Great quality service. The edge of my knife was misshapen. I took it to Greg and he reshaped the Edge and polished out all the scratches. It now slices effortlessly. He had repaired my knife same day. I recommend Greg for repair and sharpening services. read more

Greg's Sharpening is the best. We dropped off our kitchen knives to have them sharpened while we ran some errands. They were ready in 20 minutes and are sharper than when new. Highly recommend Greg for all your sharpening needs. The price was amazingly low for the quality of work. I'm never trying to sharpen my own knives again read more

Greg did an amazing job on my kitchen knives! I have two knives from Japan that were pitted and had damage on the blades. They looked brand new when I got them back. He also sharpened two very old sewing scissors that I inherited from my grandmother. I am very excited to be able to use the same scissors my grandmother used. I will pass them to my daughter when the time comes. Greg is the owner and a super nice man. I am very grateful to find his shop. No more dull knives or scissor for me!! read more

Greg did an excellent job with my Cutco knives and the turnaround time on 24 items was only one day.

I take all of my knives and scissors and anything else I can find around my house to be sharpened. I even took a carpet cutter to him!! I take all of my knives to him at least every six months. He is fast and always does a great job. His prices are reasonable and it only took him a couple of hours do some my knives a couple of weeks ago. He also does serrated knives. I have been going to him for quite a few years and am thankful I found him!!!!! I also had a knife with a broken edge. He reshaped the knife and we can use it again l. Yay!! read more

I wish we would have come here sooner. Quick and easy to work with. We had all our knives sharpened as well as our garden sheers. We'll definitely be back. read more

Great service and quick turn around! Love supporting Greg and his small business. Will be using regularly.

It's rare these days to find a true professional and a master of a trade. Greg mixed my retention clips on two pocket knives for free, I decided I needed to pay for something so he sharpened and oiled them for $5 each. His prices are VERY competitive and he is a warm old soul. Get all your sharpening done here! read more

Excellent service! I highly recommend this place. He sharpened my knives in 20 minutes.

Greg is so passionate about perfecting his craft. He's reliable , talented and kind. His prices are also extremely affordable .

I'm happy to add to the long list of 5-star reviews for Greg's shop. I went in today with 4 of my kitchen knives and the service and quality of work is unparalleled. I was able to leave my knives while I had lunch across the street. I got a call halfway through lunch to let me know the knives were ready. You can tell Greg takes pride in his work and I'll be back next time my knives need sharpening. read more

When I've used this business in the past the product was never an issue. GREAT job, fast and reasonably priced. However, I've made the 40 minute roundtrip drive twice only to find a hand written note and a closed shop. Once, Greg was on vacation, and today he had a doctors appointment. I understand you have to take care of yourself boss man, but from a business standpoint, that's weak sauce. From a personal standpoint, he clearly doesn't care about or respect his customers time. I won't be going out of my way to support this clown anymore. read more

Great service, great work and value. Greg is a true craftsman. Old school skills for all sharpening needs. The best!

My kitchen knives were so dull I couldn't cut hardly anything, so I gathered up every knife and took them to Greg's. I walked in with no appointment, no prior phone call, and he sharpened all ten of my knives, including two serated (bread knives) in less than thirty minutes! These aren't fancy, high dollar knives just the ones I've picked up here and there, and he manages to put an incredibly sharp edge on them. He even individually wraps them up after sharpening to ensure safe transport. This is the second time Greg has sharpened my knives, and I'll be back when my knives inevitably dull again. Such fantastic service. Next time I'll bring all my scissors too! read more

Perfect! Wife dropped off knives, went and ran a few more errands and came back and they were done; nice and sharp; better than when they were new! Always a pleasure to support a Veteran owned business! read more

Prompt, friendly, incredibly fair pricing. I even found parking. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Found this gem of a place by a fluke but I love it instantly. First the place is very simple and very mom and pop feel. I walked in with my block set and the gentleman helped me immediately. He was very Nice and took over my block set. Asked what I wanted sharpened and even asked about the sheers inside the block. He did 5 knives and sheers for about $33. Quoted me a time to return and said he'd call or he'd be open till 6. He called right before the given time, maybe about hour and fifteen min later and they were ready. My knives have came back to life and I love how they cut. He also gave me a reward card for coming which I will definitely return because sometimes sharpening my own knives is a pain. read more

I love my knives, machetes and hatchets so every time I need something sharpened I come here. The shop is small with a few knives to sell along with some other items. The last item I brought in was my machete because it was a little dull and to me dull is dangerous. The price was great, service was good so I was happy and I'll be back. read more

Awesome work and communication. I had a handful of knives sharpened like new. One even got a new tip...awesome.

