If I were to express fully the insanity that made up my experience at the "Greyhound Package Express" Indio location, we would be here all day... So Ill elaborate on the highlights.. Or should I say lowlights..
I arrived at 8:30am and was "greeted" by Gavin, whose eyes were glued to his cellphone. He was operating out of a dingy, old trailer. He gave little to no instructions and immediately made me feeI I was intruding on his morning. He told my bf and I to place each of our boxes (totaling out to be 7) on a tiny scale located in a shallow cubby. My bf awkwardly loaded each one on individually, weighing to be an average of 50lbs per box. Gavin asked me my basic info, (name, #, and the destination of the boxes).. I'm not sure if he hadn't woken up quite yet but I was asked to repeat the same info 3 times. After the box weighing episode, I requested insurance.. I was told the max insurance I could was $300..
For all 7 boxes???
Somehow in this insurance process, Gavin lost all the box weight data, and told us to load each one up individually on the scale AGAIN!!
Finally, I was given my receipt and left the trailer. I glanced down at my copy and realized Gavin had scheduled the boxes TO THE WRONG CITY! With great astonishment I went back in and told him that the city was incorrect. Gavin proceeded to lecture me that "he sent it to that city because it was closer to my destination city" No.. The city he sent the boxes to was 40miles out of the way of my destination city.
I asked him why he did not use the information I provided for him. He continued to argue with me regarding the various city locations. Regardless, a shipping attendant should always consult with the costumer the whereabouts of their shipments, and NEVER take it upon themselves to change the arriving destination without clearing it first.
I requested a transfer to the correct city I originally stated and was then told the transaction would have to be voided, and that a manager was now needed to return my cash deposit of $521. I proceeded to ask when/how I could get in touch with said manager, Gavin responded with "I really don't know... I only know my schedule"...
I contacted my mother whom I was shipping the boxes too. She presented me with an alternative shipping method offered by the "Greyhound Express" called "Busfrieghter". Using this shipping method my mother was able to make another purchase online in attempts to ship the 7boxes out immediately, and I would collect my refund after. Surprisingly she paid less than $300 for the same exact shipment/weight! Not to mention a $1000 insurance policy was included! ( shippers I strongly advise using this "Busfreighter" method, located on the Greyhound website under the deals/discounts tab.)
I arrived at the service station yet again to have the boxes shipped, I pleaded with Gavin expressing I am departing for Washington State the following day. Gavin was tremendously unprofessional in his demeanor to say the least, stating "he had already been over this with me, and that he really had no clue" he then grew angry to the point I told him he needed to lower his voice. HORRIFIC!
He told me I could still not ship the boxes out until the initial transaction of $521 was voided out, and he "really didn't know when that was going to be,". I was denied the mangers number when I asked to expedite the process myself. To wrap this novel up, my mother and I devoted the entire day, going around in circles with Gavin, and the corporate offices of Greyhound. The boxes were finally shipped to the correct city initially provided to Gavin at 6pm.. I am currently hunting down my refund of $521...
This place to say the least.. Is a madhouse..
If you choose to use Greyhound to ship, again I advise using the Busfrieghter service. The savings are astronomical, and you can print your labels at home. & just drop your boxes at the station, where they will be scanned and shipped. This way you can limit your contact with this Greyhound Shipping Express, and most of all it's anchor of an employee Gavin. Save your sanity!! read more
