Tiffany at Gresham Subaru made buying a car a pleasure and Brent the finance guy was the lowest pressure nicest finance guy I've dealt with in buying a car. I had an idea of what price I wanted to pay and I was calling around to all the dealers in my area (Portland). I knew exactly what color and trim Subaru I wanted. Gresham was a little out of the way, but when I spoke to Tiffany to ask for her email to send a request for a bid she said she could quote me a price right then. Her price was right in the ballpark of what I thought would be fair (after doing a lot of research) and she said she could get the car in a day or two. I sent out emails to all the dealers on my list asking if they would beat her price (about five or six). Immediately I started getting replies saying that I should buy the car from her. Most dealers were a month or two out from the car with my color and trim and were way higher in price. So I called Tiffany and said, let's do it. We confirmed the out-the-door price we had agreed upon and she went to work getting the car. That night I got a bid from a dealer closer in that was a little bit cheaper and I called Tiffany to see how far she was in the process. It turns out she had already paid a driver to get my car. Since the difference wasn't that much I went ahead and let her know the deal was still on. I was glad I did. We arranged for a time for me to pick up the car the next day. My wife and I drove out to Gresham and at the appointed time met with Tiffany who had the car ready. We took it out for a test drive and Tiffany spent about an hour or so going over all the important features of the car (an Outback). She was very upbeat, clear, and thorough. She then passed us to Brent, the finance guy. Brent was very low key and professional. He didn't push anything on us and worked hard to make the paying for the car as fast and easy as possible. The price was exactly what had been agreed on and there were no surprises. I highly recommend Gresham Subaru and TIffany (who has been there about four years). She'll give you a fair price and will handle the transaction with speed, honesty, and professionalism. For a car buying experience this was definitely five stars all the way! read more

To be fair, my 2011 Subaru Outback is a lemon, and that is not the fault of Gresham Subaru. I did not even buy it there, but they have ended up dealing with all the dealer requiring issues. The bad guy is Subaru itself; Subaru really should recall the 2010-2012 manual transmission Outbacks. This 6 speed transmission has caused problems since I first got the car: very stiff shifting when cold, no coverage of the linkage so that sticks got stuck in the linkage twice, rendering it stuck in once in second, once in fourth gear, cable breaking at 40,000 miles, clutch going at 50,000 miles. And if you have ever tried driving miles at night on the freeway in second gear, or starting from a full stop on a hill in fourth, you know the sticks in the transmission were not minor problems. When they told me I needed a clutch at 50,000 I went to my regular Subie mechanic in disbelief. He agreed, said it was probably due to the prior transmission problems, and said their estimate was too high compared to other dealers. I was so fed up at this point, I went back to Gresham Subaru and told them the car needed to be recalled and replaced. They checked their price for the clutch, and said they had misquoted the labor, and corrected it so that their price matched the other dealers. Then they called Subaru. Between Subaru and the Gresham dealership, they reduced the cost of the clutch by half. But, no surprise, they did not replace the car. They admitted that Subaru was no longer going to make a manual transmission for the Outback starting 2015, but did not admit it is because this transmission has problems. I believe this poorly designed transmission will cause other problems that result in more repairs and engine issues and more expense down the line. Because of the all this, I bought the extended warranty. I bought the only one they offered, which I thought was the basic one, but it turned out to be the gold-plated premium. This covers tires. I had already had one unfixable flat (NOT sidewall) and had to buy a shaved down new tire. I got another unfixable flat (not sidewall) driving down my unpaved drive, and found it still cost $112 to replace this 80,000 mile tire, two down by 50,000 miles. This week, #3 unfixable tire. I bought 4 new tires--- makes 6 new tires by 50,000miles. No help from the Subaru warranty. Continental has no warranty for the original tires but does for the new tires--- the last of these 80,000 mile tires lasted for less than 2,000 miles. However, Continental said the warranty was voided by shaving down the tires to match the remaining two. Figures. My conclusion is that the 2010-2014 Subaru Outback is no longer the off-road 4 wheel drive car I loved in rain and snow and ice and mud for over 10 years. The manual transmission is not appropriate for off road if sticks can get stuck in it--- what if I had gotten stuck in 2nd or 4th on Mt Hood in snow and ice? So, I guess I will give up on Subaru for my next vehicle. Advice, anyone? read more

