The first booking I ever made with Uber, went well. I reserved an Uber several days in advance of a ride to the airport - which is 27/miles from my home (a 31/min ride). The cost was reasonable $36.79 for a 4:30AM pickup on a Thursday. I tipped my driver 25%. My second Uber booking was ultimately a FAILURE. This was my return trip from the airport to my home, two days later on Saturday evening. Landing at 9:30/PM, retrieving baggage and contacting Uber at 10:00/PM. The least expensive Uber was $136.00 and the prices went up according to vehicle. That is "quadruple" what I paid two days earlier. This fee is/was, nothing but a scam and a ripoff. Totally taking advantage of weary travelers who want to get home. I would not pay the fee. I did not book an Uber. I took a taxi for $77.00 which is also expensive - but I had little choice, I paid. I will find other alternatives in the future, like hiring a neighbor. read more

Heads up to anyone who uses Uber they will not give you your money back even if they have to by the terms in the cancelation fee spot. So In terms for cancelation it specifies that if u cancel after 5 mins you get charged a fee. I canceled in 1 minute. Now also if driver is not on route I also dont get charged. Now they charged me a fee even tho it says they wouldn't charge one. Im trying to fight them on it and they purposely closed my ticket and didnt give me the yes no option where u can try to get more help. They even made it so the AI won't connect you to representatives. Here's the terms where it shows when they do or don't apply fees: read more

Although most drivers are great. Had an experience on 4/28. A female driver harassed me. I am physically disabled and 78 years old. I haven't used Uber in awhile. I made a reservation for an Uber driver to pick me up at my home yesterday. I made this reservation 3 days ago and it was confirmed. Well the driver showed up unexpectedly 30 minutes early. I wasn't ready and he IMd me he was here. I scrambled to reply as I was getting ready and asked him to wait 5 minutes- without hesitation he bolted and LEFT. I messaged him asking why he left - he said he was told by UBER to arrive early !! I never requested that. Then he charged me!! I lost my doctor appointment and was charged $150 for not showing up even though I called and explained that Uber never picked me up. Office policy if you don't cancel 24 hrs in advance you get charged. Never will use Uber again. I did get a refund but no apology from Uber. read more

Uber drivers we have learned how to inflate their scores. We tried to hire an Uber driver this morning for a trip to the airport at 3:30 am. The first driver with a 4.9 canceled on us 48 hours before and it was assigned to a second driver, Brianna. Brianna (rating of 4.95) decided 15 minutes before arriving to cancel as well (we were afraid it was going to happen as no car was on the road at 20 minutes before departure). We did this as an experiment to see how reliable Uber really is at early hours. So, I got up, drove my wife and kids to the airport in Hartford, CT. The drivers don't want to get up that early in Connecticut so if you want support, avoid Uber. I did this as a test because I knew could drive them if the car did not show up (I have to work today so I was not going). In the future, we will pay more for a car service to do this because Lyft failed the same test last year. These car services are good for daytime travel only - early morning or late night you can forget about reliability because the drivers can abandon you with little time left to get another option and you will not learn this from their scores as they cancel before you can rate them. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Flew into Bradley Airport and requested an Uber. This was the first time I'd booked one and the LAST time using this joke of a service. I landed late in the evening and requested a ride to my sister's house which is about 40 minutes away. Got a driver said 12 minutes away. All good until the ride disappears and the app is searching for a new one. Same thing happens again. I also had sent messages to both drivers telling them where to find me and neither of them responded. Driver #3 picks up the request. About 12 minutes away. Cool. Sent message and got a response. Great! Til he messages me that his GPS sent him to Enterprise Rent a Car 20 minutes away. Said he was coming back to get me and then POOF. Ride disappears and were searching for a 4th driver. Around midnight my sister just came and got me. What should have been a pretty easy process became a complete %#£€ show and my flight that landed at 10:30 pm ended up being 2 1/2 hours of sitting outside the airport and getting to my destination at 1:30 am, Absolutely ridiculous. Your company should be ashamed. I will be sure to share this experience with anyone and everyone. What a joke. read more

Criminal. They will keep money for services not rendered After waiting for 3 hours for food I ordered, the driver marked it as delivered. Except it wasn't. It took me hours of complaining to support and being repeatedly told that I wasn't eligible for a refund to get a partial refund. They won't refund the driver's tip. Apparently, they think the driver should be paid for the order he didn't deliver. So what? I get to pay for the privilege of waiting 3 hours for nothing? Never using Uber again read more

