This was my fourth time trying to get my display unit fixed. Steve Jewel is a joke for a service manager. He does have some good people working under him, but he does not represent Subaru in a positive light. July 29th 2019. Had an appointment with Gresham Subaru to replace the seat bracket on the passenger side second seat. I was told to talk with Steve Jewel when I came in. I came in asked for Steve, they said he was in his office to go on in. I did there were two people in there, Steve and Hannah who we have dealt with before. I ask the guy behind the desk is he was Steve, he said yes, I introduced myself. He never made an attempt to shake my hand, welcome me, he just said take a seat. I explained to him the issues with the display, I also mentioned that I had video to show them. He had me hand the USB stick to Hannah, she opened the first file of six. We looked at it together. I explained to her what was happening in the video. She went outside and went through a few senries but none of them applied to the problem I was having. Hannah never opened any of the other videos to get a better understanding of the many issues that we are having. I explained to her that even on the manual setting the display would dim, that is not suppose to happen. She agreed, she said that maybe the dash cover was causing some of the issues, I reminded here that the issues were happening before we got the dash cover, and again that in the manual setting it should not effect anything. She adjusted the display by turning the setting on the dash on the lower left of the driver to the highest setting, but that doesn't effect that the display dims at random times. She said that's all they can do. When I went back into the office. Steve informed me that they are not going to try to repair the unit, that as far as they are concerned that it's working as designed. If I had any issues I needed to take it up with Subaru. Neither Steve or Hannah seemed concerned to get the issue fixed. The next issue was the second row seat that would not latch correctly. After 45 minutes of waiting a young man said our car was ready. We walked out with him and he showed me a seat setting that needed to be complete for the seat to lock, and all positions locked. I explained to him we had it checked out by another guy named Drew, he was the one that saw the problem and ordered the part for us. When I explained that to the young man, he said he wasn't given that information and he would check to see if the part was in. I told him the part came in last Thursday and that's one of the reasons why we are there. He checked and came back to say they would work on it right away. Three hours plus from when we came in our car was finally ready. They listed what service they did. I questioned Hannah since they said the looked at the display unit. I said but they didn't fix it. She said they couldn't find anything. Well it's hard to find something when you're not looking. They never looked at all the videos I provided. They had a preconceived determination that nothing was wrong. I contacted customer service and requested an informal dispute resolution from Subaru. read more

I made an appointment a week in advance (with the Gresham Subaru Online Appt.)with Elvis at a time that was scheduled on the Subaru website. I had worked with Elvis before, he did a great job. However, when I arrived, I was placed with Jack, not Elvis. Jack did a fine job contacting me when the car was completed for service. I arrived at the Service Center, where Jack was busy so another (different) service attendant "helped" me complete my paperwork. I asked him if there were any service specials to which he responded that there were not (Elvis was able to find me some service specials the time before), I asked him if he were willing to look, which he was not willing to do (Elvis on his own initiative took the effort to look for specials without being asked). Needless to say, when you walk away making an appointment with a particular service consultant, and you are shortchanged at your expense to get someone else, and then have a third person work with you who isn't willing to lift a finger to attempt a look - not only not a good experience, but I can spend a lot less than 130 bucks for an oil change and a supposed tire rotation (I am not actually sure the tires were rotated - I have a small leak in one tire and that tire seems to be in the same spot...) somewhere else. read more

I love my Subaru, I do not love the customer service at Subaru in Gresham. I had taken my vehicle in for the 36k maintenance and replacement of cabin filter is supposed to be included. When I went over the work done I noticed that they marked the filter as needing to be replaced in the near future but they didn't replace it. I called them out on it and they said that it's fine and doesn't require immediate replacement etc. Fast forward to my car going in at 42k for oil change- they tell me filter needs to be replaced and its $50. After a few words exchanged, mainly by me, they did replace it at no cost. Also- got a recall notice and I have been trying to see about it getting repaired and have been told that parts dept will call me if they have the parts. That was over a week ago. Just seems like if there is a recall, maybe you should be prepared. Subaru as a vehicle is the best- Gresham Subaru is not. read more