I agree with the other one star reviews after my experience today. My trusted Subaru died this weekend and the engine was damaged. So sadly I had to look for a new car during this pandemic with financial constraints. I called ahead and told Beshara, the sales person what I wanted and I would be there at 2pm. When I arrived, he was not prepared. Kept asking me what kind of car I wanted. One of the car I looked at didn't start...bad sign. Then when I finally decided on a used Subaru that I wanted and tried negotiating the price while price checking with a friend over the phone, Beshara got aggressive. He discredited my research on other similar model prices at other local dealerships and argued about my sources. I showed him the website and the price and he had the audacity to say the car pictured at a different dealership was damaged. The picture had a glare and I don't know any well known local dealership would have a damaged picture of a car on a their website. He kept on repeating the work "premium" and precertified" without really explain what it means or how it affects the price. He grew impatient and interrupted me several times whileI was on the phone with my friend who was doing a search online to make sure I'm not being over charged or tricked. Communication from the salesman was poor and no clear explanation on the pricing or why it is higher than other dealerships. My mistake was I went alone and unfortunately, being a woman was a disadvantage. It may have been the sales person's cultural background but there were numerous hints of disrespect towards me as a female. The tone he spoke to me was patronizing and condescending. After I declined the offer, I marched over to the managers office in tears. I told him how disappointed I was with the customer service and I am extremely unhappy with the way I was treated. He did apologize for his salesman's actions and was able explain the reason behind the pricing in a kind reasonable manner. If it was presented in that manner, I may have purchased the car. The worse part is,I had to wait for my ride to pick me up because I was on my own with no transportation. I'm still scarred from the experience and no car...I hope my experience in Beaverton will be better tomorrow. I was hesitant giving a star but I did appreciate the manager being professional and making some attempt. So the star is for him. read more

My husband and I are so happy!! We have went to several different Subaru dealerships in the Portland Metro region in the past couple of weeks (Carr, Lithia, Dick Hannah, etc.) some were decent experiences, and some were not pleasant at all. However, Gresham Subaru was amazing! It was so refreshing to go in to the lot see the cars that they advertised on the internet and within a few hours walk home with the car we intended to buy, for the price we intended to pay. Plus we received 0% financing which is amazing! And, in addition to that Gresham Subaru will give us free tires for life (assuming we keep up-to-date with O&F changes, etc.) I feel lucky to have Khalil as our sales consultant. He treated us really well from beginning to end. After the deal was made he even spent time with us hooking up our phones to the blue tooth in the car. I am Super sad about this whole experience!! My best friend and I came in looking for a new Subaru. The salesman was nice and even though he was new at Subaru, he made sure he got his facts correct on what the vehicle comes standard with. We test drove one and told him we had other cars we were looking at and would check back in. A week later, we came back, as my friend had an approval on a car loan with her own bank, with good interest, because of her excellent credit!! This time, the guy that helped us a week before, was busy with another customer and appointed another sales person to help us. We were kind of disappointed, as we didn't want to start all over with what we wanted and what we were looking at, but we went through it again. We wanted to test drive the same model but with less features, just to compare prices and to be sure we were making the right decision. He kept getting confused with the different models and kept bringing out the wrong keys as we were standing outside in the pouring rain. When we came back from test driving, He sat us down and we went over prices and differences between the 2 cars we were looking at. He told us a deal that he could give us and we asked for a better deal, which usually is normal and you do the "back and fourth" dance! My friend came up with a number and the salesman said he would ask the manger, but before that he tried to talk us into a basic model that we already had said no to. Then he wanted my friend to initial and sign by a price, he would not let her nor I read what she was initialing, as you can clearly see a paragraph above, but to far to read, so my friend declined to initial. Red flags started flying everywhere. That was a feeling we got!! The atmosphere had changed. The salesman acted like he was just done with us and not his cheery self. Even the look on his face changed, as did his body language .He left to ask the manager what he could do. Not even exaggerating, it literally took the salesmen 1 minute to come back to us at his office. It's like he looped around and came back around. He said the manager said no. He didn't and wouldn't even try to offer another amount. Usually, at dealerships, you find a happy medium. It was the weirdest experience I have ever witnessed at dealership!! I have since read a few reviews at this location with similar experiences. Management is terrible. I would avoid this Subaru GRESHAM location. read more