Must update my review. Today was the limit this "necessary evi." They hire no r flush soeaking drivers, thus they do not know area, unable to communicate, unless it's their rap music on high, signing "c--t" to women passengers. However this is the last time the violate my civil right or safety! Use Lyft, hire a driver, use the local taxi waiting at the train stations. Whatever you did. Don't pay uber , to not serve you, possible harass you, carry nothing, and always tell you "this is not their job" well they taking your money - so yes it is their job, and they do not do it at best. Ruin a days plans or violate your safety! Not to mention their fees - after years in NY and Chicago. 68 bucks for 7 miles! Depends on time if wait. Not ever worth it! Use Lyft!!!! read more

One of the biggest problems that I have on yelp is giving negative reviews ,especially to small business owners . But not this time....... Uber The name is supposed to mean "outstanding " I beg to differ. There are many hard working drivers who drive for Uber. For the most part these are good hard working people who are likely taken advantage of by Uber. As a company , Uber is a disgrace . Have you ever had a problem with Uber and wanted to call customer service ??? You can't You can send an email I one had someone try to use my account for a ride in London. Couldn't call customer service Couldn't wait for a answer to my email I had to close my account They started using Pay Pal and I came back I lost my phone on a ride I indicated that on an email I needed to contact my driver I needed to get into my account and they kept sending a verification pin to my phone which I told them I no longer had . Then one time I paid for a trip and the funds were immediately taken from my account . A day later I was hit with a hold for an identical amount that they had already charged me , To the wonderful drivers I have had (except one jerk) I thank you . To the powers that be at Uber I say its small wonder your company lost money for so many years . Homer Simpson could do a better job . read more

be aware of false charges on your credit card for Uber one subscription my mother-in-law, who is 90 years old now has a Uber account because we took her vehicle away from her. I let her use our credit card for purchases then Uber charged her $99.99 for Uber one subscription for a year she never ordered this she would never use this and she is not computer savvy I texted with Uber because you cannot get a hold of them by phone and told them that she never ordered this and she does not want this and to reverse the charge uber would not reverse the charge because they said it was already posted. It was literally two days on my credit card statement. My credit card company will not reverse the charge either because it was already a posted charge. WTH, I call this elder financial abuse. uber is taking advantage of the elders. read more

Live in the US. I phoned for a ride, needed to update my credit card info, waited on hold for over 10 minutes, finally got to relay my new credit card number to a representative (from India), then was placed on hold for 3 minutes, then the representative came back on and asked for the expiry date. I needed a few seconds to walk back across the room to get that (and I said so), to which the representative started to say "Call back when you have that information". Before he finished speaking, I said the expiry date three times, but he hung up on me anyway. About an hour later, while trying to update my card info on the Uber app on my phone (which failed 3 times; despite having entered the info correctly), I got a fraud alert from my credit card company: There were three (3) unauthorized charge attempts on my credit card account, all within the past hour. This is VERY suspicious and more than coincidental. I now have to wait for a new credit card, and its number, which I use frequently, and update that number with all of my auto-pay accounts elsewhere. Apart from that inconvenience, I was not able to get a ride from Uber that day, which I really needed. ... I have afforded Uber chances to provide good service, and Uber has failed. Not the first time I've had difficulties with their so-called customer service. The dozen or so actual rides I've had in the past were OK: No problems with the drivers. read more

My driver was very helpful but problem is with Uber itself. My initial pickup and drop off point were accidentally entered wrong and were only feet apart. I was quoted 6.90 and the car arrived. I made a quick correction with the driver, gave him directions and off we went. Total distance, 0.5 miles no extra stops or side trips. When I discovered a second charge for the same trip, I contacted Uber which insisted that since the change was made after the initial request, the second charge would stand, bringing the final charge to nearly 36.00. This is an insane fee and the customer service of the company is sub par. I work in a customer service area and my boss would have my job if I did this. This is a customer service business and sometimes common sense needs to play a part. That is severely lacking. Maybe next time I'll use Lyft. read more