Bought a brand new 2021 ascent in august of 2021. Within a month or two we noticed there was a leak from the sunroof, took it in to get it fixed under warranty. Got it back and within another month, another leak, took it back in and got it fixed, and within another months or two.... Leaked again. Took it back again to get it fixed..... got it back and you guessed it....... Leaked AGAIN. Took it back again and they kept it for two weeks, allegedly tested it rigorously, came back and said, "cannot re-create leak" so essentially they did not do anything to repair the leak. They gave it back to me absolutely filthy, parts not put back together correctly, oily hand prints all over the ceiling. Scuffs and scratched on the back interior hatch. And the best part is, they are not going to do anything further to fix it. Super awesome I know. Now we're forced to seek out a lemon law attorney to add even more stress than we've already dealt with. I've never had an issue with the three Subarus I've owned before this one, but if I have any advice for anyone looking to buy one, DO NOT BUY IT FROM THIS PLACE. You are just a number here. All that aside, everyone I've dealt with has been very kind and acknowledged how frustrating this is, but in the end they will do nothing about it to make it a positive experience. I am active duty military stationed in Washington state. I drove down to Oregon to purchase my car because I am originally from there and Oregon is my home of record. These guys tricked me into paying over $2,000 dollars in sales tax even though I even have an Oregon drivers license. I have called to see if there's anything can be done but they are slow with a reply and are never actively trying to help. THEN once I was already back in Northern Washington they asked me for one of two documents. I sent them what I thought they were asking for. Then they said they needed me to send it again. I sent it again. Then they said that I sent the wrong document and that I should call my insurance company to just send it directly. (NOW KEEP IN MIND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO SEND ME MY PLATES WITH OUT THIS SAID DOCUMENT) So I have my insurance company fax the document directly to them, and they say they haven't received it. SO I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY AGAIN AND HAVE THEM REPEAT THE FAX NUMBER BACK TO ME VERBATIM and they sent it again. I get a text saying "sorry we still haven't received your document our fax machine is old, and broken." Uhm. What?? So then I email the document to them, and they say it's okay and that they got the email and I should receive my plates by Friday. Then the day before my trip permit expires they inform me they haven't even sent me my plates and now they need a copy of my orders stating that I am stationed in the state of Washington. I'm telling you these people are completely incapable of doing their jobs. So here I am, with my brand new car that I won't even be able to drive to work the next day because the permit is expired. I had to go and buy another permit and I'm just waiting to see what these guys will do on their end. Terrible service. Zero stars if I could. Thanks for taking over two thousand dollars from me in "sales tax" even though Oregon is my home of record and I bought the car in Oregon. read more

Was in the area and got a service done on my car. When they were finished the mechanic told me I had a nail stuck in my front tire and would fix the hole (of course for a small fee). He also told me about some filter to have changed for another small fee. I agreed to it and went on my marry way. Later that evening, while having my car parked at a friends house, I returned to my car to find a FLAT tire! I called the Nissan-Subaru people to see what they would do about it. They transferred me to a sales clerk to TRY TO SELL ME A NEW CAR!. NO! I like my car, but not with a flat tire after they had "fixed" it. It was interesting that I went into the dealership with four functioning tires and left with three. After much arguing with the mechanic and the manager about why and how my tired became flat and why it was not fixed properly, they agreed to fix it again the next day. They also agreed to give me a coupon for a free oil change (since they had insisted that their oil change services only take 20 minutes, but in reality it always takes 45 mins. They claim that if its not finished in 20 min. then its free...this was news to me as I have always waited 45 minutes. The manager stated that they have had problems in the past with their service department and were trying to change it. He would give me the coupon for a free oil change to rectify the situation. They finally did re-fix my tire. The mechanic insisted that it was taken care of and double checked (why this was not done in the first place, I am not sure). They dropped off my car 2 hours late, so I was stuck at work with out a car. No one was able to answer my questions about when my car was arriving or if the order had gone through to get finished. The office people had no idea about it and the mechanic (who I had spoke to 3 times about it the previous day) forgot who I was. And he forgot that he was re-fixing my tire that HE had not properly fixed or checked. And they never bothered to give me the complimentary oil change. I was too irritated to bother calling the manager again. Needless to say, I will not recommend this place or go there again. read more