Best service in San Diego area. Worth the trip to La Mesa to get anything or any tool professionally sharpened.

Greg's good at what he does. He has a good turn-around time and just be careful when you get those SHARP KNIVES back home!!

I wish I can give more than 5 star review. This guy is so genuine and experienced. He not only sharpened my knives like new but he also repaired one that has missing tip. Price is so unbelievable. He charged me 26 for 7 knives. Can you imagine!! I paid $10 to sharpen one knife at the farmers market and the job wasn't that good. You should go to Greg's. You will love the experience. Thanks Greg!! read more

Finding shops like this is why I love Yelp. Honest reviews o can count on. Greg is super friendly, fairly priced and gave me great advice on knife care. 11 knives sharpened in 2 hours for $42. I got to shop the La Mesa village and have some coffee whole i waited and he called me exactly when he said he would. I'm a fan! read more

I dropped off my 3 clipper blades for sharpning. He charged $13.50 for each, which is pricier than average for clipper blades sharpning. I went pick them up but no of them were sharp. I called him, and he told me he wanted to redo. He was very confident but 1 of them were dull even after the redo. Other one went dull within 3 days. I made 5 trips to his shop for nothing. He gave me refund but I was disappointed. read more

Fast, friendly and definitely a master of his craft. This is the place to go for anything that needs sharpening.

I recently took my extremely dull, never before been sharpened, kitchen knives to Greg's shop, and they turned out amazing! The price was very reasonable and the service was outstanding. You probably won't realize how dull your knives are until you take them to Greg's. He's a pro that will have them razor sharp & better than new. Quick too, I usually head across the street for a bite and/or beer and wait for the call letting me know they're ready. Overall a great value from a veteran owned business! read more

Affordable, fast and friendly. Very impressed with the service. Loving the use of sharp knives again.

Great experience and nice sharp old scissors! Came in around 3 pm when Greg was sharpening in the back. Hollered so he would know so one was there and he came right out. He looked them over and said their alignment was still good so they could be sharped and tightened. Work like new and extremely affordable. Greg called me the next morning and left a message they were done! Less than 24 hrs! I will DEFINITELY be taking all cutting tools there! read more

I highly recommend this small business man. About the nicest person you will ever meet. Took a small pair of scissors in and I was pleased when he didn't turn down such a small job. So many people nowadays can't be bothered. He said they would be ready the next day and they were. He also sells knives. So if you need a good quality knife this might the place to come. read more

Good job and fast... also knowledgeable about knives and had no problem sharing info. I will return.

brought in my chain saw that was hardly cutting, Greg looked it and just laughed - my idiot neighbor had put the chain on backwards without telling me it had come off he could have changed it and charged me without my knowing how simple it was, but he told me how to re-mount it for free honesty and honor go a long way these days... read more

Great guy, quick turn around, amazing quality service. Dropped off 17 various kitchen knives around 3pm and received a call at noon the following day to let me know they were finished. Pick up was simple and each knife was packaged individually. He even included a pack of bandaids in case they were too sharp ;) read more

Gregs a good guy, great customer service, and very reasonable prices. I give 5 stars for that. When it comes to sharpening my knife, I will say its average to below average. I brought in a couple of knives to get sharpened by greg. They come out slightly sharper than before but not much. I tried basic cutting task and it wasn't much different in cutting. Also I see burn marks on the knives which means its been put on the belt sander with no period of stoppage or cooling down the blade. He doesn't do any reprofiling on knives. I took the same knife to another knife sharpening service that uses a wet belt grinder, whetstone, and reprofile if necessary. It was a night and day difference. They cost a couple of bucks more but was worth it. read more
