Our first time at this location and it wasn't great. Decor is simple and plain and that's fine. Service started out good but quickly faded. My hubby and dad shared the arugula salad and it was good, nothing fancy. Bruschetta had a nice presentation and was good too. But dinner was disappointing. I had the salmon rose and my dad had the grilled salmon. Both were prepared the same but mine came with spaghetti with rose sauce on the side...both entrees were pretty tasteless. My mom had the veggie pasta and also said it was tasteless...she had to add salt, pepper and lots of other seasonings. And it was a LOT of carrots! She couldn't taste any garlic, and this is an Italian restaurant! My daughter had the chicken piccata and said it was good, and so did my hubby who had eggplant Parmesan. Nothing special but "good". We ended the meal with mango sorbet which my daughter and parents enjoyed. It took a long to get the check as all the waiters seemed to disappear for quite a while. My hubby finally had to go to the hostess stand to ask for the check. Our waiter finally showed up to bring the check after the CC was run. Overall it was a pricey dinner for mediocre food. The order was placed over the phone to be picked up. The order was ready upon arrival and everything was right. The menu had a lot to choose from which mostly included traditional pizzeria and Italian items. I had an eggplant parmigiana sub ($15.99). This was okay at best. There was not a lot of eggplant, and it was not very crispy. I am not sure if the time from the restaurant to the home made a difference, but it was a little disappointing. The bread was tasty though. I did try the ravioli di Gregorio and the steak and cheese sub. The ravioli had cheese ravioli, sauteed shrimp, and jumbo lump crabmeat tossed in rose sauce. This was a huge dish and very good. The lump crab was fresh and tasty while the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The rose sauce was a nice blend too. The steak and cheese was great too. Had a terrific experience last night for dinner at Park Potomac. Our table ordered the Veal Saltimboca and the Chicken Picatta. We agreed the food was delicious. Our server Brandon took good care of us even as the restaurant filled up. The managers came over several time to check up on us, which I appreciated. I thought the ambiance was nice - simple white tablecloth Italian with a separation between the restaurant and the large bar area. Note that surface parking can be hard in this location but there is a spacious underground parking garage in the back that really works out well at dinner time. read more

Gregorio's replaced Sugo and while both served Italian, it's not quite the same. Gregorio's reminds me of Mag's and M.L.'s in that they're your typical Italian. I really appreciated that they were so kid-friendly and that the waitress offered pizza dough for the kids to play while we ordered and waited for food. There were complimentary breadsticks and garlic knots. I also appreciated that the kids menu was quite extensive and offered a variety of options. Mom and Dad got a calamari appetizer and a braised beef short rib dish to share because we were not particularly hungry that evening. Both were decent. They were very generous with their drinks (I ordered a limoncello martini and he ordered a Chianti). I finally went to Gregorio's in Park Potomac with some friends. We asked for separate checks before ordering and were told they could not do that. They would only divide the check evenly between us without regard to how much each of us ordered. This policy puts the burden on other people if you order more or less than others as someone is basically subsidizing someone else's bill. This makes ordering and paying awkward. Also, we had someone in our group paying with cash while others used a credit card and that made things complicated too, since we could not ask the server to charge specific amounts on a card. Not everyone in the party is going to be okay with this sort of policy. So now I will probably not come back here with a group of friends. The service was polite and attentive, however. The decor was unoffensive, clean, plain and new. The food was good to bland. The chicken cacciatore was a bit bland. I had to add a lot of seasoning to make it flavorful and then it was good. However, the portions were generous. You got two full chicken breasts and about two cups of pasta with it. The minestrone soup was disappointing. It was $8 for a bowl but it was salty and there weren't a lot of vegetables in the soup. Additionally, the veggies were overcooked and mushy. I had just a few spoonfuls and left the rest behind. The bread basket was good. They brought us garlic bread and some breadsticks with warm marinara. If you like Italian food that is not well seasoned you might like Gregorio's. If you like your food to have clean, zesty flavors this place is not for you. Unless, a friend insists on eating here I probably will not return. My entree and soup together cost me 34 dollars and the food just wasn't worth that. read more

I have dined at Gregorio's in Herndon VA many times. Their quality is excellent, as is the newer location in Potomac. The garlic knots are their house specialty. They are addictive and delicious! Called to inform them that we would be 5-7 minutes late to our reservation and they said no worries, the table would be held for us. The hostess told us when we arrived that our reservation was cancelled because we were late. Totally understand that it was Valentine's day and it was busy, and if they said they couldn't hold our reservation on the phone, we would gone somewhere else. Why would they bring me a Tiramisu cake first ask if they like that I hate coffee not everyone likes coffee plus that cake is disgusting the cake was soggy and wet blahhhhh didn't eat it at all!!!! My first time at Gregorio's and it turns out they just opened a week ago! Not bad - they got everything right. The food was spectacular, good and hearty Italian fare. I got the eggplant parmesan with a side of spaghetti marinara. Firm and crispy, perfectly seasoned with a nice layer of melted mozzarella atop, paired with just enough of a deep red sauce to liven it up, and bright and fresh marinara spaghetti on the side. I didn't have room to try any of the other dishes at the table because I had to leave room for dessert! We tried one of everything, and my favorites were the cannoli and chocolate cake. Add very friendly staff and a bright and clean interior and we have a great Italian restaurant in Park Potomac! This is definitely a go-to spot for me now. Coming back soon, you all should definitely try Gregorio's if you haven't already! read more