Please do not ever accept a ride from a lady with the name XIOMARA in the area of New Haven connecticut. This lady was so rude to us the second that we got approached her car. She said we couldn't get into the front seat because she had her "personal belongings" which consisted of skinny pop. Be so for real. So obviously we are college students and we need to get back to sacred heart university which we put as the location, and we double checked that was the drop off location once we got out of the car, and instead she dropped us off at sacred heart academy. Yes, dropped us off, 6 teenage girls on the side of the road in an area we are uncomfortable with and don't know our way around. She was pressing us to get out of the car with dead phones and no way to order another Uber, we could have been kidnapped and left on that street to die. Not to sound dramatic but I think if she had children our age, she would be upset if they were left on the side of the road at 230 am as well. Uber is the greatest way to travel in NYC! Install the App everyone! I was in NYC this weekend. It was raining. No cabs so I called Uber. WOW! In a sec they told me how many cars in my area, the closest one, how many minutes away. Photo, Name, license plate, color & model of car! I used it three times. No money exchanged hands, everything is done with your account. As long as you have your phone your all set to go!!!! Uber drivers take you anywhere ( nothing is too far & return you later) including NJ, PA... No cab driver moaning about how many fares he'll lose. I am a New Yorker at heart. I know my way around the city very well. Unfortunately there is always construction going on, but I know where I'm going. read more

So, being without a car for a few days and having to pick it up, I decided that I'd give this "uber" thing a try. Not that I ever want to use it again, cause that'll mean more car repairs, but, I took several trips with Uber drivers, and I gotta say, either I got lucky each time, or some people just find every little thing to complain about. The drivers were very professional, I got charged exactly what it said on the app. The driver that I had today was really cool, even though he is a Rangers fan, but we talked hockey, traveling, food, it was almost like a mini-roadtrip. So, yeah, nice idea, quicker and cheaper than taxi service. read more

Worst customer service ever! Drivers are usually fine but if they make a mistake in billing, good luck. The double billed me for tips on three separate occasions in one statement period. Contacted them to report the problem and get an automated response asking for info. I sent what they asked for and get a second automated response which never acknowledged the problem and again asked for more info. They never said what info they wanted. Never heard back from them. I'm in the process of doing all of this the second time. It's obvious they're trying to tire you out so you just give up. Meanwhile I disputed charges with credit card company. read more

Big mistake using Uber for a time-sensitive ride. We booked a pickup for an international trip two weeks ago (more than 24 hours in advance) and received a confirmation for a 3:00 p.m. pickup for the next day at our home in CT. No car arrived nor any communication until we received a text at 3:20 saying "Sorry, no drivers are available at this time. Please use an alternative service". We could not call or text anyone at Uber. Fortunately, Rudy's Limousine bailed us out and we made our flight. read more

My first experience with taking an Uber, and it was a very pleasant one! I needed to pick up my car at Meineke of Waterbury, about a 3 mile ride from my home in Wolcott. Uber driver canceled the trip after being stuck in traffic and had the nerve to charge us.

I had used Uber several times- without ant issues. This last ride was horrible- I didn't realize it until afterwards- the driver (obviously a piece of garbage) charged for tolls to an airport where there are NO tolls on the road. He was lost and arrived 15min late and YES-had the nerve to charge me a WAITING fee- REALLY ?? And the most frsutrating thing- is that UBER doesn't have a customer suport telephone number. SHAME on the driver and Uber for allowing this- BTW- I have used their "help" in the app- several times - when I finally did get a response - it stated I was charged a wating fee- no kidding Sherlock!!! read more

Great service! My car recently broke down and would take several days to fix. I had to take UBER from Bridgeport to Stratford for three days! I met three if the nicest hardworking people. They were so friendly and made the ride easy. My car is actually now fixed and I think I am gonna miss my new UBER friends. It was actually a bit of a luxury having someone else do the driving! This was the first time and would use them and recommend them! By the way, pick-up time was three minutes at the longest wait And if you go on line there is a coupon for $5.00 off your first 4 rides, what could be better than that! I'm tired of a few drivers who complain about having to drive from Hartford or West Hartford to Avon when the ride is "so short". I live in a very nice community. On one occasion, the driver actually raised his voice. I gave a lower rating for three different drivers because of this. In addition, some drivers accept the ride, and then they cancel. Uber Left me Stranded to get the the Airport. I had a confirmed ride from Seaford NY to JFK, scheduled and confirmed the day before and morning of my ride. I saw the driver come onto the APP 20 minutes before my pickup. At exactly one minute before my ride was to arrive, I got a message they canceled my ride and saw my driver 30 minutes in the opposite direction. Every time I called the cell #, I got a Spanish recording with no way to reach the driver or the company. Uber was 100% unacceptable for leaving me stranded with no ride to the airport with no apology or excuse. I will never use them again, and LYFT is now getting all my business.