Worst Car Sales Experience (with a history of buying 8 cars) Arrived early on a Saturday to purchase a used car, no specifics- just a budget and some basic criteria (lower miles 60K or less, no major accidents, decent condition). Test drove two cars with a price difference of a few thousand dollars... sales guy (1) was nice provided information but once we sat down and refused to accept $1000 less then fair market fair for our trade in opted out and sent in sales guy (2)- who loudly remarked on the floor, "I am going to go in and be aggressive"- in clear ear shot and apparently unaware of how loud he spoke. Sales guy 2 was indeed aggressive, rude and short- tried to grossly misrepresent the situation, drawing lots of circles, arrows and making swinging hand gesters - he reminded me of the Family Guys sales guy/con-artist. When discussing KBB value remarked, "its just a website" so when we countered with other similar sites he responded with "KBB is the gold standard". Then this was followed with the annoying go back and forth with the "man behind the curtain" Wizard of Oz crap. I walked up to "the man behind the curtain" who explained his position "of bleeding" on this car sale that was returned after 133 miles, now with 743 miles "because they didn't like the interior" (this apparently happens frequently enough at this dealership as it we heard of 3 cars with the same story). I left without a car over the difference of $1500- because there "is no negotiating" on used Subaru prices in the "Pacific Northwest...these cars sell themselves". I spent some time at some other dealerships and was happy to purchase a great used car across the street, where I got fair market price for my car and we paid KBB retail price for a used car. 24 hours later Sales Guy (2) calls to see if I have purchased a car yet- I told him I had and he says, "I figured". Having recently relocated to the Gresham area, purchasing a home and intending to stay for no less then 30 years and probably another 10 cars. I will likely never purchase a vehicle here after this experience. read more

This is a smaller dealership, but there is a better selection than Wentworth. It's also the place where salesmen stand outside and pounce on you the second you crack your car door in the parking lot. The good thing is that they have a great coffee machine that gives your whatever specialty drink you want for free and a snack bar with good snacks and fruit just sitting out for anyone to gorge on. Those are good perks that other dealerships need to learn from. Definitely helps. We weren't able to make a deal on the car we wanted, but that's because it wasn't what we came in to accomplish, not because they didn't try. Anyway, I ask you this: Is there really any dealership worth 5 stars? Even if you have a successful purchase? Really? Methinks not. Be careful when offered a warranty by this dealer. I bought the warranty which covers tires. Well, I am on vacation and have a tire problem. I had to take my car to the closest Subaru dealer. The dealer in Bend said the warranty I have is not through Subaru. When I called Gresham they said I have to bring the car to Gresham for any warranty work. You never know when you are going to have a tire problem so why buy a warranty that is dealership specific? Now I need to find out if the rest of the warranty coverage is also dealership specific. I have bought three cars through this dealer. I was previously happy because I haven't ever had to use the warranty before. Now I regret my decision. read more

I purchased a new 2015 Subaru Forester here, came back and had them install a trailer hitch, the guy named Bryan quoted me $198, after 2 hours of wait he comes and says they need to drill more and it involves extra labor and says it will cost an extra $60, so at this point am I to say no and go home with half assed job? I said to go ahead and finish the job, so after an hour or so I got my car and left. I just had some time and inspected the car, they charged me for extra work but they did not do the work, I'm guessing the extra $60 was for the time it would cost them to cut or drill 1 inch holes onto the muffler heat shield, they left out the heat shield completely, so I am missing a part and they charged me $60 for no apparent reason. Other than that the receiver hitch made by Curt fits like a glove, so my heat shield was removed and I was charged $60 extra for what extra drilling or cutting? All of the 6 bolts are in the stock holes that comes with all 2015 Subaru Foresters pre drilled for the hitch. I changed oil myself for good reason, I don't think I will be trusting this dealership with anything, and to all other unsuspecting customers be wary of their tactics, they were trying to up sell things to other customers while I was waiting which seemed like stuff they did not need. read more

