CommonGround Golf Course - #12 with a nice Mountain View

CommonGround Golf Course

I absolutely loved this track. Best course in Denver for the money you spend. Very walkable and it…read morewas in great condition when I played it. Greens were medium in terms of speed but very smooth. Fairways were great and the rough was thick. This is my favorite flat course I have played. Tom Doak is an amazing golf course architect, and this is by far the cheapest course designed by him you'll find. Greens are wild. So many reveals when you get closer or go over a ridge. Number 3 is a great par 5 with a center line bunker that messes with your layup choices, and the punchbowl green is sweet. A couple of people I played with pulled their shots left and had some really tough chips coming in. Number 10 is a short par 4 that I would play differently next time. Very wide open on the left, more that you would think. Better angle into that green where trees guards the right side. I would not hit driver and go left, leaving a flip wedge in. Hole 11, a par 5, is my favorite. Didn't hit it well off the tee and ended up in that big cross bunker. Big mound short right of the green both kicks golf balls towards the middle of the green or propels balls over the right side of the green. Water is all up the left side is the hole. Great design. Absolute brutes from hole 14 to the finish. Fun track I'll try and play every time I'm in town. Very hard to get tee times, even during the week as a single. Driving range is huge and off grass. I think I saw three chipping greens and a big putting green. Plenty of areas to practice. Great course for a push cart.

Great golf course, always enjoy the track even though the maintenance has slipped over the past…read morecouple of years. My biggest frustration is the "pay in advance" tee times. No one else does this, and there is no reason for it. I always end up having to go to the shop to get a refund for a Jr or Sr in my group. The staff is not always the most welcoming when doing this.

Hangar Club - One of the bays. They are nice, spacious and some very private.

I've been to a few simulation places around Colorado but this one definitely takes the cake. Space…read moreis very spacious and lots of bays to rent out for as long as you want. Also they have a full bar with a great deal of $4/drafts during all the Broncos games. Food, golf, beers and cocktails with all the sports you want. I think this might be my go to a neighborhood bar.

So the space is huge and amazing but they are dropping the ball on the menu…read more Twice out of tortilla nacho chips. No French fries. The nacho have no jalapeños but are covered in PICKLED onions that look like ham. Who does that? And then we got salads with weird jalapeño's all over them! On salads? Totally weird. No fries- just tater tots that they run out of. Ordered a veggie flatbread and the waitress came back and said "our mushrooms are rotten and I can't serve them". Gross. I never feel like the ladies who work here are not actually enjoying working there. And maybe because it's such a large place, it's ALWAYS dead. Add an in-house made veggie burger. Other sandwiches- a Rueben.. Add fries. DO NOT put jalapeno on ANY salad. DO NOT put PICKLED ANYTHING ON ANYTHING. Ew. I'm writing this because it's in my neighborhood and I want it to thrive!!! Whoever does the menu ... let them go in a kind way. Then keep everything in stock and redo 50% of the menu. Folks like a cocktail and fun (you got that and a beautiful space) - but then they want good food. Ya don't. At all. Hoping for the best. Leigh.

First off, this a tiny little par three course, and I'm rating it as such, so I'm not comparing it…read moreto Arrowhead or Pebble Beach. This is a private course in the heart of a retirement community, and the vibe is about what you'd expect. If you want long drives, difficult holes, and people named Buffy walking around talking about summering in the Hamptons this is probably not your place. What I was looking for was a quick par three open to the public on a random afternoon with no notice at a cheap price, and that's what I got. It was cheap for a round of nine, and you are walking it. The course was well maintained for the most part. One of the greens could have used a little love, but that's being nit picky. I think I used four clubs and some of the holes were at 100 yards or less. So, you probably don't need your driver. There is a putting green, but the "driving range" is essentially one cage that one golfer can hit into. Didn't try the restaurant. All in all, this is a nice little spot to fill a niche. I'll be back.

When it comes to a solid par 3 for beginners this is a great starter course ! Quick rounds…read moredepending on the day. This course is centered in a retirement community so my goal has always been to not break glass or hit some retirees in the head with a ball. So far so good ! No casualties. This is a regional rec center…read morethat not only offers classes, workout equipment & a gym but it also has basketball, pickle ball, volleyball & an indoor pool with a lazy river. This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. This is a fantastic center with fabulous instructors.

This review is specifically for the layout of the weights on the second floor. More specifically,…read morethe location of the bench press (2) and incline bench (1). The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.