I went to Gresham Subaru to look at a used car and trade my car in. Nothing at all wrong with my car, in fact, it is a very clean car and could easily be detailed and put on the lot as it has no mechanical issues and low miles. I just simply wanted something different. After test driving the car I was interested in, which was on sale, I told the salesman I was interested in purchasing it if the numbers worked out. The salesman passed me off to a second salesman who started the paperwork. He took my info and had another person evaluate my trade. Keep in mind my trade is a very nice car with no issues. It is only 3 years old. When he came back from evaluating my trade he gave me an offer of HALF of kbb trade in value for my car, wanted me to put an additional $5,000 in cash down and would not budge one dollar on the price of their used car. I laughed at him and told him I wanted double what he offered for my trade and I would be putting no money down. I also said I wanted some additional money taken off the purchase price of their car. He gave me a sob story about how they were already selling the car at a loss and his boss would be mad if they took any more money off the price of their car. I couldn't believe how badly they were trying to rip me off. If I was an uninformed car buyer who agreed to taking half of what kbb suggested for my car they would have made approximately $7,000 on my trade. In my opinion it was insulting to get an offer of half of what the car is worth for trade in value. It was also unethical. I will not shop at Gresham Subaru and I will tell all my friends to steer clear as well. It was a poor experience coming from a person who has bought my fair share of cars from respectable and ethical car dealerships. read more

Friendly service people/cashier. Quick service! Less than 30 min for my oil change. I wasn't pushed to do any extra services. I just wish they had toys for the kids to play with. Offensive, Shady, Bait-and-switch, Disrespectful. These guys don't have much going for them. After shopping around, and going to this dealership to look the day before I was pretty confident in a 2014 TDI Golf (the recently recalled one) they had on the pre-owned lot. I had found it online listed by them for $16.5k. Not bad, and I was comfortable paying even the advertised price, what I wanted was it with tax title and license included. A difference of a few hundred dollars to what was advertised on a still warrantied car. The young salesman from the day before was nowhere to be found, and I was paired with an older guy who reeked of cigarettes. After the test drive I let him know I was interested in buying today. Looking at the car a few pieces of the interior were broken, and the car was covered in a layer of ash from the recent fires... inside and out. I noted when I was driving the slight water marks on in interior, and I suspected they were from where the windshield met the front of the car as it looked like a seal was missing... this is where things got... weird. The salesmen had my friend who was joining me slam the door, while he put his ear up to where I thought the seal should be on top of the car. He had her so it 3 times. "Nope! No air coming through there! Nothing!" The next bit of weird... he laughed to himself and said "I've got a test I do on all cars. It's a good one." He hit with his palm cupped the door of the TDI, so it made a low noise. "See that? See?" Then he hit the door of a 2018 Subaru Outback next to it with his hand flat, to make a high noise. He returned to the TDI and said "THIS! This is a good car!" Because the noise a car door makes when you hit it tells all... The salesman led us into an office to talk negotiations. Before he even got to the price of the car he asked to have me fill out an auto loan application. I declined, my financing was all figured out and I had the letter in hand... and the print out of the car listed for $16.5k on their website. He went back and said they just wanted to run the numbers to see if they could get me a better deal on financing than what I had. Fine, I filled out the few sections that were necessary for this soft hit. He came back in with a form to sign, $21k for the car and a few thousand in add-ons. I declined the add ons, and he had worked out monthly payments. Asked me to sign at the bottom. I said no, that wasn't the advertised price of the car. He went back to the finance guy, and returned with the same price for the car but a longer term loan. I again told him, that wasn't the advertised price of the car. He had the finance guy come in to tell me they couldn't find my offer for the car online, that I'd have to use their financing. I said that was impossible. Both left, and sat for awhile gabbing at the desk before coming back, no mention of the financing offer, somehow it was found, and saying "Okay hun, we've got a sale on that car for $18k right now. You're hurtin' me but I can do that." Do not. Call a woman "hun" when she's buying a car from you if you actually want to sell it. I said no. The price of the car online is $16.5k. After a few more back and forth a with shady math and trying to get the loan longer... I handed him my financing offer, and said that's what I would pay - $16.5k with tax title and license included, and I wanted the car cleaned. (It still had a layer of ash.) He said they don't clean used cars, but he'd see what he could do. He asked me to sign the offer I was handing him, that if he could match that I'd buy. The salesman came back and said "Okay **kiddo**. You're really hurting me here. I can do $16.5k on the car (the advertised price) plus tax and license. Only with our financing. Can't go any lower. Can't do anything else." He showed me some arbitrary numbers about he was losing money, and just said it's "how math works." I stood up, after hours of this, and walked out. Had the price been non negotiable that's a conversation, but to go down after hours to the advertised price and act like it was a win for me? And to call me kiddo when I'm about to spend thousands of dollars was offensive, not the way to make a sale. Bought a 2016 Golf SportWagen a few days later, ironically from another Subaru dealership. Not sorry that Gresham Subaru didn't get my business. Word the wise - If you're set on using them don't give them any of your information until you're set on a price for the car. That wasn't a soft hit to my credit and I got a letter in the mail a few weeks later regarding an auto loan I applied for there... I didn't. read more