I wish the staff the best of luck remedying the culture of incompetence rampant at Gresham Subaru. I had a very poor overall experience at Gresham Subaru. I spoke with four different members of the sales staff in the past 24 hours and was let down by all. I will actively NOT recommend the Gresham Subaru based on the very poor communication, very poor leadership and astounding lack of follow through within the sales staff. Staff consistently promised things they did not follow up on and did not talk to each other regarding recent communication. When faced with these failures, staff could not provide a solution. They traded me out for a used vehicle (because it was clearly their fault) and said it was the same value as the truck. We were visiting from Seattle and staying in Mt. Hood for the weekend. I noticed that our brake pads were gone on the way down to Portland on a Friday night. We decided to still enjoy the weekend and try to get them fixed on Sunday. We called around and they offered to get us in ASAP! They even asked an employee who had the day off to help us out. I'd have to say, I'm more than pleased with the way the process for leasing our new car went. First off, I want to give a shout-out to Dave, Sam (Wasam), and Patrick. These guys gave us A+, 5 star, exceptional service. I can't say enough good things about these gentlemen. They explained every part of the process in very great detail, and I really appreciate them being as transparent as they were. I never felt like I was being pressured into doing a single thing. In fact, I was steered away from spending more money at times, which felt absolutely refreshing. Subaru offered us more on our trade-in than Honda and Toyota, which considering we drove a Rav4 was a little odd that Toyota didn't step it up. Their pricing was EXCEEDINGLY reasonable. In fact, for a fully-loaded Forester, I was quite surprised how much the lease price is (it was $25 per-month less than what I had budgeted). If you're looking for a laid-back, informative, genuinely nice group of people, I'd head over to Gresham Subaru. I haven't dealt with their service department, yet, but from what I saw yesterday, there wasn't a DMV-like line over miserable looking people waiting around for their name to be called. Friendly, helpful staff - especially when you tell them you're thinking about buying a Subaru! Sales experience was great, I bought a Forester Lin late December 2018 to replace my old car. We're also planning to purchase my husband's new Subaru there in the future. Just this Monday, March 11. 2019 I brought the car in for a scheduled appointment to get the Luxe Care package added - basically a protective coating for the body of the car. The service department was awesome and did a terrific job and my husband and I thought everything looked great when we picked it up. The salesperson who sold me the car and his manager also greeted us and thanked us for coming back, etc. I went to the finance office with the sales manager to pay for the Luxe Care package and when finished he presented me with a clear copy of the paper work for their records and a blurry copy for my records! Really? I'm the customer who just bought a $35,000 car and you're satisfied with sending me home with a blurry copy of my paper work? A little unprofessional don't you think? So I asked him to make us s clear copy and he happily did so. Should I have to ASK for a clear copy in the first place? I think not. But wait, there's more to this story! So we drove home on side streets through Portland with no incident. I pull into the driveway and I'm horrified to see that there is now a HUGE CRACK in my windshield that was not there or should I say we didn't notice at the dealership! I'm very upset as I've only had my brand new car less than 3 months and feel that this should not happen on s BRAND NEW CAR that has a superior safety rating! Shouldn't the windshield be a bit stronger than this?? I showed my husband the crack and he advised me to call the dealership and talk to the manager, Nicholas, and see what he says. So I called and asked for Nicholas the manager. Nicholas was very nice about the whole thing, and said, "I understand how upsetting this can be Mary. I'm on your side. Tell you what, bring the car in tomorrow and I'll take a look at it. I'm on your side Mary." So since my husband was off the next day I asked him to take the car to the dealership for me to let Nicholas look at it. My husband brought it in to Service, they looked at it and told him that there were 2 micro chips which they pointed out and that it was probably from s rock hitting the windshield and that we should call our insurance company about getting the windshield replaced. Was Nicholas there when my husband brought the car back in? No, not until noon so I asked him to return to the dealership to see Nicholas. So my husband went back and Nicholas told him the same thing that Service told him - there are 2 micro chips, blah blah blah. Nicholas even left me a voicemail saying that the Service guys know more about this than he does and that regardless of whether we talked to him or not that the answer would be the same. By the way, I'm saving that voicemail Nicholas! He specifically told me the day before that he's "on my side" and to "bring it in so I can look at it." I guess it doesn't matter WHO looks at it because I now have to pay my insurance a $500 deductible to get the windshield replaced! I've had to get windshields replaced several time on other cars and I'm not looking forward to the ordeal involved. Most importantly I need the job done right bug can I TRUST Subaru to do it correctly and not have any future problems? I really want to like this dealership but I'm not so sure now given my brief experience with them. read more

We started our interactions with Adam Jackson through the internet site. He got back to us within 30minutes of the initial customer service chat. He was prompt to the appointment made for the next day and the entire process went well from that point to conclusion. We were "dumping" a brand new Honda Accord Hybrid (2015), we bought in October 14. Think we might have gotten a better trade in value, but we understood when we went in that this "mistake" was going to cost us. It was back to Subaru and we were going to make a purchase even if this was a "car dealership" process. That said Adam was extremely knowledgable about what cars were on the lot, and ready to take all the time we needed to choose exactly the car we needed. Adam Jackson is the first salesman we have ever encountered that clearly explained differences in models, how the technology works and the different options between models. Once we decided on "the car" and the absurdly long paperwork process was completed (Car sales, in general remains in the dark ages when it comes to processing paperwork.) To be fair we did ask a lot of questions re: the lease papers, but the manager came in and explained them clearly, answered our questions. Adam had the car washed, tank filled and then walked us through the entire car inside and out, answering questions, clear complete explanation for all of the buttons, fuses, and technology before we left the lot, I had to read the books front to back with the Honda to figure out how to use a lot of the technology just to program the radio and phones, not so with Adam's approach. That was all covered and completed before we left the lot. This was the most thorough and pleasant experience we have had since our son sold us our first Subaru in 1998. Since it had only been three months since our last experience which was lukewarm at it's best our comparisons are pretty fresh in our minds. It almost makes me want to buy another car from him. The dealership was warm, clean and the coffee was great. We are sold and will go back when/ if we are in the market for another car and will as well highly recommend Gresham Subaru and Adam Jackson to our family and friends. read more

