Unfortunately, I need to update my previous review and reduce my rating from 4 stars to 1 star after our experience last night (Saturday). We stopped in for dinner at around 7 p.m. and had the absolute worst service ever. We were taken to a table that was still dirty and there was even a flower vase in one of the chairs (???). There were no utensils or napkins (we had to ask for them). The guy who seated us didn't even bother to clean the table. After we were seated, it was a good 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and brought us menus and took our drink orders. We ordered our drinks and, about 10 minutes later, a completely different waitress came to our table and asked if she could take our drink orders. We told her that another waitress had already taken our drink orders 10 minutes earlier, but had not come back with them yet. She looked very confused and said, "Oh, okay" and walked away. We finally received our drinks about 5 minutes later and then we placed our orders. We had to repeat our orders several times because the waitress was clearly not understanding what we wanted. We then waited what felt like a month for our food. When it finally came out, my side of salmon sashimi was missing. The waitress had completely forgotten that I had ordered it, so she had to go back and get it, which took another 10-15 minutes. In all the years we have been coming here, the food has always been great; however, last night it was terrible. The crab rangoon had almost a metallic taste, my beef and vegetables were completely flavorless, and the rice was absolutely disgusting as it was cold and dry. My husband had nothing good to say about his meal either. Also, our waitress never came back to refill our drinks, even though or glasses were empty not even halfway through our meals and we had put them at the edge of the table so that our waitress would see that we needed refills. I don't know what has happened, but both the service and the food have gone way downhill. We are extremely disappointed as we have always loved coming here over the past 8-9 years, but after this experience, I don't think we will be back anytime soon. read more

Absolutely delicious! Freshly cooked also! The calamari was the best I've ever had and the dragon roll was awesome. The only reason why it's not five stars is because of the service. The waiter took forever to take our order..and did not refill our drinks. I actually had to look for him to tell him we wanted dessert. My friend and I came in for an early dinner at Green Tea tonight and ordered a bottle of sake and appetizers(steamed dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and beef skewers). They all came out on time and were cooked properly. No complaints there. Tasty stuff. My friend ordered chicken and broccoli and I ordered the crispy half duck. The entrees come out and the duck is visibly gray and over cooked. The duck was pre sliced and deep fried which will ruin any duck breast. It was dry to the point of being inedible. I called the server over and let her know It was overcooked and ordered the pupu platter instead. She told me the owner said she won't take it off the bill and apologized. This is somewhat a laughable situation so I wasn't even upset and politely told the server that the owner can come speak to me personally about the bad duck. The owner waited 25 minutes before coming to speak to me about the duck that was overcooked and removed from the table as soon as I said something. The owner asked me what was wrong with the duck and I told her it was overcooked/dry/poorly prepared, and after taking one bite I sent it back and do not wish to pay for it. She the said that it says crispy duck on the menu, asked me a series of questions that felt like an interrogation about how the server described the dish, and told me that crispy duck is always dry and that the restaurant is at no fault, and that I need to pay full price for the duck(they took it off the table and threw it away 20 mins prior). I chuckled and said I'm not paying for the duck as it was inedible and I'm more than happy to pay for everything else which was delicious. The owner told me at that point that I was breaking the law and that me not paying for the duck was illegal. Tables around us were observing and making us feel like we were doing something wrong. I said we are not breaking any laws, you overcooked a dish and let's move on. The owner then said the best I can do is 50%. I refused, and she got aggressive and yelled at us that she will pay for this out of her own pocket. Long story short, NEVER EVER eat at this joke of a restaurant. The server even told me that she would probably have to pay for the dish out of her own pocket and how terrible the owners were. If you go to green tea, and your dish is cooked improperly, expect to be threatened by the owner with legal action. This place is pathetic, due to the owners' ignorance regarding customer service and hospitality. read more

I ordered General Tso chicken and sesame chicken which both tasted exactly the same the only difference was they actually put a raw jalapeño in the generals. The chicken was barely fried it tasted like grilled chicken. The color was orange which is ironic because I didn't order orange chicken. The fried rice did not look like any other fried rice I've ever eaten. The crab Rangoon's and spring rolls were OK pretty much the only thing that was even remotely edible. Not a big fan of duck sauce in a packet. I have driven past this place several times and wanted to give it a try very disappointed that I even bothered considering the price and the portion was definitely not worth it. Just ordered from them for the first time. I did it online for pick up which is great right now. The downside to their online ordering is you can't pay online. I got (3) salmon sushi, red tail sushi, mackerel sushi, fatty salmon sushi, and fried shumai. I was a bit worried when I noticed they have farmed salmon but it was so fresh I could barely tell the difference! Trust me, if you knew me you would know how rare this is lol! Both the fatty and regular salmon sushi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and I HIGHLY recommend it. The red tail was good there was a bit of what I believe was soy sauce in the tray and the rice absorbed it which threw off the taste a bit but it wasn't overwhelming and I will definitely be ordering it again. The mackerel is mackerel ‍ it was thickly sliced which was weird and too salty to have that soy sauce add to it. It was my first try at mackerel because they were out of striped bass so for all I know that's normal. The shumai. The shumai...good cook, poor mix. I have never had shumai with a tiny piece of shrimp per dumpling before. Literally just one! In each dumpling! If you don't mind that I would say go for it because, again, good cook. All that came out to a total of $27.49 which is a great deal. They also gave me a $2.50 off coupon for another visit valid from 7/26-8/10 hahaha to make up for lack of striped bass. read more