This was my first dealership buying experience and it was just what I wanted. The saleman Dave was awesome. My significant other and I pulled into the lot and he approached our car; he obviously could sense my hesitation and assured us he was only there to show us around and answer questions. Also, he let us know that if at any point we felt pressured or uneasy, we could turn around and walk away. He asked what I was interested in; I mentioned a Kia I had seen posted on CraigsList. OF COURSE it had sold the day before, but Dave showed us a couple of Subarus.. I fell in love with the Crosstrek right away. We took it on a test drive and knew this was the car I wanted, but didn't know if I was ready to take the next step. Dave gave us all the time we needed, said he could make any phone calls we needed to or research online. After we finally decided to go through with the process, we explained we had an application in process with my credit union. We told him the rate we wanted, what payment worked for us, and that we didn't want a down payment. Also, I told him I do not want my application being submitted to everyone because I have good credit and don't want all the inquiries. When my credit union came back with a ridiculous counteroffer, Dave got everything we wanted through Subaru (which is done through Chase). At this point, Dave passed us off to Eric for the numbers and contract signing. Eric explained everything we had questions about (although I work in finance and knew what was going on) and answered all the questions about the warranty we were getting. Dave and Eric made this experience awesome. A week after the purchase, we received a package of roasted almonds in the mail thanking us for our purchase. Who even does that!? lol It was cool! Then, I came in a couple weeks after the initial purchase with my DEQ slip and to get a new trip permit since mine was expiring. I was expecting to walk in, hand over the slip, and walk out with a new trip permit. Nope. Dave came outside and put our new permit on the car. I've gotten a follow up automated calling asking if everything was okay and have gotten an email to come in for a "pit stop", which the service center will look over our car FOR FREE, wash it, answer any questions we have, AND give us a Starbucks gift card to say thanks for our purchase. I've already recommended Gresham Subaru to people and will most definitely be back in the future when we need another car. Thank you guys for amazing customer service! read more

Went in for my free oil change as part of a package when I purchased my Subaru in 2015, mid oil change the salesmen tells me whoever rotated the tires last stripped the lug and it would all need replacing for a fee of $90, I had my infant son with me - the salesman saw my expression like bs and then guilt tripped me by saying "well if you don't replace it and pay the $90 i will just put the broken one back on but it could cause your wheel to fall off at some point" of course any mother driving her small child around wouldn't leave it broken lug nut on there. I consulted the previous dealer Subaru of Bend and they told it was bs, no way would a stripped lug nut have last 10k miles, and Gresham Subaru was at fault. The manager from Bend called and got me a full refund!! Don't trust these sleaze bags at Gresham Subaru! I also had a package for maintenance and they charged me without looking at my package read more