UPDATE: We have made multiple more big item purchases, and Gresham Subaru delivered yet again. Personalized service is what keeps us coming back! To be fair, I read ALL of the other reviews on yelp. I was pretty surprised to hear most of the stuff that was said, however, I have yet to deal with the service team, or anyone else besides Ivan Reese (internet Sales Manager). We recently purchased a 2015 Outback 3.6R. I found the information online, did my research as far as price goes, and got ready to buy on Friday morning. We were in and out of the dealership within 2 hours. I had a trade + $7000 down, so half of the vehicle price was already accounted for. He got a good interest rate from the Subaru bank, and we were happily on our marry way. We only dealt with 1 (ONE) person through out the whole experience which was really nice, not having to do the back and forth like everyone else seemed to. The Subaru we got is AHH-Mazing! We love the car, we really loved working with Ivan and are pretty happy over the purchase price and the whole process. I would definitely recommend Ivan (not Gresham Subaru all together) to be your sales guys. He will make it all work out. Two years ago I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee from Gresham Subaru and I love it! I got a great price and the whole thing went off without a hitch. I have been returning to Gresham Subaru for all service work since then and even though they do not sell new Jeeps they are able to service and repair it cheaper and quicker than most places I have shopped. When I was in an accident about a year ago I had it towed there and when I showed up the next morning they already had a rental car for me to drive handled everything with the insurance company, and got me back on the road in my Jeep in under 2 weeks. Everybody from Ivan, Bryan, and Jim in the body shop have been great and always exceed my expectations! I will go nowhere else! They make me feel like family! read more

Beaware of Gresham Subaru Service Dept. They do not check their work upon completion. Had my car in 4 times. Over course of 1.5 years to repair windshield wiper fluid washer. This last time they had car for 3 days claimed they did all sorts of cleaning and replaced motor still did not work. Checked it and they had not replaced washer fluid. Filled it and still did not work What if it had been brake or transmission fluid? Could have resulted in serious wreck. Do not trust them. Check everything yourself as much as possible Be careful! read more

As a 40-something year old, 5ft tall , female I can tell you that I've experienced my share of being spoken to in a patronizing and condescending manner. I can tell you with great relief that this was not the case when I purchased my CrossTrek at Gresham Subaru. They were busy, but I did not feel uncomfortable or that I was being taken advantage of considering my disdain of big purchases. Luckily, I had a Costco membership so that pricing minimized any stress about what the fairest price was on a new car- Nicholas (Jr.) was able to offer me the exact model/color I wanted minus any extraneous fees (they had to bring it in from another dealer), or bullying tactics. I felt that Eric and Nicholas were very straightforward and transparent in with their communication. Whether a person is under pressure to sell or not is not my problem, as long as our exchanges were mutually respectful. David, while still a salesman, was actually a nice guy and showed me the ins and outs of the car. I wasn't there for a group hug and I suspect that these guys interact with a lot of frustrated people, so not crossing my arms and growling was a good way to start our deal. I did my research with Edmunds, CNET, MotorTown, KBB, etc, discussed the purchase/price over the phone (!) and was met with a price sheet at at the exact terms when I showed up at the dealer. If it helps, I received two prices sheets two months apart from a different dealer in town... This is the only place I would go to purchase a car. It feels so good to trust the person you are doing business with and not worry about being taken advantage of. Solid service from Gresham Subaru for the 6k oil change etc.. Had it done in 35 minutes including a tire rotation at a very fair price. Also took a test drive in an Outback thru some very nice countryside. read more

I can't say the service is bad because I have never received the scheduled service. I made an appt for a recall on the a/c system. I drove 100 miles to Gresham subaru only to receive a text that the machine was not working. OK, life happens. I called & tried to reschedule. Drew said he would call me back. No call back so I called a week or so later. Drew said the first appt was a couple of weeks out. I repeated the information to him & made the appt. I again drove 100 miles to the dealership only to be told they couldn't find the appt. They said they would try to schedule later in the week. I said I wasn't driving back again. The guy said I could sit & wait a few hours & 'maybe' they could work me in that day. No managers were 'on-site'. No thanks Gresham subaru! I was looking for a service provider when I called you. I will be going elsewhere & my next vehicle purchase will not be with you. read more
