift card to a local restaurant!! We stayed for a week, and now we have a new favorite to add to our destinations! We really look forward to returning, only under better circumstances next time. Thank you Doug, Holly and Josh!!

Lots of activities if you are traveling with kids and some fun things to do as adults. Pool is warm and gorgeous. Lots of seasonals but we still felt welcome. We had a very nice lake front site. Pros: clean, quiet (no partiers), manicured grounds, nice pool. Attentive management, well stocked store, lunch counter, clear lake beach. Rules are enforced (and appreciated). Fun dance on sat night, perfect blend of 80's, country and some hip hop for the teens. Cons: not very wooded (I like woods) and there could be more privacy. Highway runs on back of lake and by the "Safari area" so there is highway noise. Not awful but if you are looking for super quiet make sure to ask for a site without the highway. Campground would have received five stars if there were more trees on my site and the highway disappeared (note this are personal preferences of mine and should not reflect on campground management). It is a lovely campground close to shore and casinos if that's your thing.

Took a bus trip to a Yankee game today…read more Driver rating - 4 stars-nice smooth fast ride. We ran into a big backup in Danbury, he jumped off the highway, made a few zigs and zags and got us onto 684 easy as can be. Nice driving on tight street corners in the Bronx. If only he had more of a personality he'd have rated 5 stars - he was kind of quiet Bus rating - 2 stars Bus seemed old and out of kilter. We rode on Bus #43, and the second TV monitor on the right was terrible - it blinked off and on the whole trip. On the way home there was a major malfunction of the Air Conditioning that had water pouring out of the overhead bins onto many passengers. Some of the water was brownish and disgusting. Must have been some sort of a drainage issue. So how did they "fix it"? Easy- they shut off the overhead AC on a day that saw triple digits of temperature.

It went perfectly with this company. They were able to provide 55 passenger buses for a very reasonable price. I also kept making last minute changes, Darren was so easy to work with. He told me not to worry and we could make changes as often as needed. Most importantly the buses arrived early, got everyone where they needed to be, and were clean and air conditioned.

9/19/21 Being the oldest continuously operating ferry in the country makes me wonder how I've never…read moreused this historic treasure before now. It's actually a barge, guided by a very small tug boat, making it a quaint and interesting mode of crossing the Connecticut River. It holds a mere 3 cars (and in my case, 3 cars plus my motorcycle). Crossing takes about 5 minutes, and affords a scenic view of the river and environs. Six bucks for passage on a weekend is a bargain in my book, considering how enjoyable riding a piece of floating history it is. It also is invaluable to some commuters and bicyclists that have no real other way to get across the river, without going eleven miles to the next closest bridge crossing. It's great as no more than a tourist attraction in my case! Loved the ride. You will too!