I never expect a pleasant or cost saving experience when buying a new a car, yet that is what we had when we came in to Gresham Subaru. Our salesperson, Mark, was very knowledgeable, patient, and fair. We spent all day there, because if you're going to drop money on a new car you want to be sure. Their location is perfect for test rides and we took many. My wife wanted the sporty, and expensive turbo forester, but after a lot of deliberation my wife decided to go with affordable, fuel efficient, safe, and stylish impreza. We got a fair deal on our trade-in and great price on a certified used 2014 impreza with 3,000 miles, a seven year power-train 100,000 warranty, and free crossbars that Mark personally delivered to our house. It's rare that you leave car dealership with something you needed rather than what your wife wanted :), but it happened to us. Our budget is very happy and our new ride is comfortable, efficient, and very safe! Our next car will be bought here. read more

Made an appt on-line for 4 new tires days ago. Got to my 9 am appt promptly. At 10:30 the service rep comes out and tells me that they haven't started on my car because the tech didn't tell her he brought it in...? My car has been sitting in front of the service desk for an hour and a half. The service reps didn't see it and wonder why it's been sitting there for so long? She said they wouldn't charge me today. What does that mean? Free labor? She said it would be finished in an hour. It's after 11 now. Still waiting.... Finally! They did knock a $100 off. That's cool. So this is Monday, and my appt was Sat. Subaru sent me a survey about my service. So I was honest and filled it out. Today, I get a call from Gresham Subaru, they left a message for me to call back. So I called, and I think I talked to the manager, or at least the service manager. He said he wanted to make this right and asked what he could do. I said I was happy with the $100 dollars, that he didn't have to do that. I told him I was only going to be in OR for 2 more weeks. So he offered to detail my car. I asked if I could get my oil changed, but I wasn't looking for free stuff. Then he said they were going to change my oil, detail my car, and give me a car to drive for the day!! Sounds very nice! Above and beyond what he needed to do. I'll let you know what happens after my appt on Saturday. So I took my car in for a detail and oil change. I was given a car to drive for the day, a brand new Crosstrek, with a full tank of gas! It was really a nice little car. I brought the car back at 4:30. My car was outside and ready to go! It looked beautiful! They got all the bug spots on the front that I couldn't get rid of. I did not clean out my glovebox or the console. When I got my car back all the contents were in a box! They cleaned that too!! It was like a brand new car. I have not looked under the hood to see if they cleaned that. My friend went to get in on the passenger side and about did the splits the floor mat was so slick! My windows were so clean too! It was awesome! When I went to pay for the oil change, that was free too! So awesome! They went above and beyond my expectations! Plus, I told everyone at work and they are going to take their cars there too!/ read more

I have had the best service at Gresham Subaru. From the moment I bought my car, to my car being serviced. Dave (who I purchased my car with) was amazing, he didn't make me feel pressured. This was my first real car purchase and I definitely was nervous. But with daves help and understanding what I'm looking for he made it a very pleasant experience. Now having owned my car since April I've had to take it in a few times with questions and concerns (I have never owned a Subaru). Bryan, Steve and his service team have been amazing! Caring, understanding and a place they actually listen to you no matter how ridiculous you sound trying to explain a noise or something. We had a really bad experience with bad customer service. They quoted us a price then added stuff that made it almost ten thousand more. When we asked what happened they explained that it was a mistake and lowered it, but only to two thousand more than the original price. When we asked for the original price, they refused. We said we didn't want the car then and they asked us to never come back because they said we were a waste of their time. Thanks but no thanks, when asked to pay thousands more than the sticker price, I feel we were being taken advantage of. read more

We dread buying new cars! We hate the pushy sales people and the haggling over monies and options. So I shopped online in hopes of an easier buying experience. I wanted to agree on price before arriving at the dealership. Kanoe Kamala got back to me quickly with a great price on the 18 Outback I was interested in! She kept in touch with us online and on the phone until we could finally make it in for a test drive. I never felt she was pushy or overbearing and liked her before even meeting her. We made an appointment and she was waiting for us, even though we we late! We were made comfortable and the office is very hospitable with coffees, teas and snacks readily available to help yourself. Our car was brought up in front for the test drive. She explained the many options and operations of all things and made the test drive fun and a great orientation to our new car! She was so lively and fun, yet professional and knowledgeable. We drove home a new 2018 Subaru Outback and we couldn't be more pleased with how we were treated and the entire buying experience.
