Our first time at Gregorio's Trattoria in Cabin John found us ordering classic Italian fare. We started with the fried calamari, crisply breaded and tender on the inside. I got the Gamberetti Fra Diavalo, aka shrimp in spicy red sauce over noodles. Delicious! Nicely cooked noodles and plump, tasty shrimp with lumps of crab meat, under a chunky, bright and spicy tomato sauce. Lots of noodles and shrimp, and plenty of remaining sauce to mop up with table bread. A tasty and filling meal, and no room for dessert this time. Had a reservation and came for a family dinner. Plenty of parking on the right of the restaurant (the left is the grocery store parking lot). For apps we ordered calamari and a charcuterie board. They served various types of bread with house marinara sauce. The bread was lovely - just be mindful not to eat too much to not get too full before the food comes! Calamari was battered and fried nicely - not chewy at all. It was served with the same house marinara sauce as the bread basket. Wouldn't get the charcuterie board again for the price. I ordered the lamb chop and asparagus special. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly. My only qualm was that the fat could have been trimmed more. The asparagus came out burnt! I asked for less char and they provided another side free of charge. The clam linguine was VERY buttery. A good portion of clams with NO sand but the dish had a scary amount of butter at the end. The tiramisu was a lot lighter than what I was expecting. Would have preferred a more intense espresso flavor and cocoa powder on top. There was also an interesting addition of cinnamon or nutmeg (warming spice) that I didn't care for. read more

For dinner we had: - Mussels Verdicchio - A shrimp Dish - I forgot the name (Special) - Branzino (Special) Everything was really good. The Branzino, though it had lots of bones, had great flavor. This place is adorable and the atmosphere is what makes it. It was hopping on a Wednesday night, which took me by surprise. They welcome you with a bread basket that comes with the most delicious red dipping sauce. Our meals came out shortly after we ordered. The chicken parmesan is massive and delicious. I was starving but was only able to eat half. Two gentlemen working there, one older and one younger, stopped by our table at different times to check in on us to make sure the meal was meeting our expectations. It's rare that you get that kind of service at restaurants in this area. My friend and I are already talking about coming back to try more. read more

Company event. Strong drinks. Got here at 3p. Left at 5: 30p. The interiors are lovely. Bathroom is nice. Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of Italian so there's that....but I enjoyed the service here. Had some calamari (which was delicious) and lots of buffalo wings. Frankly, I filled up on appetizers so I didn't even order an entree. First... we had 7 people with no reservation. They were accommodating and graceful even though they were busy. We got seated in 19 minutes. The hostess was very nice. The waiter took our drink orders and served our wine with grace. The food was amazing. As we settled in, the owner came up and greeted us with cheer. I've ordered carryout from this location several times. My latest order over the weekend was a major letdown. The calamari was overwhelmingly salty, the penne in vodka sauce was mushy and overcooked, and the chicken francese had a skimpy portion of pasta and soggy breading. To top it off, the dinner portions were noticeably smaller compared to previous orders. One thing I've consistently been underwhelmed by is the breadsticks - they taste like raw flour and just don't hit the spot. Not sure if or when I will be going back. read more

We decided to try Gregorio's instead of the usual Domino's or Papa John's and we were very glad we did! We ordered two XL pepperoni pizzas to go and were blown away by how fresh they tasted. It's very obvious that they make the dough fresh each day. The quality of the ingredients is very obvious compared to chain brands. Another nice aspect of the pizza is that it wasn't dripping with grease (check out the photo I uploaded). We went inside briefly when picking up the pizzas and it looked like a nice atmosphere. We will try dining in next time. Easy 5 out of 5 if you are looking for quality pizza in the Potomac area. read more