Hair in my sushi!!...This was my first visit to the restaurant and it was beyond disappointing. I ordered the Kiss of Fire sushi roll. When I bit into the first piece there was a hair. I spit it into my napkin and then notice on the piece next to it there was a black hair hanging off the tail of the shrimp tempura! I went to pull it off and the hair was INSIDE the roll and I actually picked the roll up by the hair and dangled it for the waitress. She didn't seem to understand what I was showing her and only asked. "Would you like another one?" It was laughable and NO ONE came to apologize to us. Our server's language barriers could have been a factor in her apparent indifference but a manager should've come to our table. They removed my sushi from our bill but I didnt eat it, so that wasn't a consolation. I'm not sure what left a bad taste in my mouth more, the hair filled sushi or the unapologetic staff/management. read more

I've wanted to check this place out for a while. Cool exterior seemed fun and inviting. I arrived around 8:30pm on Monday of Presidents Day weekend so it was lightly but adequately staffed. I was t familiar with the flow of the restaurant. No one was at hostess station and I had to look for staff. I was advised to order take out I'd have to go to the desk past the bar. I found the two maki combo with miso soup quickly and I was shortly on my way. Food was fine for the price but the staff were probably wrapping up their day. They didn't look up with a smile and before I could even look up to thank them for my food he was on his way talking with another staff member. I give the food 4 stars and service 3 stars read more

This is where you go if you want great sushi that is almost to beautiful to eat. The prices are great and the service is consistent. I have never had a server who had a personality. However, they know how to do their job..( being quick on return, filling drinks, and taking dirty plates off the table). The only advice that I have to give is go for the hard alcohol instead of beer. The group that I went with was a party of 5 and I got a draft Bud Light that was very very stale and my boyfriend got a Budweiser that was skunky, our server spoke very little English so I neglected to say something, I should of spoke up so they would stop serving the beer we bought, but we were having such a good time I did not want to whine about something petty. read more

Had lunch today. Very ordinary... and Expensive. Started with Miso soup; Nothing but salty water. Had a Fresh Spring Roll; Actually would have been OK, but drenched in salad dressing of some sort. House salad; Watery ginger covered mess. Green Tea; Had to send back twice as it was lukewarm. Teriyaki Beef; Over-sauced warm meat on top of under cooked veggies piled on a fajita plate. Had to dig holes for the meat so it would warm up on the plate. Lastly; Our waitress appeared to have not changed her apron for a while. Very dirty and covered with grease spots. Oriental Jade may have the best Chinese selection in Bangor, but if you pass up on Green Tea for Chinese or Japanese, you're doing yourself an injustice. The sushi is fantastic, better than Yoshi IMHO. They have a great selection of Japanese and Chinese, and great atmosphere. If you like a little zing, you must get the wasabi shumai! read more

My boyfriend and I always go here whenever he visits me at school. You get a ridiculous amount of food for the price and they have all kinds of crazy sushi creations. I don't know how authentic it is, but I don't care because it's delicious! The atmosphere is nice and the servers are attentive and friendly, although the restaurant tends to be understaffed. I don't really mind though because the food is always fresh and artfully presented. I also like that they have both a Chinese and a Japanese menu. My only real complaint is that there is a huge gap between the booth seats and the table so I have to sit perched on the edge of my seat! Having lived in the Boston and Portland area, it was sort of a culture shock arriving in Bangor. It's hard to find any good ethnic food here. While I wouldn't call Green Tea authentic, it never disappoints. It's my favorite Asian restaurant in the Bangor area. I've taken friends and family here and they have all enjoyed the food (and the scorpion bowls too). Although others may think the decor is tacky, I like their attention to detail. I also love the soundtrack they play. Overall, we always leave Green Tea happy because of the great customer service and food. read more

I mostly do take-out from Green Tea. They have inventive fusion appetizers (the sexy jalapeno for example) and sushi rolls (maki rolls). This place surprised us. The food was delicious. We had the sexy jalapeños, sashimi, and the spicy king pao chicken. ALL GREAT! The jalapeños were fresh and so was the chicken. Great atmosphere. Has a decent sushi bar, and offers a pretty wide range of food offerings. I had a stir-fried veggies in garlic sauce as well as a Maine Roll from the sushi bar. Both were very good. Green Tea is an amazing restaurant for anyone who loves Chinese themed food. I think the best food they have is the sea urchin sushi. It doesn't taste fishy, it has a nice creamy texture, and tastes like the sea. It tastes amazing with wasabi on top. If you think that that sounds great, you should try their coconut shrimp. The way they make it is beyond words. It has a nice crunchy shell topped with a kinda sweet coconut sauce. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes shrimp. I came here with my family, and they found their sushi absolutely wonderful. I love this restaurant for everything they have. The only down side to about it to me is how pricy the foods are. For example, my coconut shrimp was about 11.95, give or take. But that just means that you pay for higher quality food. Again, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food. read more
