I have a thing for Japanese knives, if you know you know. These knives are by far some of the best in the world and as an aspiring home cook and someone who watches way too much Food Network I know that the most dangerous tool in the kitchen is a dull knife, not a sharp one. Because of this I needed a new sharpening service to get me dialed in for Christmas. That prime rib ain't going to cut itself! Here is the thing, everything that you've read about Tio's is absolutely true. The man is extremely friendly, his work is top-shelf, his prices are beyond reasonable, and he works quickly if you have an appointment. I needed four knives sharpened (all Japanese) and it took about 30 minutes or so, mostly because I was talking his ear off and learning about his business and skillset. I've never been so interested in watching someone apply a piece of steel to a wet stone before. Well, watching Tio work is like watching Picasso put brush to canvas. His work is stellar! I figured I'd go to the big box store (not Home Depot as I'm boycotting) but got diverted to Ace because of flooding. Checked them out and figured I'd do a price check by heading to the other place. Lo and behold, Ace was comparable in price and had a better selection. This wasn't the first time I went to Ace either. They beat the price for a garbage disposal by $50 just a week previous. This location is well stocked and has friendly help. They also have a bbq supply place attached that has some cool stuff. I've even bought my stocking stuffers here in the past. I highly, highly recommend this location. Parking is available in the back for those who are afraid of trying to find a spot. Great option for your hardware needs.

One time I took a pair of rusty scissors that were my favorite shears and he was able to not only sharpen them but remove all the rust. Most cuts and gashes happen because of dull knives. Why? Because one has to use more force. Why should you always be upset that your scissors don't cut! Or that your shears for fabric don't make that clean sound when cutting? Anything with an edge on it, this sharpenning master can do it. You can leave your items and he will call you when they are ready. I have literally taken every single knife and scissor to this man. Unless you have a sharpenning block and machine, there is no device that will sharpen your knives as well as this man.

I didn't have an appointment, but was able to drop my knives off, grab a breakfast sandwich a block away, and pickup my knives within an hour. I don't recall the price I paid but it was cash only, and I thought it was very reasonable. There wasn't anything I wasn't happy with. All my knives were sharpened back to how they should be. I will definitely return whenever my knife edges get dull again.

I was in the area and stopped in recently. I love to wander through the store. The displays are beautiful. I could spend a long time just looking at everything. I did spend quite a bit of time on this visit. Only one employee acknowledged me while I was in the store. That was because we were walking towards each other in a small space. The rest of my visit was spent browsing but when I had questions there was no one around. There were staff members at the counter but they were chatting amongst themselves. A few customers came in and out while I was there but it wasn't busy at all. This store is good for looking at and touching physical items, but I will be ordering online. Sad that customer service has declined so much in retail stores.

I think it's important to occasionally shop or stroll through the Costco Business Center to see…read morewhat's available and compare prices. Most are the same prices for everyday items, which I took photos of. I have seen occasional mentions in their catalog or on their website stating that the deal is only available at the Costco Business Center. It's much more convenient if you're stopping in for a few things, but be aware that most shoppers, particularly in the early morning, are buying supplies and groceries for their businesses. While it looks like fewer shoppers are at the registers, they are buying in bulk, so expect a wait. Both customers and employees appear content and cordial. You can also see the regulars know each other and help each other out, which is refreshing. Another thing to be aware of is that it can get very cold in the produce area; lots of customers are wearing extra layers. I couldn't handle how cold it was in the meat section as I was only wearing shorts and a shirt. I do like this location since I haven't seen any fluff sellers trying to explain their service or product. There isn't a fast food station (no hot dogs, chicken bake, pizza slices, rotisserie chicken, chicken wings, or soft serve). I didn't see clothes, books, toys, or flowers either. I don't think they do sample stations either. Removing these individual consumer items helps create a positive experience by reducing congestion in the parking lot and aisles. If you talk to any of the staff, you get a positive experience and even time to banter, which they seem happy to chat without the chaos of long lines and crowded stores. Maybe it was just the timing of my visit, but I still enjoyed the experience here!

We use it for…read morebusiness supplies like trash bags, TP, paper towels, cleaning, etc. Checkout can take a while, if you get a ton of business owners in front of you with a loaded sled of supplies. The worst part is the traffic pattern in the small parking lot. I started parking on the side, so I could come in the side and avoid the backup at the main entrance. I still really miss the food court, though, because it was convenient for lunches if I had to go anyway.

The fashion Valley Mall tho, is my main mall. This is the mall where I actually do most of my shopping. We watch movies at the AMC theater when we have extra time and get food at the cafeteria/food court area after hours of walking. My son never misses going inside the Laderach to get a free taste, the best chocolate there is. We love going to this mall, especially with my son now being a teenager, we would most likely be doing lots of our shopping activities here especially at his favorite boutiques, like the zumies, Hollister, Rayban, and plenty others I do not recall.... We also love going to The escape room where the mall is. My favorite is the Nordstrom Rack! ;) The holidays tho could get really packed and busy but there's alot of nice things to see and lots of good deals to look forward to.

Pros: *Surprisingly easy parking (a rare mall miracle) *Huge mix of stores from bougie to budget - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Hollister, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, H&M, Zara, and Gucci to name a few *Open-air vibe with palm trees; very San Diego aesthetic with a tropical feel; complete with fountains and artistic landscaping *Solid food options with a food court, cafes, and kiosks, Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and my fav, True Food Kitchen *Clean and well-maintained and easy to wander around *There's a lot of variety here to keep you entertained *They have seasonal events that is a nice addition to shopping Cons: *Felt oddly empty for a Sunday..kinda eerie but it may be an introvert paradise *Dangerous for your wallet (you will overspend) *Some stores seem like they're hanging on by a thread *Malls just don't hit like they used to despite the pros- mainly because everything has gone up!
