Not even remotely. - experienced multiple instances of misrepresentation and misleading business practices. - Held my household goods hostage subject to various unanticipated "gotcha" charges, forced to pay before receiving my belongings. - resolution only possible after involvement of attorney - business owner Steve Fleischman has multiple personal and commercial bankruptcies. - true to form Mr. Fleischman will declare that I was not a bona fide client or that my statements are false. - with so many licenses and insured LOCAL movers there is virtually NO NEED to patronize this business. - discussions with DFS supply chain partners (affiliated enterprises, customs clearance and freight forwarders) revealed a pattern of non-payment and contract disputes. Very negative experience with DFS. Despite a reasonably competitive, upfront estimate for the shipping of my household goods to Europe, the owner Steve Fleischman found multiple, creative ways to engage in a series of unforeseen charges AFTER he took our belongings hostage. Once he has your valuables, you are literally over a barrel and DFS will do their best to make you sweat while extracting one surprise fee after the next. This includes threatening you with the "potential impounding of all your goods". Strong-arming and preying upon an older, single woman is not beneath these creeps. After many sleepless nights, I ended up paying more than DOUBLE the original estimated price for his "service". There are better, more ethical alternatives in OUR desert than DFS, who are frankly exhausting and treacherous with whom to work. Avoided the snow-job and work exclusively with licensed carriers with no DOT complaints on file. My bad. PS: you can be certain that Steve's response to this review will be to call it "fake" or deny that I was an actual customer. As if anybody has nothing better to do than write fake reviews of a tiny, failure of a business. Caveat emptor!!! read more

They seemed very professional at first, and recommended insurance incase there was any damage. Well there was, and they not only refused to cover it despite my providing repair receipts, but were extremely rude about it. DEFINITELY DON'T RECOMMEND!! read more

Steve's crew picked up my artwork 3 weeks ago and still has not delivered the artwork to my client. He makes all these excuses for the delay. He has been paid for the shipping and crating and now holds my artwork as hostage. I am frustrated with the inconsistency of this company and his failure to do a job he was hired to do. I recently used Desert Freight to ship a few pieces of fragile antique furniture from the desert to Illinois. I was very pleased with Steve and the level of service I received, from the initial quote to delivery. Steve was prompt with providing a shipping estimate and explained the freight shipping process well, as I was unfamiliar with how residential freight shipping works. His team picked my furniture up at a residence in the desert within a couple of days and carefully wrapped and crated the items. Upon delivery in Chicago, I was very pleased with the sturdiness of the crate and the condition of the furniture. Everything arrived safely and intact. The cost was also well below that of what several moving companies had quoted me, and included the cost of pickup, wrapping the items, and building the crate (which the higher quotes I received did not). The large sized items are his specialty, and every shipping category, space and size aspect and class of item goes into his mind as he (while he is on the phone) thinks of the best most efficient way to do it. He moves shipments into the best possible combination and gets it done while you are on the phone. And then he makes it easy and takes over for you and gets it done. I have measured the value of desert freight, and compared their service with other shipping methods and vendors to get quotes.