If you come here for classic Italian American fare you will have a very nice meal. Everything we had, we enjoyed. No misses in our meal. Is there anything innovative, modern, cool? No, and that's 100% ok! Every restaurant doesn't have to do "trendy" stuff -- I love a place that I can come to knowing what I want and getting exactly that. My Penne Vodka was velvety smooth with perfectly cooked pasta -- delish with some crushed red pepper on top. Hubby said his seafood asparagus with penne has plenty of flavor and plenty of (fresh tasting) seafood. The tiramisu was also a standout: outstanding texture and flavor. Moist but not soaked to the point that you get a soggy feeling when you bite in. Sweet but not too sweet, prominent cocoa flavor but not smothering the espresso flavor just complementing it. They do a fine job with the classics here and when you just want simple, satisfying food done well, this is a great option. read more

Ambiance: 6.5/10. The place looks fine. Not particularly special and certainly good enough. Service: 7/10. Service was ok. Not particularly special but I have no major complaints. Food: 4/10. This might be a generous score. We ordered the branzino, eggplant parm, Gregorio salad, calamari, and mussels. Every single dish was way too salty. But the spinach that accompani e the branzino tasted like someone dumped a ton of salt in it. It was inedible. Clearly nobody tasted it before it was sent out because there is no one on this planet that could have thought this amount of salt would be ok. Calamari and branzino was ok. Branzino was on the overcooked/dry side. Mussels were over seasoned; and I am pretty sure there were some dead ones in there. Didn't taste right despite the attempt to mask it. Eggplant parm was eh. And the spaghetti that came with the eggplant parm was terrible - not worth eating at all. And the kicker is that we all went straight to the toilet when we got home. We definitely ate something bad. Worth noting is that another table was very vocally complaining about the food and I and I heard the waiter tell them that their meal would be comped. I didn't complain because we just wanted to get the heck out of there. I would avoid this restaurant. They need a Gordon Ramsey type to step in and do a major turnaround of this restaurant. read more

Dined here for the first time tonight, a Saturday. Obviously a very popular restaurant judging by the lack of empty tables & people waiting. My chicken breast served with spinach & slices of zucchini over tomato sauce was quite good. Breast was moist and the tomato sauce was light and full of flavor. Generous portion also. I just got food to go and it was awful. As was my moms. I got the chicken francese and the "sauce" was basically cloudy water with a hint of lemon. It's not edible. Restaurant might respond with some token answer, but they should take a hard look at the kitchen. Wont be back. read more

They have a problem with the side door to the outside patio. It slams unless the employee carefully closes it. Talked to the 'manager' about it and he just kind of shrugged. The service was lousy. We were greeted immediately and taken to a table. Great! Then we sat there waiting for 15 minutes. It was when I saw another group be seated and greeted by a waitress that I went in to question. The host agreed to send someone over and acknowledged that there were 3 people serving the patio area. We finally ordered. The food comes out. I ordered a crab and shrimp pasta with rosè sauce. My daughter ordered a pizza. The pasta was underwhelming and very watery. The pizza was ok but only had a tiny hint of sauce. Finally, I ask for the check, paid cash and the server asked if I wanted change. I said yes and he proceeded to bring back the dollar amount without the change (coins). I was going to leave him a tip anyway but I didn't like that he didn't bring back my exact change. It is always a patron's decision if they'd like to tip you and how much is at their discretion. Needless to say, I won't be returning. However, I never have the same experience at the Cabin John location. It's completely opposite. Go to that one instead. read more

First, this place has zero ambience. A giant open room with bright lighting and minimal decoration. Like eating in a college dining hall. Tables are tightly packed in. We were part of a party of 6 that had made reservations at least 3 weeks in advance. We were put at a small round table. We ordered drinks, appetizers and our main courses. Our appetizers (meatballs, small white pizza and mussels) and drinks came out timely. The mussels were cold so we sent them back. We barely had room on the table for the drinks and the meatballs and small pizza, then maybe 5 minutes later all of our main courses came out as well as the mussels. Not only were things rushed, but we were shuffling dishes and piling appetizers on top of our entrees so there was enough room. Ridiculous! The food was good (not great ), and the servers were terrific and hard working, so I feel bad about leaving a negative review. But overall it was not an enjoyable experience. There are many other better Italian places in the area. We won't be back. read more
