I can honestly say that my video analysis lesson with Charlie Soule immediately took 5-7 strokes off my round.

Nice golf course with helpful employees…read more Came for a tournament and the manager was nice enough to make change first thing even though they were short staffed. The food provided for the lunch was very tasty with water, iced tea and lemonade provided. For anyone who wanted beer or alcohol they had one ticket (per our agreement for tournament) or could pay additional for drinks. The course was pretty well maintained. Several holes were very wet and more than once the grass was being cut while we were playing a hole. They do have an app for your phone to record your round and incentivize you to use it with their pro shop. Would come back to play here again.

I've played a lot of public golf courses, and this was one of the most poorly managed pace-of-play…read moreexperiences I've ever seen. The round was moving at an unbelievably slow pace, with groups stacked on every tee box and waits on nearly every shot. What made the experience worse was the complete lack of logical management from the marshal and head pro. Instead of actually addressing the bottleneck or helping improve flow, they spent more time trying to justify why a 5+ hour pace was somehow "normal." At one point, despite multiple open holes ahead and obvious spacing issues, I was told I couldn't play through because it would "mess up the order." That explanation made absolutely no sense considering the course was already severely backed up and groups were sitting idle on tee boxes anyway. Rather than using common sense and customer service, the staff seemed more focused on defending the dysfunction than fixing it. Golf is supposed to be enjoyable, but spending most of the day waiting while being lectured about pace-of-play policies that clearly were not working was incredibly frustrating. A marshal's job is to keep play moving, not explain away slow golf while doing nothing to improve it. The course itself has potential, but the on-course management completely ruined the experience. Until they learn how to manage pace of play with logic and flexibility instead of excuses, I would think twice before coming back.

I was really looking forward to getting fitted by Gott Golf and just got the opportunity (birthday…read morepresent). So, I loaded up my 24-year old clubs and met with Chuck. When I started telling him my background, his first question was "what's your budget." I told him the number I was thinking and he immediately told me that it was not enough money. I was under the impression that a golf fitting could be really beneficial and that even if I didn't buy the clubs from Gott, I could use the insights to buy them at my own pace or in a more economical fashion. Chuck said that they only focus on what they have in their inventory and nothing else. So, there were NO INSIGHTS I could gleam from his expertise, unless I dropped a massive amount of money with Gott. Now, keep in mind, a full bag fitting at Gott Golf is $350 for around 2.5 hours. The vibe I got from Chuck was that I was asking him to work for free or something. Whether or not he meant it to come off that way, he was actively trying to convince me not to do the fitting. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt so disrespected. Don't get me wrong, I understand the business model. But, when you seek out a "professional" or "expert" in any given field, you want the experience to be enjoyable, informational, helpful... Not sure if I was being judged based on my old, beat up clubs or what... But, there was no friendly, meaningful or human conversation upon my arrival. Just "what's your budget?" Unless you want to spend $5,000 on Golf Clubs, Gott Golf does not want your business. In fact, it seems like they don't even want to be helpful for $350 over 2.5 hours... That's $140 an hour. They must be making bank off these custom golf club fittings if $140/hour is so insignificant to them. How would I describe the experience? Out of touch. Snooty. Deflating.

Not as advertised. Not suitable for beginners. Awfully expensive. A bit disorganized…read more I received a lesson/fitting package as a gift. The gift giver was assured that the experience would be suitable for a beginner. Nope! Much of the lesson involved golf swing jargon that just isn't going to be understood by a beginner. Hey, if you know the difference between an open and closed shoulder in your backswing, or the difference between a strong and weak grip (hint: now I know it's nothing to do with how hard you grab the club), then you aren't a beginner, and GolfTec might work for you. Anyway, I stood open mouthed as my coach spewed utter jibberish at me. I stopped him early, and let him know I didn't understand the lingo. Didn't really help. Despite their claims, they really don't have a curriculum for beginners. Beginners need a bunch of instruction in set up and swing fundamentals that really don't benefit from GolfTec's (admittedly cool) elaborate video and computer swing tracking technology. Hey, I get that an advanced golfer, who swings consistently, might love the video breakdown looking for swing faults. A beginner is going to have enough self evident swing faults that this technology is overkill. It's like using a sledgehammer to push in a tack. And GolfTec is expensive. Anyone getting lessons on a weekly basis is definitely going to be paying GolfTec the equivalent of a car payment. Hey, I'm not saying it's not worth it. It's just that for beginners, there are cheaper and more efficient ways to learn the fundamentals. My friends who have had success with GolfTec are both far from beginner level, and are pretty indifferent to cost. If that describes you, great! You might love GolfTec. Me, not so much. Not as advertised.