Delicious Eggplant Parm and complementary scrumptious garlic knots! The complementary bread basket of soft thin breadsticks and pipping hot garlic knots hit the spot! I had at least 3 knots! The Eggplant Parm was juicy and tender, and a generous portion served with spaghetti. I couldn't contain my gluttony and devoured the Eggplant for lunch! It could have easily doubled over for dinner (I managed to save 1/2 spaghetti for leftovers). The side of sauteed garlic mushrooms was bursting with flavor, highly recommend getting it! Tuesday 10/01/2024 Everything in the previous review remains true for the most part but this (updated) review will be focused solely on my most recent visit. It had been about 6.5 months since the last time I got food from here and this visit was long overdue. I arrived around 6 pm for dine in and the service was solid as always. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken $28, bbq wings $17, French fries $6, and the complimentary bread. The food was the same as I expected: really good but it seems that nearly all the prices went up by at least a dollar. - Bread sticks were great and garlic knots were decent. They're a lot better when you pair it with the mix Parmesan cheese & tomato sauce (you won't be disappointed). - The bbq wings were pretty good but they had a bit more sauce than expected. The wings also went up $2 compared to my last visit. - French fries were very good: nice & crispy. - The fettuccine Alfredo still takes the title as best fettuccine Alfredo I've had and it's not close. While the Alfredo is still great, the pricing has definitely gotten out of hand. The Alfredo is $21 now vs $20 last time and when you add chicken the total goes all the way up to $28 when it was $25 last time. Paying $7 for the amount of chicken they give you is crazy. From now on, I'll just get the pasta by itself and save the $7. All in all, Gregorio's is still one of my favorites that is home to the best Alfredo but damn them prices are getting overly expensive. read more

Ample free parking at Cabin John Center with inside and outside seating and a bar area. The place is outdated and looks the same for the past decade. I've been here a few times through the years and this seems to be a neighborhood place with an older crowd and around 4-5pm the bar starts to fill up as well as for dinner. Only been here for lunch and it's usually empty. Had a late lunch at 3:30pm and service was fine and everything came out quickly. I love free bread, but didn't care for theirs, it was hard and garlic knots were really greasy. The food was also subpar for the price and I'm confused by the 4 star rating. We ordered the Seafood Asparagus (2/5*) and Braised Beef Short Ribs (2/5*). Both plates came out steaming with every fork full but even with the first bite, it was only warm at best. It's odd to see so much steam and not be piping hot, so it didn't seem to be freshly cooked and maybe just warmed up. The Seafood Asparagus lacked flavor and I had to throw in a lot of pepper flakes to make it more palatable. The Braised Beef Short Ribs were tender and a decent flavor, but it also tasted like leftovers from the day before, a slight stale taste. I would have given it a 2.5 star overall, very average, but definitely not a 3 based on the food I've tried on a couple of occasions, so I'm rounding down to a 2 star. I might try a different location, but probably not this one again. read more

I went to dinner here two nights ago with good friends who are regular customers, John and Tricia. My first comment is that I cannot believe I hadn't tried this place before, especially because it's only 10 minutes from my house. I was not disappointed, I enjoyed everything about my experience at Gregorias! From the moment we walked in I immediately felt so welcome. We were first greeted by Del, the manager, and my friends requested that Janet be our server. Per hour request we were seated in a booth and Janet immediately came over and also gave us a warm welcome and took our order for drinks. It wasn't long before the drinks and bread for the table arrived. The specials look so good. I never even got to the main menu. I ordered a glass of Chianti, which was delicious, and we had a bruschetta appetizer which was fantastic. For dinner I had the cappellini with shrimp and scallops in a tomato based sauce. It was my friend John's birthday, so we finished off the evening with Janet bringing over a piece of cake with a candle in it and we all sang happy birthday. I almost forgot to mention that while the atmosphere was lively, the volume was very reasonable, and it was easy to have a conversation... Unlike some restaurants. I really wanted to love this place. They give kiddos free pizza go to play with while you figure out what to order. It's conveniently located, and there's plenty of easy parking. I didn't love the soup. The Caesar salad was ok, but I wish it didn't have random pieces of wilty/brown lettuce in it. The cheese pizza my kiddo ordered was ok. The sauce was underwhelming and understated tho. Sadly, I would not return. read more

I have ordered delicious takeout too many times to count from Gregorio's Trattoria, so I was excited to try the food fresh during my recent visit. I came here on a Wednesday evening with a friend. It was not busy around 5pm and so we were immediately seated upon arrival. The staff grabbed water and complimentary bread for us shortly after being seated. After looking over the menu I decided on the Fettuccine Alfredo which comes with toasted Fettuccine pasta and creamy Alfredo sauce. I added Chicken at an extra charge. The sauce was creamy and the pasta and chicken were cooked to perfection. It was as I anticipated, the food was even more delicious fresh at the restaurant. The portion was large and I had enough to takeout while still being full. Overall, Gregorio Trattoria is a great option for dining out as well as takeout. The restaurant shares a parking lot with multiple retailers in the shopping center, which is pretty packed anytime I have visited. You may have to circle the parking lot a bit to find a spot. Even with the parking situation, I would still make the trip if I was craving pasta and looking for a spot to dine out... and if I didn't feel like parking or driving I can always order takeout :) read more

We met long time/no see friends here for lunch. What a nice, leisurely visit with good friends and good food. Our waiter (Juan) was effective and non- obtrusive. This evening, my aunt, my four-year-old cousin, my 18-month-old son, and I dined at Gregorio's Trattoria in Cabin John Village, Potomac. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and left me feeling both unwelcome and disrespected. We initially sat outside but requested to move indoors after it began to rain. Once settled inside, we were served our entrees. While eating, my toddler accidentally bit into a fry that was too hot, causing him to cry briefly. I quickly calmed him down, and the rest of the meal was smooth. In fact, several customers and staff members interacted kindly with my son, complimenting him and even playing with him. For the majority of the evening, he was calm, playful, and simply laughing at his cousin's silly faces -- nothing disruptive or excessive. Later, the manager stopped by our table, complimented my son, and may have quietly asked my aunt to "keep it down," though nothing was said directly to me as his mother. Regardless, my son was not crying, screaming, or disturbing other diners. He was simply laughing -- as any 18-month-old child does. When we finished eating, our server brought the check without offering a dessert menu, which felt dismissive, especially since we were there to celebrate my aunt's birthday. Eventually, a slice of cake was brought out, which we appreciated. However, the evening took a very upsetting turn when a group of older Caucasian women at another table told me that my son was "too loud" and "shouldn't be in the restaurant." This was deeply offensive, especially because my child had only been laughing softly with his cousin. Their comments were not only unkind but discriminatory in nature. What was most disappointing was the response from the staff. Instead of addressing the inappropriate remarks directed at us, our server told me to leave after I stood up for my child. At no point had management or staff ever indicated that my son was being disruptive -- only these customers. Yet the restaurant chose to side with them. Given the dynamic and the fact that the women were of a different race, I cannot overlook the racial undertones in how this situation was handled. Gregorio's presents itself as a family-friendly restaurant, yet our treatment suggested the opposite. Families with young children deserve to feel welcome and respected while dining out, especially when children are simply laughing at the table. I've dined with my son at finer establishments and have never experienced such hostility or discrimination. This experience was unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I urge management to reflect on how they handle situations involving families and, more importantly, how racial bias may influence their decisions. Every paying customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. read more

I love good Italian food. Not the fake Italian chains like what we see on TV. I have been here a few times and can't believe I haven't reviewed it. I love their pasta, Carbonera. However, this time, it was more goopy and messy . My bacon wasn't crispy but more so chewy. No bueno. I was hoping the waiter would have more attentive to ask but never did. The restaurant got a make-over since the last time I was there. Looks nice. The restaurant looks more open. Bathrooms are clean. Desserts: I got a cannot. I recently ordered catering for an event at my home. The food and service far exceeded my expectations. I have been to the restaurant several times and the food is always delicious. Sometimes when you get catering the quality declines - not in this case. The food was as the same standard if not better than at the restaurant. The price was a bargain too. We had so much food! They provided plates and flatware, and even sterno and chafing dishes at no extra charge. Our delivery person spent at least 20 minutes helping to setup all the food in my home. With regards to the food The lasagna was good, pizza was also good and the seafood pasta was a bit disappointing. The white wine sauce ( which wasn't on menu but they were willing to make for me) could have been reduced and even thickened and even flavored to make this dish good but it wasn't so it was very watery and flavorless. I added salt and pepper to make it edible. The seafood itself was cooked to perfection. There's more to the menu that I didn't get to try so would return to see what their best offering is. read more

Loved the service, food and ambiance. The pictures don't do any justice. Even though it was a busy night the staff was very welcoming and attentive. We couldn't decide between the ravioli rose or the bolognese pasta. Our waiter, William, suggested to get the bolognese sauce on the ravioli and it was the best! I believe it was the owner and the manager who even checked up on us to make sure we're having a great time and enjoying our food. We enjoyed all the items we ordered.
